I like the voice acting! It’s a million times better than in GW1. I still remember at some points when my character spoke he had emotion then BAM halfway through factions he went from “Let’s go and save people from Shiro’s corrupted!” to “OH NO. THERE ARE CORRUPTED. INITIATING BATTLE SEQUENCE.” Sound bug or what I don’t know but I muted the game after that becuase he sounded so monotone!

I do agree with the people saying there should be some variety especially in the PC’s since a human noble sounds the way he should but a thief on the street still sounds slightly sophisticated.

As for the rest of them, Charr are amazing both genders, Asura have the best lines and they have Felicia Day so they win no matter what. Humans I mentioned above. Sylvari are amazing plus I believe the fem pc is Sheena from ToS (didnt know that until i listened closer) and Norn I like but they seem a bit forced at times.

Yeah I have one in my bank that I keep for previewing new hairstyles/face styles. i wish there was an “Asuran Facial Reconstructor” that when you talk to the NPC it shows you all the options you can use and also fiddle with the sliders. It wouldn’t hurt anyone or profits for anet since you’d only be able to preview things and the only way it would be able to change your face would be the 350 gems or having a makeover kit in your inv.

I have been spending alot of time recently in the CP and even before that I’ve always seen Rox and Frostbite and just went “Awwww what a cute little Devourer!”

Now why are our devourers nowhere near as cute!? Yes a strange statement right there but I do like the devourer pets and liked them as enemies way back when in GW2. When Rox’s and Braham’s weapons were released I was excited and hoping for the gemstore to carry a Pet Skin similar to what the Black Moa, White Raven, and Black Widow are, a pet you can get in the HoM or home instance that has the same skills as whichever type of devourer frostbite is. Even if it was a reskin of Frostbite but of a different color! I just can’t help but look at those cute little eyes and go “Aww…. my asura ranger would be even more awesome with a cute little devourer”

Hopefully I am not the only one who would pay money for a Frostbite pet skin?

That’s the best insult you can come up with? I’ve dealt with test skritt that had lobotomies that could come up with better insults. Granted they mumbled and drooled on the floor but that may be because they heard your insult.

I’ve been looking for an answer to this as well! I want all the songs on itunes not just Fear Not This Night (which mind you I have already bought!) and I dont like the idea of having to use a youtube to mp3 converter since thats a very grey area (some people say if its for personal use its not illegal while others say hell no it is illegal!) and I’d rather support the game further by buying the soundtrack in its entirety digitally then resorting to shadier methods to obtain this soundtrack. Please ANet, GIVE US THIS SOUNDTRACK ON ITUNES!!!

Not necessarily. Depending on the mission you pick when you are asked by the pale tree what is your biggest fear, you may come across an NPC pair that are Asura and are happily married. Tonn and Ceera do seem to be odd in the sense that Asura like may have said go for intellect mostly but not necessarily the sense of companionship that the sylvari go for. Tonn is more romantic then Logan since he mentions his wife at least 10 times a mission before you meet her. And when you finally meet Ceera she says alot about Tonn that shows her love for him. At least she returns his love unlike LoganxJennah… Asura just are the best!

Asura Rangers are one of those combos that make people scratch their heads and go “huh” but its not as uncommon as say… a charr mesmer?

As nerdy as it may be I like to come up with at least a little bit of a backstory for any potential characters to see if it really makes sense for the combo, if not, i go and make something else.

For my Asura Ranger, Beastmaster Zakk, I see him as an Asura whose parents had extensive interactions with the Sylvari as they started to sprout more frequently from the tree. From a young age Zakk went along with his parents to learn more about them (and lets face it, Asura = Master Race) and thus learned to enjoy nature as few Asura do. While in the Grove a young Fern Wolf became attached to Zakk and Zakk took it home with him and referred to him as “Experiment Z” to appeal to his college instructors and parents though in secret he actually calls him “Ziggy.” (I actually change his name in game to reflect this. Nerdy I know.) While he has a love of all things nature based Zakk’s study on the fauna of Tyria granted him extensive leave of Rata Sum to go and collect a sample of all tameable Tyrian life. To allow Zakk to study these creatures in his lab and as companions, one of his first inventions was a small device Zakk refers to as the TAMER (Tyrian Animal Molecular Essence Relocator) to allow him to transfer the animals to and from his lab. (Hooray for me showing my nerdness!) He wears Asuran armor as he feels it is the most practical in his studies. His eyepiece has a zoom lens that allows him to fight at range better and he uses Asuran tools in combat (Radiation field anyone?)

And look at that Fern Wolf! Isn’t he cute? Even when he photobombs me….

Asura Guard: All that knowledge… lost. I agree with Taimi in that she could have taught us much. If only she was on our side instead of trying to kill us. At least we are all safe.

Sylvari Thief: No poison I wield could have damaged Ceara like the poison her mind suffered. I share my sorrow with the Pale Tree. It is never fun in having to kill a sister.

Charr Necro: At least she’s dead and gone. I’m a necromancer. I know what dead is.

