I’d like to think the sylvari have more to do with the dragons then simply “we came we dreamt we conquered” that is clear in the story. A lot of these theories are well thought out and this one has to be the best IMO. I believe the nightmare court will be at least to some extent minions of mordremoth. I think that they would make better villains/minions because they aren’t undead following zhaitan and their base instincts to kill anything alive. They aren’t the brainless destroyers of Primordus or the corrupted and changed people/animals that make up the minions of Kralkatorrik or Jormag. to me this makes the NC much more of a dangerous foe. Think of TA story mode… Without revealing who the last boss is for people who haven’t done it it is implied they will return and we have yet to see evidence of that!
I want a sylvari thief and want him to look cool but the issue is that the cultural med armor for sylvari isnt really attractive and the full TA set doesnt strike me as very thief like. What combos of armor (with some of the cultural sets not the full thing) do you medium armor sylvari wear or use? if you could post pictures too that’d be awesome!
1. Dervish WITH THEIR ARMOR STYLE AND SCYTHES! I would love to hear ANet bring back dervish but if they’d bring it back without their scythes and the hoods and robes i’d be mad. Id play one, but id be mad.
2. Class specific armors. Keep the armors that you have now but in the future add class specific armor. That was something that made guild wars 1 awesome. You could be playing with a Mesmer, a Necro, and an Ele and know which was which from their armor. This is more of an aesthetic gripe but to me each class should have at least 1-3 sets of CLASS SPECIFIC armor.
3. More races with unique animations. The Largos and Kodan beg to be played, their cultures, style, and appearance would be awesome to see also to add to their story. If other bipedal humanoid classes would be added I would hope though they’d have unique animations unlike human and sylvari which share the same animations…
Please! I want my Charr in his Chef gear to run around spitting blue fire everywhere!
I’m sure people will flame me for this but its an opinion I had ever since I started doing map completion to 100% so I can one day work on my legendary/ies. WvW really shouldnt be a part of the 100% needed for the completion, the achievement, the title, and other rewards that come with it.
As a 99.9% PvE player being forced to go into WvW daily to see if certain places are available it kind of destroys the desire to complete maps. In PvE if theres a place contested its not going to take the next cycle of WvW lineups to possibly clear. If your trying to get to certain places in enemy territory people arent going to just “give up” the chase halfway through like PvE mobs. Those WvW’ers are going to hunt you down and they will kill you.
Now I do see some pros to it and I will list both pros and cons to the WvW in map completion:
Pros:
-Will draw players into WvW that may not choose to normally.
-Forces companionship (to those who want it) to get to hard to reach areas with help.
-Makes people spread out in WvW.
Cons:
-Can scare casual players like myself away from the achievement.
-Forces companionship (those who DON’T want it) to get to hard to reach areas with help.
-In enemy territory its going to be harder than the 80 zones to get max completion.
-It’s literally doing the same hearts, skill points, POI’s and Vistas, 3x in a row. This is because the three borderlands are the same exact style. (This is a whole other issue but one i feel needs crediting in the cons. Make the three zones DIFFERENT ANET!)
tl:dr: Make WvW not a part of the World COmpletion!
I was recently scrolling the Guild Wars 1 wiki and was looking at the lore and ended up on the Guild Wars Beyond page. While on that page I was reminded that there were plans for more ideas in GW: Beyond after Winds of Change but since future content has been discontinued for GW1 that means there are a lot of untold stories for the characters that we interacted with over the years.
For example (taken directly from the wiki:)
-After Winds of Change, there were going to be “things people are going to be surprised by” that the Live Team would not discuss. (What would these ideas be!? I want to be surprised!!!)
-There were going to be Lunatic Court quests, unrelated to Keiran’s return or Winds of Change. Their attempts to free Mad King Thorn, as well as other activities during Halloween 2010 have attracted the attention of “someone else” looking to return to Tyria. The Nameless Lich was thought to have played some part in this. (The Nameless Lich didnt interest me at all but would Dhuum have tried to escape?)
-As part of the Elona chapter of Beyond, ANet suggested they would expand on the story of Palawa Joko and continue that plot thread, which was left dangling in Nightfall. (I would have loved to see Joko beginning his rise to power over Elona.)
-Another story idea included the disappearance of Evennia, last seen in Old Ascalon during the Krytan civil war. (Where did she go!?)
