I’ve been having lag spikes during prime time for a while and recently I figured out that my ISP is throttling port 6112, a port used for several game services. If I force the client to use port 80 instead the lag goes away.
I pretty much stopped logging into the game after the Ascended gear was introduced. I don’t mind the new gear but I hate that they made it accessible through PvE only. I tried the FoTM and hated it as much as I hate all the other instanced dungeons. Maybe when they let us obtain it through WvW I’ll start playing again. Until then I’ll continue to lurk the forums and play Planetside.
It’s been mentioned that there will be ways to attain ascended gear through WvW as well eventually.
That’s great and all but they didn’t specify when. My problem with this is that they made it available through PvE first while ignoring WvW. I hate the idea of a PvE dungeon grind to acquire gear for WvW. The only thing I do when I log into this game is WvW. I tried FoTM once when it first released and I will never do it again.
I think that’s the point of the combat sword icons that pop up on your map. They’re there to give you an idea where skirmishes/battles are.
Personally, I would love to see my teams location on my map in wvw but I could only imagine how that would be exploited by people with multiple accounts. So for that reason I would vote against it sorry.
I think the orbs are one of the problems that needs to be looked at.
WvW is only fun on Friday’s when players are pumped for a fresh start. Once a single side holds all 3 orbs and gains the hp & stat bonuses (which they don’t even need if they were able to get them in the first place) it appears the other servers lose motivation and give up trying.
Also, why does the unmanned buff give +karama and exp? Doesn’t it make sense to swap these buffs or something?
I’m all for rewarding the better pvpers but I don’t think this system is sustainable long term if the goal is to have a fair/positive wvw experience.
OP, thanks for posting this review. It summarizes nicely my own thoughts about this game. I’m still playing though but I’m hoping and expecting improvements before I dish out anymore money on future expansions/gems.
I saved all my karma from leveling. At 80 this granted me over 80k karma. Then I farmed cursed shore events with karma boosters. I also do a lot of wvw so the events there also give karma.
Personally, I have already grinded enough karma to buy a full exotic armor set. However, recently I decided to play with a different build but I now require gear with different stats. Normally, I would just grind out the karma and leave it at that. However, with DR in its current state, I dread acquiring another 252k-ish karma.
Therefore, it would be great if we could get a feature that allows for partial karma refund on exotic gear. Maybe not a full refund but a reasonable percentage of the original cost (ex. ~ 50%-70%) would be nice.
