I have the same problem now but yesterday I had no issues, I downloaded the game to 100% and played for 2 hours before calling it a night. However today when I got home and open gw2 I somehow had 1 file to download, which I left downloading while I did other things but after downloading over 100mbs it still shows at 0%. Would enjoy a bit of help (tried all fixes listed above but none work) or at least like to know if its been look into, since I cant hit play after logging in.

What did you use to find this? iplocation.net/ is the only one which gave me this kind of result. every other site says they are all in EU.
Washington DC and on Verizon FiOS. Also seeing crazy ping spikes. Probably ISP side
Sadly I don’t think it is a ISP issue, as others on different ISP have confirm this issue. At the moment a lot of people (mostly east coast NA) are getting routed thru telia.net(located Sweden EU) , which means your going thru EU servers before you reach Anet. This started to happen when some log in servers went down on Anet’s side, so odds are high the it is Anets fault.
The only one that showed higher ping for me than the rest was a TWC ip, which is my ISP. I saw up to 2.8k ping today on gw2, which is a record for me lol.

Using www.ip-adress.com I checked the general area of each of the telia.net servers and as far as I can tell they are all in Europe. while my MS is low jumping around between Europe and west coast US doesn’t help. I also ran a tracert using http://www.monitis.com/traceroute/ where you can visually see the jumps between Europe and North America.
EDIT: Well I even have a week old tracer routes and path ping save for Anet servers and none ever went thru telia.net. They would go from alter.net directly to Anet servers and not jump to Europe before going to Anet servers in Dallas.

I don’t know if this servers been down have cause this issue but as the last 6 hours I have been routed toward EU Telia.net and EU servers of anet, yet I am in jade quarry a NA server. I hope this gets fix soon as it has made my ping go from a average of 50 ping to a 351 ping average.
Well so you know its not just power downscaling which was tweaked but every stat, my main is a guard who had around 5000ish hp in ac but I cant remember the exact number but it was on the low end of 5k.
However after the patch I barely have 3226hp in AC, making a mistake can down you much easier now and I bet eles and thiefs will have a much harder time.
Honestly its not just power but every single stat, for me it was my hp which made me notice.
I main guard and in AC my hp use to be 5000ish, but since the patch my ac hp is 3226. I have been running dungeons and open world but what I am seeing more and more is people going down from 2 hits due to the new low hp.
ele and thief will probably have it worse since their hp pool is the lowest.

Well as many others here I have Verizon and for 6 days I had lag non stop, regardless of game mode or settings. Today 2/21/2014 during 1am to 5am (could not sleep) EST, Verizon had been working on their lines, which left many in DC with no internet or very slow internet. However, after 5am everything in gw2 has been running smoother and the lag which remains is very minimal. While whatever Verizon fix was one of the issues, it would seem nsofts servers are causing what minimal lag I have left, or at least that’s where I get packet lost during path ping. There for it would be great if we could get someone’s help but from the EU topic, it seems we wont get any word until some time during or after Monday.

I been playing with friends today and been getting massive lag today, more so than the last 3 days. Some of my friends have also reported this yet they live on the west coast and don’t even have Verizon. However it seems Verizon has been having all sorts of outages in the east coast. (rather not post links but you can check outages at down detector).
This might play into a lot of the issues many are having but there seems to be more to it, as there are those not on Verizon having skill lag.

I doubt it is just Verizon’s fault as other people are having this issue with different ISP, while others with Verizon have no issues at all. At the moment we can only wait, you could try getting a VPN but some have reported the not even this helps.
well not much to add here but I am having this lag as well. In the past I have ran both a tracert and ping test to arena net servers 64.25.39.1, which I saved and showed no difference with the recent test of when I stated lagging. I haven’t had lag issues since I started playing this game back in 2012, no changes have been made to my internet and my lag happens all day long be it morning, prime time or midnight. Just like time, game mode does not matter pvp, pve and wvw all lag.
Some of my friends have suffer from this in the past 5 days however most have already stop having this lag or latency issue. Yet for me it just keeps getting worse and worse to the point the I only log in to get my log in rewards. It often feels as if the game is actively trying to disconnect you, as it will either lag skills or just everything in general and than disconnect you with a error or just lag for up to a minute sometimes. Yet everything else works such as chat and trading post.
EDIT: So far I only have issues with guild wars 2, I play other games on steam as well as final fantasy 14 and none have given me lag of any kind.

Try using the fix Kilam.4913 wrote on this post https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/tech/Stuck-at-0-KB-s/page/2
I used it and it went from downloading 50-10kbs to 10 to 5 mbs finishing full download of game in a few minutes.
Unlikely to ever happen but if it ever does.
I want my dungeon karma back and dungeons and their tokens should be character bound again, one way or another you could always make lots of gold from dungeons before and now.
@ kilam.4913, it help a lot thanks for sharing.
I prefer this over having to download things from places I never hear of.

Same thing has happen to me, everytime i try to do Forging the Pact the game will start freezing or cutting off until im drop out of the server. It has only happen during forging the pact and nowhere else so i dont think its my internet or my computer.
