As I mentioned on other post. 9 stacks of Hardening Persistence got removed when ending Embrace of Darkness instead of 7. This only occur on Embrace end and other upkeep skills works perfectly fine.

Here is video proof of it:

I found only Phantom Hood to be nice “hood” for Heavy Armor. Other than that I dislike helmets in heavy armors. In Bank wardrobe You can see almost all pieces of armor.

As fan of Disturbed this helmet was a huge hit in my eyes. I coudn’t resist to get one.

Hardening Persistence bug?

in Revenant

Posted by: amiia.8139

amiia.8139

There is something wrong with Hardening Persistence? It works as stated in most combination apart from one upkeep skill combination.

Facet of Nature + Embrace of Darkness. This combo gives 9 stacks but upon canceling Embrace it cancels all stacks of Hardening Persistence even those gained from Facet of Nature.

It is major drawback because to regain 2 stack You need to reapplay Face of Nature to get back those 2 stack that went missing after cancelling Embrace.

Other skill combos don’t cancel 2 stack of Hardening Persistence.

Pocket Raptors – I love them the same as I hate them. One Pocket Raptor is cute and can’t do harm but 10-15 of them? If You don’t act You would end up like in Jurrasic Park encountering Velociraptors.

Leave Pocket Raptors as they are. I can’t stand world without these pesky cute lettle zerglings! Beauties and beasts in one. xD

From my point of view:

Staff is great tool but it feel like slowpoke and don’t add up to my Power/Toughness/Ferocity Reaper build.
Axe/Focus on other hand has more vuln stacking capabilites what give me huge opening profit for decimate defenses. When target is out of boons and rended vulnerable switch to GS and simply finish him with fatality 10k+ gravedigger.

Staff with my build won’t work that way. It simply won’t provide that kind of opening like Axe/Focus is doing.

Seriously? Necro-Reaper has nothing significant to offer compared to other elites. Don’t nerf what is great afterall. Reaper feels like it is in perfect spot right now.

You know what? I got used for these 3 years while playing Necro to that point I need to overcome class weaknesses. But now with Reaper I can easly facetank most of content with Tou/Condi/Prec + a little of heal build (without time limits I could solo all HP).
But it is far way away from being “overpowered” and able to solo. It is fun to play at this point and name for spec really stand for his name.

MMO means “Massively Multiplayer Online”.
I agree that it do not means you should not play solo, but it’s not meant to make solo playing as “easy and rewarding” than group content.
Group content must be challenging to be interesting.
And the game must promote group content over soloing.

If you can do anything alone, it’s not a MMO.

I’d agree to a certain extent but perhaps scale the difficulty if there is a solo player and reward as applicable.

When you say " the game must promote group content over soloing." I’d have to disagree with you there. Given there are a lot of people who solo, there’s a danger of alienating a big percentage of the player base.

You know that it is impossible to create content that is balanced, doable and enjoyable by all types of players? Mass/Raid, Group, Duos and Solo? They all focus on diffrent things to succeed. There should be solid part of game for all these groups but not common. It is like racial or man/woman issues. We shoudn’t be disgracing them but why they should be prirorized? They should be equal but not in favour.
But MMO games are ment and designed to be multiplayer. So promoting solo content over group content is like making loan but instead of cashout – You put that money in bank. In the end You get your money back but minus % of loan.

Wow, I cant believe im seeing all this complaining about grouping up in an MMO. Isn’t that the point? I was coming here just to say how much i enjoy it and i see this thread.
Every time I play the new content im excited that it so hard you have to group up. It actually feels like an accomplishment when you finish something. Also its a good reason to run around with your guild/friends. You do have friends, right?
Anyways, thanks Anet for some quality content. Please don’t downgrade the difficulty. There already plenty of easy content in the game. My guild and I are having a blast.

Nods – some of us, however, also have a RL which keeps interrupting game play. How would you feel if 2 group members went afk every 10 minutes or so for 20 minutes? Kick them? Probably.

