Crafting should give the player bonuses not in other ways obtainable. Not huge things, just small things that you can craft for your personal use.

Heres a few points i’d like to see implemented when it comes to crafting
- Unique “devices/items” that are either A) Account/Soul-bound on craft. (makes crafting rewarding in fun, but not through gold) Requires a certain level in the profession for the player to be usable. Leveling a craft will then be rewarding.

- Skins or better looking armor through crafting. Seriously, the lv400 weaponsmithy “pearl” weapons are (sorry) my least favorite model. At lvl300+ crafting there are very few special models to craft. Most craftables follow the standard models.. Doesn’t have to be oh-so-legendary looking, maybe something just wearable by crafters.

- Add town clothing for tailors. The game is not about gears and stats, it’s about appearance and skill. Any player appreciates cosmetics.

- Add weapon upgrade options, which requires a certain level in profession to apply. The upgrade should not be about stats, just add a tiny glow, very sparkles, a little shininess or some other purely cosmetical effect.

- There should be craftable items that are not good for leveling the skill, these items are spammed at the lions trading. Something that requires crafting skill from the player and rare resources. It is utterly important that this craftable is in no way suitable for mass producing for fast skill leveling!!

Crafting should give the player something cosmetical, some insignificant bonus.. another game i played for awhile that had this better on. You could craft fireworks, parachutes, rocket loaded boots, rocket launcher belts, companions, wings etc.. Nothing gamebreaking that gives unfair advantage, just small things that made a crafter happy.

Make the crafter special, bottom line.

The game economy might need to change, all the tyrian wars are demanding on our wallets.

What: P/d pistol immobilize.
Why: I can spam it, with wire-trap, caltrops, roll for iniative, dodge, dagger-throw slow and the other roll back and heal thing.. i kite everything in WvW with this setup. Except that elementalist, i dealt 500 dmg to her before i was down.

What: Shortbow AutoAttack
Why: It bounces between targets, dealing damage without having the Thief to aim! The thief should have to aim at all times, it’s an assassin! The thief should have to manually calculate the refraction angles if he wants the arrows to bounce targets.

As Kharr mentioned i think it’s still not tracking targets.

The SB #4 range nerf was a sad story, it’s not like shadowstepping anymore.. more like jumping need to use it 2-3 times to get some distance, our shortbow range is still limited so we can’t do more damage.

For farming (not dungeons) i go DaggerDagger, it gives me the most damage output. Running with anything else when farming makes it feel like i am ten lv’s lower.

For bosses/dungeon etc most favorable P/d, or S/p gives me the best utility/survival.

Reboot PC, Right click and run as admin on the patcher. Silly suggestion and im sure you’ll already tried it, in some cases admin privs are required to run/read files i certain folders.

Have you installed the game on the same drive as your operating system? Is the game installed on a drive with the letter C: ? Hard-coded paths suck big kittehs, until recently i got rid of a windows install which used another letter for it’s drive. Nuts how third party applications rely on those letters really. I had to run a dummy usb as C: for things to work LOL.

Are there more than one user on your PC ? Im thinking maybe you’ve lost ownership of the directory. You can regain it then, there’s even a reg key for downloads which adds the option to your context menu. If youre swapping drives between PC’s this could happen. Or in environments with multiple users.

On a side note, where did you get that IP Changer? Sounds like a hoax..

A common cause is using WiFi over the holidays, your neighbors are disrupting your service.

I myself have a router which shuts off the WiFi connection for 20-30 seconds every 15 minutes. It’s my second router with this behaviour (the other one where even a different brand), the ISPs are giving out bad routers no doubt. Always use cabled connections.

If you are using a cabled connection, it’s caused by your ISP oversaturating the networks. They’re selling more bandwidth than they can support, because statistically on normal days less bandwidth is used per person. But then, on holidays every person on the network wants their full bandwidth and theres simply not enough.

It’s just like the banks with their fractional reserve :|

I’d also suggest a fresh install, back up your files though.

As far as BIOS you will only have to worry about getting the latest version for your MOBO, depending on your motherboard the process varies. Some if not most motherboards allow you to perform the update within windows, some requires you to flash from USB and so forth. It’s not that hard and there’s manuals on the manufacturers website.

