if you know what came with the base game, and that this same base game has been sold upto only 10 euro’s, only then will you realise how much of a cash grab this expansion has been.

The fact that 50% of their promised content is STILL NOT IN THE GAME is laughable at best.

Right now you could assume anet is scrambling for resources, announcing x & y, promising z along with it trying to deliver the next bang that players are waiting for.

Yet we have a whole bunch of players shamlessly defending the 35 euro price tag for 5 account shared inventory slots, proving pretty much that their gemshop buiseness model is doing more then just fine.

It makes me puke to see them already talking about a new expansion pack when SO MUCH is broken in this one they shouldn’t have even considered thinking about one.

But who cares, next time they just launch account shared equipment slots for 50 euro and people will no doubt buy these to raise the funds needed for their next xpac wich will be priced 60 and will include only 1 map.

Why I think HoT failed

The only thing that didn’t fail are elite specs in pve & the music.

If they fix pvp & wvw this game is just gw2 again with a few extra jungle maps with timed meta’s tied to them.

No immersion, no engagement, nothing of that is what I feel when exploring HoT maps. Just a big clusterkitten of “what the kitten is going on here”

Scarlet’s lore did the job so much better in every way .

Empty HoT maps ... Mega Server bugged?

I bought HoT 3 weeks ago.

I haven’t been in a full map once. I play on WSR (EU), one of the lowest populated servers. Maybe thats a part of why i’m always trasnfered into small active, deserted maps that have a not much more then a handfull of players doing a single event if i’m lucky.

It’s been frustrating me every day since i bought the expansion as most of the content in HoT is group based or requires alot of time and not much room for error if you want to succesfully solo them.

I’m in a guild, one that used to be the biggest guild in our server. Megaserver destroyed it all. We have an average of 20/30 players online at the same time. The leaders / commanders are fed up trying to organise things as we are useally left deserted. Even after trying to set up event websites, community portals and the like.

Yes, you could argue I could join a guild or search for community events that are globally advertised. But thats not how I want to experience the expansion.

The fact that all of this stuff is time based also makes it a pain in the kitten to get my stuff completed.

It all just feels like a drag to me

At the same time we’re still stuck with 3 month old precursors for a backpiece that is already available in the game.

We did it boys and girls!

Did you get it? Was it worth it?

I farmed 8k, bought the remaining 2. If I could draw back time I would have probably skipped it. But it was hard to quit when i was already halfway there

Considering the problem you’re having with masteries, I predict you’ll have even more problems if you get them. It looks like you want to create legendaries. Once again, you’ll be back complaining about the same issues. I suggest you stop while you’re ahead. The only masteries you’ll use are the fractal masteries.

No, thats not my plan
And for the record, I already made a legendary before

You know what I want?

Being able to explore HoT without a kitten flashing exp bar everytime I enter tyria, and then being reminded I have to visit old places i never liked in the first place.

You skipped over it. skipping over it means you put less time and effort into it than people that did not skip over it and got the achievements and now the mastery points.
Now you can go back and also put the same amount of time and effort as others. Unless of course, in the past, you were standing next to the legendary champions in SW and decided not to hit them, or decided to zone out before completing events in SW. maybe you decided not to jump off the diving spots but you can ignore that if you don’t want to go back and do it.
And as far as the living story goes those achievements do take a lot of work which you haven’t done because you have to pay for it. You mentioned your finals keeping you from it and that is understandable although you only needed to log in I think once a month. Idk maybe your finals were taking months. There were emails sent out when releases happened. Maybe a net needed to give you a special phone call. Anyway good luck getting anywhere acting so belligerent.

Also you’re saying this as if the meta was REQUIRED to be completed when they added whatever content that is linked to mastery’s today. Wich wasn’t the case

It was a sense of progression towards a skin piece and additional AP for those who liked to collect it.

Not once did this kind of content block you out from anything else in this game. Now it does

Again

Read my posts

I’m complaining about the various ways (or lack thereof) for mastery’s

The point isen’t that this content happens to be SW or whatever kittening achievement.
It is about this mastery system forcing me through content I DONT LIKE.

Last time i post this, is it really this hard to understand

If they added points for WvW achievements or PVP or fractals I wouldn’t make this thread as I would have VARIOUS WAYS of maxing my mastery.