I would love to learn this stuff or at least what was planned. ANet released ideas that would have been used for the third expansion of GW1 that never made it why cant they release the information for things we will never get to see such as the things I listed above and some other things like: how exactly did our character’s story end? what did our heroes do after the fall of the great destroyer (we really only know about Gwen and Keiran and that Pyre’s grandaughter freed the Charr women from their miserable situation)
If any ANet lore-masters see this, please give me and others who love the lore and the stories put into these wonderful worlds some clarification of whether we will know what was planned for these stories or if there are books in game/ articles we can read on the wikis that give us this information!
-Thanks!
So we get this doll on the trading post… She is free and has a little story about belonging to a girl that lost her life under the piers of Lion’s Arch. (A little upsetting and grim if you ask me…)
So I am curious as to what people think Polla is for? Will she have a purpose? Will she be “powered up” after an event line like the Mad Memories book?
What do you think? (The wiki has told me nothing…)
I will admit… albeit rather shamefully… I sped through the Holo kills achievement because very early on I had to deal with kittens on some maps taunting in map chat that they beat other people to it. So, the obsessive compulsive person I am reacted and went nuts in the higher level areas to get the achievement. Eventually i worked with guildies and PUGs in some maps which is what we need to do. I agree with everything you are saying though TC.
Would i love to get the Jade GS skin? Absolutely, Its awesome! But I know the chances are low and even with them being rare in common coffers i will likely not get one but I have the whole month to do so!
It’s awesome that ANET is doing the Meta rewards as a part of a whole rather than “you need EVERY achievement to get X item.” By this model I was able to get my Sclerite Shell and also i’ll get the shattered wings too! I don’t and won’t save up the 100k candies for the solids. Not worth it but we can still get the shattered ones!
I agree the fast flapping on asura which already has the appearance if needing to run faster than everyone else will get on my nerves when I get the shattered ones.
Yeah… The camping is what is going to kill this event. The coffers even with their low rate of drops for jade wep tickets I can ignore because reg coffers are dropping easily. It’s the camping I can’t condone. I actually had someone say in map chat to me today “got there first and I’m gonna get all of them first” how I wanted to report them… Make the piñata and effigies as player only! The refugee signs were and other event things… I don’t know how’d you do the holo spawners since they make mobs but figure out a better way please…
Quaggans and Largos. Two sead-birds, one stone. Id buy char slots for both!
Meh. I disagree with the naysayers that say Derv and Rit will never make a comeback. I also despise people saying Guardian=Rit because of summon weapons. No No No.
I am sure if and/or when ANet puts Dervishes to discussion to add to the game they would definitely need to rethink them. It probably would be hard to do but then again think of the bosses in GW1 that we had to capture some Elites from. They werent all human.
Dervishes had the Avatars but since ANet is not going to give racial-profession elites since the balance wouldnt work they could simply remove them and have the elites be based around the wind and earth like dervishes were or just have basic Avatar elites such as: Avatar of Dust, Sand, Tempest, Storms, etc.
Dervishes could make it in as they were an important inclusion for the Elona expansion and I would find it weird that they would not add them again. I would see the biggest issue being the armor since the armors in this game are not profession specific but are classed together.

I love this guy! He is going to be my first 80 that i DID not craft some levels for and he will be wielding the juggernaut one day. I don’t care if he’s just an asura!
Crusader Zakk: An asura unlike his brethren. Born with a love of hammers! He also dyed his hair blue.

not going to get an argument from me on this issue on the cutsie stuff.
ooooooo I can wear a plush bear cap on my head how exciting!!!!
please note sarcasm.
I am enjoying the random temp skins. This adds uniqueness to those that are able to get these skins. On this note though I must add. Sometime the requirements are way to high for a skin. Legendary is one thing, but a skin??
This! or at least allow us to do what we could in GW1 and wear our costumes over our armor. I do not spend enough time in LA or the other cities to enjoy my chef’s armor. I want to be a Charr Mesmer chef running around Tyria!
As I play through the game and am working towards map completion, occasionally certain events pop up for people to do as groups (Champions of the Sun in Caledon Forest is one) and occasionally these events have NPC’s that announce something in the chat and out loud to what I believe is to gain the attention of players in the area.
Note: Wall of Text below. You can read the BOLD words to get the gist of what I’m saying.
