As I said before, It was my first D/C this season.
it is literally how the system works it starts at 3 and increases each time after that every time you D/C for 2mins+, go read up on the dishonor system, it doesn’t hand out arbitrary numbers. You know the risks they have been known for a year, it also seems like you D/C a lot so you should know you probably have a high chance of getting dishonor due to your connection.
The dishonor timer goes down if you don’t D/C within a certain time period.
That’s interesting, because here I found completely different info. According to this If I D/C a lot then I would have been unable to play for many hours.
There is no clear info why I got 40min for a single D/C + additional time spent in the match I rejoined to.

If you return to a match after a disconnect or switch classes, you will not gain dishonor.
We are always watching ‘the numbers’ and have the ability to change the variables of dishonor as we see fit. If we think lowering one number or raising another will reduce the amount of leavers and afk players, then we will certainly do it.
I returned to match and get dishonor.
They have ability to change numbers, so it isn’t clear how much time of dishonorable we risk.

if you team can win with you afk or disconnected for 2+ minutes, you don’t deserve any points because you were being carried anyway. I’m all for harsh punishments for afkers and DC’ers.
You are inferring he is bad because he was DCed? Maybe, if he was playing the entire time, they would have won faster. Perhaps the other team was just that bad. You can’t assume he was carried without knowing how well he plays. Don’t be a kitten.
It doesn’t matter. In 99% cases 4v5 is a loss. The system can’t see whether he is leaver, troll, afker or just dc’d. He took too long to load in, his team had to carry 4v5 match – he does not deserve any points tbh. And 40 min is rather mild punishment. If Anet was to remove it, then people would abuse it a lot (like they did in s1 for example).
You do not get the point. The issue is no existence of punishment but a lack of clear information what to expect. We do not know if we get punished and for how long till the match ends. I would like to know what I risk before I join ranked.
This is a flaw with the system, but without the technology to distinguish between a genuine disconnection and someone abusing a disconnection to escape a losing game or to troll, innocent players will be punished.
It would be simpler if system does not allow to rejoin for any situation.
That would stop class swap and save some time.
Sounds like you “D/C” a lot since dishonor is 3 minutes to start and cumulative for each additional dishonor amount
Nope, this is my fist d/c in current season.
Actually I had similar situation back in February, however got only 5-6min of dishonorable. Now 40min.
40 min is not that bad. Think about it this way: you caused 4v5, chances are you would have never come back. You could have wasted other players time and rating. 1 match lost if someone leaves, to make up for it you would need to play another match = ca. 40 including queue times.
I could, but I did not. I joined back. We won. Teammates got pips + rating up. I got penalty.
Just a moment ago I joined ranked match, disconnected, after ~1min came back and won the match.
What I got for coming back? Lowered rating and 40min dishonorable.
40min for a short absence.
People change classes(that takes a while too) while match is running and get no punishment.
Is there any time frame to join back before you get punished or what?

It’s the most used skill by my ele(I bet not only mine). It looked so powerful. Now you made it look like burning kitten. Bring the effect back to us, minimize for others. It’s so simple.

Or just implement global option “minimize skill effects”. Let the gamers choose. Is is really that hard?

As many European players reported, they experience huge lag during prime time since December 1st. I read posts and found that most if not all of our ISPs use TeliaSonera IP Backbone.
It looks like lag issues depends on region, or rather IP range.
Me and my local friends with same ISP have similar problems, unfortunately, some other services are affected too, like Google, SSH. Other friends, in different cities, with same ISP are fine.
All this happens aprox. 6-11 p.m. CET everyday.
I called my ISP support and they responded that they are aware of connection problems, especially with Google. However, no ETA on ‘fix’.
Does anyone has more info to share about this topic?
Other services than Guild Wars affected?

again it’s 8 p.m. GMT and all I can do (if somehow map loads after few mins) is chat
I was playing WvW at night – no lag
I was doing dungeons and some PvE content at morning, afternoon – no lag
evening – can’t play at all
I have the same but on Straits of Devastation… It WILL load but after 20-30 min. and then my character will get lagged + DC from game.
Something is seriously wrong…
I had exactly same situation
Guild wars 1 was a great game, but frankly its combat is getting dated and old.
It’s just different mechanics. Like it or hate it.
I have to say that since about 2 months WvW is unplayable for me. I got random disconnects or there are lags spikes. That not happens so much in Edge of the Mists.
Not happens in PvE at all. However, sometimes where a lot of ppl playing (like now, after release of new content and it’s weekend) I cannot even load a map.

