I like it. That’s one of the things I really like about GW2 in general, is that there are so many viable builds. I do something similar but still a bit different, by going with a sword in the main hand, and axe in the off-hand, but still aim for the crits like that.

The greatswords are even more egregiously oversized. They look like they are 4-handed swords.

I kept changing my mind on dye colors for about 2 hours after I got my Tier-1 Heavy set together. I finally settled on this.

The casting animation is fine.
I hate the floaty dandruff effect. Irritating.

My main is a Sylvari warrior named Arbract.
The name came from combining Arboreal (tree-like) and Bract (specialized leaf).

My understanding is that yes, you will still benefit from all of the stats and bonuses of your gear, as compared to your actual level. The mathematical model for downscaling should be scaling everything proportionately, so if you have a set of level 80 rares, you’ll still be better off than using a set of level 80 masterworks, but walking into a level 40 zone it’ll feel as though you’re level 40 with level 40 rares. At least, theoretically.

I’m wondering if it has to do with the item being from the gem store? I use transmutes like this all the time on looted and vender-bought gear. I haven’t tried it on anything from the gem or karma stores.

I’m used to WoW’s way of handling targeting in a lazy fashion— auto target on first attack, then keep attacking the same target til it’s dead. If I try to do the same thing here in GW2 with multiple nearby enemies, it does what the OP is describing and keeps reselecting targets for each attack.

Signet of Rage is awesome.
I don’t like the visual effect when it’s not active, though. It’s especially distracting in towns.
/agree.
I don’t like the visual. I keep having to switch out my elite before taking screenshots. It’s just distracting and unnecessary.

Very nice analysis, EasymodeX. Thank you, that will help me down the line.

I finally finished out my Tier-1 armor. I like it so much I may not bother to upgrade the appearance to other tiers. We’ll see.

I run longbow, sword/axe for PVE right now.
Used to use rifle but didn’t care for the slower cool downs.
Love love love when a DE has clusters of mobs: longbow fire (2), aoe bomb (3) switch out weapons and become a top of whirling axes and win.
Yep, yep, yep! This is how I work too. The whirling axes + sword bleeds simply do wonders. The whirlwind with the axe is simply amazing in damage output, builds adrenaline, doesn’t root you in place, and hits everything around you.

Wow, this is really good to know. I’m adding some stun-breakers to my bar ASAP. Bye-bye signets!

Don’t feed the trolls.

This photo is from about 15 levels ago, so it’s not identical to my gear now, but not too bad. I’ve gone primarily with a dual-wield with sword and axe.

I had assumed early on that the GS would be my main weapon. After playing with it a bit, I switched to a sword+axe combo and never looked back. A sword in the main hand still gives you a charge-attack (a leaping one, btw), and the axe is still pretty fun as an off-hand weapon.

I agree there’s an issue with people not really getting the idea of the transmutation stones until well after they’ve sold off something that had an appearance they really liked. I didn’t figure out transmutation stones until way down the line myself, well after I ditched an axe I would have preferred to keep the appearance from.

Yeah, I think you have a problem. So just stop it!
I’m not a lore expert, but I think if all of the classes are supported by all of the races, then the lore has to support it, either by previous lore or by adapting to the new game. I’d go with what works for YOU.

I’m enjoying the fact that the game has subtle incentives to help each other. For instance, no one yells at your for kill-stealing when you help them, since they still get their XP for the fight. This inspires people to be helpful in other ways. The community in-game is definitely a more helpful and pleasant one.

This is why I stopped crafting 3 or 4 MMOs ago. I find that I lose money, since I’m not the kind of crafter that tracks down all the rare recipes and mats for the stuff that people want.

I love my Warrior so far, and have been going for a mostly DPS build. But to put it in perspective, in WoW I played a cat-feral druid, and in SWTOR I was a Jedi Shadow with a utility sort of spec.
The Warrior makes for an aggressive play-style where you need to stick to your targets like glue and burn them down, though it does have decent ranged options with the longbow and rifle, with which you can switch to kiting when going up against a tougher target.
The guardian strikes me as being more like WoW’s paladins, but I haven’t played it to compare.

Yes, I believe there is a limit on how far they can travel from their starting location.

I only played my mesmer for a few levels, not enough to get the hang of it, but enough to see what it’s all about. It strikes me as a class that requires a bit of finesse to play, and a lot of the mesmer’s success comes from well-timing the abilities that destroy the illusions. Since they explode after you kill your enemies anyway, you might as well pop them early for the added effects. But you don’t want to pop them too early, or you lose use of them for more of the fight than you might want. It looks like timing is pretty crucial to maximizing your effectiveness.

Agreed, the appearance there should reflect what you have set on your character. It’s irritating that it differs. I hope they fix this, but it’s arguably a pretty minor detail.

Armorsmith makes boxes, I believe, not weaponsmithing. Unless I’ve missed something.
