Power or Precision?

My balanced build:

Attack: 3K
Armour: 3K
Crit rate: 49%
Crit damage: 79%
Health: 15-16K

all without food and I run 0/10/30/30/0 with either AH or Monk depending on the situation so being able to deal damage and survive is more than possible.

I don’t see how this is possible without Food buffs or oils/stones. My traits are the exact same and its tough to get these stats with the buffs and all the ascended pieces currently available.

@Brutaly
That’s close to what I have, though I’ve got 30 in Honor at the moment. Looking back, I think I was referencing some of your earlier posts about having 17k health in sPvP and nearly 16k health in WvW. I can see now where you sacrificed stats in those cases (armor and crit chance, respectively).

I think the difference that I need to make up in health will be in adding Runes of the Soldier to my armor – I’ve got Crests of the Magi at the moment.

Maybe you were referencing the stats I posted:

Attack: 3034
Armor: 3057
Health: 15,715
Crit Chance: 49%
Crit Damage: 52%

These can be achieved while mixing in food while wearing Knights Armor w/Pack runes and mixed Jewerly of Beryl/Emerald/Ruby Exotic.

Also it sounds like someone is confused on Sigil of Perception since its different then Accuracy. Perception allows up to 25 stacks of Precision and you will benefit from this even if its slotted on your secondary weapon like a Staff. So in essence this can give you a 10% bonus instead of the 5% Accuracy gives while still allowing you to use Sigil of Blood on your Hammer.

I may be making some other changes too like the sigils. Currently I’m using the Sigil of Accuracy to get to 49% but I’m thinking of using Sigil of Perception on the Staff and change the Hammer Sigil to Sigil of Blood since I’m using the Omnomberry Pie already. Sigil of Perception will get me to 55% Crit Chance instead. What are your thoughts on my new Runes/stats/Sigils/etc?

Just to point out, Omnomberry Pie is for Magic Find, the lifesteal food is Omnomberry Ghost.

Actually, I’m correct. Omnomberry Pie is 66% Lifesteal on Crit +70 Precision.

I have been doing some new numbers grinding with the addition to food in my daily routine and here are the numbers I’ve come up with. There are some sacrifices that i had to make in order to get these stats(namely Superior Soldier Runes). Heres the stats:

Attack: 3034
Armor: 3057
Health: 15715
Crit Chance: 49%
Crit Damage: 52%

I changed my runes from Superior Soldier to Runes of the Pack for all benfits of more boons with 5% chance for Might,Fury,Swiftness, 165 Power, 100 Precision, and 20% Swiftness boon duration.

Why so serious?

No one said anything about muscle memory my friend, just a simple discussion on how things have progressed(digressed) so far. Honestly, I think retaliation should be completely removed from the game, it offers no strategy in my opinion.

Can’t the same thing be said for Confusion? I’ve actually read discussions over the difference between the two and the majority said Confusion is the more powerful of the two. But I haven’t seen any Confusion adjustments going on.

Guardian Role. Is it "Support Only"?

Here is my take on Guardian and our weapon sets/skills back this up. We as a class are a cross between a Warrior and a Wizard. So basically we are Mage Knights. Does this include support, sure all the classses can fill in a support role even Thiefs. But we are not limited to that in any way, shape or form. We can do DPS/Tank/Support roles just like all the other classes. It will basically come down to how your speced and what skills/weapon sets your using. If anyone makes claims that we are a pigeon holed class and can only do support functions, then don’t listen to them, their clueless anyways.

So we are Gandalfs!

I’m sure Gandalf is in the smallest health pool also, so yeah why not. We can use the Staff like him plus have access to the Sceptor/Focus. Which are also Mage items along with the Trident.

Most annoying class to deal with in WvW?

I’m not surprised that almost of all votes are saying the two Stealth classes(Thief & Mesmer) are the most OP in WvW. Doesn’t this happen in all MMO’s, the stealth classes come out of the gate OP and then they eventually get nerfed so the game doesn’t turn into Stealth Wars 2.

The GS heal only does 25 health per target. I dunno but that doesn’t sound like very much to me.

I was gonna switch to hammer anyway.

Your right, there is alot of good traits in that line. I was constantly changing my decision on which 3 to use manly but I might be finally narrowing it down. I don’t know how so many of the crithammer builds only go 20 points in the Vitality line. There is over 6 really good traits and the extra healing/health is always welcomed.

I think its possible to get to 111% Crit Damage with full Berserker Armor/Jewerly but then your extremely Glass-Cannon. With all Knights Armor and Berserker jewerly, its possible to get to 75+% Crit Damage.

I’m kind of at a crossroads now with gearing my Guardian. I’m not sure if I should try to get more Precision/Toughness and lose some Power/Vit/Crit Damage in the process or leave him as is. All my gear is exotic and I’m running the Superior Soldier runes with 3 shouts. Anyways here is his current stats:

Attack 2,898
Crit Chance 38%
Crit Damage 67%
Armor 2,897
Health 16,715

I’m thinking of using the Superior Sigil of Accuracy on the Hammer to push my Crit Chance to 43%. So what your guys’ opinions, should I leave it as is or should some of my stats be higher? Also do you think Sigil of Accuracy would be a good one to use in this build or is there something else I should be using.