Guild Wars 2 is the Diablo 3 of the Guild Wars franchise.

It’s not the same here. Guild Wars 2 was announced as different concept. It shares only the world and story related to it.
The one thing I miss the most from Guild Wars (1) is the best PvP ever
GW2 is meant to be very casual friendly…
Heroes and flags were introduced in Nightfall.
I was thinking of single Guild Wars: Prophecies just after release, which has limited skill set, no elite tomes, no consumables and henchmen were unusable.

It’s just a feedback.
I like this game, the open world, dynamics events, story line etc. It’s worth time&money spending.
Just want to say that for me it’s like ‘chillout’ – not much thinking required, no punishment for death, not much teamwork, just play and do what you want.
There were some moment like Tequatl where you had to split and defend batteries, or Triple Trouble.
The rest is to spam DPS, dodge major attacks and eventually revive ppl.
Story missions are like:
bla bla bla
kill some mindless stuff
bla bla bla
kill some more
bla bla bla
kill a boss, which only takes a moment more to kill than other crap
bla bla, what an epic victory, bla bla, we are stronk, bla bla, we can kill dragons
Even if you somehow die, there is no punishment for it.
I played Guild Wars (1) as many ppl here.
Do you remember what mission were there like?
One person made a step too far and entire mission failed.
Do you remember the Thunderhead Keep mission?
When entire guild sent congrats after completion?
That’s what I call a challenge. And there was much much more.
I don’t want to compare GW to GW2, that’s not the point.
I don’t want to complain, because as wrote earlier, I enjoy it.
I just want to point out that for some reasons devs decided to make this game smooth&easy, which was not that obvious for new players, like me.
So true, lags/random disconnects. Anyway, I don’t care anymore. I just play sometimes at late night when there is no mindless zergs running and no lags.
I wish they change Zerg Wars to some instances like Fort Aspenwood, Jade Quarry or Alliance Battles. I miss these modes so much
I think, the truth is that most of ppl don’t like running dungeons. That’s why they introduced PvP reward tracks – do dungeons once, in story mode, then get rewards while having fun doing PvP.
Dungeons rewards you with tokens which you can exchange for exotic weapons/armor, right? They are part of story line and nothing more.
Anyway, It looks like this game is not designed for grind. You only get full reward once per day.
There is a lot of other things to get a chance of good loot, like World Bosses, Jumping Puzzles(chests), WvW(rank chests, champion bags, Bags of Loot, rare chests with exotics) , sPvP(reward tracks).
It make me sad to see if I craft an Item I’ll be losing money instead of making more
Leveling crafting is long term investment. If you don’t care about ascended/legendaries and few other things, then yes, it could be money wasting.

A much more… not flowery or rainbow longbow would be so cool. A ‘darker’ longbow, sword… everything!

@ atlavis, are you using it when you are stunned or not?
If you are using it when stunned, I can tell, it’s not a stun break, but can be activated like a stun breaker. (bug?)
I know that it doesn’t break stuns.
I’m stucked after casting it. I can attack, use skills, but can’t move.
Somthing is really, really wrong with Phase Retreat after April update.
I got stucked so many times in WvW and sPvP. Sometimes I have to wait 3-5 sec before I can move, sometimes I can’t move at all.
This happens too often to me. Really annoying.

I would like to join. Trying to kill Tequatl since 4 days and haven’t done even once either.
The idea was great but realization was tragic.
Too much lagging.
Too many people.
Too long.
Why not make it an instance?

We are also working with a new composer named Stan LePard. He’s written another new Halloween ambient piece, which you’ll hear in one of the maps. However, since it’s his music, I didn’t feel comfortable posting it. I will say, though, that it’s awesome.
