I would like to report a bug then. This isn’t to change it to the bugged status that it was because many players didn’t like it. I think these things can still be considered a bug though :

- The characters lighting is effected by the position of the camera (see linked pictures above)
- The character preview does not represent what the character/armor looks like ingame
- Characters skin and armor should be treated the same way (see attachment above)
- It would be nice if players could toggle realistic and other lighting.

I’m making this post in light of the recent lighting changes in GW2 (pun intended). As some of you might have noticed a recent patch changed the way your characters were illuminated and how certain dyes effected them. A short time later the change was “fixed” due to multiple complaints and all changes were reverted. I hope that this post can explain what happened (at least what I think happened) and can somehow lead to a better solution to this problem. I wanted to do this earlier but I didn’t have the time.

I would like to remark, that I doubt that the lighting change was a bug in the first place. Ever since launch the characters skins have had a slight illumination on them meaning that they are not properly effected by environmental lights. (this also goes for Sylvari racial armor) You can see this effect easily when you go into a dark area like the black room in the jumping puzzle in lions arch : the armor will be dark because the room is dark whilst the characters skin/fur/leafy-stuff will be glowing like radioactive shrooms.(example : http://i.imgur.com/Ac57uTPr.jpg ) Another problem that occurred was that the lighting on the character changed depending on the position of the camera (example: http://imgur.com/a/jUpNu notice how the lighting changes even though the character hasn’t moved). With the patch, these things were fixed. Characters and armor both were effected by environmental lights and your character would actually be dark whilst standing in the dark (unless you had any glowy stuff on or were a Sylvari). This however also meant that certain dyes were toned down, leading to a lot of unhappy players. It should also be noted that because people had never seen their characters in natural lighting a lot of people were suddenly shocked by the way the characters looked. (I personally believe that the illumination was just turned off but who knows). Anyway, long story short, now the “fix” has be reverted and the bug “fixed” -> meaning that all now looks as bad or as good as it did before.

I would personally have liked it to be a setting the player can play around with because I preferred the fixed lighting to the old version. In general I think we can all agree that it would be nice if both the character and the armor would have the same lighting and that both would be more representative of what the preview looks like. I would like both to be properly effected by environmental lighting (mostly for screenshots) but I think it would be best for everyone if you could turn it on and off. That way you could decide what you like best, ether clear shadows cast on the character or a slight illumination on the character (similar to flat-lighting but not as extreme) that lets you see the colours clearer (like the skin is now). Either way the lighting as it is now is not good and I think It would be nice if the devs could address the problem properly and then explain the change in the patch notes. I don’t even get to the last phase because the rift for Caithe spawns in midair where I can reach it. I hope these things are fixed soon because I would really like to complete the story. I also think the boss is a bit of an HP sponge. It would be nice if its health could be lowered a bit for solo encounters because as it is now it takes ages and then it bugs and you cant even complete it. ~ apart from then that I’m loving HoT.

I just wish that staff would be more viable for condi thief… then again I feel that right now any class without access to burning doesn’t really have a chance at condi. So maby give Thieves some way to apply burning?

Beta achievements

Im a bit confused about something : the beta achievements are only doabl with ourbeta charakters right? But the Beta Characters bank, achievements and all other stuff isnt conected to our proper accounts, they are just copies. So why do we have special beta achievements? If someone knows more or if the achievements will later be transfered please do tell in the comments.

Yay I finally got to play the Revenant! It was fun but the class has some mayor flaws:

-The legend swapping mechanic doesnt work : each legend is catering to a specific build and gear set and whilst you can argue, that you can at least change the builds utilies when you swap legends, you cant swap equipment. In the end you are always just playing 1 legend with the second as utility back up. I dont think that is how the class was meant to be.
- Despite the fact that the revenant can change its intire skillbar during a fight, it still feels really rigid : you can swap weapons and legends, but you cant choose your own utilities meaning that you are forced into the builds mentioned above.
- The Revenants weapons are all very clearly trimmed to each fit a spesific Legend. There isnt any real choice for the player here.
- The skills still need some balencing : right now it feels like you are just left spamming auto attack whilst waiting for your energy to replenish.

