Ok, so from what I understand GW2 is really grindy now(I remember it always kin of grindy)? And what about the dungeons and guildhalls?
I left GW2 a couple of months after fractals were released. I rejoined when the new specializations were released and left again as I got distracted by ESO.
However I have not played ESO in months since the PvE content became lack luster. Dungeons were the only challenging group content. And the remaining content did not scale and was quite trivial if you grouped up with 1 or more players. So I was not really satisfied as a PVE player.
Anyway I am not here to talk about ESO, I wanted to give some context to what kind of content I am looking. So naturally my main question is, will GW2 satisfy my needs with HoT?
I have stalked the forums for a while now and I cannot really put a finger on it. I heard positive things but I also heard some worrying things that dungeons were gutted, Guild Halls are a mess, WvWvW and PVP are a mess.
If someone could give me some info so that I could make a more educated guess wether to return or not.
Thank you in advance.
I haven’t been playing since after wintersday. So I wanted to ask how the state of the game is right now? or does it still have problems like dead zones for example, dead dungeons or class balance for example?. Or was there a significant change in the time and has the game really improved?
So even Wow is also dying because there isn’t as much population as the beginning… Weird classification of a dying game.
pardon my language and no offense, but really sherlock? wow is dying? well that’s about time after almost a decade.
The fact is people are worried, the maps feel dead, people are transfering to other servers because their own server feels dead. Now if this was a mmo that was two or more years old this would have been understandable. But given the age of GW2 this should not be happening. And the fact that more and more people are saying that maps feel dead should raise warning signs. its normal for a mmo to die of at a certain point. But its just the signs that GW2 is giving of are worrisome.
The best solution to solve this discussion is when Anet would release numbers of player activity troughout release. If those numbers show that the playerbase has barely declined well then I guess people were right that the game is not dying.
But like I said before GW2 is treading a slippery road. So we will just have to wait for the upcoming updates will bring to GW2
For me and my friends it is.
Same here, all my friends and guildmembers started to leave slowly one by one. and most left after the lost shores. And by winters day basicly everyone was gone. Short after that me and the handfull of friends and guildmembers also left.
I occasionally log on to see if someone is online but the guild and friendslist are a necropolis.
Now before you all start flaming and saying that I pull stuff out of my kitten Relax if you enjoy the game fine by me. But in the time when I played quite frequently, the areas felt really dead and no I didnt play in the middle of the night. It was a real pain in the kitten to find a group for SE for example. And judging by forum topics and ingame chat, alot of people switched servers because they feld their own server felt dead.
Now you could say that your server is fine and that you see a lot people. But in my opinion a mmo this young should not have these issues. And it should definitely not have people asking questions like is this game dead? Or, where is everyone?
And I think GW2 is currently treading a slippery road. I tink it is make or break for the game with the upcoming large updates. If they screw that up a bit its over.
ok, fanboy raging aside….
I enjoyed the ride I got a for €50 no doubt about that. But it will be make or break for me.
I already was on a break I just started logging in recently. And I am looking for a new server with an actual active population. But I am still sceptical about it. With the dead areas, dead dungeons (SE), loot problems, trading post culture ( it sometimes feels as if I am playing a stock broker simulation) and lobby culture I am tilting toward the side if just leaving. But I will see how it works out maybe its just the server I am on, maybe if I server switch it get better.
But honestly it reall feels like the population is declining and personally I would say I give GW2 a maximum of 6 months till the point where only the hardcore players are left and where pve will be mostly dead. I am not saying this will definitely happen but it does look bleak in my opinion.
Now don’t get me wrong I don’t hate the game. I enjoyed the ride but right now there just so many issues.
In conclusion I just want to say the jan-march patches will be a definite make or break for me, but I do not have high hopes for it with the current issues and state of the game.
ok thank you for the info, Seems like Desolation os full at the moment. So I will have to wait till a spot is open. But if anyone has more suggestion they are greatly appreciated
And yes I play on EU servers sorry I forgot to mention that.
I just recently started playing GW2 again, after a break I decided to give it another shot. And since there is a major patch planned for february it will be make or break for the game.
