Played since beta. True story. Just about week ago, I logged in one of my original toons that I played right after launch but just went back to. Was a memser. Never liked her but had slots so never deleted.
I have a freaking sycle (spelling?) skin sitting the one of her bags. Was mixed in with other junk like the candy corn and things. I remember logging her back with the first mad king thorn events in frustration and rolling my , now main, engineer.
so I got that now in my bank, chilling..
They didn’t drop from treat bags to my knowledge. So you probably got lucky with one chest. Either way, what luck lol.
Sadly, I feel that what is available on the TP is close to total. While I’m sure that some player’s may be holding on to one or even a few of these skins for future inclusion to the TP, I really don’t think there is a mass stock pile somewhere.
Banking that future returning players may lower the prices on this skin (or any 1st year Halloween skins) is not that simple. One must assume that these players, for whatever reason, didn’t apply them right away to their weapons. I’m sure the amount of unused pristine skins sitting in inactive accounts is likely very, very, few.
For the record, I purchased the Greatsaw, scythe, and Grinning Shield during the year one event for a total of 80g (if I remember correctly). I applied all three to my various characters weapons. I still occasionally use them (transmuting as required), but in retrospect, part of me is kicking myself for for not not having the foresight to hold on to them.
Hindsight … gets me every time.
But dont feel bad, because, like I said, counting inflation, it hasn’t grown much at ALL. 80 g then was equivalent to about 800 g now. Yeah, you still lost money, but that return rate is awful for an MMO.
Take for instance, if you had bought 80 g worth of superior sigils of generosity (I bought 25 g worth) and sold them after a year, you would have profited over 3000 gold.
I just wonder why people keep them… The current price is set by traders, the current greatsaws been on tp for two weeks now, but they didnt sold one yet.
U can wait, but u will never sell it for this price. You obviously never played GW1, items this rare are always wanted when people get more money and have nothing to spend it on.
The price will go up and up, the general population just doesn’t have enough cash to buy something like this so there really isn’t any point in even trying to sell right now. 1200-1700g to some people is nothing but as of right now to most, it’s far to much. It will catch up one day.
I did pay GW1, but GW2 is different. This game is all about the grinding, and PvE has everything so enjoy it. But it’s lol that u guys think its because its running out of stock, meanwhile a friend of my friend has 4 of them placed at 1.5k gold @ TP.
So keep on dreaming about ’it’s running out’, it might be indeed, but tons of inactive accounts with greatsaw’s so if these people return it will drop like kitten.
.. and this is an exaggeration. Even when they were still dropping from chests ONE YEAR AGO they were extremely expensive and rare. A year later, after many have been used, you think that its going to all the sudden drop in price? Get real.
You guys just have to keep in mind, inflation. I have both Greatsaw and Ghastly shield.. but at the time it cost me ALL of my gold (pretty much ~100 hours worth at that time) to buy only the greatsaw.
I couldnt afford the grinning shield, but because of the way Gw1 holiday items work (they never reappear) I decided to do my first ever pay to win transaction.. it cost be around 80 dollars at the time, which is insane, but I liked Guildwars two that much.
Today, if I were to do the gem conversion thing, it would cost me 300 us dollars to get the amount to buy the sword. Considering that its been an ENTIRE year and the skin is EXTREMELY rare, I haven’t really profitted much at all when you count inflation.
Thats fine with me. Either make it bind on pickup and never to return, or make it able to be traded but never to return. Either way, the prestige is from the rarity.
If the weapons come back again, I have no faith in the guildwars 2 economy. I really wanted the shield skin (I could only afford the greatsword) back in halloween last year, so I spent money on gems so I could buy it. I did this because I thought it was limited, which is what makes it cool.
If they just re-release old items, I will never do that again. By some of your arguments, legendaries should be just like any other rare
your first and second points say the same thing.
And no, it gives another item to “go” for. Right now, the item to get is legendaries. What if you get one? then what? And also what about those guys (like me) who will never get a legendary? We could have something ALMOST as cool: a unique time exclusive skin.
and your third point: it doesnt “punish” anyone. If they want the items, they should stick around for the events. Thats what makes the items cool.
Its cool when they are limited because, like the other guy says, it shows you played during a certain time period.
For instance, I might have a cool chainsword from halloween 12, but then I might miss out on getting a meat cleaver for halloween 13. It makes the items have value.
A lot of cool swords that are in game now aren’t special to a lot of players because they are a fairly common skin, and easily obtained.
I don’t care about getting one of these fused weapon skins at all, so I am biased on this issue.
But, imo, if it is an average of 100 chests per 1 ticket, they might as well just sell the tickets for the money equivalent of $100 USD.
