I would like to see an option to have a keybind to expand the utilities menu for better on the fly utility changes. For example I could assign Shift + My keybinding for a utility slot, which when pressed would open the utility menu so I can click a new ability for that slot.
I would like to see a tint on items so that you can tell what quality they are without having to float over them. No it’s not an important gripe but given how fast the inventory fills up, particularly during large living story events such as the one going on right now, being able to quickly salvage can be important as far as keeping up momentum.
If you would have asked me before I started playing WoW, I would have said that you can just get lost in the world, wander about, and spend your time helping others/getting into your own adventures. You don’t need the game to tell you what to do. I was the last of my friends to get to lvl 60 in vanilla because I kept walking around doing my own thing and helping out others. The wandering white knight.
Post wow however there are new expectations and goals that weren’t there in past games. For one thing achievements ruined a lot of that free roaming feeling. There’s now a huge list of things that you have to do to get points so you can get the rewards. And particularly with live story, there’s a ticking clock that’s rushing you into getting them done before the content is over.
You’re not supposed to get drops that you want from mobs, you’re supposed to get stuff you can sell on the TP to make the money you need to buy the stuff you want, just like D3. Still confused how people don’t get it.
Not saying you’re wrong…..just curious where you came up with that? Is it opinion, or a statement about the game design from Anet?
More of an observation. It’s the best way to get what you want in the game, particularly when you factor in diminishing returns on drops from killing specific mobs. Obviously they did this because they don’t want people to farm for specific items because it would mess with the economy and people would just be farming all day. With the above system, you can continue doing whatever you want, knowing that you’re going to at least be making money to buy the items you want.
This was particularly obvious when you get into crafting. I would probably still be working on getting my disciplines to max if I wasn’t buying mats of the TP using money I got from selling mats and items that I wasn’t using.
I don’t like how most of the zones are rectangles.
I don’t have a lot of time to play games lately so the lack of LFG tool is rather irritating to me, not a major gripe, but it would be nice to be able to see some of the dungeons.
I don’t like the way WOW did dailies. Having static quests that you do the same every day. It really adds nothing to the game.
I love the way Guild Wars 2 does it however. The randomness of the dailies and the different requirements mean that it encourages you to go to places/do things/play alts you wouldn’t do otherwise.

I find the best thing to do in the event of a burnout is to play another game, preferably something of a totally different genre. For example if I’m burning out on an MMO, I’ll go play an FPS for a bit, or a strategy game. Your brain needs stimulation, when the game stops being stimulating, you have to try something else. When you come back then you’ll be refreshed.
And of course I don’t mean quit playing GW2 all together. I mean just play something else for a few hours and come back. Usually works for me.
Anybody know if this has been fixed?
“As a boon, I find retaliation invaluable and I find absolutely no reason to change any of the ways we receive it through skills/traits.
But of course, I am no expert in “game balance” so please forgive my noobness for asking.”
Maybe they don’t want a particular boon to be invaluable. I think the intention of ANET was for buffs to be short and situational, one that you can keep up at all times therefore isn’t.
-1. They moved the abilities to different slots. Just get used to it. Change isn’t scary.
Guardian changes, why I am so upset. Question about the balancing process

Having to re-jig your builds has always been an aspect of MMOs that you’ll have to deal with. I can’t count the number of times I had to re-do it in WoW, pretty much every patch.
I’m of the mind that bad ranged isn’t as big of an issue as lack of rewards for support. For example I was helping defend a garrison wall by using staff 4 to buff damage, and switching to shield to put up the bubble to defend the ranged who were being attacked by enemy ranged firing from the ground. My heals, shields and buffs saved quite a few of our guys from concentrated strikes. I felt useful. But I was discouraged that, despite all my hard work, I didn’t get a single loot bag at my feet.
My god I didn’t realize people feared change this much. Just get used to it, what’s the big deal?
I’m still very interested in the game. I leveled my Guardian to 80 which was fun the whole way. Once I hit 80 I maxed my chef/weaponsmith, then switched chef for armorsmith and maxed that out. I’ve been using those 2 to make my Draconic Explorer’s set so now my magic find is through the roof. I spend my time in game going to various zones trying to get zone completions and yet because of scaling I’m still finding challenges.
The fun in the game for me is immersing myself in the zone. For instance I was in Malchor’s leap and just through reading map chat I found a group of people that were trying to push the world event to completion. Unfortunately is was bugged and we couldn’t get it to go past a certain point. Yes the game has bugs and yes they kitten me off but every game has bugs and I’m not just going to quit GW2 just because a few of them get in the way.
I know this has been mentioned and I don’t know if there has been a statement yet on it or not, but I was wondering if ANET plans on making changes to support such that it actually rewards one for doing it. I love WvWing and doing boss fights as a support spec guardian but frankly if you want any kind of credit you have to do damage.
Nothing this patch.
I too find myself wanting more to do. In WoWs endgame I know that everything I’m doing is leading up to endgame raiding because that’s what I always did. In this game I have no idea what I’m doing. Although I’m finding my perspective is changing the more time I spend in game.
I haven’t run out of things to do per se. After getting to 80 I maxed out my disciplines (chef/ws) then I dropped chef, picked up Armorsmith and maxed that out. Now I’m working on making my exotic gear. At first this meant farming Orr until I realized that some of the mid level mats go for a descent price so I’ve moved to doing zone completion and selling what I gather on the TP. Then I use that money to buy mats for my exotics.
I think something a lot of people aren’t realizing is it’s not efficient to farm for a specific mat. Your best bet is to run around doing other things like zone completion, following event chains, and playing a little game I call follow the nodes. Selling the gathered materials then allows you to buy what you need on the TP.
They have to give themselves room to grow as far as cool looking armor is concerned. If armor looked crazy awesome to begin with then where do they have to go from there? I mean WoW has some really really sweet armor sets but every time the tiers reset for the next expansion, the first few tiers are relatively plain.
I’ll probably do it again but not until I see in patch notes that it’s been fixed.
Tonight I ran Arah in order to finish my person quest. But because of a bug wherein only the person who started the instance can see the cutscenes, no one else got credit for killing him. I’ve been pretty forgiving of all the bugs to date but this is pretty irritating.
So I saw on guildhead that an Armorsmith can make boxes of armor that, when opened give you a whole set of armor for a certain stat. Now I’m wonderingif they exist? I’ve been wondering how they could possibly exist in the form they are shown on GW2DB and guild head since both say that you need silk thread for the discovery and you can’t pull silk thread into the discovery window. I tried the mystic forge but you can’t use the inscription in the window so I have no idea how to execute this.
Thanks for your replies.
So far every time I have used the remove dye feature, when I exit the hero window, the game crashes.
I support some change to guardian ranged abilities even if it’s just speeding up the animation of the ball thing.
My wife and I just ran into this same issue. Still not fixed.
“The incredible Anglo-Saxon style of culture that the Norns hold makes thievery near impossible”
Cultural traits are not requirements. Just because a culture identifies a certain way doesn’t mean there aren’t a subset of people who aren’t like the rest of the culture. In fact if a culture identifies a certain way then you can be more sure that there IS a subset that disagrees or acts opposingly.
My wife and I tried doing “Munition Acquisition” in a party as we’ve been doing for a lot of the personal story. But you can’t talk to Tonn in a party, you have to drop group in order for him to activate his first cinematic conversation. We tried running through without talking to him, as it does give you the next quest objective without requiring you to. But when we finished everything we still weren’t able to finish the quest because we had to talk to him still.
It worked fine outside of party though.