Gah! Forgot to add these to the initial post! I am having WAY too much fun with this! I want an everlasting bobblehead tonic or some food that gives bobblehead effect for ten minutes! I want to fight elder dragons with my skull! Emotes with Charr BTW are exceptionally hilarious!

Working on my jumping puzzle monthly with a gigantic asura head… oh well. Bigger skull = more brain room for the Asura master race!

The thing is with NPC headgear showing in cutscenes (BTW WHY DONT WE HAVE THAT OPTION I SPEND GOOD MONEY ON NICE ARMOR!) I dont think those NPC models have hair to begin with since they never need to be toggled in or out. For example, the seraph in the human PS opening mission was bald and so were a bunch of other characters.

It’s times like this I wish I did more PvP (Meaning: At All) To think about how much loot, dyes, money, etc. I can’t…. I can’t even comprehend that… Good job there though Marvin! You’ll likely get maybe ONE celestial or abyss dye from that XD hahahaha!

Wow. He’s really cool looking and I dont usually like that face. What skin and eye tone is that? I like the combo and cant seem to find a match in the character create screen. The rock effects are cool too! Good timing!

Sorry that was SOOO off topic! Yes but there are many hetero relationships in game even more so then the homosexual relationships even though they are at the moment more prominent. CaitheXFaolain and KasmeerXMarjory being the two that are commonly mentioned though it seems as if CaitheXScarlet/Ceara may have been a thing?

I would enjoy this so much! Yes the champ train would be drowned unless they adapted to underwater which wouldnt work… Bandit would drown likely and the rotted oak would become the Champion Waterlogged Oakheart (Truth be told I would love that!) but i think it’d be cool to see a lower level zone have more water areas in it. Even though I am not a HUGE fan of the underwater areas I thoroughly enjoyed Frostgorge because of its uniqueness and water areas.

If ANet makes “Bubbles” areas primarily underwater I would hope some areas in the game would flood or things like the OP posted happen so that its a gradual introduction.

I wanted to make an Asura Guard (I did) but could not find the colors that were used for the “Inquest Extinguisher” NPC’s. I don’t know which ones they are and im 99.9% sure that the eyes are one of the ones from the Makeover Kit but the skin is what is getting me.

If anyone could help and post pics of their Asura that look like it and tell me what skin tone/ eye color you used I’d be grateful!

People can knock TTS if they want, but some of them took the time to guest to GOM and lead us in killing Teq the first time and help our commanders learn it. If you’ve done Teq you know how boring the setup and wait is.

So knocking people that are willing to do that to help some guilds and pugs is just plain pathetic.

Granted I do not think that the game should require people to use teamspeak and other out of game resources for communication but I understand the need to in these big events. Bravo for having dedicated groups and the ideals to go after these major events.

Here is Camhnoir, my guardian who is only level 22. I NEEDED to transmute the T2 armor down since of all races IMO Sylvari NEED to wear their cult armor. I will one day have him wield the juggernaut which was originally destined for my warrior.

I have had some norn in the past. A ranger that I got bored of and deleted due to the hideousness of the male sword animations…. and my current norn, an Engi.

Give us living stories that have titles like flame and frost (TITLES, not GAMEPLAY like FandF) I can’t tell you how much i researched on the web and how much i looked for that would lead to a clue or something that would reveal whether jormag or primordus would be coming at the end… instead we get charr-dredge alliance that turned out the be the first of many of “Scarlet the Omnipotent’s” alliances… Woo!

I literally just sold all the T3 mats that I have saved over release so that I could afford to buy FIFTY FRICKIN DOUBLOONS! It angers me that I have to sell EIGHT (READ IT EIGHT) types of materials just so I can buy fifty of ONE type of rarer material. And do not tell me that the jumping puzzle method is how I should do it. That’s no way to play and i tried to do it and over three weeks (5-7 days a week) on four toons I got 2 doubloons. That is outrageous… and yes they were at the optimal level for that crap method.

This seems like such a non issue.

People will still see your super special T3 armor and know you paid 119g for it. Nothing changed there. Hell, the gem store version even gives you less flexibility in looks since you have to go with the flame motif with it. The t3 doesn’t.

Maybe get gear you think looks good and stop worrying about other people?

But the fact that you can get fiery version of tier 3 human light for all races is an issue. I cant play human theif and get norn tier 3. But any light armor can get human tier 3. Unless they put all t3 in the gemstore, there is exclusive t3 armor for everything in the game except human light armor wearers. wait whaaat? u cant see the issue?

Not saying it’s good. Not saying it’s bad. I see your both your points and sadly at this time we have no idea if the other T3 lights from other races will show up with different effects. Frankly I find the t3 human much nicer than this since the fire cant be dyed AFAIK but would I love to see my Asura mesmer in Norn T3 or even Charr T3 since their blindfold doesn’t have that ugly mouth piece as well (makes me feel like Voldo from Soul Calibur!)

