One thing to note is that competitive GW2 is still in it’s infancy – it’s still missing some core features I think but it’s getting close!
I haven’t signed into these forums or Guild Wars 2 for a long time. I was told about this ludicrous post and felt compelled to reply. The GW2 competitive scene must be a phoenix because this kitten died a long time ago.
If this is a sign of future reward schemes.. O.O.
No, this was a temporary change because many people were asking for holiday rewards.
We wanted skins not candy…unless you can get skins from candy…
You cannot earn any of the Halloween skins from PvP alone this time around. Once our progression/reward system is in place we will be in a much better place for dispersing gear for PvP accomplishments.
This is a huge kitten you to the PvP community, congratulations ArenaNet. You obviously know how to keep us around.
My suggestion: never use offensive wells without CC. Ever. You need at least dagger main-hand to even consider running wells, otherwise you’re basically saying “I take wells for downed pressure” which generally isn’t enough in your team unless you have massive spike damage from other sources, and then you run and pop down three wells and go “TROLOLOLOL TRY TO RES HIM NAO”.
What is your goal with this build? I feel like its doing too much at once, and none of it well (hue).
Wrong it is perfectly viable to run scepeter dagger and staff with wells. I do it very successfully playing with Good Fights and other top PvP teams. You have plenty of hard cc to keep people in wells. DS 2 > DS 3 > Staff 5 = you’re not moving out of wells. Do it on someone who’s low and it’s an assured death.
Regarding OP’s build…its not ideal for wells and I guess if you wanted to be tanky it may work. Currently I run 30/20/0/0/20; or 30/10/0/0/30.
Honestly, not upset about the nerf but it kind of ruined that necromancer 1v1 for me. That was like who can hold out until the last second with bleeds on them to swap. Now a days I just end up swapping something dumb like chill, weakness, cripple.
Would really like to see a red post here…
Fix staff 4 and or stop with the stealth nerfs. In the beginning it used to remove all your condis, then it removed 5, and now it removes 3 per target hit essentially making it the same as dagger 4. This was never mentioned in any patch notes. Furthermore staff 4 is no longer removing conditions from allies.
Edit: Punctuation.

What a joke. So now we’re even more niche. Forced to run 20 points into the defensive tree… I play top tier tPvP and no one was complaining about staff marks being too good.
On top of nerfing staff by moving it to the Master line. You still haven’t fixed the staff 4 transfer bug, where it only transfers 3 condis instead of whatever amount you may have.
What a kittening joke. If you nerf some aspect of something you buff another aspect. I get that you increased stock mark radius. However, a proper buff would have been that and Great Marks radius increased to 300.
Instead you promise survivability and reduced damage. But you reduced our damage, reduced our survivability, and made us run more niche builds. Good job.
I’m honestly not sure you guys know what you’re doing anymore.
The column on the right is marked as torment (immob) which means immobilized. ie not moving.
So I made an excel spreadsheet with condition damage as stated in the wiki.
The only condi that isn’t there is fear.
I left burning on because it gives a really solid comparison for every other condi
Please note this sheet assumes that the condition is left on for a full second.
I’m not here to make conclusions just provide information.
Deathshroud 5 should, in all honestly be a necro only condition. The fact that it will be for every class is already gimping the necro even more so than it is now. You want to balance the necro with a Deathshroud 5. Make it an ungodly peel. Necros have next to no survivability. Also, Deathshroud 5 should put more than 1 condition on the target. Give me burning, please. Also, if you want to make Signet of Spite viable – give it every other kittening condition that Necro’s do not easily have access to.
But in all seriousness the Deathshroud 5 should summon a random Thief out of hotjoin to peel for the necro. This can be used once every 2 minutes. Thief will encounter a giant loading screen at random in hot join and be presented with the text “PREPARE TO PEEL FOR NECRO”. Once in said thief will be given every boon in the game and immediately start spamming hear seeker on the Necro’s target. When he presses a button Thief will be in control and in for one minute. Immediately after the Thief is returned to the Heart of the Mists.
title says it all.
Yup, this build was inspired by hgh engineers cuz they’re so broken. Despite the might stack not being the broken thing about engineers. I decided to try to stack might on a necro and it proved to be really successful. However, this build is really dependent on your team. You are squishy. You have no stun breaks. You will die every time 2v1 and some 1v1s. You do MASSIVE damage.
With 25 stacks of might and 25 stacks of minor corruption your condi damage hovers around 2300. Your power is also up there. DS1 crits the big dummy for 2700ish. Your wells will tick for about 1k. Your bleeds will tick for 130+.

Cast time needs to be reduced.
I agree with the nerf in some respects. Not requiring LOS was perhaps too good. However, big epidemics were still rare and hard to land.
1/2 cast time with a 20sec recharge rate would make for much better play.