AND GUESS WHAT?! NOTHING would change except for EVERYONE have MORE WAYS to fully max their mastery’s and MORE OPTIONS TO DECIDE HOW TO DO IT.

Is that really to much to ask for?

PLEASE…
If you don’t get this, then kitten off my thread and don’t tell me i skipped or i was lazy because I have been playing this game for 3 years just like everyon else.

“play how you want” does not apply to this. It was a statement about getting to max level and getting the strongest gear, which at the time was only exotic. Want masteries? Do things that earn masteries. Doesn’t matter if you like that activity or not.

YES IT DOES!

HoT is an EXPANSION
not a freaking new game.

did you read through my thread?

I’m not complaining about the amount of options, i’m complaining about what the options require me to do.

I’ll be more specific:

Why can’t I unlock tyria mastery’s through hot content?
Why Didn’t they add mastery’s related to fractals?
Why didn’t they add mastery’s related to dungeons or pvp?
Why didn’t they add mastery’s related to WvW?

You’re failing to understand the point and design structure behind Mastery Points. There are not meant to be more Mastery Points than you need to unlock all the Masteries. Mastery Points are meant to be a finite resource. The fact that you ran out and are now stuck with options you don’t like is testament to it actually working as intended.

Read my above post

This works as intended for NEW Players. Not for old ones who decided to skip content because back in the day you could obtain various things in various ways.

Now go ahead and tell me how I have to learn and accept things like doing things I don’t like. But from what I recall, I payed 35 & 45 to play the things I WANT they way they told me I COULD PLAY IT HOW I WANT.

You guys seem to suck on anet a lot honestly speaking.

“10 minutes I could spend farming my winter’s essence (crucial 10 minutes for that matter btw)”

This makes it sound like you just want things for free without effort which frankly makes me have no sympathy for you. If you don’t want to put the effort into getting something then you don’t deserve it.
And before you say it’s just a dive achievo, the point of mastery points is to experience different parts of the game and diving is part of the game.

DONT YOU GET IT

IVE DONT THESE THINGS

JEZUS

How many times do I have to repeat it

I don’t have the achievements? Yes, BECAUSE I DIDNT CARE ABOUT THEM

If I KNEW they would be REQUIRED for PROGRESSION ON MASTERIES I WOULD HAVE kittenING DONE THEM

How hard is it to comprehend this after all the posts I made

This game is FORCING ME to do CONTENT I ALREADY EXPLORED BEFORE.

No I didn’t farm AP like every other guy used to to back in 2013. I was playing fractals and upping my level, working on ascended gear and farming materials + gold for my legendary.

I have visitted EVERY place, and most likely EVERY diving location there is in this game.

Did I jump down? no! Because I didn’t give a kitten about that.

Now this game is sending me there AGAIN when i could use this time exploring NEW THINGS

Feel like I want get things handed to me?

Go ahead and craft a light armor ascneded set when it still required well over 12 bolts of damask when it was 14g per piece compared to 5g deldrimor & 3g elonian

Thats how free I got my things

> Dive in various locations in tyria (seriously anet? this? a kittening mastery point??)

This takes about ten minutes and was made easier with Heart of Thorns.

10 minutes I could spend farming my winter’s essence (crucial 10 minutes for that matter btw)

Kill the SW legendary bosses (Rng based boss spawn chance)

Easy.

Please elaborate, because I went to sw over 7x this week and not once did I encounter even one of the legendary bosses. Does anet expect me to camp this stuff for over two weeks?

- Complete my remaining season 2 story’s wich are locked for me and require a 100g or 800 gem investment

Why didn’t you play when they were free? 100g is virtually nothing anyway.

Because I was inactive during the time (finals) and I had no idea they would make it locked behind a money gate after the release.

Mind donating that 100g to me? you say its virtually nothing, for me thats a week of work ingame.

It also sounds like you already have quite a lot of mastery points; everything besides what you listed means you’re only missing 1-5. Big deal.

Are you suprised btw? For playing 3 years I expected anet to have enough decency to figure out & know most players have grew sick & tired of maps like silverwasted & dry top when it was practically the only two maps that had any activity going on.

And yes, big deal, because its forcing me to waste my time in places I have already visited ankitten ot intrested about.

Got HoT about a week ago.

Few days ago i realised I am short about 6 points towards maxing my tyria masteries

My options?

