Do not use DS just to absorb hits. It is a weapon on a timer. Lead with it. Use DS to port to your opponent, inflict chill and AoE, channel LF, Fear, then exit and curse the snot out of everyone before laying on the damage.

While many think of DS as a second health bar, the best use it a bit like Thief’s Initiative. Build it up, watch the CD, then burn it on a face-melting invulnerable attack. Exit, wait for CD, and so on.

interesting concept.

let me pose a question.

would the thief be more powerful if they could lose initiative from damage?

it would be a way of soaking up damage for the thief, call it a shroud something…

perhaps Misdemeanor Shroud or something like that.

now wouldn’t that make the thief just over the top OP?

IF thief has that ^, they will be a totally uber version of a necro (not that they are not already arguably). Might as well remove necromancer profession from the game.

Guardians.

Aegis is Lord of boons, and king of carry. Wait, PUG kittening bad and don’t kittening dodge? Block the kitten kittening attack. 100% protection up-time at that. Stability on demand, and not just yourself.

Eles, engineers and mesmers I can understand being good carriers, but necromancer seriously(above posts)? You can’t kittening carry if you get knocked down every 2 and a half milisecond, or got tossed around because you have no kittening stability. Oh, and you have no kittening vigor.

And I main a necro.

and as someone has said, try Shaman in high level fractals, and see if you can carry as well as a guardian there. Without the reflections, aegis or 100% vigor up-time you’re basically useless.

Ranger in Dungeons?

The reality is this:
- You can clear any dungeon content in GW2 with a ranger
- However, you will clear any dugneon content more efficiently using a mesmer, warrior, or even guardian.

^THIS. Just THIS. Tqvm. I only party with rangers if they are friends or guildies and it’s just a casual fun run where all builds are on because nobody is in a hurry. If it’s farm or speedrun however, even guildies and friends with rangers and engineers will not be entertained.

It deals incredible aoe damage, has high survivability, and is incredibly fun to play.
(cont.)

High survivability – i’ll give you that but there’s no access to vigor and stability – If you can’t hit them your lifesteal no work. (which is why necros are most useful defending keeps and manning walls with staff )

Incredibly fun to play – yes of course.

Incredible aoe damage – (look at the knights and rabid, without crit damage, also no traiting into spite) sure, 5 seconds every 45 seconds and providing those idiots stand in the kitten well for the whole duration.

high survivability and incredibly fun to play yes. But don’t even start on the incredible damage.

You either go with the flow (as you had), or just play it the way you want to play – after all, after you’ve farmed everything there is, all that’s left is to chill and hang out and chat with your guildies. Then you’ll realise it doesn’t matter anymore. Speedruns or not. Community as a whole getting enjoyable or not is subjective. But that’s the nature of society. As one thrives more kittens be revealed. That’s why people always reminisce about the good ol’ day where there’s no TVs, no smartphones, and where kids play around catching each other in a park.

People want to think of online gaming community as vastly different from RL, but actually they are not.

Your build has neither the consistent heals of AH nor the bursty heals of a meditation build. It is not a smart build. I’d consider a 10/30/30 meditation build instead. You can still keep everything as is, plus you get a +15% crit chance with sword/torch. Your JI also now heals. With this build you will also be able to ditch most of your knights trinkets in exchange of ascended zerkers.

Cheers.

also it makes sense. Literally every attack in this game except Maw’s agony can be dodged, prevented, kited (one way or another). Hence it makes sense to take them down asap before they take you down. It is a valid strategy, both online and real life. It also has that advantage of being speedier than tankish and living forever but take a bazillion years to kill a sheep.

I know everyone supports one way or another. I was referring to people who run uber warrior healing builds or pure support thief or kitten like that. Everyone should be self-sufficient and contribute directly to the dps of the team. Support should be minimal and be viewed as a bonus.

Don’t kid yourself guys. In the context of dungeons as discussed here, Guild WARS 2 only need one thing – dps. Support build, healing build, all those nonsense has no place in a dungeon in gw2.

edited to add that, if you bring a support, healing or one of those nonsensical build into my team you’re getting kicked. no offence.

