Cool, then gonna wait.
Just to make sure, is there any type of currency that you need to farm that is tied to daily log in?
Mostly because sometimes I don’t feel like playing and I don’t wanna feel like if I don’t log in I’m losing something HUGE.
Sadly yes, this is why I’m mostly getting away from MMOs.
I wanna play when I feel like it, and if I want to grind 10 hours straight I want to do without losing anything.
Every MMO has now dailies, endless dailies, if you do not do them, you fall behind.
Maybe I want to play other games, but no, you gotta do those dailies.
I think this is the reason why MMO fail, you don’t play them because you like them, but because you have to, and along the line you forget what you actually liked about them.
I know a lot has changed. I do not plan on getting the expansion for now.
Should I roll a new character and enjoy levelling?
Is there a best solo class? I’m planning on slow levelling, enjoying things, story, and absolutely NOT doing dailies/weeklies.
I will play when I want, I hate the daily system in every game.
What should I roll? I remember rolling a guardian, and to be honest it was boring. Low dmg, low hp, warriors would destroy me on PVP, I didn’t survive at all.
The first thread was in General Discussion, someone suggested he try Account Issues instead. It seems a mod moved the first thread shortly after he made a new thread about it here.
Yep, that’s what happened. Apparently I can’t use Anet name:

Then Ill keep complaining. Until I get banned or until I get my Gems back.
You wont get either. Your just wasting your time. Have fun with that though…. like a little kid that didn’t get his way and thinks throwing a fit will solve the problem eyeroll
Not wasting my time. Have plenty for this. And ill keep doing it.
Then Ill keep complaining. Until I get banned or until I get my Gems back.
I suddenly had 5 Chars Slot, when I wanted to buy 2. I know have 10 slots.
I wanted to take advantage from the sale and have 2 more slots, up to seven, which will almost allow me to have each slot for each class.
Now I have 10 slots.

Purchases from the Gem Store are seldom refundable, and in this case we are not able to provide a refund of your purchase. We encourage you to exercise care when conducting all your gem transactions.
I am sorry that we could not fulfill you request in this situation, but please let us know if you have any other questions we can address.
Regards,
I bought CHAR SLOTS, I didn’t buy something cosmetic or something I used and didn’t like.
I think it’s quite different. I DO understand what you’re saying, but in all honesty it’s not something you can dislike and request refund. And yet you did exactly that.
I have sixteen character slots. Even if you don’t use them now, someday they’ll come in handy, and now you know not to keep clicking the “buy” button.
If this happened to me, happened to a lot of people. Most people might not care, but I do. Therefore I’ll be spreading unconsciously a negative message and experience about buying something from the Store, which will lead to no more charging money for me.
I might be only 1 person, but there are others who had the same experience.
I know for sure I’m not charging any more money into this game. Now I know if I make a mistake, which always happens, Anet won’t care, will ignore me and laugh with my money.
I already know that I will never have 10 characters, because I lack the time to do so.
Thanks for your input anyway. Despite what you think, won’t stop from complaining and spreading the lack of support I had from Anet.
That’s why you don’t keep pressing the button until something happens. When you’re waiting for the elevator, pressing the button repeatedly won’t make it come any faster – but that doesn’t stop people from doing it. The habit gets carried over into online activities, where there is a buffer that holds all those button presses and while it still won’t make things happen any faster, when it empties it will actually apply all those clicks.
When buying something, you click the “Buy” button once and wait. Failure to do so means you’ll be getting fifteen copies of the same book from Amazon or something. Most people figure this out pretty quickly.
As for why they won’t refund the gems, it’s standard policy. They cannot tell whether you made a mistake or just changed your mind. If they started doing refunds like that then they would be swamped with people who made a mistake, changed their minds, realized the item wasn’t as cool as they thought it was, or just got tired of playing with something and want their gems back. On top of losing money from refunding gems Anet would be paying for more CS personnel to handle the additional tickets.