I am running full Knight’s (rare), including weapon (exotic) AND jewelry (green) at the moment, to push my crit chance to 46%.

I am hoping that as my jewelry upgrades in quality and I collect more exotic armor, my crit will push higher so I can start swapping some items out for Berserker or otherwise.

At the moment I have:

Attack: 2622
Crit: 46% (30 crit damage)
Armor: 3143
Health: 14,455

So my survivability is fantastic at the moment but I’m itching to push my damage up as my gear upgrades.

I have no idea how some people (like Zarovich) are getting the numbers they are.
I can only assume as everything becomes exotic, and I can swap over quite a few items from Knights to Berserkers, it starts to become more well-rounded.

Melizande, In my last post I listed the equipment pieces used which includes all exotic pieces. I guess it helps too that I’m a 400 Weaponsmith/Armorsmith/Jewelcrafter.

Ok I did some number crunching to work the Superior Runes of the Soldier into a build in order to get the most out of Shouts with Pure of Voice/20% Shout Reduction etc. Here is what I came up with, someone can double check my figures if they want to verify it.

The Armor set is 5 Knight pieces with 1 Aurora Chest piece with Superior Soldier Runes.

The Jewelery set is all 5 Ruby pieces.

The back slot is the Berseker quest cloak with a Ruby Jewel inserted.

The Weapon has the stats +179 Power, +128 Precision, +9 Crit Damage

The stats for your character should be these roughly if my math was good:

Attack: 2988
Crit Chance: 40% 45% (With Superior Sigil of Accuracy)
Health: 16175
Armor: 2763
Crit Damage: 75%

With all the number crutching I’ve done the past couple days, this seems to be the best combo for stats while being able to get the most out of Soldier Runes/Pure of Voice talent etc.

If you look at the stats, your very tanky with great offensive capabilities and high crit damage at 75%. This build I made with using 3 shouts as skills, “Hold the Line, Stand your Ground, Save Yourselves” for solo play and switch out “SYS for Retreat” in WvW.

Comments are welcome

Brutaly or anyone else..
Did anyone here actually test the crithammer using a gearset with power/vitality/toughness?

I’m a horribly poor planner when it comes to spending karma and gold on my gear, so atm I’m looking at a
long grind to get new armor.
My current gear is mostly berserker’s and after switching to the hammer I feel that I could use a more
“tanky” gearset.

My question is; Should I just go for Knight’s or is power/vit/toughness better (in sPvP)?

Today I’ve been going over the numbers to work in the Superior Soldier Runes for a build. I figured this would make Pure of Voice/20% Shouts Reduction and a 3-Shout build even more powerful. So what I’ve determined is that Knight’s Armor set would be optimal for this Rune set while using the same Jewerly from my other build listed above which is Knights’s Amulet, 2 Berserker Rings, 2 Berserker Earrings. The only real change from the stats above is Crit Damage drops to 63% and Crit Chance drops to around 35-36%. But Health goes up to about 16.7k and Armor goes up to about 2900.

I could offset the Precision loss by changing weapons from Corrupted Sledgehammer to any of the ones that provide +128 Precision instead. Also a Beryl Jewerly piece could be worked in to offset some of the Vitality loss too.

So my question is: Is the combination of Pure of Voice/Superior Soldier Runes/20%ShoutReduction/3 Shout skills powerful enough to lose 8% on Crit Damage and roughly 5% on Chance Chance?

My dilema with Crit Hammer is which traits to use. I’m speced 0/5/30/30/5 and its been tough to decide if I want the Honor traits to be 20% Shouts reduction/Empower Might/Pure of Voice, or go with Larger Symbols/Empowering Might/Healing Symbols.

I use to use 20% reduction on 2Handers but there are too many good traits in Honors that I want and a 1 sec reduction on Mighty Blow was an easier one to cut then any of the 5 listed above.

I’m thinking if I go with the first group that includes 20% shout reduction etc., then I’ll most likely also use three shout skills instead of my typical 2 shouts (Hold the Line, Stand Your Ground) and Signet of Judgement. Between Retreat and Save Yourselves which would be the best shout to use in the third spot? I’m thinking Save Yourselves for all the boons it provides even while solo.

I’ve done the math between the Armor/Runes/Jewerly, my stats should be roughly as follow:

Power = 2900
Crit Chance = 42%
Armor = 2750
Health = 16k
Crit Damage = 71%

Do these look like good numbers? I didn’t want my Health and Armor to be too low otherwise I could of gotten Crit Chance and Crit Damage alittle higher still. Also these number are not based on Spvp gear/runes either.

The Armor is 4 pieces of Knight’s Draconic/2 God temple pieces(Helm with Precicion/Vit/Healing, and Coat with Power/Vit/Toughness). The runes are the Ranger 5 piece with another from a different set that adds +25 Precision(can’t remember the set its from). Jewerly is all Berserker except the Amulet which is Knights.

I haven’t decided on the sigil for the weapons yet. Still debating on which to use. My weapons sets are Hammer/Secptor and Shield.
