This is how my night went on SoRBL (as a Coaster):

Around eleven PM server time (PST), BG shows up at RedBriar with somewhere around 15-20. With the obscene amount of siege we had at briar, we fend off a number of attacks from several angles, but their hearts were not really in it since BG was preoccupied in taking Hills. So, BG forces finally withdraw from Briar.

We had around 7-10 defending, so we were pretty stoked on our little victory. Some time passes, and we start getting restless. Kiyo suggests putting up a treb in vale to hit the inner walls of bay, so 3 or 4 of us go to do that. Shortly after we get our treb up, swords go up at vale. “Uh… Why is vale contested?” Kiyo asks. We go down the hill and see around ten BG ganking the camp NPCs. We scuffle, and soon I’m walking back from spawn to the tower… Which is under assault by AT LEAST 40 BG.

Well played, BG.

So for the next 5 minutes, I get repeatedly stomped as I try to make it to the door so I can man the siege. The three or four defenders left in the tower did all they could, but it was only a matter of time.

This one warrior kept bowing and beckoning to me every time he would see me walking back from spawn, so I thought he might be looking to duel. So I’d clash with him a good distance from his buddies when able. I think his intentions were not entirely honorable, because d/d eles and thieves would gank me every time I’d think its 1v1. So I hope they aren’t too sour about me /laughing at them when I pulled them into the legendary guards.

By this time, it was lookin like a spawn camping session, so I headed over to TCBL for a while before logging for the night.

Beware those BG fellas… it may look like they are retreating, but they are just rousing reinforcements!

Finally… been waiting a week to get back on TC! It’s good to be home!

Looking forward to some good fights with SoR and BG for the remainder of the week!

As the title says, I’m at level 80 and have most of my exotics, but I was wondering what might happen if I put some of the Invader’s gear bought with karma into the Mystic Forge? I can’t seem to find anything relating to this on google, or I am just looking in the wrong places.

It was fun playing with DARK on mag’s BL in the early morning hours. We were goofing around Vale and South Bay, trying to keep the 10-15 of us from getting steamrolled by angry Mags when we would stir them up enough. At one point, we tried a super-secret-stealth-awesome attack on the north-east tower that might have worked if EBay hadnt provoked the defenders by attacking the north camp. We were spotted by a few of the defenders that started roaming around after beating eBay out o their camp… By then there was only two groups of five of us left… The other shoe dropping kind of hurt.

For the majority of the night/morning, I was the char guardian with the t2 cultural helmet transmute. During the sneak attack, I was a human thief (not a good one either) in pirate attire.

Cant wait to log back in.

While there were instances of trench warfare, WW2 was not known for its trench warfare because of advances in artillery, aircraft, and tank warfare. Trenches and foxholes were still good to fortify positions for infantry defenders, but nowhere near as widespread as ww1.

Trench warfare is iconic with WW1.

The Christmas cease fire he was referring to was also in 1914, during WW1.

There was also Ardennes Forest, in which bad weather limited mechanized transport, leading to the Battle of the Bulge that also continued through Christmas. There was an unofficial cease-fire that night, if I remember correctly.

Were I able, I’d propose a 30-minute Cease-fire this evening, such that various members of each server can share some food, or in respect for Christmas. Much like has happened in history in the past. World War 2, for example, when the men in the trenches stopped the fighting for Christmas.

Trench warfare was WW1, and many of the officers that lead the cease-fire on all sides were executed.

Not exactly the best example for yule-tide togetherness.

Our guild was so impressed with YB, that when we were forced to migrate servers from TC due to an influx of friends and family getting the game over the holidays (and TC is full), we chose YB as our new home. We are small, so we likely won’t be changing how WvW is, but we hope you will enjoy having us anyway!

Just when it was getting good, I must server transfer due to TC’s full pop (friends and family getting the game for the holidays won’t be able to get on my server)…

Farewell all of you on TC, I had some great times. /salute to our enemies as well, SoR and BG for giving us a really great fight.

So let me get this straight.

You see one example of something and use that to make an accusation against all players from a server, complain about them “talking kitten” and then……… talk kitten about them.

“As far as I’ve seen so far, SoR is a bunch of trolling kids who talk big and then… run to put their noses in the corner.”

If I was on TC, I would be ashamed of having someone like you on the server, making the rest look bad with your hypocritical and immature remarks.

Luckily, you aren’t on TC. Furthermore, I am not talking kitten, because I have proof of the behavior in the screenshot. If you think this is the first time I’ve seen exploitative or asinine behavior from people from SoR, you are just plain ignorant.

