The problem I see is: You keep losing your target for no apparent reason. You should check into not clearing your target constantly, that’d help.

First: If your support is the only thing keeping your party from wiping, find a new party or educate your party on how to play. This game is high on personal accountability. If you screw up, you face the consequences. There is no healer standing in the back to keep lazy people alive; they have to keep themselves alive.

Second: If you must provide full-time support, use a ranged weapon and turn on autoattack. No Guardian support skill that I am aware of requires you to target another player.

Any cheap 2h Hammer skins around???

Personally, I’ve given up on doing WvW with my Guardian for the time being.

It’s all just: Spawn, walk for 5 minutes, die to a zerg, rinse, repeat. The only combat I ever see is 50 man zergs. A limited ranged class is basically useless in those, unless you like repairing every 5 minutes.

WvW seriously needs more waypoints.

And, if you’re going to say how the Guardian can do this or do that… maybe include some trait builds or at least tips?

I would, personally, swap your Shield trait for Purity.

Also, I’d drop Purging Flames for another Shout, since you’re traiting Shouts. This would be expecially beneficial with the Soldier rune 6 set bonus.

Staff - Does it need adjusted?

I find the auto attack on Staff to be decent, for it’s purpose. It’s not meant to be a single target DPS attack, obviously.

The Heal ball works very well in my experience, you just have to get the aiming part down (don’t angle your screen downwards).

Swiftness is… Swiftness. Not an amazing boon in PvE combat, but not terrible either.

The number 4 ability… I’ve had issues with this recently. I used to be able to heal and buff people near me with it, but my recent attempts have resulted in only myself being healed/buffed. I think this is probably a target prioritization issue. Heals/boons should prioritize players before pets/NPCs. This is a global AE healing issue, however.

The wall has it’s uses. I would prefer it be a bit longer, but it’s not bad as is.

The Guardian Trait “Focused Mind” (20 point Major in the Valor tree) causes all Meditation skills to become instants. However, it appears the instant and non-instant (or traited and non-traited) versions of the Meditations are registered as separate utility skills. Using Meditation skills and then changing this trait to another trait will cause the skills to perform a “flip” animation and be usable again. If the skills are used again and the trait is returned, the skills will “flip” again and the original cooldowns will be visible. Changing the trait a third time will show the second set of cooldowns.

Norn does less Whirling Wrath damage than Human

I ran a few tests on both a Norn and a Human (smallest Female of each).

Standing inside the Medium Golem (Melee Assist off), each race had exactly 14 hits: 7 swings and 7 projectiles. This occurred every time. I only did this 10 times on each race as there was no deviation from this pattern.

I then turned Melee Assist back on to test, and these are the results: (Projectiles that hit the Golem only, each race continued to have exactly 7 swing hits)

I stood each character in the same location, directly behind the Golem.

Average without 3s: 0.85 (Norn) — 1.05 (Human)

These numbers are fairly within the range of randomness, though the Human sample did show a strong bias towards 1 projectile per activation.

I think that there is not much, if any, difference between races for this particular skill.

I can replicate this test for a largest Norn model, as well.

Mobs Backing Away

Sadly, that’s not the issue. This occurs even when I engage a mob directly on it’s spawn location. I am not attempting to move the mobs at all.

The issue is simply the mobs moving away from me, just a couple of steps. It’s basically them moving to maximum attack range for themselves, which is outside normal melee attack range for players, and this was not occurring previously (this is my second character to 80).

Mobs Backing Away

I may be wrong on this, but I could swear this was not happening before the last couple of days (maybe just today).

What is occurring is that mobs, typically large sized ones like Champions, will constantly back up out of my Guardian’s melee range. I will get in range, and they will move away a couple of steps and continue meleeing. I get in range again, and they move again. Ad nauseum.

If I try to get behind the mob so I can “push” it the other way, we end up strafing alongside each other for awhile until I hit a Swiftness buff.

The weapons I use don’t seem to matter (other than the obvious ranged weapon difference), and I am certain this was not happening before.

Has anyone else noticed this? It is extremely annoying.

Just adding my name to the list of people having issues. I am unable to purchase gems as I get an error that the card verification failed (multiple cards) or the transaction failed (PayPal).

I had this issue this last weekend (9/8-9/9), then it worked yesterday (9/10). Now I am having the issue again today (9/11).