It just doesn’t make sense for Anet to pay for your carelessness. Now, in specific cases if you can get it reviewed by a supervisor they may have the authority to give you a refund, but I’d imagine you’d need a good reason for it and they wouldn’t do this for the same person twice.

Is there any way I could get my gems back? It’s quite annoying that due to a lag problem I bought several Chars slot, that I won’t use and can’t get my gems back.
Reply from Anet was really poor and it seemed that they really dont care at all.
I have 10 Chars slot, i got 2 chars, what am i gonna do??
they wont help me or care.
Maybe is really complex to remove chars slots, but at least lie to me and say that. They actually said that rarely they make refunds. Im not even asking the money back, just the gems.Perhaps you should post in the account support forum to see if you can get assistance with your issue. If you do make sure to include your ticket number and hopefully during the week Gaile will offer some assistance or at least be able to elaborate on why they cannot provide a refund. If you do so there will probably be a few regulars respond to your post but just wait for Gaile for an official answer.
Im gonna try this, thanks for the suggestion
you already bought the gems to buy the amount of slots you did.
If anything you should get your gems back… but not your money.
Yes, thats what I meant, I bought 50 usd on gems, i dont want money, i want gems!
-nothing to say-
Well not really,
Op, I hope you do get your money back.
Me as well. It was almost 40 usd on something Ill never have the chance to use. Wish I had plenty of time to use them, but nope.
Problem is this discourages me from charging more money, because anything could happen and I know they wont help me or care.

why won’t you ever use them? that brings you up to 7 slots, which isn’t even one of each class.
I have 10 slots. I barely have time for 1, less for 10. I mean, yes, after maybe playing this game for 5 years Ill have 10 characters, but due to a simple lag problem I’ve bought something that I’ll never get to use.
If it were Boosts I wouldn’t be mad, eventually I could use them.
Imagine if you bought twice the Robot Salvage Kit, which is account bound. What’s the benefit?
Due to a lag problem by mistake I bought 5 Characters slots
I have 2. One is lvl 80 the other 45.

Now I’m stuck with some many characters slot Ill never use.
So beware, they don’t care about you once they have your money.
I see how AH works, I got it now, was reading a bit. That will actually make me tanky due to constant heals.
Thanks Jericho, will try some traiting once I get home, I’ll have tons of fun now =)
Yes, I’m fairly new, still getting familiar with some mechanics!
But thanks for the clarification! It’s nice to see I can get more swiftness as long as I’m with the zerg.
Question, is it normal that Symbol of Swift doesn’t work if I already have Swiftness?
Insightful post Jericho, thanks!
I see now people chose according to the ability gained instead of the stat given. It now seems more interesting, since I was worried about not having enough damage.
I think I’ll be using this:
Valor 10: Retributive Armor
Honor 30: Superior Aria – Empowering Might – Pure of Voice
Virtues 30: Vengeful – Absolute Resolution – Indomitable Courage
With Knights Armor I’m going to have a decent Crit-Chance and Toughness, to be critting a lot giving might, my shouts will have a short CD and probably I’ll be quite tanky.
I think I like this build, it has lots of versatility and finally using Save Yourselves won’t kill me with all those conditions :P
Just one question though, is there any way to up the natural regeneration of Guardians? I’ve read somewhere that Warrior heals like 500 each second?
Sword Focus for giving perma might (due to the 15% crit chance) could be worth it?
(edited by Zorish.2940)
Is there a way?
So far I can get 40 sec with Symbol of Swiftness (applied first, otherwise it doesn’t work, not sure why) Save Yourselves and Retreat.
But during WvW every – single – other – class just run by me like nothing. And this causes to get lost, get ganked, and be somewhere too late.
How can I solve this?
My build is Power 30, Precision 10, Touhgness 20, something like that, not ingame right now.
I don’t really want to be a DPS-zerker Guardian, but it’s required to do dungeons faster, deal damage as long as I’m in a group who knows the dungeon.
I have Knights Armor only and Ascended Amulet and 1 Ascended Accessory.