I would really like to see all the points metioned above adressed and I hope that the Rev will still go through some mayor changes untill HoT is released.

This is something I have mentioned before but I feel it would be better to bring it up here. Now that the Revenant has been reiterated and weapon swap has been added I cant help but feel that the class has lost some of its flavor. The following post isnt intended as a rant its just an interesting idea ^^.

The Revenant can be seen as the heavy armor version of what elementalist and engineer are in their own armor classes. Both the elementalist and the engineer dont have acess to weapon swap and instead utilise other methods to change their skills. Revenent originally mirrored this with its legend swapping ability that enabled the player to gain acess to a new set of utility skills. This however lead to a few problems :

1. Because utiltiy skills are bound to legends only all Revenant playes channeling the same legend would have an Identical skill set (yes they can have diferent weapns and traits equiped but at least in the case of weapon skills they would still be identical for each weapon type). In Gw2 the only true skill costomisation a player has is bound to the utility skills. Yes players of the same class can have diferent weapons equiped but the skills for each weapon can not be changed. This means that appart from traits and armor ( the unseen adaptations) the only trully visible way for a player diferentiate their build from another players is buy costomising their utility skills. A Revenant player can not do this.

2. Because the Revenant originally could only change its utility skills, buy channeling either of the 2 legends it has equiped, without weapon swapping, you can argue that it doesnt have acces to enough skills. Elementalists inability to weapon swap is combated by its 4 elemental atunements and its summoned weapons giving them access to more than double the weapon skills a regular class can use. And engineer deals with its inability to weapon swap by its toolbelt mechanic ant its mulititude of kits. Compared to these 2 classes the Revenant looks a bit underwealming in terms of skill variety.

To fix some of these problems as well as adding some more dps viabilty to the Revenant the devs have made some radical changes to the class. This includes the addition of weapon swapping.

Whilst I think most of these changes are great and am very thakfull for the quick and thorough fix the devs put out some of the initial problems I mentioned remain and some new ones have been created:

The weapon swap fixes the issue of the Revenants previous lack of useable skills (I mean the kitten nal of skills a player can use in a single fight) however, it doesnt fix the Revenants lack of build customisation options in comparison to other classes (as mentioned in point 1 up above) and it also removes some of the classes initial flavor (its unique class mecahnic without weapon swapping similar to the elementalist and the engineer). Heres what I think might improve the class and also fix these problems:

1. Adding at least 1 normal utility to each of the Revenants existing legends. I know that this would mean the Revenant having acces to more untilities than other classes, however, this is balenced by its inability to freely mix and match its utility skills (they are bound to the legends). This change would give players the chance to have more unique builds that diferantiate them from other Revenants channeling the same legend.

2. Binding the Revenants existing weapon swap ability to the Legend swap mechanic. This would mean that whenever you change legends you would also automatically change weapon sets and there wouldnt be a “normal” weapon swap option. This way the weapon swap mechanic would feel unique to the Revenat class and players could define their playstyles more. The legends wouldnt feel identil to oneanother and disconecte from weapon swapping. instead you could define yourself as a staff/ventari and hammer/jalis Revenant. I know this is also a limitation , however, i feel the class would feel more distict because of it. (this sugestion isnt implying the each weapon is bound to each legend and the player cant choose. What it means is that the legend number 1 is always connected to weapon set 1 and that legend number 2 is always connected to weapon set 2.) This slight update to the Revenants weapon swap mechanic also works well with the recent update making legend swaps intantainious.