Uncovering lost lore
Characters are brought into an instance that has them fight new enemies known as “Lorekeepers.” These Lorekeepers appear to be made up of the five races but with the ability to bring to life the books they hold dear. Once these waves are brought down by the combined efforts of the player character and the Durmand Priory they find a map shows five locations in Tyria, one in each of the five racial zones, where five pieces of the Arcanaeum Key are lost and must be found. The player must then overcome five puzzles to reach these keys which are guarded by a “Loremaster” a master lorekeeper. Each of these Loremasters hold a piece of the key and a book covering the culture of the race whose land they are in. When all five keys are combined the player may open the Lost Arcanaeum and discover the secrets inside.

Arcanaeum Awakened
The player must now fight through a dungeon filled with lorekeepers and loremasters who hold the secrets of Tyria with help of Magister Matthias. The five books the player holds now come to life and the player must delve inside to close them and end the Loremasters hold on the books. These five books contain a battle relating to the history of that race and the player must fight through each one and kill the Loremaster within in whatever order they choose to close them.
-Human Lore Battle: The player fights alongside Gwen and Kieran Thackeray as they fight through the charr to make it to the location of Ebonhawke.
-Charr Lore Battle: On the Plains of Golghein the High Legions of the Charr fight against their enemy, the Flame Legion. The player joins Kalla Scorchrazor as she fights against the Flame Legion with the rest of the charr.
-Norn Lore Battle: The Norn fought bravely against the Elder Dragon Jormag but the Spirits of The Wild led them away to safety as to prevent the extinction of the Norn race. The player joins Asgeir Dragonrender as he flees Jormag’s minions, just having removed the dragon’s tooth (NOTE: No elder dragon is seen in this )
-Asura Lore Battle: The player joins a group of Asura as they fight against the destroyers that have razed their homes, sending them above ground. The player witnesses the first settlers of Rata Sum before it became the city it is today.
-Sylvari Lore Battle: The player sees the planting of the seed of the pale tree. They battle alongside Ronan as he finds the seed of the Pale Tree and meets Ventari, the centaur who carved the Sylvari’s beloved tablet.

After beating all five books, the player must destroy the head Loremaster, clearing the Arcanaeum of the Lorekeepers’ prescence. The five books that the player fights through fuse into one book that the player can access to see a cinematic scene about the event they witnessed in the fight. Magister Matthias rewards the player character with access to the Arcanaeum through a personal portal in the player’s home instance. Inside the cleared Arcanaeum the player can read books on various lore subjects and talk to the shades of the dead characters from history. Since Deesa was involved with the discovery, she finds out that the Arcanaeum has also become a Fractal in the Fractals of the Mists (with the players fighting through only one of the books chosen at random)

Rewards For The Event
-Players would receive the Tyrian History Volume 1 Book that allows them to see a cinematic of the events they battled through. (I say volume one because we all know it could be expanded.)
-Each player would be able to choose a Loremaster Weapon skin after beating the dungeon (Soulbound on Acquire) These weapons would have a visual effect of runes and letters of the various Tyrian languages floating into the weapon as if it is collecting the knowledge.
-The gem store could sell Lorekeeper Armor Skins for the three armor types.
-As the player experiences their personal story a mysterious pedestal appears in the explorable Arcanaeum that allows them to witness their history (like the personal story book) through the cutscenes the player saw throughout their personal story based on the choices they made. This book would be called Biography of Character Name and would grow as the character completes the personal story and living story with each stories scenes appearing in their own “chapters.”

This is what I would add to the game to make the lore accessible ((Sorry for the Double Post! It wouldnt fit in one!))

Regarding GW1 lore in the game, I think it’d be really compelling to have in-game books or some other delivery device to allow players to immerse themselves in Tyria’s history.

On the idea with the delivery service I just imagined getting something in the mail from an Arcanist from the Durmand Priory to start a Living World event based on Lore and collecting ancient records.

Everything about these last updates surrounding this tower is awesome except that song in the background… Where is the good voiceover covering what we may face (Hell I’d have been glad if it was Scarlet doing the VO for the preview!) I want more songs like “Fear Not This Night” this is fantasy we are playing not hard rock! XD

I always agree with these posts since I could find an excuse to buy all those town clothes on my other chars but sadly I will not waste 700 gems on a set of clothes that will only be seen in LA since thats the only place people really flock to unless a LS event makes them go elsewhere…

ANet was able to do so with town clothes in GW1 where you could wear them over armor and even if an armor version of these would be available id shell out the 800 gems easily! I just dont understand why no ANet dev has said, “Oh we can/cannot do town clothes in GW2 like we did in GW1 because of XYZ” At least then we would know either way!!!

I don’t agree with that mindset (oh just park a low level at a JP) but i do agree it requires time and effort. For people who don’t have the time to play daily and make money, they should not have to rely on parking one of their characters at a jumping puzzle.

I do not disagree that the recipes for the legendaries would be different amounts but the methods of acquiring the silver doubloons that are currently in place are not effective… especially with the price increase.

That would be awesome! We do a meet few characters from the book (sadly in no other forms than just town/zone NPCs) and though the DR crypts would make an awesome dungeon, sadly ANet hasnt really used the stories other than filler from the gap between GW1 and 2. Dougal’s group IMO would have been better than Destiny’s Edge!