And there you have it,the dungeon community in a nutshell.

I’m play a lot of dungeons, but unless it’s CoF path 1, this guy doesn’t speak for me. He sure as hell doesn’t speak for my guild.

I have a feeling he runs CoF path 1 a lot…

I run DPS War with shout buffs and soldier runes for party wide condition removal…so yea, I support.

That’s still a dps build. A game of GW2’s nature means every class bring every freaking thing to a team. So nobody should have a sorry excuse of a build like full support or healing build or all those crap. Everyone should have more than average dps.

And if you’ve done enough dungeons everywhere, you’ll know only dps is useful. As what Leo G said once you know what to do and is competent the only reasonable thing to pimp is your dps since you don’t die that often anymore and do not need to compensate for that lack of skills with utilities.

It makes sense, otherwise it will be pointless to gain level in fractals. Might as well suggest Anet to scrap the whole levelling thingy. Now everyone (including noobs) can challenge any level from 1-50 and get the rewards. So yeah, let’s not even spend more time in the game anymore, because you know, that’s what MMOs are – they need to find ways to keep you in game longer.

On another note, why bother with character levels? Now everyone has a generic “infinity” level and when you go to a map you are levelled to that map’s level (much like it is now). Why all the equipments requirement? Let’s scrap them!

Level infinity means a noob who just joined a game can straight away use lvl 80 exotics or ascended items and be done with it! Yay!

What do you want from my ranger??

if you want to speedrun, never take rangers. If your group need to justify taking a certain class by saying they are good resser, that’s just bad play. A good group should have minimal deaths, or even downs (and those can self-rally). Thing is your position as a ranger could well be filled with another class which can prevent downed (or defeated) states in the first place.

Now I don’t discriminate between classes. But when I say speedrun no other classes should join except war/mes/guard(to some extent). Guard is just useful everywhere, and War and Mes are OP in pve. The rest of the classes could just not exist for all I care. War is easy mode so it’s easy to find decent warriors so less risk when pugging, and Mes (I don’t give a kitten if they stand there do nothing as long as they know how to use focus 5, feedback, portal, timewarp)

And yes, I main a necro.

How Gear-Dependent are Necro Builds?

in Necromancer

Posted by: abelooi.9156

abelooi.9156

I think guild wars 2 isn’t really gear dependent because the increase from tier to tier is hardly noticeable, unless you are jumping from rare to ascended. If you have exotics, you will not really need ascended but that’s purely for the end-game aesthetic (to have the best of whatever you can have). But gamers are usually perfectionist in this sense, so it’s understood you might eventually want to stack up, but it’s much more forgiving than other mmos. You can run around with greens and still be fine.

I really wish I had your super-minions Bas. Flesh golem and shadow fiend can’t even survive the trash that cleaves in TA on story mode or the huge veteran karka that lay eggs let alone real dungeon bosses. How exactly do you manage to spread out your ranged minions anyway? I mean you can put wurm wherever but the other 2 stand right next to each other and both eat it at the same time. Usually a few seconds after all the melees have been cleaved to death =/. So at that point you have your flesh wurm still up, and the golem often has a sliver of health left so he gets in a few more whacks before he bites it too on the next aoe.
Its not even so much that they get one shot because their health is decent, its that there are so many things that do repeated constant damage. They get torn to shreds by cleaves and just stand there burning to ashes or dissolving in poison or getting thrashed by some boss spinning attack…you can see it coming and can do absolutely nothing about it. Thats my biggest problem, its infuriating being able to have absolutely no input after you first attack a target. No matter how good you are all you can do is watch them die in the most idiotic ways possible. And then be semi useless for the next 16-48 seconds.
The whole game of guild wars 2 is designed around dodging big hits and staying out of red circles, and they can’t do either. I honestly don’t know how they could even be designed in such a flawed way.