And that’s how my playtime is … usually a phone call every 30 to 40 minutes requiring my attention for 15+ minutes. And that’s why I play solo most of the time … and yes, we’re already talking after-work hours.

I would wait for them like always I do. First of all I don’t need to rush and I always have fun with my gaming buddies since long years now. We had this kind of situations over and over. This is not a problem afterall for thinking people with real life.

Er – you say “lack of population” I say “lack of players” yet you go aggressive on me … take a shower, a cold one, and look up “politeness” before you post again.

As a GW1 player I know how many Zones we had (and still have) on festivities. Now you can go to the boss maps in GW2 and see how often you get the “leave map” message and also how easy it is to force a new map by mass zoning.

Time has moved on and ALL MMOs have a population problem. That is why GW2 decided to do self-sufficient classes in the first place – so that people would not be forced to look for party members to do content. They still added party only content but about 90% – 95% of the game can be played solo without the need of henchmen or heroes.

So – where’s the contradiction to anything I said except being rather rude? Had a bad day and just wanted to vent off some steam?

HoT, though, did change all that – most players and classes will be hard pressed to solo the most important parts of HoT (for getting XP to unlock masteries and getting the HP to unlock their elite spec) once the maps get less population. And, yes, that is a failed design – especially as the loot is not really overwhelming so people will (at the moment) probably still grind Silverwastes because it gives better rewards per hours spent.

And – as someone working in quality assurance – I meet developer swho so totally do not get it every day. It’s not a matter of being a loudmouth, it’s a matter of trying to avoid boxed thinking and trying to see where things lead to. Developers have a rather focused point of view – that’s needed to get their things done (and not redesign 10 times while coding) but the drawback of this is, that they sometimes tend to not see consequences outside of their current view.

And – think the trait system that was introduced with the NPE – sometimes they can be HORRIBLY wrong in predicting the consequences of their coding.

I like HoT – but it has a few drawbacks that need to be worked on/thought over before too many frustrated players have left (do you read the feedback threads – not an ideal situation) and the extension get’s an (undeserved) bad rating because of a few (but important) bad design choices.

Now this makes real point so please forgive me past rude behaviour. Just got distracted and didn’t get whole point of Your view (honestly I sometimes feel like monster that I’m trying to fight with – but that is another looong story to chat with a glass of whisky along).

For me they should focus on group content. As I played GW1 had always fun with friends and tried many various attempts thru all encounters (both pve and pvp). In GuildWars2 i felt lack of unique style of GW1. I just steamrolled over campaing with no problem at all with my Necro. Since few days in expansion I felt that I may require to ressurect my friends from other games to mess around and check if it is doable with simple party containing pack of friends. I had no problem at all so far to progress alone but I’m still waiting for my comrades to say about fun in xpac. You never can say about fun in MMO games when playing alone. Why when someone want to play alone want to look at massive multiplayer genre? To be mainstream? Because it is “cool”? There are tons of other singleplayer oriented games out there that are ten times better than GuildWars.

For good and bad design just compare design of ArcheAge to GuildWars2. People still play this trash – yet it is poorly designed to be grindcore festival and credit cash drainer. Of course You can’t compare these to games because these are two diffrent types of MMO but when You compare design of GW2 it is still pretty good afterall. Atleast more friendly to new users.

We – as community – shoudn’t see in “money glass”. As I see most of people pay and demand. They feel like kings in the castle after they spent a cash. Everything is connected to “I buy and I demand”. This is not how it is working. People shoudn’t be buying things that they don’t like and they should only things that they like. This only can force change in game genre.
So we can’t buy and demand to fix something is broken. We can buy and give advice – feedback. But please don’t turn it into complains and demands. Feedback is something that helps game grow but not with front sentence like “I bought game and it is broken, fix blablabla”.
Anyone who don’t like – don’t buy. Anyone who like – buy. Everyone give positive feedback and not complains nor throw away grief.

