If wanting my character to wear white boxers with red hearts on it is wrong, then I don’t want to be right!
I’m aware, what I’m asking is; Why do the bat wings NOT have the same physics treatment that the feather wings backpack have? As in, the bat wings are super rigid and do not flow about, like the feather wings backpack does.
They’re both gemstore items?
I can’t seem to find a thread on this already, please direct me if there is one. Why do these wings not have the same physics treatment that the feather wings do? These are super rigid, like the feather wings originally were. Is this intended?
EDIT: I definitely meant bat wings backpack. My bad
Or is the 250 points for elite specs supposed to be live already? Are we going to wait another week for this to go live or what?
I think 65 (or whatever the rest of the specializations cost) is how much it should be. They should also remove the ‘elite’ prefix from it. There is nothing elite about it. It’s simply a new way to play your class. There is no advantage over the old specializations. However, in the interest of compromise, I’ll settle for 250. I think the vast majority of players that voiced their opinion on the 400 points being too high, will agree with that.

Unfortunately I am at work so I will have to revisit this thread later. OP, don’t give up. It’s becoming more and more clear a large (and growing) number of people are not happy with the high cost of elite specs. Never give up! This can still be turned around.

Guess what? You’re already one of those people. So am I. We all are. There’s nothing wrong with that, it is what it is. But it DOES mean that you don’t need to question the entire population to get an opinion on something. Please rate my comments from now on, I value the level you think I respond with. I feel the last one was at least a 7/10. Carry on.

Do you think any time a survey used to describe the general population is made, they sample even .001% of the population? This happens in real life (it exists!) EVERY. DAY. And I’m sure you accept that without batting an eye or throwing a fit over it. So yes, the sample size is actually more than adequate.

You wouldn’t avoid the challenge if you could prove me wrong. Walk away, you’re quickly losing this argument.

The elite specs DO take 20-25 hours on average. That is not an opinion, that is a statement backed up by the 60+ page mega thread that I’m confident you avoid.

Saying herald takes 2 hours to unlock is stating a fact, not an opinion. Learn the difference. Let’s make this fun, here’s a challenge for you. Level a brand new revenant to 80 without gaining any map hero points. Recording a video of you, at level 80, with 0 hero points, and go unlock your entire herald spec in 120 minutes or less. If you do this, I will buy you a legendary of your choice (besides eternity). Let me break this down a bit for you, wouldn’t want you to strain yourself.
This means that you will need 40 hero points in the jungle. Each point can take you no less than 3 minutes. This includes travel time. Some of those hero points are a simple “channel to acquire”. The vast majority are champion monsters that require 5+ people. Come prepared.
Each map only has 3-5 points that can be achieved without mysteries. Lucky for you, I am SO confident that you can’t do this, I’ll let you do this with what you have unlocked already. Since you’ve already done a full 400 hero points on one revenant, I will assume this means you have ALL mastery tracks unlocked. Yay!
Go ahead and do this today or tomorrow. Since it’s only 2 hours, it shouldn’t be a problem to have done in the next 48 hours. I only challenge you with all of this since you are SO KEEN at proving people wrong.

The thing is, he doesn’t HAVE to refute anything you say. That’s the wonderful thing about opinions, everyone is entitled to theirs and you don’t get to say otherwise. As for unlocking your herald spec, completely, all 400 points, in 2 hours? You’re wrong. Plain and simple.

OP, let them be Anet white knights all they want to. It’s still early into the xpac. They don’t have the foresight any intelligent person would have to know how horrible it’s going to be when you’re on you 5th toon trying to unlock your elite spec. Once they finally get around to that point, they’ll see the light. The grind will finally have worn away their fanboy attitude and they’ll understand what we, and the THREE THOUSAND other angry posters are talking about (reference; see the mega thread). Each elite spec takes an average of 20-25 hours to unlock. I have 11 toons. So kindly, go kitten yourself if you think it’s entitled or whining for wanting elite specs at a lower rate.

I agree, the game has always been a ‘play how you want to’ game and they went back on that with 0 warning. I bought the xpac for elite specs, nothing else. I don’t enjoy PvE, I should not be forced to grind it for hundred of hours just to play how I want to. Elite specs should cost the same amount as regular specs, the skins can cost the extra points.