He’s literally the only one who still advocates MM being a totally fine build bar fractals 10+. Obviously his minions are specially made just for him by anet, and he can even control where he wants his minions to go or be or attack. Just like using the WSAD keys for your character. Oh and his minions can dodge so he doesn’t lose them in the plethora of aoes or whatever mishaps. I tried as above.

What can you do?

You know, I’d really love seeing him post every single encounter of his with those examples I’ve given above and see how useful his minions are in those encounters. My point is simple – minions add no value to clearing trash (if they’re trash they are cleared so fast anyway), hardly noticeable in boss fights, and useless while running through an area. They are not viable.

edit – oh and yes, regarding fighting champions, yes they’re back up 24 secs later but guess what, they’ll bite the dust again coz you know, you’re fighting the same dude that wiped them earlier? They can’t learn to do differently the next time. They can’t learn to pull back, they can’t learn to dodge and heal up, they don’t have defensive cd. To say they are useful is laughable. Like I said earlier, I’d have an equally (if not an easier time due to not needing to press more buttons) effective toon playing without utilities and elite at all.

MM in arah lupi (or arah in general). New AC bosses. Places where mobs drop fire-well aoe, or that shaman kitten that shoot flames. Young and old karkas. Every single champion mob worth its salt. Those AC elementalist ghosts. Harathi hinterland chains with the bazillion of four-legged frak. COE alpha. TA greater nightmare. Assorted silver mobs that can wipe glassy dudes (they can wipe your minions too). Going underwater (automatically wipes your elite) (sometimes unintentionally venture into a slight swimmage). Hotw bosses whether the ones with the icy spikes, or even butcher when he spins because you have no way to control your minions. HOTW 2 final bosses of paths 2 & 3 are underwater. Places where you have to run and there are lavas around. You could argue that you swap skills as necessary anyway, but then when do you swap back to minions? They are not good for running through content, they are not good for tanking mobs that actually kill you, and they are similar to what dps utilities will do to mobs that cannot kill you.

You yourself mentioned fracs 10+. That’s simply too much content (at end game) that automatically voids the viability of MM.

Golem doesn’t even warrant being an elite. It has less damage then some clones… and on par hp with thiefs elite… which summons 3. Point is they are lacking in survivability. Mostly due to aoe killing them instantly and partually due to the fact they don’t regen so you never start combat with your minions being fully healed…If MM could provide even the slightest in combat passive healing from damage or passive it would solve it partualy or at least let them all heal ooc. And if they just plainly gave summons aoe resistance… it would solve half the problem on the spot. If they all regenerated ooc and had some resistance to aoe my gripe would be solely with underwater lack of golem and being stuck with elite that punishes MM.

Well you can’t really compare the Golem to a skill that only has 30" duration and 4 times the recharge. TBH I’m happy with its damage and survivability, I only have a problem with its AI.

As far as ordinary minions go, hbowever, I completely agree, they should give them ooc regen. Or at the very least allow us to dismiss and resummon! Having them clinging on by a sliver of health makes me feel like the opposite of a GW1 minionmaster, who started out pathetically weak until he got his first few minions up and then became an unstoppable juggernaut. GW2 MMs get weaker as the fight progresse, which is psychologically rather dispiriting. If I run to the next point with 2 minions almost dead and 1 on the recharge I might as well lie down and let them kill me.

Yep. Every second fight is you engage every minion dies and you have 4 skills on cd with maybe golem out… Useless that is. You either run away and come back when things off cd or just tough it up and do it yourself which is utterly moronic in its base concept. And again minions are still made out of wet paper golem included.
Soon as he can survive some dungeon aoe… you can tell me hes alright. Besides its not like he regens in combat any fights that last more then 30 seconds incur a useless elite that provides nothing to the table. Past maybe 20k damage. Thats a few auto attacks from warrior/thief whoopdy doo… some elite that is.
Can you play MM… sure… is it enjoyable… I think sticking a hedgehog up your own kitten would be equally gratifying .