I would be happy if you guys could write what you think about this suggestion down below and maby even improve it. If a dev happens across this post whilst checking the forums be sure to leave a comment ;D .

could weapon swap on legend swap be a thing? I think it would be more inline with the flavor of the Revenant^^. ( I mean that when you change legends you also change weapons → Legend 1 connected to weaponslotset 1 and legend 2 conected to weapnslotset 2)

I don’t like jumping puzzles, so I would like a way to avoid having JPs as a required daily.

It would still just be one of many dailies so you wouldnt have to do it if you dont like it.

but its up to the players to decide how they play content. If they want a fast port thats up to them. But Im sure there are many out there who would love to do these jumping puzzles if they had more insentive to do so. Quite a few new players diligently do the dailies and use it as a way to get familiar with new content. Also, we dont know when HoT will be released^^°.

I like it! Although I would recommend making it to not refer to specific puzzles because new players might want to discover them on their own without the game telling them where/what they are.

I agree! I would like it if it would just say which map and not the which puzzle. Then players could look for it if they dont already have it and be surprised when they find it.

I really miss the old jumping puzzle monthlies and dailies. I think that having a daily jumping puzzle rotation would fit really nicely into the new system. It would have to give the players the choice between 2 jumping puzzles to do : 1 in a staring/early area and 1 in a mid/high level area. That way anyone could join in and people would have more insentive to have fun jumping around tyria .

I really hope a daily like this will be implemented in the future. Jumping puzzles are some of my favorite content and I feel they are being left out right now.

-They patched a language option in for europe-> it was automaticaly aktivated for evryone so if you are trying to coordinate anything on a european sever everyone who hase the game in a different language than you cant hear you-> worldboss coordination killed-> I cant help players who are asking for help in mapchat because they may have the game in a different language…

-WvW points were merged- when you level up on a low level charakter you can only open the chest you get, on them ( no way to open it on a lv 80 chara for better loot)-> as your level rises it takes more and more time to level up so it is actualy making it hamfull to level your chakters by wvw! + no combensation -.-

-> Trait changes + new grand master traits implemented-> traits are now only accessable from lv 30 ( this cap is way to high) and you gater different traits throghout the world by clearing certain objectives or you can buy them at a vendor (sond nice right? just wait -.-)-> traits are placed in a way that they are nearly impossible to attain in some cases and to easy in others, you are forced to clear all maps to get then instead of for instance the normal path a charakter would go while leveling-> traits are not placed correctly in comparison to there level ( speedy kits form engy (2 trait point /lv 35) requires that you have frostgorgesound , a lv 80 area at 100%-> new players have no Idea how they work or where to find them ( because a new player to mmo doesnt know that dulfy has all the answers)-> traits are way to expensive-> you cant earn all the base traits without doing wvw and pve ( no everyone wants to do both they should be able to do that)-> traits should be availiable from lv 10 and should be placed in a way that they can be acclaimed by some one just going throgh the world and descovering it starting from there staring zone ( all 0-10 zones have all the lv 10 traits hiden around them / all lv 11-20 the traits for there levels and so on.)

- PVP has been updated to make it more userfriendly-> yes it is and I enjoy it-< dongeon tracks were introduced to make it possible to gain equip from pvp-> there arent enogh arenas for the ammount of ppl in pvp

-devs asked for feed back about the new patch -> devs proceded to ignore the forums (I know some might read thing but if they dont respond or do anything about the issues being named its as good as if thay didnt -.-)-> no responces were given exept for that they have better things to do , namly the release in china ( this isnt quite the wording but the wrote that they cant respond to the forum issues because they are working on the upcoming release in china).

The game has been changed to make in easyer for casual players ( which isnt all bad), established non casual communitys were ignored ( RP, Mega world boss and so on), qualty of life changes where made in a way that caused many new problems, good inovations were spoiled by bad implementaion and testing.

i beleve the game has changed and I also believe it has the foundation now to get better but only if arenanet realy invests some time into treaking the current update and learns from mistakes , so that they arent made in the future.