Ah yes – and because this worked out so well in GW1 they added those nice heroes an upped their number and functionality and absolutely because of that they made the classes in GW2 self sufficient …

Sue whoever tried to teach you logic ….

They added it later on as there was lesser players to end content. Have You played pre-nightfall? There was no heroes till second xpansion and everything was working fine.

GW2 is suffering from a lack of players (hence the mega servers) …. so GW2 is where GW1 was after nightfall, population wise …

Any proof in real data, loudmouth? Megaservers were a fix for lack of population. You really thing that Devs didn’t calculated this? You feel smarter than Devs? Go ahead and create game like GW, I dare You. Until then don’t spread bullkitten about game development and my logic, Mister Dotter.

Getting together with people doesn’t make you smart, it means you like being lazy on average. And this game just so happens to reward lazy.

For example, on WoW if you could solo dungeons that were your level (probably stopped being possible in WotLK, pre-DK nerf), you got a much larger reward. You didn’t have to split gold between characters or share loot.

In GW2, the “richest” people are idiots who run in circles, literally all kitten day long, killing the same 6-8 mobs over and over, times several hundred. And what do they do? Right click the monsters once and cast an ability. I say AN ability, because the creature is usually dead by the time they can cast another ability. Ooooo, such team work. And the hero points aren’t much better. They are so easy with multiple players that it’s not worth considering it a challenge.

If anything, I am getting tired of you brainless sleeple ruining the game for everyone. You’ve already screwed the economy, and Fractals made it so solo players will likely never have as good of gear as you (at least anywhere near as quickly). And now you want to monopolize new content before other people get the chance? Screw that.

You realize that You just insulted 100% of MMO game community? I highly disgrace this attitude in MMO because it kills this genre. For solo games probably You should go back to Baldurs Gate times. Games are meant to be played together. Group based games are in advance to single ones. Even if we look at non-computer games.

Yes they are smart. They group together to do it easy way. But they need to GROUP first. They need to think first what would make it easy! Zerg usually wins everywhere. More hands in work = easier work. But “richest” people are the smartest ones – in the game and out of game.
First of all think what would happen when in game like this “KillSteal” would be involved like in other games. There would be so much flame involved and no meta events would progress.
Second of all You are poor because You dip fangs ino zerg rushers? Join them – they are just doing what is effective. It is not about “team work” it is about what is effective and what is not.

To short things up. They see profit – they group up and profit, You see mindless zerg but You didn’t realized that they aren’t stupid people. There are no stupid people except these ones who throw limits/problems at their feets.

The problem is what happens in 6 months time? When players return to wvw, pvp, fractals, raids, or whatever their preference is and these maps and up mostly empty? I don’t think the meta events in any of these maps will be attractive enough to draw a significant population by this time next year.

I have no problem with the difficulty of content in HoT. My problem is that elite specs should not be locked behind content that is contrived and has nothing thematic in common with the spec itself (no npc trainers, no elite specific quests, etc…). Therefore I find the hero point challenges and requirement excessive and a potential problem for players in the future once the map population declines.

And what happend in GuildWars1 when new xpacs were shipped? Sooner or later players will be in less quantity. Ask Yourself – You have our community for dumb guys that don’t have brain and will try to force solo everything? Or they are smart to team up or use map chat to ask for help? I never rejected player that was asking for help when I was near because this is not a reason to shame. Helping makes community stronger.

They created GW2 with alot of soloable content (I initially soloed whole game with Necro, prenerf) and people screamed that this is too easy. They added group required content (like it was always in since GuildWars1) and people scream that it is too hard. Oh boy, oh boy. Who the hell devs need to listen?

I have advice for You. Find Guild and do content with it. This game is meant to be played together since GuildWars1. Without my friends I woudn’t even look at GW2. So get Your back pieces togeher and stop whining about not be able to do it alone like forever alone guy.