What dungeon are you in, and what minions are you using where you lose every single one every second fight? I have done every single dungeon as an MM, and Flesh Golem almost never dies, bone fiend rarely dies, Flesh Wurm only dies if he pulls threat (rarely), and bone minions die because I tell them too.

Are you just rushing in with your head down screaming LEROY Jenkins!!!! I have no idea or concept as to how you would have to play in order for every single minion to die every single pull or even every two pulls.

I think the point is that minions are not useful in fights that actually matter. Which means you are no different from having just weapon skills and leaving the utilities blank (because that’s what they’ll be). I’ll give you minion bombs, but really?

Overexaggeration – they are fine, and routinely tank everything short of champion mobs for me.

And you don’t have a single way to heal them under water… nor can you use a golem under water.

You have a quicker summoning time underwater, but other than that I agree, though I never really noticed the not healing before. It bothers me alot that I can’t use anything except Plague underwater.

I’d love to see your minions tank 3 young karkas shooting kittens at them. YOUNG.

I would like this actually….

Ditto. Only nubs skip Kholer. He’s so incredibly easy, there’s no reason to skip him, either.

This. Kholer is insanely easy. Unskilled players skip him all of the time, and he should be mandatory to complete the dungeon.

Actually skipping kholer is more to do with not wanting to waste time on a non mandatory fight. Nothing to do with skill. He gives nothing of value.

Make him mandatory i say. Why give people the option? He’s not a chance encounter like the troll.

A chest, waypoint, 3 tears, extra silver, and a bit of karma. Sounds pretty worth it for a fight that takes less than 5 minutes…

Not if you can skip doing that 5 minute fight and then slot in a 5-min cof speedrun in between, which now grants you 3 chests instead.

Theorycrafting: Lich Form vs Flesh Golem

in Necromancer

Posted by: abelooi.9156

abelooi.9156

Now, I am just speaking purely from a pve perspective and dungeon, to a lesser extent wvw.

Flesh golem is useful in situations where it is safe to dps. In those situations, ie trash-clearing, there’s nothing your team can’t already do by auto-attacking, and you’d probably not notice any difference in dps by the flesh golem (if any) since by the time it actually reaches the mob it’d have already died. In wvw roaming, flesh golem is actually a really good companion for its charge, but if you’re roaming as a necro there must be something really suicidal about you, but that’s another story.

In situations where you actually need bursts, or where targets are significantly harder than normal mobs (situations where elites are mostly needed), flesh golems are sub-par. Either a bunch of random aoes will take it down, or it’ll end up taking a shot (or two if traited) from the boss and it goes down. You can argue that you have 2 more uses in the one cd of LF, but if the two other subsequent uses of it consist only of 2 charges (assuming it hits and even then bosses are usually kept at defiant stacks so cc is null) before it goes down again.

Flesh golem has its uses. I love it when solo running some pve where there is no real need of an elite (which begs the question why it finds itself in the elite slot to begin with, but that’s another story too). Even more than one young karka will pose a big problem for our elite friend, so let’s not go discuss about its survivability.

bottomline, flesh golem, whilst it has its uses, does not warrant the elite slot it currently occupies (possibly because of the flawed system of pets in this game). If you are comparing two elites, for situations where elites are needed, I will take LF.

In situations where no elites are needed, well..

This… is how you start theorycrafting properly. You consider if it is even reasonable to compare two to begin with. Not throw numbers around while dismissing every variable imaginable.
Calling me immature are you? while you went off and started calling people names when they proved you are wrong? Pfft you reap what you saw bud.
I clearly stated the same things you listen as pros and cons to using either one. Kind of pointless to state same things I already mentioned. And what I quoted again states it fairly well why two aren’t really comparable. They are used in different situations under different conditions. As I stated before lich form SCALES, if you are condition spec…. lich form is useless and plague form is debatable as far as pve is concerned(its a good defense but… its pve). If you are mm spec… its again useless and so is the other elite for obvious reasons.
You mentioned loosing utilities… okay lets touch up on that one. Only time you would use lich is if you aren’t condition/mm… that leaves power spec… so wells since other stuff isn’t really useful in pve so burst spec. Mkay… wells… 40 sec cd. You pop them and you are DONE. Then what? You can’t deal with not seeing you utility slots on cd? Last I checked DS did the same thing. Granted its a poorly designed mechanic in itself but thats another topic. Point is your utilities are already on cd what exactly are you losing here?