We are new to this tier, it’s true. First impressions mean a lot. And SoR sure gave us an impression we will remember… a bad one. Exploiting invulnerable spots is just bad sport.

Seen it just a few minutes ago behind the vale too. Didn’t get a screenshot this time, but if it would satisfy your poor bruised ego, I could screenshot it every time I see it? That might take a while to upload all those pictures.

FA, you guys are a blast. Thanks for bringing the fight to TCBL… I was there for crafting but suddenly found myself sucked in to some pretty intense fighting. If you saw a Necro with the tag BIF desperately beating at your front lines at the South Bay wall with massive amounts of AOEs, that was me!

People need to relax and enjoy the ride. There shouldn’t be a short-cut to legendaries, they should take a lot of time and effort. The attempt of acquiring one should be more memorable than the actual acquisition. Just my 2 cents.

At any rate, I hope that now that my pre-holiday prep work is done, I can get into WvW more in the following weeks. Hope to see you out there!

You’d have a “Goonswarm” situation where the large servers would choke the life out of the smaller servers. If you think this is a solution to imbalance, roam around in null-sec in EVE by yourself and you’ll find out how it would feel to be one of the smaller servers…

It really is a shame, because not all FA players post whining rants, same as not all TC players put up gloating posts.

Sure, a certain amount of it is going to come out when the same two servers face off continuously, because familiarity breeds contempt and all that, but we all really should try to curb the asinine behavior. The reason we respected YB as much as we did is that they (for the most part) tried to keep it civil and in good fun. We should try to do the same.

To the CD male human Thief Commander I just obliterated twice outside Astral on FABL, thanks for coming back a second time after you Alt F4’d the first time I got you down. I realise you thought you were safe the second time when you ran towards 2 allies fighting the Dolyak leaving the supply camp, I was happy to disappoint you and collect my badges from your staked corpse before dealing with them.

Honestly, how did nobody see this coming? Even if I had been part of this event or any desire to be, there is absolutely no way I would have turned up unarmed and trussed up like a turkey on thanksgiving, nor would I have stopped to ask questiont he second anyone opened fire. The mistake made by the participants is in unequiping your weapons and having the expectation that because some of you agreed to some sort of ceasefire, the rest of all servers have too.

Essentially, you are making a mountain out of something that happened in a PvP area where all is fair. Hold up hands anyone who was naive enough to think – even in the back of your mind – that someone wouldn’t have crashed the party. This to me is no different to people getting upset about getting killed in the JP just because you waved at someone.

It was a nice idea if you could have pulled it off, however, people need to stop acting like the world has come crashing down just because an event failed, it’s rather childish to perpetuate it even further.

Yeah, because BEFORE the dolyak, owning just HALF of your BLs was enough for us. Somebody sounds like a sore loser.

So any score updates?

Yeah, I noticed that the last few days. They do it on the hills around their citadel too, if given the opportunity. I guess some people like to take any advantage given, whether intentionally designed that way or not. I don’t do it for the same reason I don’t alt-f4… It just seems like poor sport.

The only crime here is that there aren’t more emotes. 1/2 the fun of playing CoD with my 10 yr old is listening to him call me, lets see if I have the entire list, n00b, nugget, poser, fng, girl, old man, meh.. I’m missing a few. He also says things like: stop it, you suck, and my personal favorite “I don’t love you any more.” But that is because I always make sure my first kill of the night is with a knife.

Its a game. I have no problem with people celebrating their victories. Who doesn’t jump out of their chair and do a little dance when they own Boardwalk and Park Place with hotels and their 9yr old daughter lands on it? Well, good daddies I guess, but I’m not one of those.

As a parent this post scares me. I’d never let my children talk that way to me… shrug Guess I’m just old fashioned, in the sense that if I lipped off to my Dad (no matter the situation) I was shown how literal his “iron-fisted” rule was…

But I do agree that the game would be fun with more emote animations. Since we have no way to talk to the other server but through our emotes, when half of the emotes that come through are either condescending or mocking, it is sure to only breed more animosity. I think we have plenty of that in this match up.

I am notorious for dancing on the body when I think somebody is corpse-spying though, so I am not much better than anybody else I suppose.

Quite the opposite of crying over 2v1, we had a blast. Nothing makes the boredom of the BL disappear like watching all of it flip. It really stoked a fire under us, as you saw today by our heavy retribution.

It’s not even that they run around with multiple tags without communicating their plans that bothers me, it is their condescending attitude. Basically one commander from that guild (who I won’t name) basically told every pug player on the map that they were not worthy of respect…
Map chat person: “Respect is earned (paraphrased)”
Commander:. “I don’t need to prove myself to you people.”
Map Chat Person: “YOU People?”
Commander: “Pugs.”