But I am looking for a new server where the population is active in PvE and WvWvW. I am on blacktide currently but the server is quite desolate. So if anyone knows a good active server please let me know.
For the people who skip it boils down to 1 thing.
Note: 99% of people complaining on forums are people whining about why people skip trash, and not the other way around where people who do fast speed runs complain about trash killers. Want to know why? People who do things successfully, quickly, efficiently have nothing to complain about.
No the people who think skipping is an issue just want to enjoy the game, they dont want to take the easy way and just skip stuff. But it just seems like stated before people just want instant rewards.
Some of the people are not gold farmers that just want to do everything quickly. But alas it seems that people will always take the easy way out.
If Anet would have suggested a “skip button” to dungeon most would welcome it with open arms.you may call skipping successfull or efficient, you can say whatever you want you may say that I complain and whine. But in the end it is the skippers who are just lazy and filled with greed who will take the easy way out on every possible opportunity. And sadly this will not change, these days people only want instant results. And they forgot about the road that leads to those rewards.
Lastly I just want to say fine skip all you want, but I will not. And I hope that those who want to enjoy this game to its full content will refuse to skip as well.
The easy way out? Would that mean trash mobs are hard to kill?
I am completely fine with you enjoying the game by not skipping the mobs. However, I cannot for the life of me understand why you can’t be fine with me enjoying the game by skipping the mobs.
Maybe it has something to do with the fact that you are a very loud minority who can’t find enough like minded people to do non-skip runs, so you resort to crying for an official statement or a “fix” to the non-existing problem.
actualy I thought at the beginning that this was an problem, but it seems I am the minority in this case. So I either adapt (wich I wont do since I hate skipping) or like people stated before I make my own group/guild who doesnt skip. And since like with most things we have a two sides here and we can go arguing about this for ages. There will be always people who want to skip and those who dont.
anyway for those who dont want to skip in dungeons just add in GW2 I am on the blacktide server.

Gw2 seems to have a skipping culture. In every dungeon most of the people want to skip 50% of the dungeon. Now I can understand that you skip something that is just really FUBAR and you party wiped 2 times already, that is kind of understandable. But skipping almost half of cof path 1? really? the dungeon takes like 20 min max with a reasonable party, and the rewards you get for that are really profitable.
When I ask why people want to skip, most of the time they respond : “lulz fast runz”
Now in my opinion this is an issue and something has to be done about it. Because skipping is just like reading the first and last page of a book because otherwise it would take too much time to read.
My suggestion is:
1. either make the rewards considerably lower in dungeons like cof path 1 and 2 that can be done really fast.
2. make a system that the more you skip the lower the rewards are. Could be done by adding more events in dungeons and the less events you complete the lower your reward will be.
3. make skipping for a majority impossible. (this would be rather extreme)
I would say option 1 and 2 would be the best. You want to skip most of the dungeon?
No problem you can still do it but remember that your rewards will be considerably less.
I play MM/Condition and I love it. The build above is what I use.
I’m only level 67 so I cannot get the ideal gear but as I level I just stacked up condition, no matter what piece of gear it was on or what the other stats were. Condition is king.
Early on I could do group event bosses, but since they changed them to be immune to fear they are tougher, but some are still doable, it just takes a ton of minion management and keeping those conditions rolling.
I can also take on regular mobs 3-5 levels above mine, I suspect this is about to change as I get closer to 80 though.
Seems like you are a lucky one with the minions since their AI is really kitten and the only management you can use are their skills…..and I think minions will be pretty much one shotted by mobs 3-5 lvl higher. So I dont know if you are playing a different game or a just verry lucky with the minions. because 99% of the players has severe problems with the minion AI.
Same here…or even worse. Since the patch the game wont even load to the character select screen it just crashes…..I had no trouble whatsoever the game ran perfectly. And now I cannot even start.
Ps. I checked every driver and system. nothing is wrong with my pc.
Update: restarted my pc. Got it to work capped the framerate to 60 and changed the option from windowed fullscreen to regular fullscreen it seems to work for now. But I still dont trust it, Anet should look at this.
update 2 : Ok pardon my language, but this is bullcrap. everything else works fine. Borderlands 2 works fine, Skyrim works fine. But GW2 just randomly decides to crash. It crashes in game or it just crashes before it loads to the character select screen……

I have searched trough the forums and have found 1 suggestion on this. But still I am going to suggest it again.