Kind sir, I believe you have the wrong guy. I am not the TS.

I don’t see the point.

An “optimal” group can do it in 10 minutes. A regular pug group can do it in 12 minutes.

There’s nothing really to brag about because there’s easier and more convenient ways to get gold without having to grind the same dungeon for hours on end.

I mean, on my Guardian it took me a weekend to get enough gold to buy a full exotic set once I hit 80. On my Thief I had full exotics once I hit 80 and my Mesmer is already lined up with a planned gear set.

If you think you need 4 Warriors and 1 Mesmer to make gold in this game, you’re doing it wrong.

Also, to the Warriors who say Thiefs can’t outdps them and don’t have AOE damage — lol.

actually, currently in game there’s no easier or more convenient way to earn gold than speedrunning cof 1. That’s playing the game (playing the TP doesn’t count). If the exotic set you want falls conveniently into one of those three COF sets, then congrats, you can have a full set of exotics in 1.5hr just purely farming p1 (throw in a p2 in between for good measure). If it is not, don’t worry, 30 token-rares are there for your ecto needs.

"elitists lvl80 only" attitude lately

If I take them – good for them and they should be thankful that they so lucky. If not – thats how world works, not all ppl and not allways want to waste time on carrying someone.

Sub-80s do not need to be carried! And acting as if you are doing them a favour by taking them along is firmly elitist. I’d prefer a unskilled player over an elitist any day as at least they are not judgemental kittens.

A lot of nonsense in this thread.

If you havent even got level 80 on your character, you do not know your character well, in almost all cases.

Knowledge of characters and classes does not come from level. It comes from experience, experimentation, and research. Sub-80s are well capable of all three.

You are right of course. But unless it’s friends/guildies, I believe with PUGs they usually want to minimise the risk of badly skilled players. Sub-80s are well capable of all three of course, especially if they already have multiple 80s. The thing is you don’t go into a party and holler out I have 5 80s all fully geared but just wanting to play this. And people usually are more willing to bet that a level 80 should possibly be more familiar with a game, experimented more, and did his research.

I actually preferred to look at their achievement points. That’s more telling. Usually (USUALLY, not always) if their points are high and they bring in an alt, they are usually OK. Sub-1k points with a sub-80 means they are really new with the game.

(Mostly subjective [albeit accurate]) Chart for PVE (Dungeon) effectiveness of classes:

Tier 1: Warriors.
Tier 2: Thieves.
Tier 10: Elementalists, Grenadiers, and Rangers.
Tier 13: Engineers and Necromancers.

This takes into consideration aoe/single dps, offensive support, survivability, defensive support, and utility that speeds up or smooths runs. (in other words, everything that matters.)

1. Guardians are hard to define because there’s little to no need to have more than one, and they’re most useful in instances with aggro tables (as opposed to instances where bosses stand there and just throw down aoe everywhere… like CoE).

snip

It is actually hard to believe you when you mentioned “This takes into consideration aoe/single dps, offensive support, survivability, defensive support, and utility that speeds up or smooths runs. (in other words, everything that matters.)” and have a hard time defining which tier a guardian should be placed in.

SoS is getting demolished, lol.

:x

SOS seems to do as well as they want to do.

We’ll know thursday night if they want to be 1st, 2nd or 3rd.

^This. It’s like the last week before reset we just thought, oh hey let give JQ a chance to top the chart since it’s gonna be reset. so what do we do? We make sure we are not gonna make the drop. That’s the goal.

Same thing here. If we want, we will be there to take it. Just enjoy the SOS lull.