Don’t take that as an exact quote, it was later in the evening yesterday and I didn’t screenshot it or anything.

Point being, if you have a commander icon, communicate in map chat so that these stupid quarrels can be avoided. Even if all you say is something like “running a guild op, don’t come to my icon” is loads better than running around leaving everybody else in the dark. Furthermore, don’t down on the Pugs, as that is just poor attitude no matter the situation. It reeks of elitism and arrogance.

Well that is splendid! Nothing like trying to plan the party only to realize it’s already started! XD

Well maybe this will promote renewed interest, at the least.

Hello all,
As the creator of a small WvW guild that has only recently begun to expand enough to contribute significantly in our WvW activities on Tarnished Coast, I have started to realize the number of skilled players that reside in other guilds. Rather than hopping guilds myself, or hoping that other players will come to my guild, I thought it might be more beneficial to discuss uniting the various guilds through an alliance.

To this end, I would like to invite the other guild leaders on TC that participate in WvW, big and small, to discuss this idea in-depth.

The few ideas I came up with that could make this idea possible are:
1) an alliance-hosted voice-over-IP server with a high player limit
2) a leading or governing guild that has the final say over alliance disputes/issues (could be elected by vote, or any other appropriate means)
3) an alliance website, forum, or thread that lists its member guilds and participating commanders.

Being a small guild, we don’t have the means to start something this ambitious on our own, so it would be great if one of our server’s larger guilds would step in and contribute. Again, these are merely ideas and hopefully good discussion-starters on the subject, so feel free to jump in and contribute your opinions. The objectives to remember are to
1) promote communication between guilds and their members
2) foster unity on the server
3) create a mutual respect and cooperative effort between the various guilds and players on TC.

Maybe this would give us the edge we need to finally break into T2!

To add to that, militia also don’t recognize formal alliances, so they could potentially cause one to fall apart unintentionally.

See that’s the problem with exploiting every day sometimes your opponents will copy your tactics. Seems unfair doesn’t it?

I’d say that this sort of attitude is detrimental to actually solving anything. You cheated, so now I’m going to cheat, but you had better not complain about it? How about be the better person, report exploiters when you see them, and try to just enjoy the game? If you take it so serious that you have to cheat, you’ve missed the point. That goes for anybody who exploits.

Some good fights to be had already, especially on the TCBL. Keep it up, folks! And welcome, CD!

One of the biggest complaints I hear about how guilds are done in this game is related to the representation feature (and the resulting lack of communication with non-representing members)…

So while shooting the breeze with a couple guildies the other night, we came up with this solution (I have no idea about its viability, it is really just the unrefined result of a brainstorming session):

Option A- Allow the members of a guild to always see the chat channel of a guild, regardless of whether the player is representing, by merging all the messages into the guild channel. Messages typed into guild chat goes to all the guilds you are a member of.

Option B- Create a separate chat channel for each guild that the players can see at all times, though leave the option to enable/disable channels at will to limit confusion.

It seems to me that option B would be preferable, though it might neccessitate the use of an entire server just to hold all the chat channels, and could possibly create all kinds of problems.

So what do you think? Any way we can refine this idea into a viable solution?

Hello all, Karn Aegispaw [BIF] here from TC. I just wanted to apologize to FA for the disruption my buddy and I caused yesterday, killing just about every dolyak we could get to, for several hours. We are especially sorry for stealing the dolyak right out from under your noses at your northern-most supply camp, for which you slaughtered us. It was all in good fun! What else is a pair of upleveled-from-20’s good for?

Born of Ice and Fire is a new guild on the Tarnished Coast server, created by new players as a way for other new players to help each other and learn how the game works! In BIF, all members are the same rank, and have the same permissions. No more elitist officers lording their position over you!

Hello all, I’m a new player. After playing in the WvWvW for a few hours, I’m totally hooked. However, on my current server, we have a pretty imbalanced fight. Our color is red, and the majority of the map is dominated by green (including a good deal of our own continent). So I thought I would take advantage of the free transfer to head for greener pastures. If it doesn’t pan out, I can always go back in a week, right?

Here is what I am hoping for in a new server:
1) NA based
2) One that is in a balanced WvWvW matchup
3) Ideally that has few guilds actively involved in WvWvW, but willing to take on new players
4) No queue times. I hate Queues.
5) It doesn’t have to be a top-tier server, or even anything near it. I just want a nice balanced fight.

Ok, now that you know what I’m looking for, what are your suggestions? If you could address each of the requests I made in your posts, that would be extra awesome!
