Things I'd like to see added to an already amazing game :)

Side Stories:
I know this aspect takes a lot of work but the overall impact it makes on the world is amazing. Instanced events like personal stories that take you through a chain of events in each zone.

Also more books or things that we can read to give us more information on each zone so it becomes even more full of life.

For instance we can find the lost journal of an explorer and retrace his steps to find some sort of treasure that must be taken to someone in charge of some society in Lion’s arch.

PvE content for guilds:
Right now explorable dungeons are the end game, and believe me when I say im already happy with those. Even though they are tough I still love them. But I think there exists potential in Dynamic Event systems that you have set up that would make suitable content for 10+ players in a guild.

I know tiered raiding is against everything you stand for and I am in agreement with that 100%. With that said why not make 10+ player raid-like content where the reward is only aesthetics like we get from the dungeon explorables.

I envision old eq raids like the plane of fear or the plane of hate when I thought of this; Where you take your whole guild into a dangerous location and move strategically and methodically. The bosses themselves could be set up like that Jormag event where there are phases and loot could be on par with other level 80 events. The number of people able to enter the zone could be limited to maintain the challenge.

Competitions:

I would love to see some kind of scheduled competition system put in place.

=)

Huge issue with gw2.

Ability to disable mini-map

ashesfaded.9476

It’s a really useful feature no doubt but sometimes I want it gone so I can actually focus on the world and its art and not just stare at the minimap the whole game.

Now while i suppose i could just force myself to not look at it, simply being able to disable it temporarily would remove the temptation to look at it.

Hit Box bug in AC Explorable

While running AC on explorable mode, during the event where the burrows spawn on the first story path, we encountered burrows that were unable to be hit. 3/5 members of our party kept getting “obstructed” or “miss” constantly.

We tried moving around into different positions but it didn’t seem to effect it at all. Attacks that rained down from the top however seemed to damage them. We had to stop at that point in the run because it harbored our progression. Also I’ve seen this same kind of bug happen in DEs where attack-able thing spawn up from under the ground.

If it was so great why is the playerbase leaving or not loggin in once they got 80? hmmm

Personally I don’t really care? Does it really matter if I like it? Besides xfire is completely unreliable.

World of Warcraft was awesome. Guild Wars 2 is awesome. I don’t why everyone has to be a hater all the time. It gets really old; the entire MMO community whining all day.

Everyone seems to be looking for some kind of fulfillment that I don’t think any game was ever meant to supply. When I am not raging about it, it just makes me sad.

I think there is fulfillment we just don’t hear about it as much. For me the EQ1 was the only game that did it, but now GW2 can be added to the list as well.

Not that I want to defend WoW or anything, but it’s clear that Blizzard didn’t intend to do what Anet is doing. It would have been an added value to their game for sure.
WoW gave us a world to…it was just less alive and without jumping puzzles. If that means it’s just a map, then a map it is.
But nobody told me I couldn’t do my own jumping puzzles, the world was big enough.
And the way they combined things was fantastic, it’s hard to deny that. I’m starting to believe they did it by accident :-)

I think the original developers of WoW did a decent job of this. But it all went downhill after a certain point. It felt more like you were playing “video game levels” and didn’t give you the same open ended feeling like GW2 or EQ1 does.

In EQ1 obviously there were no maps and you could easily get lost. Some people view this as a flaw in game design but a lot of people loved it too. Mainly because you had the option to take that risk or choose a safe route instead. If you stuck to the roads you were generally safe but if you went off the roads you took a big risk but not without reward.

For example in lesser faydark getting lost was soo easy to do, but going off that road meant you could randomly run into that patrolling brownie named thistle who carried the braided ivy chords which sold for 500 plat.

Also on the topic of exploration, I was bold and went out into that forest and got lost and actually ran into a zone I never new existed; Some vampire’s castle called castle mistmoore. It blew my mind.

Most modern video games lack this kind of exploration. Things that exist just to be cool but don’t necessarily serve a solid purpose. GW2 brings a lot of that true exploration back but the modern MMO community is so diverse now that a lot of people that “got it” back then, don’t “get it” now.

I was having so much fun I accidentally got 22 levels

Well enjoy it while it lasts, according to some people on the forums your only going to get a measly 250 hours of fun. I’m still having a blast but I haven’t hit this brick wall of no fun yet.

60$ for 250 hours of fun is good deal yes?

I also forgot to add frostgorge sound. I think its one of the best designed snow areas in the game. When you first encounter the bay its an incredible sight.

Thank you ArenaNet! You have given me a game that conjures up the same feeling I had when I first stepped into EQ1’s Norrath back in 1999. Tyria feels like a living breathing world full of secrets at every turn and I love that.