+I would like a new ballencing in WvW to stop the extream night raids. for european servers this can be realy unfair (as specialy for german ones) since some servers hire guilds from NA to do the night zergs. It would be nice if the main castles and towers would not count for the tic at night to balence the difference between servers nocturnal activities ..

the feature pack wasnt fully tested, wasnt well implemented , is unfinished and they cant change anything about it because they are focusing on a release in a different country -.-.
please dont think I dont value the inovations and positive changes made to the game, i just think that the lack of feedback, communication and bad implementation ruins alot of it.

- the bring the wardrobe system + dyes-> they get rid of town clothes (despite the wardrobe being the PERFECT thing for them), they partiale remove charaktaristics (charm, honor …)

- they unlock all skins you have on !-> they dont give any kind of option to retrospectivly unlock skins (like for pple who have the title “the emporer” or have done the living world metas) and have tones of skins thar are immpossible to get.

-they convert transmutation stones and crystals into charges-> they do it in a compleatly unfair rate making it realy unfair for newer players -> should have been 2 stones = 1 charge and 1 crystal = 2 charges.-> when you store a skin you dont gain a transmutation charge.

-They implement the megaserver system to rase the genaral map population-> algorithms dont work gild missions become nearly impassible -> european servers get multilingual megaservers (french, german , english and no coordination possible)-> RP is literaly killed-> now way to chose a mega server (like gw 1 with numbered servers, or by naming them and designating an RP overflow)-> mega servers Hardcap prematurely if many ppl guest on to them at the same time ( this is bad for coordinated worldbosses like the worm).

-Boss times are changed to make them more “accessable”-> Mega bosses are killed for groups trying to find out how they work ( we did the 3 headed worm evry 2 hours for almost 2 weeks before we got world first kill, this wont be possible for future bosses)-> Massive down times where no bosses spawn-> because of the timing many pple cant even try Karka , teq or the worm because they are to early and there is no second spaw ( prime time karke for europe is at 6pm CET that is 5pm in britain and even earlyer in winter time -.-).

-To not “harm” the coordinated megaboss attempts Guild may spawn world bosses-> the spawn is to expensive for any world boss guild ( because they normaly arent full rep and split up over multiple servers)-> there is no reliable way for the guild spawinig to get its members on the right mega server-> if you wanted to spawn a worldboss onece evryday of the week you would need about 3 guilds and each would only be able to get 50 plle onto the map-> to be able to “test” new World bosses yoz would want to spawn it multible times but the cooldown is to long and you can only stack 3.-> smaler guilds have no acces to these extra spawns-> there are no rewards for spawning the world bosses -.-

Game Updates: Wardrobe, Transmutation, Outfits

Dear ArenaNet this is my feedback to the feature pack, it took me a while to play through all new features . The following will be a summary of the various aspects of the new feature pack as well as its pros and con , and sujestions.

Ok where can i start? I think that the feature pack was an update that should have come long before, that it contains loads of great inovations but that many features lack a good implementation. i hope that our feedback will lead to future changes.

Part 1: The wardrobe system and the new hero menu interface.
The new wardrobe and dye system are 2 things that I love about the new feature pack. it alows you to acces all unlocked skins and dys over all your characters. The skins kann be applied with transmutation charges and the dys for free. The hero menu has also been changed to make it easyer to preview and/or apply these changes. However to simplify the interface and other aspects of the system some things have been cut out.
- you can no longer see If your charakter is charismatic, barbaric , noble or anything inbetween. However the Npcs still have the different conversation options for these traits. I can that you are trying to get rid of something that was never consequently implemented, but if you mean to abbolish something you should do so intirely or not at all.
-Town cloths and costumes have been transformed into tonics and can no longer be mixed. Honestly i cant understand why you would do this. you implement the wardrobe systen , a systen perfectly suited to incorporate town clothes in a userfriendly and accsessible way and instead just cut them out. (agin not fully)….Why would you do this? Please reimplement them as a seperate catagory of the wardrobe system.
-There is no way to obtain certain skins in the game anymore, or they are to expencive. For instance free skins in the gem store that people ended up deleting to make space and that are now no longer availible. Another example: you have the title the emporer meaning you have all cultural armor, however if you nolonger own them you would have to buy them again to unlock the skins. basikaly there needs to be a way to retrospectively unlock skins→ be it buy having certain titles or just the free thing returning to the gemstore …
- all transmutation stones and crystals were converted into charges. first of all the convertion was in no means fair: 1 crystal should have made 2 charges and to stones should have made 1 charge. Also when you buy a skin at the gemstore and decide to store it you dont gain a transmutaion charge.