A 4 hour grind is a far cry from the actual time investment to unlock a full elite spec. Plan on closer to 20 hours to fully unlock the elite spec on ONE character.
you are funny, only 20 hours?
Shhhh I’m being optimistic

To use the new classes we need to beat the new content with our old classes.
Yeah, no thanks. What do I do after I beaten the new stuff? There’s nothing left.
Could not have said it any better. How the development team didn’t think of that, I will never understand.
After seeing posts on these forums, as well as chatter in game, from my experience it seems that the grind to unlock elite specs is not being accepted. I think they’ll see a dramatic population drop in the next week or so when people get tired of grinding all day every day just to unlock the elite spec so they can replay all the content they’ve already done 50+ times.
GW2 is now one of the games where players say “I worked and grinded for days to get this thing, so now I can have fun”.

I think the undeniable fact of this xpac SO FAR is that it is not alt friendly, not solo friendly, and VERY grindy.

I suppose we run into the argument then of who is the majority, the player with about one of every class (for a total of nine) that they want the elite spec on, or the player who has just one or two characters. If I was just worried about getting the elite spec on one toon, I probably wouldn’t be too worked up but I would still be able to see the point of others unhappiness.
As for being handed the toys right at the beginning, I don’t think we should just get it for free by any means. Yea, we should have to unlock it. But I think 100 points seems far more reasonable. That would be 10 challenges in the HoT maps, which are NOT simple or easy. A great deal of them are gated behind masteries, which I wouldn’t have a problem with if they were soloable. A lot of them seem to spawn a champion monster that is not soloable, often not even able to be killed by 2 players. You need a group. This would all be perfectly fine if you didn’t have to do it 40 times.

I have to respectfully 100% disagree. The elite specs are not more powerful, better suited, or designed more effectively than the normal specs. Someone with an elite spec does not have an advantage over any player without it. Anet has said this numerous times, elite specs are simply a new way to play your class. By that logic, they should not cost more than a normal trait tree.
I’m not going to necessarily argue that they should only cost 65 points to unlock entirely, but 400? That doesn’t seem absurd? Let’s say it takes about 20 hours to unlock the entire elite spec. I have 11 characters. I’m expected to play each character for 20 hours, just to play the way I want to? For 220 hours total, I am expected to grind? Explain to me how that seems right, in a game that is marketed as ‘grind free’.

Any amount over the standard 65 points or whatever it is for unlocking a normal traitline is too much. It’s gated behind having every skill/traitline unlocked first, that should be enough. I have 11 characters, if it’s going to take 20+ hours of GRINDING (which we never do in gw2) per character, then I’m going to find a new game. I’m not spending 220 hours just to play the way I want to play.

I’m all for earning your way, don’t get me wrong. But I also definitely side with the group that would prefer to experience the new content while playing the new spec, rather than experience what I can only assume is a large portion of it to unlock the spec. Maybe paying for it with gems is the wrong approach, but it’s the best idea I’ve seen thus far.
I don’t understand the argument of “if you don’t want to play the game then what are you doing?” in regards to not wanting to earn 400 HP to unlock the elites. Why is it so ridiculous that someone might want to play through the new content WITH the new elite spec? Not play through the content, and THEN get the elite spec?
Does anyone know the sort of time investment on unlocking our Elite Spec’s? I can’t seem to find any info on it other than it will require 400 points to unlock completely. I was really looking forward to playing through the HoT content with the Elite Spec already unlocked, not the other way around. Any info or guesstimates are appreciated!
Hi, I recently have been having pretty severe issues with my game cutting out, going to a black screen, and then recovering several seconds later. Once this issue begins occurring, it continues every 30 seconds or so until I restart my computer or close Guild Wars 2. This only has occurred in GW2, however I also play WoW and Wildstar. I have yet to have this happen in any other game. I am getting the following crash error report:

I’ve tried uninstalling the video drivers and reinstalling, doing a fresh installation each time. My drivers are all up to date. I’ve uninstalled GW2 and reinstalled with a fresh installation. I’ve tried running Nvidia Geforce experience alongside the drivers to see if it generates a better crash report or something for me to try to fix this issue. I’ve also ran a memory leak check, just on the off chance that windows is not giving me a proper crash report. Nothing I have tried so far has worked. Please advise if you know how to fix this issue!!
Rig specs:
MSI z97 Mobo
i5-4690k
Nvidia Geforce GTX 660
8g Ram
Running the game on mostly max settings.
Maybe someone already suggested this and I missed it, but I don’t think the drones will function as minions OR signets. Why hasn’t anyone suggested Mantras? The drones could be a passive visual ONLY effect, just orbiting around you. You use the drone skill to summon (“build”) it, its active has a couple uses before it deconstructs and then it goes on cooldown. Just like Mantras. Obviously each drone serves a different purpose, just like each Mantra on Mesmer is pretty different.
I could be totally off with this prediction, but it doesn’t seem that unlikely to me.
I don’t do a lot of the content outside of WvW or sPvP so I don’t really know too much about the drop rates outside of that. However, for MY experience, it was a 100% reduction in drop rates. While that’s highly unlikely to be the actual rate, it wouldn’t surprise me if for whatever reason the sPvP drop rate is only 10% of what it used to be. This is extremely frustrating, especially for me, as I am trying to build a legendary and this has dramatically increased the time necessary to build. Would love to get a red to confirm/deny that this is a bug.
As I understand it, with the most recent update, spirit shards are to serve as the currency that skill points formally served as far as currency for vendors. All sources that formally gave skill points now either give hero points or spirit shards. This means that all sources that formally gave skill point scrolls now should give spirit shards, right? Well I just finished an entire PvP track, from 0-100%, which normally would yield at LEAST 15 skill point scrolls (this is figuring EXTREMELY low). I did not get a single spirit shard outside of the three awarded for the daily completion.
Is this working as intended, or a known bug? Thanks.
Without going back and adding everything up, I would estimate around $1200 since launch. That’s gemstore only, does not include my collectors edition or the ultimate HoTs edition.
I haven’t tried spectral grasp at all until now, but this utility is freaking amazing. Why do more necros not use this? I think this is the answer to my problem. I’ll have to give signet of spite a try, hadn’t considered it because like you said I’m not a condi build so that active seemed kinda ‘meh’.
I’m very very new to necro, been playing around with a power necro build similar to the ‘traditional power necro’ build on metabattle, with a few things different. Anyways, the class is a ton of fun but I find myself struggling against LB rangers hammering 2. Normally it’s not an issue, however, they seem to ALWAYS find me with my pants down via 0 life force or DS being on cooldown when they start rapid fire. This is one of the only classes I have trouble against, because they out range me and I have a hard time getting away from them. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.
I just got a guardian to 80 today. I’m coming from playing a lot of engineer primarily, and recently a decent amount of time on a warrior. Other than that, my class experience is limited. Long story short, I prefer to play builds that favor CC over damage because I find they are far superior in 1v1 or 1v2 fights, which is what I primarily encounter in WvW. Thus, I figured playing a hammer medi guardian would be the answer. However, it seems I am wrong. The hammers abilities have an incredible wind up time, particularly the 3rd hit from AA. Hammer 2 hits pretty hard, but not nearly as hard as GS 2. Hammer 4 has such an obvious animation and wind up time that I can count on one hand how many times I’ve actually landed it on someone. What do you hammer guardians run to make use of this weapon? Or is hammer on guard just kind of inferior to GS? Thanks.
I do notice that if all the stars align and I have applied 20 stacks of vulnerability to them, either through mace 4+rifle 4 or the utility, Kill Shot hits like a freakin truck. Like, over 13k crits. And if I take burst precision, it’s always a crit. This is pretty enjoyable in pvp to just do mace 5, mace 4, fear me, rifle 4 and kill shot. I have yet to not kill someone with this combo, does an immense amount of damage.
However, for pve, I just don’t see the damage as ‘viable’. To me, pve is not a place for burst damage, which is how the rifle is coming off to me. So maybe this weapon has its place in pvp, but not quite as applicable in pve?
I find mesmer to be the most fun of the 3 light armor. It doesn’t hit as hard as ele, but it makes up for that with more defensive skills and more mobility. And, all that aside, you shoot lasers from great swords. That’s hard to pass up.
Well from what I gather, warrior rifle is average at best, but still inferior to long bow on warrior for a ranged choice. It’s too bad that the only class in the game to make use of this weapon is engineer. I hope thief gets it as a specialization, and maybe revenant too.
Hey all,
I recently just started playing warrior. Up until now, I have next to zero experience on anything except engineer. I built The Predator on him, and wanted to be able to transfer that into a warrior build. However, after only a few hours of playing at 80, it quickly became apparent that rifle is FAR inferior to longbow. I remember a long time ago hearing about how they nerfed rifle on warrior, but I don’t recall what changes were made.
My question is this; what changes need to be made to warrior rifle for it to be viable again? And are there any viable rifle builds still around? Thanks all.
