Ascended materials? Fine, makes sense even when the cost might end up being higher than just buying the thing.

Scavenger hunts? Actually a good idea, but this is coming from someone who enjoyed getting Bio-luminescent gear.

Memories of Battle? Ok I guess, sucks that they ONLY come from rank up chests but you have to do wvw to get badges for gift of mastery anyway.

Shards of Glory? Stop. Stop right there.
You need 100 shards of glory for a one-handed precursor. 200 for a two-handed.
The ONLY way to get them is greatly spaced apart pvp track rewards and pvp dailies. You get 2 from dailies and 5 from pvp track rewards. That’s 50 dailies (and not all dailies give these) or 20 pvp track rewards that happen to give them. double these numbers for two handed weapons.

Why? Why force people to do a metric kittenton of spvp? I personally hate spvp and avoid it at all costs but now to finish crafting this thing is will take hours upon hours of grinding something that not only is there no guarantee that I’ll get much progress from a match, I can’t even check when the next time a reward track gives shards of glory, making it feel like an endless slog through something I hate.

Maybe don’t make terrible changes that nobody would ever think wouldn’t have terrible backlash?

I know Anet doesn’t do a lot of it, but they could think about that for about 4 seconds and realize this was a bad idea.

I reckon anet does it more than other mmo developers.

Maybe more more than Everquest ones, since they pretty much have starved to death by now, but even their desiccated zombie corpses wouldn’t be likely to try and and eat an anet employee’s brain.

Anyway, none of the specific changes have been announced. It’s the usual, “sky is falling” attitude of this forum, or perhaps some gamers in general, feeding into the doom and gloom. As was mentioned, dungeons are a broken gold faucet that have long needed to be and are being nerfed. The qq is being justified by lofty notions of dedication to content, but the heart of the matter is that mommy took the teat away and now the broken farm can’t be exploited any longer.

Have you been in a dungeon… ever? If you had, you’d realize putting up with these buggy messes of what passes for pve content should reward us at least enough to be worth the time.

If you really care about broken gold sinks, ask for a sw nerf. SW is 10% (or less) of the work as a dungeon for 5x, (now probably 10x) the reward just for running around and tagging kitten.

They don’t warrant abusive posts. I wouldn’t want to field posts like that as part of my day job – I imagine devs and related people don’t either.

Rifles. Give Thieves kittening Rifles. Give them a ranged Condi option that doesn’t get nerfed to useless because pvp baddies whine about it. Also, we need a class that actually uses Rifles like Rifles. Engineers use them like shotguns and who the kitten actually uses Rifle on a Warrior for anything other than jerking around?

Patch Notes:

Thief’s pistols have their barrels extended by 2-3 times the sizes. Range also increased to 1200.

As someone who mained thief before is was d/d zerker meta or bust, I’m feeling your guys’ pain at the reveal. Honestly, I think you guys are even worse off than thieves in a lot of ways. Where we are just getting our only useful mechanic denied (stealth, thanks scrapper) you guys are having your profession mechanic (pets) entirely abandoned and changed so you can be healers. At least thief still has dps…

In regards to the “the elite specs were meant to help classes branch to where they couldn’t go before and try new things!” argument, while it was marketed that way that’s clearly not the case. Rangers are turning from kitten dps to awesome healers, thieves are being changed from sneaky backstabbers to monks of peace and balance. What changed in warrior? …oh, nothing. Still big brutish dudes killing stuff. Guardians get bows.. but they still do the blue fire and have great defense. Mesmers get chronomancer, and they already had things like timewarp. Necros get reaper (obviously still fitting their existing theme) and the greatsword isn’t even their first melee weapon. Eles are still doing the same thing, too. Engineers get hammers, but all their abilities were basically melee to begin with, and they are still in the “machines and kitten” theme.

So why, for the love of all that is good and holy, do Rangers and Thieves get at least one core part of their class changed entirely? Druids are still in theme partly, just with a huge focus on nature but their entire pet thing is being thrown under the bus. Thieves? We still have steal, but it’s getting ignored too, as nothing is being added to it (except a small endurance gain as a minor trait) meanwhile, our theme is totally changing after getting shafted in updates for years.

Does anyone not realize that this makes thief even more worthless in any pve situation more than before?
Why have a thief for TA, CM, Arah, etc when you can have an engineer and stealth on easy mode?

Seriously where is rifle, and when can I apply more than 2 bleed stacks at a distance? I don’t want to play a monk, I want to play an kitten that steals warrior banners as he passes and tags the mob from 9000 distance away. Where is my 360 noscope elite skill? Anet please stop looking at WoW’s monk and being like “ooh that’s cool, but we already have a class for this expansion, oh I know, let’s kitten over thief even more, and try to make it completely different from what it should be.”