My problem is mostly WvW. I used to run GS and Staff… now I’ve changed to Staff and Scepter/Shield, because I know I have no change at all in melee range, so I just avoid it. But this is probably related to my lack of knowledge, I’m not familiar with all other classes, so even with my abilities on, I’m not sure when to use my skills.
My Scepter 3, most of the time it gets dodged! I cannot anticipate the dodge from enemy, unless I’m paying attention on checking if they ran out of Endurance (but at that time they’re dead already).
My shield 4, when is that necessary?
I think that for WvW I’ll have to go Toughness 30, Vitality 30 and some Valor to get reduced shouts.
I’ve become very attached to shouts Save Yourselves, Retreat, Stand your ground, Hold the line.
I’d would say that without noticing I’ll be running a Shout Support Guardian, but I’m not very familiar with how to use this abilities.
EDIT= anyway to go around the 5 people limit that shouts have?
(edited by Zorish.2940)
I’m confused… In Rift you had this possibility of changing specs in just one click as long as you weren’t in combat. In this game you don’t have that.
I find it a little annoying that I’d have to swap equip/traits just to do a dungeon or FOTM.
I’m still fairly new to guardian, and PvE doesn’t require that much skills besides dodging/kiting and managing cd.
I have no idea usually what to do in WvW. Most of the time I know I CAN’T go melee because I’m dead. If I get caught but 3 enemies, I can’t run away, I can’t heal, I can’t deal damage.
Probably my build is bad, but is there a build that could work for PvE and WvW? For PvE I know we need damage damage damage, but maybe I can compensate with boons or something else?
Well, I never replied because I thought the thread died, but I DO understand speed clear. Everyone has his/her right to have the best dps build possible to run/kill instances faster.
I’m working towards a zerker equipment mostly because of that, because I want to be able to do lots of damage and increase damage of my party as well.
I also believe that if you’re very squishy you will learn better how to dodge and avoid unnecessary damage. It just takes some dungeons to farm the gear, and it’s quite good looking as well.
As long as I’m having fun I don’t mind my build. Not everyone is an expert and can finish content in 30 min, some people actually like dying and figuring things out ^^
I have tons of bags to open, but I’m not sure which ones suffer from DR. Is there a list somewhere where I could check this up?
Thanks airic, what was quite a nice post. Thanks beriah as well.
I just need to start gathering the tokens through dungeons and fractals. Even though I like PvE I think is best to start with PVT and Knights since I like WvW and you can’t enjoy it that much if you die in 2 hits.
I still need to learn about the combo and stuffs though, I know how mines work a bit, but now how they interact with other’s classes.
Farming farming for me for the next month!
So it’s getting some PVT/Knights first then the Zerker it seems
It seems like a valid argument to learn to dodge and avoid big hits. I could get some tanky stats from traits anyways.
I’ll be seeing what I can do.
Hi,
I’ve started playing again recently. I’m not very expert on the game and there’s a lot of information around to get quite confused.
I’ve been reading quite a lot about Guardians and Equipment. I don’t have a playstyle already defined, which is making things harder to decide.
I know some things:
- I enjoy running Dungeons/Fractals/All PvE content and WvW (a lot)
- I don’t like being squishy
- I enjoy being able to stand quite some hits
- I enjoy reviving people in WvW Zergs / Champions Kills
- I’d like to be able to stop a Zerg or to be an obstacle where people need to worry about me and not one shot me in 0.1 Sec
- If possible I’d like to survive some AoE, so far Catas are destroying me not matter what
Weapons:
Pretty familiar with GS, Hammer, Mace/Shield and Staff. Are these weapons useful for WvW?
I’ve already acquired the Ascended Amulet Thackery with Defensive Infusion (no slotted yet). Now I’m confused on what I should be looking forward.
Some investigation revealed that going for Rings/Accessories/Backpack from Fractals is the way to go or Guild Commendations+Gold as well.