Now here are the issues:
1. They announce way too far from what their events should be announced. Example: In Caledon forest the Champions of The Sun Meta Event for fighting Xolotl. Xolotl announces herself way too far away. Caledon at one point seems to be split where the Dominion of Winds wall shows up. At that Hylek village across the water from the crafting area is is where I began to hear her announce the event when she is actually closer to the end of the zone! I understand the purpose of announcing the big events to draw players in but from almost halfway across the zone seems OVERKILL which then leads me to point 2:
2. They repeat themselves SO kitten MUCH: Ugh I could get over the fact these NPC’s seem to have hidden loudspeakers throughout the zones if they didn’t repeat themselves so much. I actually stopped mapping in Caledon Forest for awhile because I heard Xolotl ‘yell’ “Prove the sun shines through you! Face me in another form!” so much it actually began getting stuck in my head. Another example is the Charr event to collect cannonballs. I learned during the beta weekends to dread that area because of hearing, “Have I told you how much I hate skritt?” so much and to this day that charr is still annoying.
My remedies:
1. Reduce range of these “shouting” NPC’s.
or
2. Reduce the amount of times they announce. If we are hearing them the orange event box will show up so I dont think we need to hear “Prove the sun shines through you! Face me in another form!” and, “Have I told you how much I hate skritt?” that it begins to annoy the players.
TL;DR:
The Problem: Some NPC’s in events speak too loud from too far away and some announce the same thing over and over.
The Solution(s): Reduce range or frequency of hearing these NPC’s very repetitive scripts or both.
Thank you ArenaNet for an otherwise wonderful game!
Cryptus Corpserazor loving his undead friends and also the shadow behemoth.
8.5/10 Anrael almost sounds like an elf name maybe sylvari but Bloodwraith is an awesome surname!
Deleted some of my old Charr but I now have my FINAL three! (Ash and Zarric were already entered so I wont repost them!)
Cryptus Corpserazor – The necromancer of the Razor Warband. Secretive and dark in humor and personality, Cryptus is a loner and finds comfort in his necromantic creations. His constant companions are his Bone Fiend and his Bone minions which he lovingly calls his pets. He likes to frequent dark swamps and tombs to train and learn new methods to his necromancy. Being born in Ascalon he is in the perfect environment to hone his dark skill!
What’s better than a char necro? A char female necro!
Sorry for double post but she looks awesome! What armor is that?
Hes only in Cabalist armor but I love him and his name!
Cryptus Corpserazor!
Also the photobomb by the behemoth with the portals just adds lots of necro goodness!
My intended armor look is some Arah (maybe) some TA (make it look like dead leaves) and who knows what else!
As much as I dislike the mushroom head design the name is pretty good.
7/10 since its not just “Shroomy” but it lost some points since it seems kinda Asian to me.
Galen of The Dusk: Sylvari Engineer. Wears planty armor but also some techy armor. Loves explosions and fire and to others looks quite sadistic when hes playing with his flamethrower (which is a lot.)
Rahnuil of The Dawn: Guardian. Just started him and found an equivalent form of my grandfathers name Ronald and I liked it.
I had this same problem for my Charr Mesmer. FIrst it was what armor will I want? (Heading for TA!) Then it was the name. Since I like using Z in my names obviously I wanted to give my charrmes a Z name. I picked Zarric for the first name and then when I came up with the last name I looked at my other charr whose name is Shieldrazor (guardian) and decided to make them warband mates and since hes a Mesmer I picked Mindrazor. And thus, Zarric Mindrazor was born!
I agree 100% with the “herr derr wait up gais” statement. The offhand holding gets me so mad that my guardian only uses staff gs and hammer
Now needless to say I can give no proof other than what happened to me but I bought a rare level item that on the TP is worth about 30 silver on the trading post for the lowest seller.
I have recently gotten into using the TP as a source of income (not using any game breaking methods or exploits just basic trading) and clicked on the wrong box for sell price and was going to undercut for about 29 silver and a key stuck causing the price to go way too high (in the hundreds) and i pressed sell. Now the listing fee for this cost me a large amount of gold that I worked hard to earn.
My suggestion to ANet if they see this is is there any way to implement a feature that if a sell/ buy price is a certain amount higher than the average to give a “Are you sure you would like to list this for 1000g 29s 50c as the average price is 30s 0c?” Needless to say this would help prevent this mistake from happening again to me and anyone else who this could easily occur to?