As crazy as that is for an in game skin, it still keeps the skin rare (as arenanet intends) ,the people who REALLY want it can get it, and arenanet still gets the load of cash they are obviously going for.
It just currently seems like the people who typically get them dont even really care that much about them. I am just glad the halloween skins were tradeable.. because I just bought them with gold instead of RNG’in it.
Anet handled this pretty poorly.. I feel sorry for you guys that got banned for simply making money.
And everyone that is happy about the bans sounds like they are clearly jealous of not being able to make money in game
So aggravating. I can understand an hour, two hours.. maybe three.. but an entire friggen day? COME ON. I have never once complained about the bugs because those happen and cant be controlled. This is just inexcusable.
I now see that the consortium chest items are being dropped by karkas. Is this only true In the wake of the lost shore event or will it continue to stay like that ? I was under the impression that the lost shore minis aind skins were a one time only deal, so I bought a few extra for an investment .
Elder logs are worth 12c now last time I checked. And mithril ore is worth 21c a piece. It is barely worth taking the time to gather when you are passing by now, imo.
and Logun: the way I made my money in Guildwars 1 was power trading. Its much harder to do it in GW2 for me because of the TP and its cuts.
Just wondering what people are doing for money. I was making a petty 60s an hour mining in orr. Now I make about 1.5-2 gold per hour grinding certain mobs with magic find. I am wondering if there is yet another way to make more money.
What do you guys do?
All I can say is this: the forums cry out that the game is “dying,” yet I still see a ton of people everywhere I go. The noobie zones are just as populated as when the game launched, although they no longer have overflows either.
This game is far from dying.
The skill point to the southwest, near the grenth’s statue, needs reworking. One of these issues would make it challenging, two would make it hard, and three very tough, but all of them together make it literally impossible to do without at LEAST two people (or using some sort of bugging)
1) The drakes surrounding the skillpoint are too close together.. Which shouldn’t be an issue, except for 2 and 3.
2) The drakes knock you back on a relatively small island, meaning they will constantly knock you off the ledge into the water. This means that the drake will now become invulnerable and you cant hit him and have to start the fight over again (a bug).. Which wouldnt be a big deal except for 3.
3) The drakes respawn WAYYY too fast. Even if I am not knocked off and they are reset, I can only kill 3 drakes before another comes spawning behind me.
4) There is a veteran surrounding the skillpoint. Again, not an issue if not for the other things.
5) the statue does massive damage to you and cannot be stopped, making killing even one drake then retreating difficult.
6) You are being shot at by some unknown enemy from a distance extremely far away. Very aggravating because it does a ton of damage on top of the massive damage the statue already does to you, and makes it so that you HAVE to retreat from the whole area to heal.
7) The area is right smack dab in the middle of 3 champions spawn, so if you retreat into the water you will get killed by a champion.
I attempted this for an hour before I just gave up and waited till help could come. Me and my partner still barely did it.. He (a mesmer) had to kite the mobs in a circle while fleeing so I could grab the skillpoint, and I had to do the same for him. I don’t like to “cheese” the game but in this case I had to.
9/10. Reiterating that it was the best MMO holiday I have ever seen, but there was a few minor issues regarding loot.
I feel as if the black lion chest loot should have been 10x easier to get. If you spend 50 bucks on keys, you should at least be guaranteed ONE rare skin.
Also, the pvp modes were really fun, but they didn’t offer any good rewards, so I didnt do them as much.
But everything was really well done and fun, and I really liked the phases. It felt like there was something to look forward to, and it there wasn’t too much thrown at you at once.
agreed. It was way better than I thought it would be. I pretty much spent this entire weekend doing ONLY halloween specific content.
Deadnight, are you asking for a list of all the halloween items or only the ones that can be gained from quests?
There are only 2 from quests, the mad king slippers from the clock tower jump puzzle and the mad king memoirs (1 and 2). As far as I know at least.
BUT there will PROBABLY be a new item coming tomorrow at 3 pm. so look out for that.
thanks guys! one more question.. I guess it will make it character bound then right ? (as opposed to accountbound)
If I get one of the black lion chest halloween skins, and I transmute it to an item, is the skin stuck to that item forever? Or can I re-transmute the skin again to a new item?
For instance. my rifle now is level 64. If I transmute the skin onto the rifle, can I then later transmute the level 64 rifle to a level 80 one so the stats are level 80 but it looks like the pumpkin gourd rifle?
Thanks for any help.
The biggest question I have regarding the event is this: Will the halloween event this year be the same as the one next year?
Reason being: I will want to grab every halloween skin I possibly can if they won’t be available next year.
Well I hope they reopen up the chests at some point. I didn’t get a shot at making one because I wasn’t able to play for the past two weeks- and as limited as there are out there now, the price of the conduits will skyrocket.