But, I’ve seen lot of Armor for Guardian:
- Berserkers is for DPS Guardian. It’s Glass Cannon, I get. Probably useful in Dungeons and Fractals (I believe this is up to 40 Max, where Agony is too much ?)
- PVT (Soldier) I think this one is not really good from what I’ve seen. It would seem that the added Vitality is not really good considering our damage mitigation and heals.
- Knights seems a well-around decision, it provides Thoughness, Power and Precision for those nasty crit. It would seem that a mix of Knights+PVT is good to get a bit of extra HP since our HP pool isn’t that high.
- Clerics not sure about this one, but it would seems is also pretty good and popular?
As I’ve stated there are things that I enjoy more, maybe a Support/Tankish role while still doing decent damage (Maye Zerkers accesories here as many suggested). But my primary question is:
- In which order should I get these items to maximize stat efficiency? AND
- Which is the fastest/cheapest way to get them?
Thanks everyone for helping me out.
@Builds I don’t wanna still think about that, you can always reset Traits, but equipment is a bit harder to come by.
Thanks locoman, you’re not that crazy after all!
I didn’t know about fractals. I’ll do some runs, as others suggested. What use do laurels have then?
I’ve got the amulet already but fail to see how should I use the laurels then.
Oh, that sounds nice and less expensive! I have already done some fractals, not sure up to what level though.
I’ll be checking that, I’m really confused about costs and which one is the less expensive (time-wise)
I’m a bit confused about them.
I bought the Amulet with 20 Laurels and 250 Badges from WvW.
Now I’ve seen that there are Rings, Accessories and Backpacks?
But rings costs 40 Laurels and 40 Ectos? IS that right? Are those the only ascended items in the game?
Oh, well, than I can easily use that bit of karma to save some farming for dungeons eheh!
Thanks Falunel! I just wanted to make sure because I had doubts about it. I have some Karma to spend and I wasn’t sure if I should buy pieces of set with that or no.
I’m aware karma is only used for parts for the Legendary weapons, right?
I’m still unsure about what to build, if Power > Toughness Vitality or Power > Toughness Precision, but I’ll be checking some more guides for that.
Is there any particular reason to reserve Karma for something else? I don’t see the use of Gold in this game, besides buying things for WvW or Dyes.
I have Karma, Laurels and Badges.
I know I cant get Ascended Amulet with Laurels/Badges, that’s covered for.
Now, what’s the difference between crafting Armor Set, getting it with Karma or farming tokens in a Dungeon?
Are they different? Is one better than the others?
Ok, so I don’t need Vit? I thought I had to had like 17K hp and decent armor.
I’m doing dungeons and got 30 laurels and 400 badges for the ascended accessory!
That second link seems interesting, I’m going to read it!
Hello,
I’m a level 80 Guardian and I’m not really that good at building my guardian.
I haven’t been playing lately so I’m not really aware of equipment, dungeons and stuffs going on.
Is there any guide I could read that tells me what to build? I’m usually more interested in WvW and PvE.
I don’t enjoy much PvP. So my question is how do you get equipment in this game?
I know you have to run Dungeons, but which ones? I’m highly confused on what should I get as Guardian.
I know this: I need Toughness – Power and what? Vitality? Precision? % Crit chance?
Any help/links are welcome
For those suggesting the OP run CoF, please… Don’t. CoF is a soul-crushing way of making money, suitable only for mindless grinding. Sure, it’s efficient—but it’s also miserable, and full of elitists that will kick you for not being able to ping a full set of exotic ’zerker armor. This, mind you, is speaking as a player that owns 3 full sets of armor on his main, including a ’zerker set.
Gearing up in GW2 is best done through variety. Once you hit 80, buy level 80 greens off the TP with the stats you want—you should be able to kit yourself out completely for less than 50 silver. This will set you up well enough to run pretty much any PvE content, though you’ll be less powerful than you could be. Run dungeons, acquire tokens, purchase armor with the tokens. 3-4 runs of a dungeon will generally give you enough tokens for one piece of exotic armor, and can be accomplished easily in a single day by running all 3 explorable paths of a dungeon.