Since There is a lot of discussion about ranger viability and diversity, I would like to suggest that Rangers can equip a quiver in the second weapon slot when using a bow.
The quiver could give some extra stats, or instead of stats it could give some other kind of boon or special passive. Now its Just an idea nothing more nothing less.
In my opinion this would make the ranger class unique in ranged weapons. it will be something that would give him an extra edge over the other classes in ranged combat. This way the ranger will be an unique class excelling in ranged combat. Because right now I am hearing a lot of people saying : “why roll a ranger when a warrior is better in ranged anyway?”
I am not going full glass cannon build (but since this a mmoRPG I am rolling a norn barbarian). With gear I go for power and vitality mostly. So what skills are advised upon to take in dungeons? Because doing map completion I am mostly using signets.
I especially find the healing signet usefull since it regenerates health.
tips and tricks would be helpfull…
I recently started playing my necro (lvl 38 now using staff. and scepter and dagger off hand) again after playing as a Norn warrior (lvl 31) Sylvari Ranger (lvl 74). At first I continued playing my necro as a minion master but I soon found out that the minion AI is just derping, and the minions die within seconds And I still get all the aggro instead of my minions. (I am NOT playing WvWvW or PvP by the way)
So I though ok no problem I just change my build and things will work out better. so I replaced my slot skills with wells. And I am putting my trait points into spite, curses and death magic. And I still feel kind of weak…..With my ranger I could at least keep enemies at bay. But with my necro I just cannot seem to do that. Sure the wells do quite alot damage but the cooldowns are quite long. I even have trouble in areas where I am down lvl’ed.
So what am I doing wrong? Or is just me or does the necro feel kittened? Could someone give me some tips and tricks?
Hmm guess I will switch builds for a while. I like the whole curses thing. But in GW1 it just so cool to roll as a minion master
.
And which traits are bugged? if they are as bugged as you say hopefully Anet will fix them ASAP.
For now I will just rework my necro into another. But like before : “Tips, tricks and advice would be gladly appreciated!”
Recently I started playing my lvl 34 necromancer again (minion master). ( I already have a lvl 74 Sylvari Ranger) And is it me or does it seem like the minions just don’t live up to their job.
Now I have been digging in the forums and it seems that minions only scale with traits? or do they scale with your stats? because right now even when I am down lvl’ed in an area my minions still die within seconds even when I cast my well of blood.
And the minion AI seems to be derping around like mad and 95% of the time all the mobs target me my minions don’t get any aggro….. and at boss fights they just get 1 shotted. They just feel so worthless…I know they are not supposed to be godlike but it feels like a minion master is just no worth it, or am I wrong?
Basicly my question is : "Will a minion master get better at a higher lvl? Or is it just not worth rolling a minion master at the moment?
Tips, tricks and advice would be gladly appreciated!
Must have missed that statement. Well I guess it is kind of a shame they did not do it. then its topic closed :P. But did they give reason why they did not want to follow trough with it?
I never played alot of MMORPG’s but the ones I played I always enjoyed rp’ing or playing on a rp server. Now I for one would like to see a rp world in GW2.
I know there could be some issues with especially since you cannot write your own story and you basicly choose your background story. But I guess that could be overlooked. maybe there could be some extra things in a rp world. Bur I do not know if that would be fair/possible against other worlds.
Now my question to the community is :
“would you like to see a rp world implemented into GW2? "
and if yes please elaborate why, and if you would like to see some "extra"things in the rp world.
Hello,
I Currently have a Norn warrior (lvl 35, almost 36) And right now I have the Hoelbrak set that kind of looks barbarian. Well except the helmet that looks like total balls.
But I was just wondering if someone could point me some areas out where I could get a barbarian armour set? Especially the helmet…
I also checked out the cultural armour sets for the norn. And the heavy sets are almost all plated armour with some bare skins areas. So could someone also tell me if there are any end game barbarian sets?