- Grind tripple ascended armor
- Grind useless & ugly collections (ambrite or luminescent)
- Dive in various locations in tyria (seriously anet? this? a kittening mastery point??)
- Kill the SW legendary bosses (Rng based boss spawn chance)
- Complete my remaining season 2 story’s wich are locked for me and require a 100g or 800 gem investment (Shame on you for not including this within HoT, seriously)
- buy all cultural armor (another 200+ gold investment)
- Triple trouble (Most likely the easiest of them all since this is still organised frequently)

The joy when i discovered all my remaining points i can earn are locked behind maps that are deserted except for the main meta event or a complete and utterly pointless grindfest towards a collection achievement or a season 2 story that should have been included into the hot purchase in the first place.

Anet, There’s a kittening reason I never completed my drytop & silverwastes achievements. There’s a reaon I never finished my ambrite collection and there’s a reason I never finished crafting triple ascended.

Where’s your sense of loyalty anet? Did you really threw ALL OF IT away after you decided to rebrand your entire game and live up to everything except the things you promised pre season 2?

Did none of you consider that you’re locking mastery’s behind content some people don’t even enjoy? behind collections people don’t bat an eye about?

Why don’t you award me some points for the 5000 fractals i’ve been running over the past 3 years. No, only having the fractal weapon collection doesnt cut it, especially since that was completely rng before hot to begin with.

What about my outstanding performance during marionette? or during the LA defense?

Nothing?

Thanks a kittening lot.

So much for exploring NEW content

HoT maps aren’t really that much harder then SW/DT & SC (southsun cove)

PVE was rediculously easy (google champion train for more info) so anet increased the skillgap a bit by making more CC based mobs and giving them more hp/toughness or whatever mechanic they have now in HoT.

I remember getting rekt pretty much instantly when i entered DT with a full zerk set.
Now I’m playing a zerk ele for almost 3 years and it does affect your survivability by a ton. It’s safe to say that HoT is just a map that requires you to know your class verry well. Wich is something I’d actually encourage to stick with.

Masteries are a good addition to the game. For new players this might seem like a ton of work, but thats what it is supposed to be. These masteries require work even for players who were here during launch.

Gw2 is essentially skinwars 2. Once you reach an 80 character and have it fully pink geared there isent much left as far as progression goes other then doing achievements and collecting skins.

If that isen’t your cup of tea this game will slowly become a boring pain.

Good thing this game doesn’t have subscription and allows you to leave and come back at any time you wish.

Low fractal:

Bunch of T6 mats (mostly vials & claws)
Bunch of lodestones
Exotics

High fractal

Shard of mist essence
Tons of +1 infusions
Green/blue crap
Occasionaly a rare or exotic

Its probably RNG, but the loot just feels so much better on lower tiers for me

But I see these same comments in every topic again: “yes, they will add legendary armor soon”

When is soon anyway?

People have been saying this before the game launched, then have been hyped up about it somewhere inbetween the season 1 ending & beginning of episode 2. Now here we are with the first xpac and still no legendary armor.

Something tells me it just isen’t going to happen.

Press the back page on your browser and read all the rage threads about winter presence

If people are already crying over ONE item that is locked behind a grindfest imagine how the community would react if they did so with 6 pieces, probably with much more grind then the current JP farm drink fest they added in with the festival.

And as long as this lazy community keeps ranting about every bit of grind they add in this game I don’t see how this will give anet any reason to reconsider it at all.

My 2 cents

What is "rotation" and "Min Max"?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: alwinp.2791

alwinp.2791

Rotation – the most efficient order of using abilities.
Min-Max – doing everything to maximize whatever is important, in this game, it’s damage. So in this case, it would refer to using all consumable items, all buff’s ect. to do the most damage possible.

I personally find marauders + zealot to be a potent combination. You sacrifice a little damage in order to reset faster. Even if you’re daredevil those three dodges still need proper management and you will need to tank some smaller hits. Staff 5 is good for damage and dodging, but it costs a nice bit of initiative so a good rotation involves mostly autoattacking, staff 2 for weakness, more autoattack, staff 5 for big attack evade +damage, and staff 4 for strategic blinds. Base heals tend to be weak and all you do with zealot is sacrifice a bit of fercoity, which only comes into play during critical hits anyway and with four pieces of marauder armor plus five pieces of marauder jewelry (trinkets, one ring, amulet, and zealot ring) you’re still going to have lots of ferocity to boost your bonus damage when it procs.

