Still not fixed, not really surprised sadly.
Any type of PvP is literally unplayable for Mesmer (or anyone with a Mesmer on their team) until this is fixed. Hope the hotfix rolls out soon.
Only thing I noticed is significantly more lag since the patch. Who gives a kitten about siege skins…
Ya, counter comping is pretty lame. Would be more interesting if meta builds for different classes were presented followed by a round of picks and bans.
Crashes, getting stuck, camera jumping everywhere, terrible commentary. #esports amirite?
The same thing was shoved in pvp-ers faces when living story season 1 was being released. If they could endure, so can you.
I agree, ALL the HUD messages are annoying and should be able to be dismissed.
If you’re going to insist on shoving this kind of stuff in our face, at least permit us to dismiss it somehow. This type of advertising usually causes more resentment rather than the desired effect.
7-9k viewers for a qualifier? If you can prove those numbers I would be willing to cede that GW2 qualifiers are in fact more popular than ancient bargain bin games.
Who kittening cares? Meta is an unbalanced snoozefest and conquest only just makes it worse. There’s a reason games like Paper Mario and SimCity typically have more viewers than these events.
As title states, after the patch, chat panel is now neon pink. Very annoying, difficult to read to say the least.
If you split up the 100 or so people that still play this game mode competitively into separate forums it will only further highlight just how dead the scene has become.
No, these get practically no viewers. Games like Paper Mario and SimCity typically have higher numbers, not to mention every other competing game in the genre, lol.
Almost as many viewers as SimCity and Paper Mario, lmao…
The Helseth video is just sad. While he plays magnificently it just highlights how lame the format is when not fighting the enemy, utilizing broken teleport mechanics, and abusing terrain is oftentimes more advantageous than straightforward combat. This is not to detract from the skill he displayed, but rather a commentary on why sPvP might not be as popular as ANet would like.
Devon plays on SBI and he’s terrible. Also raises a lot of questions about the matchups SBI keeps getting, since everything indicates they will conveniently land at the top of Silver League. /tinfoilhat off
No, not in its current iteration. Scrap the league kitten while you’re at it, too. Worst idea to date for WvW.
That’s because in a three-way bout between Ali, a semi-pro boxer, and a 90lb asthmatic weakling you just decapitate the kitten with one swing before turning your attention to each other.
Seems like a straightforward addition to WvW. So no, zero chance of it happening.
Sounds more fun than the current cesspool we have.
Arcane Thievery, Null Field, Torch trait, just to name a few.
800-1600 Gem range, convert all cultural armor, no restrictions, no crap.
Story doesn’t matter.
Let people pay for a service that’s been tried and tested in other games and proven to be (mildly) popular. There’s absolutely no reason not to offer this service considering its just swapping data values and would make ANet piles of cash in the long run.
Been testing an interrupt build all afternoon, I’d like to believe it is possible but it feels too clunky. The mantra obviously requires charging, which sucks in and of itself, and the signet requires you to be facing your opponent and has a lame passive. The cooldowns on both these utilities aren’t the best. Assuming you want to maximize your choice of stuns, you have to work in a pistol, which isn’t the best of offhands. You also likely want to invest 30 into Domination and at least 20 into Chaos, but then are left with 10-20 points to put… pretty much nowhere useful. The whole thing lacks finesse and flow and while you can chain-stun people with a lot of luck, you’ll find yourself out of tricks and scrambling to survive. If you had significant burst to accompany the lockdown it might work, but the trees you have to invest in don’t really lend themselves to that.
As Pyroatheist stated, actually interrupting an ability is more like blind luck than a skill-shot and is utterly unreliable. And you’re bending over backwards to interrupt people for what? Maybe 5 might and some random conditions? It doesn’t seem worth it.
Wrecking [Krew] is looking to bolster the ranks of our WvW-centric guild. Having scoured other servers for tactics and strategies, we’ve returned home to Borlis Pass where it all began. Our goal is to rebuild [Krew] into the powerhouse we once were and aid the war effort in any way possible. In order to do so, we’re looking to recruit like-minded individuals dedicated to excellence on the field, as well as within the community.