NOTE: Yes I realize this is a stupid mistake.
WHat does LOS stand for? Trying to figure that one out and im sure its something I know… :P
I always thought the mesmer was fun, even in GW1. But now, the mesmer is a whole new kind of awesome.
I remember back in GW1 grouping was near impossible as a mesmer (at least it was for me, and i considered myself at least competent!) but now the mesmer has grown into something else.
Granted I do not see many level 80 mes’s around but whenever i do a dungeon I usually have one or two mesmers with the group and they can hold their own. In a story dungeon one of our mesmers actually was 1vs1ing a champion and doing fine.
What are some differences from then and now you see and want to share?
Because they are the most fun and a charr Mesmer us kitten even with butterflies! (love the filter bad—- becomes badkitten perfect for charr!)
Playable Quaggans. That is all.
I will support mounts as long as the only mount available is an asuran clapping two coconut halves together as they follow your avatar about. The most rare versions could say things like “neigh, I am a horse” or “run, bookah, run!”
Oooh, that is a brilliant idea! Also, in WvW the NPC archers on the stonemist walls should shout something like “Your mother was a skritt and your father smelt of omnomberries” “Go away or I shall taunt you a second time”
Ha! I love this and the Asura idea as well but no on the mounts. Like other people said most if not all the classes have a +25% speed boost so theres really no need for mounts. My only reason for mounts would be a flying mount in some Tarnished Coast areas to get to spme of those floating islands and maybe some kind of water creature to get around ocean areas faster if there are large areas of ocean if/when the Sea of Sorrows becomes more open if we get to fight ‘Bubbles’ but even then i doubt it.
To start things off:
1. I LOVE this game!
2. I LOVE this profession (just started one and find it the most enjoyable if not a bit challenging. People dont lie when they say Ele=High LearningCurve)
My issue with the elementalist is that their attunements seem to be forced into roles (Fire=Damage, Water=Healing, Air=Mix, Earth=Cond./Defense) which IMO conflicts with ANets whole play how you want attitude. In GW1 I did not like the Ele at all. I used them for my heroes and henchies but that was it. The elements were forced into roles and if you wanted to deal damage with water HA! you couldnt do it well.
When GW2 was announced and the Ele was revealed I instinctively thought “Well I’ll be ignoring that one again.” When the videos released showing the teaser of skills my attitude changed. I saw the ele as a class that could be a WIDE range of things and thought i could finally have my water themed mage that could kick kitten Now granted the ele can deal damage with all four elements but it still is fire’s forte while water is left to do the healing and some damage.
I just need to rant and say why cant each of the weapons give a damage focus to each of the elements so people who want to do damage with water/earth/air as a primary damage dealer can?
I’ll use staff as an example with Water as damage dealer role seeing as water HAS 2 HEALING skills on staff!
Water, change skill 3- Geyser: Causes a geyser to erupt at target location causing damage and knocking down enemies caught in blast. Skill 4- Frozen Ground: Causes ground to freeze at target area and erupt causing ice shards that bleed when opponent steps on it. Skill 5- Tsunami: PBAoE skill causes a large wave to erupt from caster knocking opponents back and causing damage.
To make a long story short: Each element should have a weapon where they are the primary damage dealing role.
Thank you for reading!
Racial sympathy is a great part of the story! It allows us to experience and see the other races of Tyria and help them out. That being said I do have some issues with personal story choices and races. NOTE: Sorry for the wall of text!
Humans (Hylek, Quaggan, Skritt): No issue with these choices. The humans could have had any racial sympathy due to their central location in Tyria of Kryta.
Charr (Skritt, Ogre, Grawl): Not really an issue here either except the Skritt don’t really strike me as very Charr-y. I do know there are skritt in Charr areas but I dont know… skritt and charr is not a good mix IMO.
Asura (Grawl, Hylek, Quaggan): Probably the best trio but i’d swap Grawl for Skritt oddly enough. Grawl arent really located in the Tarnished Coast and why couldnt an odd asura work with the skritt (Snaff strikes me as the type that would help them out.)
Sylvari (Hylek, Quaggan, Skritt): All good but just like humans the Sylvari’s natural curiosity could work in their favor towards any race.