I think it’s weird that they are churning out so many black lion weapon sets and yet their expansion shipped with three legendary weapons and an appallingly low number of new in-game skins overall.

Then again, they’re pushing microtransactions so hard you wouldn’t think they’d just released an expansion pack valued at $50.

I’ve never seen a game go F2P that didn’t begin drastically changing the design of the game to shuttle into the store and/or begin seriously altering and pushing their in-game store as opposed to actual gameplay.

People complaining about HoT pricetag...

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Did you forget this is a B2P game? They are running the servers you play on for free, providing patches and content for free and do not require a subscription. Other MMOs require monthly $14 subs + $30 to $40 for expansion.

Remember.. B2P not F2P.

Fed up with this BS backing up? Did you even play at release?

Do you even remember the promises they made during release?

We’d have patches every month, we’d never see an expansion. It didn’t fit their buiseness model. The game would evolve arround living world

And here we are 3 years later
An xpac announced for nearly as much as the full game price.

Here we are 3 years later
Still stuck in a boring world where patches are rare then obtaining legendaries materials ingame

Here we are 3 years later
Where they discontinued living world updateds and resorted to price tagging story quests for season 2.

So much for their promises.

I bought this game 3 years ago, knowing it would be B2P but without any idea we’d be ‘forced’ to shell out another 50 to continue progression and discover new lands in the world of tyria.

I expected, based on their glorious hyping, that after 3 years i would be able to log in and vendor off from where i left. No restrictions, available right from the go as you log in again.

I was a fool, but I’m not going to be fooled again.

Go ahead and feel proud on your pre-order
Go ahead and tell us how the pricing is fair to make your purchase more justifiyable

I’m still a guy that knows hype means nothing, I’m still a guy that weights value to quality & quanity.

And from the little info we know about this xpac. it wouldn’t even justify a 40$ pricetag.

Anet can fool me once, twice, but i know when their desperate tactics for money are there, and this pre-order is one of them.

Silly, obvious and ruthless marketing strategy’s.

That is all i have to say about it.

there are like 7m accounts. if even 1% of the entire playerbase buys in to the preorder, your reddit thread is irrelevant.

And how many of these accounts are dupe accounts? 2nd account for mat storing, 2nd accounts for spare char slots, 2nd accounts for wvw tier farming?

I’m not hating because of the “free game included” (wich essentialy isen’t true)

I’m hating because the price tag doesnt justify the content we will get. at least not now.

If they informed their players a bit more, told us what would come with the expansion from A to Z it would probably have offered much less rage then we see now.

I’m hating because after playing in & out for 3 years they still seem to resort to desperate measures for trying to keep their game alive, neglecting ALL DECENT SUGGESTIONS GIVEN BY VETERAN PLAYERS TO KEEP THE GAME SOMEWHAT INTRESTING ALONG THE WAY.

I’m hating because they simply ignored all our warnings and continue to do so.

I grant them a safe future and much developing, but i’m not some mindless idiot shelling out money for hyped up things.

I will wait it out, watch reviews and see if its actually worth 50 or 40.

Till then I will have my hand full with other titles (wich are free and offer pretty much more then this game currently does)

Yours cincerly

lol @ meteor shower nerf
lol @ icebow nerf

Granted, the icebow nerf will happen. It sucks, but consider its actually 2 weapons and the casttime of skill 4 isent that long I could agree on it.

People asking for a meteor shower however….

Tell me how many times you can cast meteor shower and still have full health, if any health at all

Tell me how many times your meteor shower actually hits your target (also assuming pugs here)

Go ahead a nerf it, everyone will just move to scepter/dagger and dps that way.

Koutalophile achievement

Hi,

I recently came back from a long break and realised some places dropped spoons needed for a collection achievement.

I never really bothered about the spoons untill now and realised that the achievement is not even listed on my account.

I already had 3 different spoons in my bag when i decided to check what else I needed.

I also tried buying some of them from vendors to see if that would trigger the achievement to pop up somehow but to no avail.

Friends who started playing after me have it shown in their lists.

I never completed it either, even if i did i would still show in the list but it simply doesnt.