Don’t ask me why. Low damage (probably can maintain 4500 burn+poison at best) and abit of toughness. I just randomly created it without special analysis but had fun with it and yet I managed to go thru maguma with ease (atleast in campaing to that point where I am now). ;P

The feedback to any game is a necessary part of the design. Most complains have some constructiveness to them and as such contribute to that pool of feedback that the designers need to make changes and improve.

Sad but true is that most constructive feedback are not “complains” and are very silent and mostly overshouted by complains that are the loudest ones and not so likely constructive afterall.

Call me lazy, but I have a life outside.
But Ok with the first class, but with the other 8?

You are forced to play all classes? If You don’t have time then You shouldn’t have 8 other classes. This makes no sense. ;P

My few words for complainers – why??? Why do You complain. You can choose to not buy if You feel that these money aren’t worth it.
I played one day and I’m at 80% of Reaper line. That is one godkitten day. Where is grind? Play Lineage2 or ArcheAge to see what real grind mean. And about timegated – why the kitten it should be fast to optain? Where is reward in feeling after achiving goal?

I had fun already with xpac. GW series was always in between quasi-grind feel and easy to jump in to game with new char. And it should stay like this because I enjoyed this feature.
And thanks to ANet team for being great as always. I taught that f2p and xpac could probably dampen their way but nope. They are great as always.

Haters gonna hate, fans gonna like and in the end we are all the same – players in the game. So what is that fuss about ‘complaining’? Just enjoy Your time in their game.

Honestly on PC having problem with VoIP/Voice communicators is problem of that player. Most of are lazy so it is their problem and this cleary is not a problem of a game.

There are tons of software to choose from. Anyway if they are going to bring voice service in game im going to just mute it (probably like many of other players – that prefer voice service that is out of the game).

Mate… Like hours mean anything here. I’m playing since beta of GW1 and I still don’t consider myself as “veteran”. You have too big ego fellow mate.
I’ll tell You truth 1500+ hours in GW1 means “nothing” as this game changed over time. Knowledge and understanding what comes with it means everything in GW1. GW2 is smillar in this way to GW1.
And You flame specialization that is even not released yet and You call Yourself a veteran? You seem more like funky fortuneteller that takes money and says nothing but believe it is future.

This lead us to point that after 1500+ hours You simply don’t learned anything about this game. Maybe go do more indepth research about Your problem because You are on false track at this point. Yes You have much to learn before You can title Yourself as veteran.

Stealth in MMO's will always be overpowered

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: amiia.8139

amiia.8139

2. Being able to disengage opens up a MASSIVE amount of opportunities for you.

A. Enemy just used a buff you can’t fight against? Wait it out
B. Odds somehow turned against you based on position or outnumbered? Wait it out

These mechanics became well known to me as i became the top Arena player in Archeage playing a class called “Shadowblade” which used stealth and disables. I always fought on my terms and that allowed me to potentially beat any class- even those which countered mine specifically.

In conclusion.

Stealth is = but less offensively viable than complete invulnerability, allows you to fight on you’re terms, has no immediate counter skill (no ability to keep someone from stealthing or to reveal stealth players) thus making it one of those abilities thats always safe to use. And as an added bonus- gives you time to think about you’re next move (clockless chess). This is why stealth/invisibility as a mechanic will always be overpowered.

Don’t compare GuildWars2 to ArcheAge stealth mechanics – this two are hell a diffrent ones. Stealth in GW2 (and mostly in general) isn’t something “overpowered”. It is trick and to execute it require using atleast one skill. You can’t vanish and stay invisible all day all night long without sacrificing alot from Your build. The real “threat” making it overpowered is just inability of people to counter it. Stealth in GW2 very predictable to be honest and easy to overcome.

BTW: In ArcheAge I could beat anyone just by having delphinad bow (upgraded to top tier) just by pressing 2 buttons, 3 if he had better gear than average. So probably ArcheAge is probably worst point to begin discussion in terms of balancing game mechanics.