overall Id say to this part of the feature patch: yes I love it! but I also cry for what has been lost. I dont feel that simplefying a system means that you need to get rid of diversity→ town clothes should get a seperate section in the wardrobe → I want to be able to see my characters Charakter!→ some system to retrospectively get skins one once had .

Ideal spawn times that fit better into the primetime spawn schedule for GW2community would go thusly. Two opportunities for each boss during primetime, with slots for future events and 2 hour ‘stagger’ between the same events.
First round of spawns <— These are only workable if we have a second round of spawns, 2 hours later.
Future MegaBoss #1 ( 3x harder than Wurm please) @ 18:00 CEST
Three Headed Wurm @ 19:00 CEST
Tequatl @ 20:00 CEST
Karka Queen @ 21:00 CEST

3. Logically separate ‘Mega-Organised’ events from the other World Boss events in the table schedule
The current table schedule is too restrictive and there are no good slots to put in future ‘Mega-Organised’ Events. We shouldn’t try to put them there just to ‘fit them in’ and allow them to have their own little unique slot in the table. They should spawn regardless of what else might be going on in Tyria and could even overlap each other. A 2 hour ‘stagger’ of events seems reasonable.

4. Advance the current megaboss spawn-times by 1 hour
This will push them more firmly into ‘primetime’ for a greater number of our players. For people in the UK, BST (British Summer Time) is currently in effect but with the current spawn schedule, our ‘primetime’ Wurm Spawn will be 18:00 GMT in winter. Most over-worked Brits are not even home from work by this point. If we are to keep the singular primetime spawn, we need to make the spawns later to fall into primetime. These are our ideal spawns for this solution.

This is a personal preference for GW2community but was always the natural progression of our World Boss killing. Have other communities always done this too?

We are obviously only just one community and our wants and needs are going to differ from others. Some requests here could be considered ‘selfish’ but that is the point. We want our gaming to be convenient for us and not tied down to a ‘schedule’. Or at least, we want to be able to spawn these events with a sustainable cost to our guild Influence and Merit income.

What are your opinions and thoughts on the new system? How does this affect your community or guild? How do these times affect your own play schedule as an individual player? We have also made a strawpoll which you can visit here to tell us what you think of our proposals.
We would also like to echo the feeling of TxS and their community. We empathize with their own concerns regarding the new spawn schedule and restrictions fully.

How GW2Community works as a Wurm and Tequatl slaying community and our anticipated problems with the Guild World Event unlock:

GW2Community is a group of guilds that come together to defeat the Wurm and Tequatl. We all share a Teamspeak but in-game we represent many different guilds and we have many regular players that show up to these events who don’t represent any of the ‘main’ community guilds at all. Despite our large numbers, we do not gain influence in the same rapid manner full-representation guilds do as we don’t require full-representation. WorldBoss guilds usually have a singular focus and that is to take down the hardest content in the game. Most members have other guilds as their main guilds to do other things like guild missions and WvW etc where they can earn reliable influence and merits. Our guilds, which were specifically created for events like this, will not be able to spawn these bosses as frequently as we’d like. Our communities’ guilds also cannot force our players to do Guild Missions as that was never our initial focus.
If a guild is to spawn the bosses every time they want to do an attempt, then with the current maximum 120 merits you can gain a week from doing the highest tier of guild missions, they will only be able to spawn a boss 6 times a week. Since we attempt to do the Triple Trouble Wurm, Tequatl and Karka Queen every night, we are not going to be able to maintain the high merit and influence cost required to spawn these events at our most convenient time.

