Ventari on Upcoming Necro Changes

Engineers already do more than Necromancer in condition damage. What’s the point of Necromancer once they nerf dhuumfire and reduce fear effectiveness?

The unlocks are a BAD idea

lol way over react here…
Anet has been doing very good so far. They added ascend gears and wvw ranks and i never have issue with it so far. It’s just a little buffs. if you are really good you would have no problem.

on the topic. I would say it depends on how to unlock it … if it’s just skill points im fine with it … i have plenty unused.

That’s an extremely narrow minded response. The main thing that people expect in PvP is BALANCE. Balanced classes equate to a fair game. If one has to grind to be at the same potential as another player, that is the definition of unfair (one person has something that another does not have).

Honestly Helseth might be a great mesmer player but he doesn’t seem to have any idea about eles. Burning speed change doing nothing? LOL.

He doesn’t say it is worthless. He said it is a worthless change in respect to the power creep. Stop taking things out of context, you are literally a problem.

Rewards of Old?

in Fractured

Posted by: bubberducky.3420

bubberducky.3420

Those rewards are not available in the Fractals at this time, sorry.

Its not really new info, since Colin said something months ago about the rewards not coming back due to them wanting to keep the itemsm [i]prestige[/]. Which is ludicrous, IMO. Who cares if something is rare or prestige. The only prestige you had with those items was being extremely lucky. There are many of us who constantly ran the dungeon(s) trying to get the item (which was locked behind rng in temporary content) but were not lucky in the rng drops. And many of us do not have the gold needed (both now or at the time of the temp content) to buy the thing off the TP (which is only controlled by the top 1-5%, or market extortionists). They should be brought back as rewards for either the corresponding dungeon fractal (might not be possible due to all fractal chests using same list, which may or may not be the case) or with the end boss (maw event fractal thing, which would/should have its own list of possible item drops, thus the better option).

It makes me wonder what will happen to other temporary recipes; like the one for dragon’s revelry starcake when dragon bash will return next year. Will they shoot this down for people who could not obtain it last year?

That seems like they way they are heading. Not bringing back dungeon rewards, increasing the cost of recipes drastically (ie Halloween item recipes), 1 use only LS reward skins, etc, etc. They have the tools already to enable any of the stuff to be brought back (champ bag for end of fractal, leave recipe cost alone, put LS achievement rewards in the AP panel thing), they just choose not to do it, all in the name of making stuff prestige and making it alt unfriendly.

Yeah, I was shaking my head when Colin said it “wouldn’t be fair to those who earned” those items when they were actively dropping from the dungeons, as if jumping into that dungeon a couple of times and getting lucky enough to get the jetpack only never to bother with the dungeon again is some type of achievement to be proud of. All the while others did the same dungeon multiple times a day, every day it was active, and still getting next to nothing to show for it.

His reasoning for prestige would actually hold some merit if players actually had to do challenging stuff to obtain them from some permanent content, rather than getting lucky with RNG in a 2 week span. It’s just ridiculousness through and through.

This is a good analysis of Colin’s justification for not releasing items that were found via luck. +1

This justification revolves around the concept of “earning luck”, something that us mere players can never comprehend: our lowly state of mind can never be on the same mental plane. /sarcasm

Double Sigils on Two Handed Weapons

Because it’s still one weapon.

and because technically warriors and guardians with 2handed weapons actually have 20 sigils equipped even without a weapon and don’t need another.

What about engineers. Think before you type.

[PvE] Dungeon Speedrun Zerk Build

Is this build still viable? I have been trying it in random fractals (disorganised groups). I my max with bombs currently is 5.5k. Nowhere close to OPs damage. This was in Grawls Fractal with Superior Sigil of Night and Superior Rune of the Scholar. I use a ascalon weapon skin to tell if it is night or not on my Superior Sigil of Night rifle.

But I am not full ascended yet, I have an ascended rifle though, OP did not. How much does weapon damage affect kits, if at all?

Weapon damage does not affect kit damage.