Well, this is the way I look at it. Any (offensive) skill that is NOT on CD is a wasted slot. I personally run grenade kit, toolkit, and elixir s. The rotation I always attempt to do starts with rifle 3 and 4, then 2, grenade barrage, swap to grenade kit and do 4 and 5, swap to toolkit and do 5 followed by 3. By then, my rifle skills just came off cooldown, and I can do it all over again. If I put bomb kit in there, somewhere I will have skills off cooldown and ready to use, but not being used. All of that aside, you also could probably make use of another defensive utility anyways.
I would recommend using berserker accessories until you have ascended celestial accessories. Even then, taking ascended berserker is pretty good too. What made you decide to run bomb and grenade together? It might be better to take one or the other, and take another utility instead. I take elixir s, gives me a good escape and easy stomp. However, I mostly do solo or duo roaming, so that could change things a bit.
I never liked the SAB, every time it rolled around i found it boring and just went about my business ignoring it. However why is it that everyone is so up in arms over this? i get that people want content because the game feels stagnant right now, but everyday a new SAB thread is starting and its flooding the forums to the point where its out of hand.
Anet said they will re-release it when they are ready to, but the threats and the protests wont make them change their mind any faster. The whining and the entitlement make the community look bad. i don’t mean to sound like a jerk, but honestly all this anger is getting old and out of control.
I’m all for having fun content in game, even if i don’t like it, but there’s no reason act like bratty children who don’t get their way.
So how long should we have to wait before it becomes too long then? At what point do you suggest we draw the line? Sure it might come off as whining, and that is honestly what it is. We are complaining because we are unhappy. Should we just sit in silence and hope that Anet guesses we are angry?
I agree it should not be permanent. It loses its flair and uniqueness if it’s just always available. However, it really should be on a schedule. Every 6-7 months or once every year around April Fools or in August for the Back To School thing. That way, the people that have the coin don’t feel cheated and everyone can reliably assume they will get a chance at the event again.
Would you pay extra money for an infinite version of something that you only planned on using once? Probably not, the fact that it is infinite and reuseable said that the content would be coming back again. They themselves set a 6-7 month period by releasing W2 6-7 months after the first one. What if you bought infinite harvesting tools today, used them all over tyria and then woke up tomorrow to find that they removed harvesting nodes from the world? They have not said they are not going to remove harvesting nodes from the world and then what if instead of a refund they just told you that when the time is right and it wouldn’t take away from the living story, they would reintroduce the harvesting nodes and you could use it again? do you think you would feel the same way?
You didn’t use it once tho did you? And even if you had for whatever reason used it only once, its not their fault, again, they never set a timetable for it to return, they did however say when they would be removing it, so you had more than enough time to think if you really wanted to buy it or not, all things considered.
The comparison is kinda ridiculous, they didn’t set a 6-7 month period, you set a 6-7 month period because you had expectations, nowhere did they ever said SAB was a permanent content or that you’d have the chance to play it every year.
Harvesting nodes on the other hand are part of the core world so if they were to remove it for whatever reason the situation would be completely different.
Harvesting nodes are not part of the core world. Just because they’ve been here since release, and have always been available, does not make the part of the core world. They have no inclusion in the living story or ‘direction’ of the game. These are the reasons given why SAB isn’t available. Does the living story still make sense without harvesting nodes? Yup. Does immersion or thematic elements in the game still function without them? Sure does. Crafting would obviously become ludicrously expensive, but that’s all that would change.
Why do you care if it comes back? Do you lose something by it being in the game?
Because i didn’t enjoy it, didn’t fit in with the games theme at all AND it had limited time skins. I didn’t say it should never come back, i said it shouldn’t permanent. Which i then gave valid reasons that you probably didn’t read.
I’ve seen this guy posting on pretty much every single SAB thread on the front page. He’s just kitten because he probably couldn’t do well in SAB when it was still around. Breaking immersion and doesn’t fit with the living story? THERE IS NO LIVING STORY RIGHT NOW. And for fitting into the theme or immersion or what have you, yesterday everyone ran around with their arms out making airplane noises. Your argument is invalid.
I am so glad that it is finally gone. If they had simply added a way to disable the feature, a lot of the complaining would’ve never happened. That being said, they really should make it into a gem store item similar to the bobble head thing. So many people really enjoyed this event, it wouldn’t make sense to not do it.
From my very limited experience with photo editing, it should be pretty easy to edit any screen shots and add the sepia photo-effect to it. Not sure how to go about adding the subtle vertical white/black lines though.
Your analogy makes no sense. So tell me how much money you paid to play GW2 today? You do not own the game, you lease the right to log on to their servers and play. They can revoke that right at any time. You are entitled to nothing.
^yep this guy gets it^
So are you guys part of the group with a sense of humor, then? I hope one day you try to run your own business. Be sure to tell all of your customers that they are entitled to nothing, and their opinions are not valid or valued. Trust me, it’ll go over well.
If I can contribute at all to add a disable feature, then I’ll be kitten ed if some random person on the internet saying “quite whining” will stop me. We were mad about it with the bobble heads last year, we’re mad about it again this year. I hope there are 15 more threads about this. Anet needs to listen to their players, not just the ones with “a sense of humor”.