Norn: (Ogre, Grawl, Hylek): This one bothers me most. Ogres are big and brutish and i could see the norn working with them since the Charr and Norn lands are close together. Grawl same as Ogre reasoning other than swapping ogres brutishness for Grawl’s shamanistic tendencies. Hylek I cant rationalize… Norn are Shiverpeak based Hylek are Tarnished coast. Yes norn travel but during Jormag’s rise, the Quaggan and Kodan were seen more in Norn lands. Why do the Norn not have Quaggan? Why Hylek? There arent any in the Norn lands AFAIK!
TL;DR: Racial sympathy is fine but why do the norn have the weridest trio?
Anyone else agree? Disagree? Have any of your own opinions?
Woo post 100! (I think XD)
Singa Sabertooth 8/10
I do like the name and the reference to the Sabertooth tiger (wish there was a pic shes probably very kitten!) The one thing that im meh about is the first name since im reading it like Sing-uh but if its Sin-Guh i like it!
My two charr:
Baeron Beastrazor – Charr Ranger of the blood legion. Born with an innate skill with animals, Baeron hatched a Devourer of his own and named him Venomtail. Though part of the Razor warband (razor being the suffix of the surname) Baeron is a lone wolf and often goes on single missions with Venomtail.
Zarric Mindrazor – Charr Mesmer of the Blood Legion and Baeron’s littermate. Where Baeron specialized with animals, Zarric specialized with manipulation. Some say that the skill comes from his Ash Legion mother, also a mesmer, but Zarric was raised in a Blood Fahrar, so blood he is. Very uncharacteristic for a blood legion, let alone a charr, Zarric is oddly pleasant but sadistic when it comes to seeing his enemies squirm due to his illusions.
Hello! Recently i was in Lion’s Arch and wandering around when I saw a player with the ANet Symbol next to their name (the red Arena). I told my guildmates and they advised me to post this (im looking at you Simply Electifying! :P )
So which Anet members have you seen in game? Post a screen if you have one!
The picture is of me dancing with the ANet member “Wide Charr” at Lion’s Arch!
Well asura seem to have short one or two syllable names (zojja, snaff, robb, gixx, etc.) Their names also for the most part have a repeated consonant. Using your account name you could use Mopp as a name. I used the short version of my name (Zach) to get my asura’s name of Zakk. Also female asura names occasionally end with a vowel (zojja, oola) while males end with consonants (vekk, blimm, gadd) but i do believe there are exceptions from both games. Hope this helps!
Rhaegar Nightclaw! Charr Guardian of the Blood Legion and Member of the Durmand Priory! Love the picture of him on the seat!
Here’s Galen of The Dusk
lvl. 35 Sylvari Mesmer
Would you play as a quaggan should more races be released over time? I know i would in a heart beat! I know there are people who say the largos would be the most likely for an aquatic expansion but the quaggan are much cooler in my opinion. Racial Elite: Quaggan Angry need i say more?
Where is it and where can i find it please?
For me both work i just can’t stand when people use asuran as a singular.
Ex. I made an asuran today! The animations for the asuran are awesome! (that hurt to type lol)
I’ll say i made an asuran ranger or asura ranger. Both work for me.
As i have been playing this game with many different characters among the five races, I have noticed that the sylvari only receive racial themed weapons (excluding karma and TA themed weapons) from a few select personal story missions. In all the other racial areas the characters receive weapons based around the dominant race in that area. Now my question is why do the sylvari areas not have plant themed weapon drops? It kind of destroys immersion with the plant based sylvari when they are receiving Glyphic weapons in their drops in their areas.
Examples:
Charr area gets a STEAM Weapon drop.
Asura area gets a GLYPHIC Weapon drop.
Human area gets a KRYTAN Weapon drop.
Norn area gets a SHIVERPEAK Weapon drop.
Sylvari area gets a GLYPHIC drop? Why this? Thanks for any answers that prove otherwise and if not, hopefully ANet sees this and may change it!
NOTE: I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.
I would. I would pay to play as a quaggan s well without the need for an expansion!
Loving the game but the personal story choices at creation made me upset as i played on. Why have us make choices that don’t do anything other than put anpc in the home instance?
Ex:
Sylvari: cycle
Asura: mentor
Charr: none as far as ive seen good representation from personal story choices.
Human: god choice
Norn: totem animal
All of these choices should have had a storyline or npcs that were active in the personal story NOT a npc in the home instance you may not know is there?
Love this! My charr Mesmer is now awesome
Because charr are awesome and they have Dinky.