Some of my favorite locations so far

<spoiler>
IceDevil Needle mines, The three jumping puzzles in Lion’s Arch, Lornar’s Pass, Some crazy underwater cavern on the bottom of the ocean floor in bloodtide coast, Mount Maelstrom, and my absolutely favorite the hidden cave off of Foundation 86 which leads to a climbable ice pillar into a jumping puzzle.
</spoiler>

One thing that I really missed since the days of EQ was open world dungeons and these cave systems kind of bring that feeling back. There is a sense of danger and mystery when you stumble on these and I absolutely love it. THANK YOU!

Make Jumping Puzzles more enjoyable!

You can already disable the double tap dodge on jumping puzzles. So there is no need to disable it completely.

The camera issues could be fixed with first person perspective implemented and overall it could use some fine tuning.

I think the rewards are fine; With my magic find armor set I pull in about one yellow each jumping puzzle.

All in all I think jumping puzzles are one of the most enjoyable things in the game at the moment.

You want raids? I have a solution..

There will always be an extremely vocal group of players to complain about the lack of gear progression and raiding.

This will do nothing to quiet them, because to them it doesn’t count as content if there aren’t gear upgrades. That’s why all the people telling them about things to do now aren’t quieting them.

No matter how much there actually is to do, without gear upgrades that type of player just doesn’t understand the point in playing.

Sadly I fear you are correct in this matter

I’m NOT one of those people on the raid wagon because i don’t necessarily have the time for it anymore, but this thought came to me when I was looking at all my old EQ screenshots. See TLDR; at end if you have a severe case of ADHD…

Inspiration: EQ-> Plane of Hate, Plane of Fear, Plane of Sky, Sebelis, Kael Drakkel FFXI-> Dynamis

The groundwork to do this is already in place so implementing this system wouldn’t be all that difficult.

I propose Specific Zones or Dungeons set aside exclusively for groups of 10 players or more. They can be either Open World like EQ, or instanced off like a dungeon.

The encounters would scale based on the number of people, just like meta events and dynamic events, and the fight mechanics would be similar to the Jormag fight, with phases and all.

Rewards would NOT be better gear, but more vanity sets, this preserves Anet’s mission and makes it so that doing these “raids” are not for gear progression, just for guild activities and fun.

TLDR: Open World or instanced Dungeons/Zones meant for 10 players+ with a bunch of Dynamic Events/Meta events similar in mechanics to Jormag, and only vanity gear for loot.

Jumping Puzzles

These are quickly becoming one of my favorite things about guild wars 2 and they have so much potential to expand on.

Here is my suggestion. Include a few more mechanics in them. I’m thinking along the lines of Zelda style dungeons. You already include things such as placing rocks on pedestals to open gates but there are a lot of other things you can do as well.

For example burning cobwebs to open access to floors below you, obtaining keys from certain creatures in the jumping puzzle to open the proper gates, using explosives on certain walls to open access to the rest of the dungeon, hitting a switch to drain the lava from a room to obtain a key, etc.

I think there is already a trend for this however after one puzzle I did that made me use a land mine to blow myself across a pit so im really excited to see where in the future this leads to.

The point is challenge. Everyone, no matter what level, should have the same challenge getting the same materials. This means that higher level players don’t have a serious advantage over lower level players for materials. It’s intended and many people like it including me lol.

It is far too difficult to find a group for instances.

You cannot get the dungeon token visual armor from crafting. Besides they’re fun if you get a group of people that know what they’re doing. I’d wager to say they’re easier than wow dungeons were.

Environments - Awesome but missing a few

All in all the game is beautiful. I love how many cavern systems there are to explore, the jumping puzzles are incredible, the snowy peaks, the jungles river streams etc. Your team did an incredible job.

There are a few environments though that i noticed are missing and I hope to see in the future maybe?

I havn’t seen desert yet however I know crystal desert is most likely due out.

Deep dark pine/redwood forests, deep dark Oak forests.

More abandoned multilevel temple like structures such as those in sparkfly fen. “The Shattered Keep”

REQUEST: More customization with customizable music play lists.

I think it would be great to have further control over where certain themes play. For instance have a play list for each of the major regions such as shiverpeak mountains, kryta etc.

Additionally I love the original soundtrack as well so why not give us the option to leave the original music in as well.

Thanks a bunch

Suggestion: Some form of middle ground dungeon for training.

ashesfaded.9476

I personally love the dungeons, both the designs and the difficulty. However, I think a lot of people coming from diverse MMO backgrounds are having a hard time getting used to the new fighting mechanics.

That being said I would like to suggest that a few more dungeons be added with medium difficulty. They would act as “training” dungeons to ease people into the harder mechanics of the current dungeons.

As it stands we go from fighting things out in the world, where a glass canon build works perfectly fine, to suddenly going into serious mode when we step into the dungeon. There really isn’t anything to prepare you or train for that massive leap in difficulty. Doing this would at least stop newer players from going into shock.

Rather than overide in game audio can we add to it?

I really love the in game soundtrack but ever since I learned that we can create custom play lists for the game I’ve been intrigued and want to try it. I just don’t want to remove the original songs when I try it out. Is this possible?
