Guild Wars 2

Note: This is not a theory or anything like that just a person noticing things around the game that seem to co-relate to the Sci-fi hit Stargate.

Has anyone ever noticed that GW2 has what seems to be plenty of Stargate references through out it. Between the Asura gates basically being an in game version of a stargate, the exalted basically being more like the ascended version of the Ancients from series as a whole. Right down to the Asura themselves. I’m not sure where I heard it. I think in SG: Atlantis they make mention to the name they gave (or have on record for) the replicators being the Asurans. Though till it was over the Asurans were trying to mock being the ancients as it were. So they could in theory create and augment the gate network. Similar to the Asura in game. Minus the whole being made of metal they do certainly have the brains behind them.

Honestly speaking as a nerd this is an awesome kind of easter egg as it were, if of course that is true.

Hey all, recently bought the game, running it on a macbook pro 13inch 2013 model. The launcher will not load the game for me and it displays this error message:
Coherent host crashed
A serious error has prevented the application from continuing.. etc
A report has been sent to ArenaNet to determine the cause
I am confused as to why this is happening and would like to continue my virtual adventures.. Please help me

Honestly speaking I run on windows so that is a whole new ball game over on mac.
I hope you find your resolution though.

One solution you can try is to find what would be the application launch icon and modify its path to include -image at the end of it. That worked best for me but again windows solutions usually don’t work on Mac errors.

Try putting -image in the shortcuts properties target.

I was having issues with the launcher crashing with the same c0000417 exception and it’s downloading now.

The target should look something like this:

“D:\Games\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -image

I’ve been playing since headstart and never once experienced this problem until I updated to Windows 10 on a completely brand new computer.

The -image trick seems to have worked. I’m currently at roughly 1gb of data downloaded where as before I was lucky to see 180mb. Thank you kindly.

So I just dropped the extra $52 (total that is) on the HoT update. I have been looking forward to this expansion (not so much the price mind you) since I heard about its release. Over all I have been playing GW2 for three years now and I have never had an issue with updates or the launcher.

This being said I get to the launcher and it starts the update just fine but gets so far into it (honestly its more random than it running into a single file that it cant download) and it just crashes with the error: Exception: c0000417

I’m wondering if anyone has run into this or has fixed it…
I’m really itching to play again since I reformatted my computer a while back and never got around to installing it again until I dropped the money on HoT.

Some other information:

I’m running Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
32GB of Ram
A Sandy Bridge Core i5 Proccessor
and my old Nvidia GT240 Graphics card
(Laugh if you want LOLOLOLOLOLOLOL – But it worked just fine last time I logged in – Never got around to having the funds for something major league just yet..)

I have tried just about everything I can find on the matter as well. Like using the -repair functions and so on.

I don’t know if ISP means anything but I’m running with Verizon FiOs as I have been for the last three years and I have yet to run into an issue until now. So here we have it… anything else?

I am at the BLTP in QueensDale but I have yet to see one of these mythical BLAT’s I have seen talked about above?

I bought a costume last year for Halloween, I was wondering if I delete my character and start a new one is there a way to transfer the costume over to the character in question? Or will it die with my character?

So I read some place that all future game content will be released free. Does this include game expansions?

So I was just in Lions Arch on my main character Ifrit Satara waiting on the update for the new content when Someone suggested we start an Occupy Lions Arch. The one I’m taking is more or less a fun meet and greet to get players together before the event starts. As well as to take some of the time of to get some socialization going!

So no matter what server… OCCUPY LIONS ARCH!

she is only level 11 right now but sooo much fun!

This character is going to be more for role play reasons but I also want her to stand up on her own in combat if need be.

The basic jist of the character being centered around using a Staff as a main weapon with a scepter /focus as a side. Other then that I am at level 11 right now with one point put into blood magic.

Any tips would be great.

I am personally stoked for it… but Working Monday – Friday on App development Kinda takes up the most of my time, which is one of the reasons I love the fact that this is not a Subscription game is that I do not feel Obligated to play due to the fact that I need to pay into it. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

On topic:
I personally feel that the Halloween Event could use a continuation, but at the same time maybe rounding it up to an even 10 days. Maybe ending it with a Social “Ball” or something at the end for players to meet up do some event related RP or just sit around and talk.

Point being:
I guess I’m on the fence….

Oh my… I guess this means that GW2 has its own PETA now xD…

I suppose my necromancers summons will be considered abuse as well (IE: The Pokemon Black and Blue Thing xD)

All kidding aside that was kinda adorable.

Anyone who says no is nuts, I realize that NO mmo is perfect but for the price I could not beat this. Plus the added perk of not having to pay monthly! This game so far has been a dream come true I just wish I had more time to play it!

Over all Wonderful experience. Neither overly challenging but not incredibly simple. On my main character I only have three percent of the map known. And I’m looking forward to seeing what other adventures are in wait!

Active: Usually anytime after 10:30pm EST (Most days its after 12:00am) Till I pass out (Ranges from 2:30 – 4:30am)
Additional Comments:
I am new to the game… Then again who isn’t still.

Other then that I have a human necromancer I am looking to get some play on so if I am not on Ifrit drop a line anyway. (Necro’s name: Veronika Nightroad)

One last thing, I’m usually trolling the forums during “work time” which is what ever time I rise at(10:30 am – 5:00pm) so feel free to drop me a line on here if you want to hang out or something!

Just an idea for all the people out there that want more from their characters. So why not a place to post up Ideas for Roleplays or to get crits on their characters back-story and so on and so on.

Might be silly but it was something I was a little shocked to not see.

I have been playing for two days now, My beat em up tank character is doing quite well since I just got him up to level 12. Granted I don’t play it like most people but, when I do its usually after 12:00am my time(This can vary of course). I do however Play on a Role Play centric world so while all the bashing is great it is awesome to take some time and just take in the local sights and do some In Character play as well.

Other then that I just recently kicked up a new necromancer character, so far I love the game play on her! However I am not far enough into the game where I can start messing with just how much she can do as she is only level 2 encroaching on 3.

To top all of this off, my friend in real life is part of a guild that is based on Heavy RP so while I am off killing things to make my Alt stronger I always have the chance to take a break and do the RP as well. I have yet to get accepted though so right now I am just messing with the game and getting used to how things work ETC

Lastly: By far the BEST 60$ I ever spent on a game. When the bonus content comes out I will be ready for it!

There is always the option to get into Role Playing, it be in cool with a High Level Alt. However, starting from scratch and finding a guild that does RP can make the story that much better in some ways. It gives you a better sense of immersion then just running around bashing things with a group of Juggernauts. (Not that this is bad… my first character was just that!)