JUST FYI guys, much of SOS is currently on a hiatus (because we win too much); if we’re to put in any effort at all, it will be this – “eat my dust!”.

Cheers!

Bahaha, I’m sure.

OK, the “win too much” part is obviously not true.. but the rest stands
We’ll be there.

great idea – i think it will be nice that as a moving virulent plague you only get stronger by getting conditions thrown at you.

Why aren't cheaters being banned?

This sort of thing, unlike say, buying 2000 21 karma cultural weapons, is much more difficult to quantify the guilt of, and I think ANet recognizes that and doesn’t want to act on it. The best thing they can do, and have been doing, is close the exploits as fast as they can so that people cannot take advantage of them. I applaud them for not recklessly banning players for it.

You raise some good points, but to be honest the cheating mindset in this game is atrocious, and that wont be fixed by closing the bugs. A exploit gets fixed and then everyone just swarms over a new one. It just makes me sad to go into a dungeon and people expect everyone to bug out bosses, skip bosses, glitch through walls to get multiple paths done in one.

I think the point Renegade is trying to raise here is that this cheating mindset is detrimental to the game, and no matter how many bug/exploits Anet fix, until there is a consequence people will continue to look to break the game devaluing all the PvE rewards. Its such a shame to see people in this game with really cool bits of gear and not be able to honestly say “That player earned it.” because in truth, most of them probably exploited their way to the reward.

Why is it detrimental to the game though? If you don’t agree with them, you can opt out of it. Nobody is forcing you to play the game as the next person.

Hmm, if only want to apply weakness on the boss, isn’t an engineer a better option?
See http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Elixir_gun
And http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Tranquilizer_Dart
It has both weakness and bleed on its auto attack. You get 1200 range with rifled barrels trait.
The weakness actually lasts much longer time than the wiki page says. Easily 4 seconds. I can confirm that you can easily keep permanent weakness on a boss with it. In fact you can even swap weapons to e.g. grenade kit, rifle, pistols and then back fast back to elixir gun and still have the weakness applied on the boss if you have fast fingers. I use it to solo bosses alone.

Oh sure, I wasn’t claiming that Thieves are the best at single-target weakness. They are the best, however, at multi-target weakness. That method I outlined above can weaken entire groups at a moment’s notice, as one poison field will pulse multiple times and auto-attacks through it are just icing on the cake. It’s not even taking away from ranged DPS, as it is pretty much instant cast and can fit in to a Cluster Bomb rotation with absolutely no problem.

D/D auto-attack also applies weakness with the same trait, so if the Thief knows how to play well, they can deal much higher DPS than at range while keeping up useful conditions, and they have sacrifice absolutely nothing to do so (the poison/weakness trait is in a power tree). The main concern is the player’s ability (the skill floor is a lot higher for Thieves to meet equal performance of other professions). I acknowledge that many people find this a problem, but the Thieves I’ve got to know and play with regularly are easily some of the most reliable players I’ve met due to this elevation in input requirement.

Thing with applying weakness is, while great and all, the bigger question is WHY bother with something so trivial as applying weakness to stuffs other than the boss, cause if you bring in another class such as a warrior the trashes are cleared with ease anyway?

Why bring X class to a dungeon? I’ll tell you why, cause I dont suck and could care less what class you are as long as you dont suck either.

I’m not going to sit there for 10 minutes looking for the perfect group composition.

This ^. Generally people don’t care what class you bring if they are regulars and are skilled and experienced in dungeon. Having said that, if given a choice between two equally skilled players, one playing thief and the other any other class, i think i’ll go for anyone but thief. Really.

in PVE it is always advisable to bring a second set of ranged weapon. Early on in the game there are certain fights you absolutely cannot melee. For melee usage in normal PVE content (level 30+), there’s no need for anything else other than GS.

Just listen to them above and pack vitality or toughness gear since you change them so very often. To be honest though, a guardian is perhaps the most forgiving to go DPS in while levelling, even for a new player of the game. It is that forgiving.