[Krew] has a structured schedule to accommodate the needs of our members, with four dedicated WvW raid nights, and three days for PvE, including, but not limited to, dungeons, fractals, and temple runs. We want our members to have the best gear available to ensure we have the edge on the battlefield, and we work together to see that anyone interested in getting geared has an opportunity to do so. In addition to scheduled WvW/PvE, we also aim to offer various competitions and contests we have hosted in the past, such as WvW Challenges like Most Kills, Most Spikes Collected, Most Yaks Slain, just to name a few. We also host raffles and other giveaways that have included Rare Dyes, various exotics, mini-pets and more. In the future, we hope to be able to offer precursors, gold for cultural armors, commander tags (to individuals that prove themselves worthy) and other highly-desirable perks. A lot of these rewards systems are dependent on us having a healthy number of players within the guild, so the more members we have, the better the loot we can offer.

Go to bed, close match. Wake up, 17/22k disparity. What a great matchup…
Regardless of which side of the debate you fall on, nightcapping makes for boring matches. The servers that are behind get up and look at the scores, see there’s no point participating and do something else for the week, and the winning server gets a head of steam from their massive lead and the fairweathers crawl from under their rocks, further exacerbating the problem.
Couple this with the “genius” new matchmaking system and STILL lackluster rewards and you end up with ridiculous scenarios that do absolutely noting to breathe new life into a stagnating aspect of the game.
Count me in, too. Did both story/exp prior to patching, got nothing.
Same issue. Ran both before the patch, got nothing. Ran it after, still nothing.
Trash talking comes with EVERY PvP game and anyone that doesn’t like it should either: A.) go play something else, B.) grow a pair, or C.) block and move on. And if ANet is really serious about turning this game into an eSport (lol) they will have to change “teh rules” because the type of player they’re attempting to attract probably kitten-talks their own mom.
Bottom line is maturity goes both ways. People are quick to tell others to “act like an adult” and not taunt others, but forget that they themselves could just not get kitten over words in a godkitten video game.
7 months in and the only significant change WvW received was having Orbs REMOVED, allegedly to be rebalanced and reinserted once they’re fixed. Still waiting on that. I really don’t think the issue is people wanting immediate gratification, or expecting too much. Its about hyping up the “WvW patch” for weeks and months to receive…what? Rehashed, crappy skins? Guild Mission vendors got new weapon skins, and this craps only been around for a few weeks. They’ve got time to make exclusive skins for Black Lion Chests (a.k.a. printing themselves some money). I’d assume weapon skins are way easier to make than armor, but come on, you can’t give WvWers some nice armor, even if its recycled?
You can try to defend their position and claim they’re laying framework for future stuff, but that’s true of any addition to the game. But who the hell knows when they’ll get around to addressing it? I mean it only took 7 months to add a few (preexisting) skins!
When its all said and done, I ain’t even mad. It’s kinda laughable really. Just look at the patch notes. The WvW section is pathetically small for something hailed as the “WvW Patch”. All the other facets of the game got as much, if not more attention. Granted different teams handle the various areas, but is this what we can expect in the future? Months between meaningful changes, only to shake our heads and laugh silently at what we’re handed? Don’t get me wrong, I really enjoy WvW for what it is, but for a game that gives you multiple paths to accomplish your goals of gearing up (FoTM, Guild Missions, Dungeons, BLTP), WvW is the absolute worst choice.
These skins are god awful! I mean, they’re low level kitten that you could buy for a few measly copper off the TP. PvP has a robust locker system in the Mists, why not do something similar for WvW? I can only hope that they plan to add TONS of new skins in the very near future, even if they’re just rehashed crap from other aspects of the game. I know a lot of us were hoping for epic new skins exclusive to WvW but it seems that we’re doomed to being on the back burner.
I can’t get in contact with the officer in question, as his account is still compromised. He’s already been removed from the guild anyway.
One of the officers in our guild had his account compromised, and the gold in our guild bank was stolen. To my knowledge the account in question is still compromised and we removed it from our guild the moment we recognized the theft. Given that only officers have access to the tab containing the gold, this was a most unfortunate and truly unforeseeable occurrence. Any help in this matter would be greatly appreciated, and more information can be provided on request. Thanks in advance.