Analogical perspective to the sPvP outrage

in PvP

Posted by: bubberducky.3420

bubberducky.3420

Much of the sPvP outrage has seem to shimmer here and there in requests for balancing, communication, and other sorts. I am here to organize that voice as well as provide analogical reasons to why many people such as myself feel that the response to the sPvP stage was unreasonable (to what we know). I will also quote Jonathan’s post and respond to those.

To start I would like to respond to this little bit from Jonathan:

Sometimes it may seem like we aren’t listening, or we don’t respond to your posts. But a TON of things could be at work. Don’t assume that just because we don’t change things exactly when you want them changed that we’re ignoring you or don’t care about your opinions and thoughts.

Except it’s been a year. What else are we suppose to “assume”. Assuming is inductive, and many things are inductive, such as driving a car and ASSUMING that other cars will not run red lights. Science is inductive by nature. We see a pattern and are mad at this occurrence of the pattern.

I’d also like to digress that I thoroughly enjoy other aspects of the game, (SAB, Living World, and the lore). I know you guys are passionate and dedicated to the game you’ve guys have made. It is impressive when compared to other MMOs. I’ve have always been a PvP junkie.

To put things into perspective, imagine a scenario in which would cause a problem, in which would gather more resources than it usually does. For my example, I will use the trading post.

  • The trading post is similar to sPvP in terms of allocation of resources: few if none (this is going off the post Jon Peters gave but was deleted by the moderators going along the lines of ‘Anet doesn’t give enough design resources to PvP to do anything meaningful.’) TL;DR: The trading post does not require the resources of the company.
  • The population at which uses the trading post remains a small concurrent use, and to pull a number out of the hat, let’s just say 1% is always on the trading post at a given time. This is similarly true to PvP, though I do not know the percent, it is clear that the majority of the game does not PvP. TL;DR: The population that uses the trading post is small.

With these two similarities, I am quite clear on on the differences; however these differences are not relevant to the example that follows:

If the trading post was to be brought down, e.g. almost unbearable to use because of certain bugs and features, the response would be a patch. In proportion, when new Living World content is released, sometimes bugs are not caught in time, prompting a patch usually in a timely manner. This is due to relevant population versus resources spent.

[You can also replace the trading post with something more “severe” like the log-in servers. If the login servers were compromised, an immediate response would occur due to the fact that it has the capability of effecting 100% of the population.]

Given this, I respect the fact that the players who regularly play PvP will receive less resources because of the smaller population. I know that the devs. cannot instantly fix things. That being said:

  • You’ve made promises that PvP in GW2 would be a e-sport. It would be acceptable if you’ve never promoted PvP. At least own up to the current situation, and clearly state that you do not have the resources to do everything. It’s been a year, did I mention that?
  • Communication, Quoted from Zanthrax.6538

Regarding communication to higher devs, as PAX showed it appears that the higher up devs such as Colin aren’t aware of the state PvP is in.

  • Balancing needs to be approached from something inductive: it is impossible to foresee the future when a balance patch is being released. At least listen to the top players, and take into consideration to what they are saying. Helseth is a good example (I only mention him because he has a video archive) as he is a pro player and understands the game more than me and probably others.

If I was in a nuclear reactor with a nuclear scientist and a meltdown occurred, I
would have no idea what to do. If that nuclear scientist said to push that button or
we'll all die, I am going to push that button. The nuclear scientist is obviously
the appropriate authority to listen to.

In conclusion, I just want an honest response from the devs. stating that they do not have the resources to do what they want. Or, they do not like our idea and they feel what they are pursuing is the correct path. Whatever you guys believe, just say it without the vague, lovey-dovey response, so I don’t have to cling on to some false hope.

Thanks for reading.

Who here is happy with Anet and spvp

No, I am not happy with Anet and sPvP.

Last minute postings (right after PAX) communicating with the PvP thread is a poor excuse. Are they going to try to say they were literally so busy, they could not talk to use in a 3 week span? Yes, preparations for PAX must have been hard and time consuming (they wanted to put on a good show) but there were so many bad decisions made simultaneously at the same time, it is ridiculous.

The devs themselves during the artist question about art for Charr armor was responded with an objective answer. Statistically, the Charr players were a minority, thus fewer resources went into their art. Just say the same thing about PvP and acknowledge that this is a similar answer.