Dungeons and Monthly Awards.

I just want to throw my 2 cents here…

I used to run dungeons all the time in another MMO because I had to. Sure, I could choose not to, but then I would be behind in gear progression compared to my raid mates etc. So it was not an option to skip the dungeon grind. It was boring. Same thing over and over for months…it wore me out.

When GW2 was announced, I got excited because it promised I wouldn’t have to do what I don’t want to do to enjoy the game. The game had been delivering on those promises…until the new Fractals and Laurels kicked in. Here comes the familiar gear grind and the “you have choice but not really” deal again. I ran Fractals, didn’t care for it much and the prospect of having to run them over and over to get some gear put me off; but I did it to get the monthly done. It wasn’t fun. When laurels came out, I was excited because now I didn’t have to run fractals to get ascended gear. I was extremely disappointed to know that I had to run dungeons. I have been to a few dungeon runs but none of the runs were fun for me. A few elitist jerks in my runs didn’t help it either.

You say you don’t have to do monthly if you don’t want to? Monthly awards you 10 laurels! That’s 10 days worth of dailies. That’s a lot of tokens to give up. We have a choice…theoretically…to ignore the monthly, but when the reward is something we really want, do we really have a choice? There is a lot of pressure to get the monthly done. It isn’t a simple matter of “don’t do it if you don’t want to”. When the game starts to make you feel like you “must” do something because you “want” something…game becomes a chore, a grind. It is already starting to feel this way. Such a pity, because I have been loving this game otherwise.

If ANet really wants people to “just do what you love doing” and still not be penalized for it, then they should bring out real options sooner rather than later. “Complete 5 out of 7 choices to complete monthly” would be wonderful. I’d gladly skip fractals and dungeons because I really love this game but really hate having to do dungeons over and over. Been there, done that.

Just my two cents too. You know, you don’t need the laurels to have fun, if that’s what you want. You just need to wait 10 more days for the same amount of laurels you’d had 10-days earlier, just by doing dailies. It is a game for crying out loud, you literally can choose to do what you love doing. The only thing at risk here is pride, as we can see. No, you can’t bear the thoughts of everyone having that new shiny amulets so you must have it too. No, you can’t bear everyone having that legendary so you must have it too even though you hate the grind.

The thing is Anet makes it so that everything in this game is obtainable both by casual players or hardcore. The only difference is the time needed to get them. Which makes perfect kittening sense, if you ask me. If someone put in more effort to do something, they should be getting it faster than you.

In many other MMOs there simply isn’t this choice. Either you do this, or you lose out on this magnificent piece of gear that you simply can’t do without. Now tell me in gw2 what stuffs that if you don’t do this, you will lose out on? You could argue ascended backs, but wth, how many points of stat of upgrade is it from the one you could get using karma?

Really? I am not kidding – I would love to see a thief tank a champion or mobs. I have never seen a thief that outperforms the guardian in the role of tanking and dishing out damage. Perhaps the pro need to chime in on this.

I don’t know; I think there’s a reason why it’s always the guardian who volunteer to “tank” or “defend” something. Have you ever come across a situation or a group which ask the thief to “hey could you tank this kitten?”

Which champ needs “tanking”, because that only works on mobs? And whenever I see guardian “tanking” it itches me to kick him immediately. There’s a reason why I write “tank” instead of tank.

On another note, I have only seen people generally wanting to kick thiefs, not guardians. To an extreme even if the guardian is bad there is always something he brings to the team. Same cannot be said of thiefs. Have you ever been in a team and wished you had a thief instead of a guardian? Or said out aloud that “hey we have too many guardians, let’s get us some thiefs”.

Coz you know, if we want dps we just go for warriors, and if we want support and survivability and semi-“tank” (we use this term loosely now) we opt for guardians.

" the thing about thiefs is when you do these it takes away from your main attacks, while lets say warriors, can just Shout in addition to doing 100b at the same time, not one or the other"

the above is true, notice it even in my mid-level thief.