I can see there’s no point explaining this further since you’re incapable of rationality and possess an over-inflated sense of entitlement. We’ll have to agree to disagree.
Yes, those people should get screwed for the greater good.
In fact I would be surprised if this didn’t get changed, because if you love guesting on a server so much, but can’t get the rewards, you’ll have the incentive to pony up and transfer, likely giving ANet some money.
What you’re suggesting is people that enjoy the community to which they truly belong, within which they likely play with their friends, should be displaced to a random, low population server just so they can play the game lag free? Nope, sorry.
Me moving somewhere to avoid atrocious lag just so you can come play with your pals is a stupid idea.
And when enough people guest onto that server it lags, too.
The logical fix is remove the incentive for people to guest.
Agreed. Remove guested chests, problem solved.
How about no? Why would I be a hypocrite and do the very thing that annoys me?
Agreed. Lag is unbearable. Remove chest rewards from guested events.
Don’t think so. In the current state of WvW, zerg reigns supreme. tPvP has already devolved into meta-builds and cookie cutter compositions anyway, if anything, large PvE Dynamic Events would be more relevant, i.e. Temple events in Orr.
Overused turn-of-phrase is overused. I don’t believe WvW is on its deathbed, I do however wonder how long people can be expected to keep playing it when ANet keeps churning out incentives to PvE all the time.
With each patch that introduces more and varied PvE content, WvW participation takes a dive.
Fractals decimated much of the WvW community on many servers and the redesign of Orr and introduction of new story stuff has already taken a toll on the already weakened state of things WvW.
In addition, dropping the patches mid-week causes numbers to plummet at a time when many matchups are still undecided. This, combined with the news of ratings resets, has driven many to simply not care about the match this week at all.
I’m glad PvE players get new content, I know WvW is supposed to get some love next month, my only concern is will there be anybody left playing by the time it arrives, and will the update be sufficient to draw back those that have already abandoned it?
Trait to change Burn procs to Cripple, since Burn is so horrible for Guardian anyway.
When someone uses profanity ANet’s filters change it to kitten.
[Krew] sets up shop in Danelon Passage and holds it with 6 guys. EB sends 25+ to finally take it back. More news at 11. (Warning: this post is a friendly jab and is not intended to cause kitten.)
Plinx nerf. Unwarranted. Hope there is something comparable in the new zone. If not, I wish I had known that the only bearable karma farming method was going to get nerfed so that I could have capitalized on it sooner instead of doing things I enjoy.
Also, adding mandatory participation in the new dungeon to the monthly achievement is lame. GW2 prides itself on multiple paths to the same end goal— before this. Running the dungeons you want for the gear you want and all of them contributing to the monthly was nice. Being pigeonholed into doing the new content to complete the monthly is a step in the wrong direction.
While I don’t believe there’s a conspiracy to silence dissent, I can’t see how jumbling a ton of unrelated topics together really makes things easier to handle.
Cleansing is almost laughable; burning a long cooldown on one of your 3 slot skills to remove something that is being stacked by auto-attacks.
Evincarr.6235Switching to a Great Sword isn’t going to help except for movement.
That was the point…
Either that or keep the hammer and replace axe/mace with sword/shield. You’re never going to kill a good condi spammer 1v1 without sustainable gap closers.
While gap closing is nice, it’s oftentimes easily thwarted. Heck, even the terrain screws over melee more often than not. Ranged rains down, melee can’t charge/flash/port up. You can’t outlast them, you have to surrender your ground and hope they’re stupid enough to jump down and fight you on an even footing. Even when you’re on a level playing field, any good condi spammer has an Ace-in-the-hole stun/fear/blind/stealth/knockback/the list goes on and on and on…
Mitigation through huge health pools means sacrificing pretty much everything else. Equipping a ranged weapon and trying a return volley is suicide. In the end the most logical solution is to reroll Flavor of the Month, which I think explains the spike in Condition Thieves and Necros.