For trinkets, you’ll want to go for Ascended. Sure, you can buy exotic rings and amulets, but… why? 30 total runs of fractals level 10 will get you both your Ascended rings (assuming you don’t get lucky on ring drops) and around 815 of the 1350 fractal relics needed for an ascended backpiece. It’ll likely take you at least 20 days to level your first character to 80, by which point you should have enough laurels for an ascended amulet (remember to do those dailies/monthlies). Earrings you can either buy with money or get for 42k karma apiece from the temple vendors in Orr.
You’ll get one free exotic weapon by completing your personal story. Doing map completion of high-level zones gives you a very good chance at getting a few more exotics, as well as potentially some pricy crafting materials (with any luck, you’ll get 40 orichalcum ore).
Plus, at the end of that, we haven’t really spent any money. If you sell all your crafting materials (you probably should), you’ll have several gold which you can invest towards purchasing your remaining weapons and/or skins you may like.
Now, as for making money quickly: don’t worry about it. Sell crafting materials (except for T6 fine mats if you’re at all interested in a legendary), sell rares on the TP, run events with bonus chests, do fractals and dungeons, and in general enjoy yourself, and you’ll find yourself rolling with plenty of money.
Source: I don’t grind CoF. At all. I’ve almost finished my legendary, and have 3 level 80 characters fully kitted out in exotic/Ascended gear, with a fourth level 73 making its way to 80, with enough tokens in the bank to kit it out the moment it hits 80.
Well, that’s an awesome post! I thank you so much for that! My major HUGE problem is that I’m lost! There’s so much to do that I don’t know where to focus.
With this post I feel less stressed about what to do.
I like to have fun, but sometimes you need to have in mind objectives to not lose perspective, this post point to everything I need to know so far. =)
I like to know this. I’m having quite a hard time killing mobs at my levels, I don’t seem to do enough dmg for them to die!
What’re your tactics? Is your gear at least within 5-10 levels of you?
My gear is pretty bad I think and it’s all broken, eheh I think that’s affecting me. I also takes tons of damage from mobs and I don’t kill them that easly.
Though I’m still newbie and I find it hard to switch between Fire Earth etc, so sometimes I use only Fire or Electricity.
Nice, very informative posts everyone, even those that were a bit troll xD
I like to know this. I’m having quite a hard time killing mobs at my levels, I don’t seem to do enough dmg for them to die!
But nice to see so many replies, it shows how active and helpful this community is!
I’m sorta new.
I’m rolling an Elemental and wanted to know if it’s quite easy to make gold. Usually I don’t like spending too much real money on getting inventory expansion and stuffs, so I was wondering if you can pay it with ingame gold.
Also, do you need to grind a lot to get the high end items? I’m a bit confused. There’s WvW, PvP, dungeons, laurels, I don’t know what I have to do to achieve end game conent gear.
I’m only level 13 though, so it doesn’t matter much.
Any advice is welcomed
I’m on Dragonband and it was quite populated, I wasn’t expecting so many people.
There were also many high levels getting new guild mates and stuff.
It was quite nce
Thanks for all the replies!
I’m reading/informing myself of each Guild! xD
Hey, is there any way to default forums to english?
I’m sick of it changing to Spanish, I’d like to default GW forums to english, thx
Army of farm fest? What is that? Lol.
I’d love to join a guild where people are pacient enough to teach you and guide you
I sorta got bored of the game after reaching high level because I was completely lost on what I had to do.
I tried to craft and I found it impossible due to the incredible amount of materials required.
I was wondering if there are any nice, family guild where I could start again and enjoy the game.
I hope this is heard. It’s my first time on forum, and I wouldn’t like the idea of being forced to farm a dungeon to get gear.
I’d like to have options and not wasting time doing the same tasks 100 times. If I cannot have that liberty, it’s like playing a linear rpg where my only choice is selection dialog option A or B.
Hope this gets heard.