GW2Community proposes a few things. Laid out below are our proposals in order of descending preference :

1. Decrease the cost of activating a world event
We feel this is the most elegant solution to our problem of being tied to the one Natural Spawn in primetime. The current cost of activating these events is too high for smaller guilds. It is a barrier to entry that discourages them from even trying as the cost of failure is too high. NíP is currently a no representation required guild but holds a large part of the player-base that makes up the ‘community’ of GW2Community. Even with our pooled resources from all the guilds in our community , we are feeling it is going to be unsustainable to pop these events when we want to. A return on the merit and influence investment could also be given for successful completions of these Guild procced events based on the difficulty of the event. For example, Wurm gives %150 of the Merit and influence investment back, Tequatl gives %80 back and Karka gives %50 back.

2. Two fixed ‘primetime’ spawns per night
This doesn’t have to be on all the ‘Mega-Organised’ events but will help with the Three-Headed Wurm at least. This will enable newer WorldBoss guilds and communities an extra chance at the Three-headed Wurm and will allow them to gain real-world experience at killing it at a faster rate. It will also appease established communities as even we don’t complete this hard content with %100 success-rate. However, popping our own event because we failed the initial spawn may be a reasonable ‘cost of failure’.

Hey there! My name is Mkkoll, I am from the EU and I am here to represent the wonderful GW2Community, [NíP], [EVE] and [Wums], the first community to kill the Three-Headed Wurm.

With the new fixed WorldBoss spawn system in place, many in GW2Community are finding the current ‘Natural Spawn’ times quite inconvenient. GW2Community regularly attempted a Three-headed Wurm kill at both 21:00 CEST and 23:00 CEST if the first one failed. We would then move onto Tequatl at the next spawn and finally Karka Queen. This was convenient and efficient as far as organisation for our commanders. Events with most organisation and concentration required first down to least organisation. People could really focus all their energy and efforts on the Wurm then slowly wind down on the easier events, Tequatl and Karka Queen.I will detail the problems further below and give our suggestions of what can be done to make these bosses workable again.

The problem we are noticing now is that the ‘primetime’ Wurm event is too early for a lot of the people in our community and Tequatl and karka Queen are simply too early all together. Most of us don’t even consider 19:00 CEST Tequatl true primetime. People need time to get home from work/school, cook, eat, clean say Hi to their significant other then settle into their night of World Boss slaying.To summarize, the overall problems are the inconvenient spawn times for the EU servers that will be exacerbated for UK players in the winter and the extremely expensive prices for the guild summoning option.

The Guild World Event Unlock: We realise that the new Guild World Events Unlock was intended to address communities and groups that found the fixed Natural Spawns inconvenient. But we feel the current cost of the unlock is simply too high. If we were to continue to try and do Wurm->Tequatl->karka Queen at our previous times every night we would require 30,000 influence and 60 merits. If we were to be more reasonable and ignored Karka queen and Tequatl, proccing the Wurm is still 20 Merits and 10k Influence every night. This is a high cost for established, high-representation guilds, never mind new guilds. We simply don’t feel a new World-boss focused guild could amass enough influence and merits quickly enough to get enough attempts at the Wurm to improve at it. GW2Community took weeks and multiple fails a night to finally start nailing the Three-headed Wurm consistently. How is a new World Boss-focused guild to get the experience with one fixed ‘primetime’ spawn per night? This is not to mention that GW2Community often attempts the Wurm on multiple overflows and we simply couldn’t proc the Wurm multiple times every night at the current rate we attempt it.

Im from the GW2 eu community (another group of players who do the mega world bosses dayly → as far as I know we also got the first worm kill). We will be making a similar post in the forum soon. please know that we agree with this one though aswell.