Just google your model number and brand, first link should be the manufacturer. You don’t HAVE to update the BIOS, but in some cases it fixes some bluescreens and issues with the board. It can even improve the performance to some extent.

The BIOS resides on the motherboard, the CPU is just a calculator.

EDIT:
You should not use that CD, it contains the drivers along with bloatware. The drivers on the CD are also not the latest version. You should get all the drivers from the manufacturers website, do not skip one! not even that pesky network driver. I know it might just work fine without it just now, but remember! It’ll save you some headache later.

Yes there is, but only do this if you are using an ethernet cable to connect your PC to your router/modem. Air-based networking is easily disrupted and not recommended for any PC purposes. Likely causes to your problem: Thanksgiving being a holiday, people are home browsing the internets. Their WiFi is disrupting your WiFi. Most likely if you are living in an apartment.

IF you are, doing it the real way with cables. You could run “ping gw2serveraddress -t >> pingdata.txt”. Which will save you the ping times to a text file. Replace gw2serveraddress with the address of the actual server. Depending on which server you play at.

You should also ping your gateway, sometimes your gateway will slow down, it might be receiving updates or maybe it’s just weak as cheese. Do you share the connection? Their web browsing habits could affect your gaming experience IF: your router doesn’t know how to QoS. (aka being cheap.) You might be able to fix this, either configuring the router or replacing it altogether.

Don’t go rushing off blaming it on the ISP. In many cases it’s their fault, but far from all. In some cases they’re routing your traffic over already busy nodes, some nodes might be down for maintenance and so forth.

Depending on the architecture of your local (area, not only your personal) network, during busy hours the line capacity might not be enough. If there’s not enough bandwidth available, it won’t be fast enough. Thus your browsing experience is dependent on your neighbors, which would explain thanksgiving lack of etherpower.

“It’s a new computer”, most likely a hardware issue. Check your hardware, RAM or drives are faulty. RAM modules frequently comes damaged, rule the easy ones out first.

Use MEMTEST to check your ram sticks.
Use CHKDSK to check your drive.

I’m guessing that the file is not accessible and writeable.

It’s causing problems. Delete it. (Seriously, it’s no big deal. Just REM it!)

You can’t delete it? You most likely won’t be able to, since it is most likely locked.

An old instance is still running, thus the file is locked. Run “taskkill /f /im Gw2.exe”, now start the game.

Still not working? Restart your PC.

Error c0000005 is a buffer overrun.

Do you get this consequently/often or in any other programs?

This seems to be the first occurence of a rare error. It could therein possibly be caused by something else. A buffer overrun means that something is missing an end, thus the application is reading past the data it was looking for.

It could be caused by drive corruption. Run CHKDSK (with /f and /r) to verify, no errors? The install might be corrupt. This is most likely the cause IF: you’ve had this error multiple times, at the same map, loading the same models, etc.

It could also be caused by faulty RAM. Do you get this error intermittently? In any other game? (or any other application that allocates more memory than gw). Run MEMTEST for 8 hours. Any errors? Remove one stick of RAM and rerun. Replace faulty sticks.

You could also try reinstalling C++ redistributable.
Redownloading the game, your game might gone corrupt at download/patch.

Do you have a new computer as well? Im guessing you both bought it in the sales xD

I have the Phenom II 960T BE, it’s still going strong. At the time of purchase it had a really nice price/performance ratio. Im not running it OC’d nor unlocked the 5th and 6th core cause it really didn’t improve frames as much.

BUT: You should not upgrade your system just to play gw2, game is too poorly optimized. You will spend money for a dissapointment. There is currently no affordable CPU that can handle WvW, large events and world boss. Im fine (60fps) on 15 player events, solo PvE and PvP (not wvw).

If you’re having struggles with smaller events/pvp and wish to perform better in these areas, that processor will help you. Anything more demanding is a no go.

In contrast, I’m paired with a 7850, which runs at 20-35% of its capacity.

I’d update your network drivers. It’s most likely the cause when stressing your network driver, downloading guild wars should in no way stress your GPU.

As for the steam downloads, they’re not exactly the same as guild wars downloads. I had no problems with full speed p2p downloads in general, just the specific case.

I had this BS once when i was developing a server, during a networked stress test. Updating the network drivers fixed the issue for me, it was a driver and not a 3rdptsoftware/hardware based issue.