Anyone else who had this issue?
Is there a way to solve this?

thats why i always use my dungeon tokens only.
If i get a worthless exo i just sell and make gold that way

Its a guaranteed profit.

Along with the gold i gain from doing the dungeons it will eventually leed you to the sum you need to buy whatever pre it is you need.

what they need to do is keep eotm as an overflow map

And use the borderlands as the real source for player counting

I play on WSR and its just depressing to see how we get overun every time and time again.

at best we can get a zerg up with about 20/50 players, prime time.
To bad we face 200 player zerks all the time during prime and 20+ during nights at best. Wsr is pretty much abandoned during nights except for a few dedicated guilds.

The ounumbered buff is just a silly thing aswell

33% more dps isen’t going to make us win a fight against group 2 times our size, they just instantly rek you 1 by 1 till you are forced to run for it or call it a day.

Why can’t they limit the players from more crowded servers to fit that of the abandoned ones

Oh, you can’t join because the cap is reached? to bad, go play a bit of eotm in overflow

At least this mechanic would push players to actually move servers that need players instead of joining top tier and zerg everyone else.

Where things went off the rails was that Exotic is too easily accessible and it diminished all value of “top tier accomplishment”

I disagree with this statement, but I am also a GW1 veteran. To me it should be easy to get BiS gear by the time you are max level. Then the rest of the game is simply about playing. About doing the things you enjoy for shinies that you like. And that’s what the game was sold as. That’s what we expected, and then they turned it on it’s ear.

See and gw2 offers just that. content X is added and everyone can hop in and enjoy it.

Yet most people (who clearly don’t seem to own ascended) come and point fingers as if if ascended is the source of all problems.

Why can’t you people just play your game with exotic and pretend ascended is not there?

Why can’t you people appreciate the efforts some players have put in to craft ascended?

Why can’t you people just assume the fact that ascended changes NOTHING except giving players a goal to work for.

All i read here is bash, bash, bash
Wow comparisons wich are off the chart and don’t even make sense because you know, they are different games with different mechanics.

This game IS build arround cosmetics because if you are finished crafting ascended (wich you can skip if you cba about a minor stat boost) everything evolves arround backpieces / armor collections / mystic forged skins.

Did you know legendary weapons have the same stats as ascended? no one ever complained about that, wierd right?

About scarlet, I recently met a sylvari player that looked pretty much identical to scarlet.

I don’t remember the name but it was quite shocking to see it for the first time.

and you’re forgetting that alot of players who’d supposdly work a job at min wage will consider this as a game and threat it as such. just because you can buy 25 keys in hour of work in real life doesnt mean they will.

Experienced players who have enough gold by now also know thats its way more convenient to just flip it on TP or investing it into gems so they can return it into profit months later.

Most gold comes from in the game itself, the value of gems increasing in a steady line since launch is prove of that.
The people now buying a stupid fan for 600 gems through gold is prove of that

Even if DR kicks in you’re still going to make gold, just less then what you are used to.

@mikal, victus meant the returns if you’d npc all your stuff. i doubt that would leave you in a loss tho. but TP is there for a reason and you’d be blunt out ignorant if you don’t decide to use it and consider npc vendors as your source of income.

Because those who already did it eventually DID craft it for the stat boots. its like a “why not” thing.

What’s so hard to understand about that.

It was NEVER REQUIRRED, it was purely OPTIONAL. infact, IT STILL IS OPTIONAL

You don’t need ascended, but you have the OPTION to make it and reap SMALL BENEFITS that give you reason to do it in the first place.

because again, who would spend all that time, effort & gold to make a set that ends up giving you the same thing you already have?

Please nolop, i replied to you twice what will happen when you reduce stats. especially the last part of my 1st post.

It seems to me you can’t be kitten d to go through the trouble of making one. That is fine, but don’t destroy the effort for people who actually did.

You don’t want ascended because you fear it would make content to easy? sure, then don’t use it.

That brings me to my next question, what do you consider hard content in the first place. jungle wurm? tequatl? both are challanging bosses and wsr still tends to fail it if we don’t bring one organized guild into the channel.

Thats how easy the content is these days, right?

Its not because people run arround in ascended, its because these people have done this content for a billion times now and they know the mechanics and how to play arround based on them, as efficiently as possible. Changing ascended stats is not going to do anything about that except kitten off the players who made a set (wich will be many these days)
