Hey guys,
I started playing GW2 a few months ago. I started on this server because my cousin (who played at that time) was on this server. He no longer plays and this server seems kinda dead or I’m just not seeing anyone with the exception of the human starting zone (nothing in map chat half the time either). I was hoping to find an active guild (people to TALK TO at the least) to join while playing the game.
My highest character at this point is level 38 (engineer) but I have a lot of experience with MMORPG’s. I played WoW for years and I really enjoy PvP and PvE (dungeons/questing).
Anyone out there recruiting?
I was super excited to get my flesh golem when I hit level 30.
I’m disappointed. This thing dies in a few hits. Is he ever going to beef up or be useful or should I swap him out for a different elite? Any tips for keeping him alive? I’ve been trying to keep him up with staff #2 regen which seems to help a little but for the most part he gets crushed.
Help?
Okay,
So I just bought a new iMac for my business (I work from home) and installed GW2 over night and it runs AWESOMELY.
However, this computer came with a wireless keyboard and a “magic mouse” which I guess you could say has no buttons (i.e no separation between right click and left click buttons) making it hard to maneuver my character as I generally would run forward and turn while holding both the left and right mouse buttons down. Is there any way to do this with this mouse or am I going to have to plug in my old mouse when playing? I also can’t scroll through my inventory or zoom in or out on the map with this mouse. When I attempt to scroll it tilts my camera angle.
Halp please
Ranger! You’ll get used to the pet and you can actually find ways to use them to your advantage.
I actually like playing with Greatsword and having my pet beating away at stuff next to me, and all the different pets with different special abilities make it fun and diverse.
Is it possible to farm these? I don’t want to pay 17s each for them at the Trading Post, but I find one of the most fun things on this game to be collecting different dyes and customizing my gear!
If you have any suggestions on where I could go, that would be awesome!
I’ve been leveling a mesmer and so far it’s great for single target. If I some how pull too many I get stomped.
Do you guys have any tips for taking on groups at lower levels? I’ve been using the staff/greatsword. I tried sword/focus but being in melee range seemed to kill me even faster.
Help
I’ve had this problem on multiple characters with my boots never being transmuted. I’ll file a ticket.
I’m not sure if this is a bug or not but when I change my gear colors everything will change except for my boots. I add a color to them, and it shows that it changed them but when I close my character window all of my other colors will change except for my boots.
Curious.
Anyone else having this problem? Kind of annoying to have a different color pallet on my mesmer… and purple boots forever.
I’ve been playing my Necro for a while now (almost level 40) and so far it’s pretty fun with all the AoE spells and slows/blinds/bleeds I have. The thing is, I feel like I’m not doing any damage. I know I AM doing a lot of damage but for some reason because it’s condition based, it feels like stuff dies at a snails pace.
I have been considering making a Mesmer but I know their survivability at lower levels is pretty crappy until around level 40. How does a Mesmer compare to a Necromancer when it comes to taking on groups of monsters in PvE and survivability/damage? I’ve made one and gone to the mists to play with spells but it’s a lot different when you’re actually trying to level one up.
Hopefully someone out there plays both and can help me out.
They really need to make the POI’s more noticeable. I don’t know how many times I’ve tried to complete a map and couldn’t find the last POI.
That harpy destroyer was a kitten. I only killed her with my engineer ’cause I got lucky by using 3 when I was dead (explosion).
Dodge is your best friend.
I’ve been in the same dilemma (with those same 3 classes, ironically) and I think if you really want diversity and support, go Engineer!
I’m having the most fun with that class so far. It’s a challenging play style with lots of different buttons and skills you can play with. Keeps it interesting
I can’t speak from a level 80 stand point but as the fun factor goes, try Engineer!
Thanks for the quick and helpful response!
Greetings!
I’ve been wanting to make an Engineer for a long time. How do they perform in higher end PvE areas? Can they hold their own pretty well if played right? Take on a couple mobs and survive pretty well while putting out decent damage?
Any recommendations on what weapons to use to start with?
:)
Ok, so PvP.
Since you have the availability to scale up to 80 when you enter the Mists or WvW, is PVP viable on a character that you haven’t leveled to 80?
Is there any benefit to leveling your character up to 80 before starting PvP? Or can you gear them up just the same on a level 2 character as you would on an 80.
I hope this makes sense to someone. haha
Helpful and informative! Much appreciated
^^
Thanks for the detailed and very helpful response
Hey guys. I’ve been trying to choose between ranger and thief for a while now and haven’t gotten too many responses.
I really love playing ranged classes. I really wanted to know how viable thief is as a ranged class?
I know the short bow is pretty awesome, and you have the option to do dual pistols. When you use sword/pistol or d/d, how much time do you spend in melee? Can someone give me an idea of how a typical fight goes against multiple enemies?
It would really make my decision a lot easier, as I’m leaning more towards the thief at this point.
Happy hunting.
Welcome to any MMO forums ever. lol
I found that 100% completing all the zones I go through keeps it interesting and lets you explore. Don’t forget to go to all the Points of Interest, Vistas, and Waypoints on the map. When you complete the zone 100% you get a nice chunk of experience and a chest full of random goodies
I’m new to the Ranger class and I’m liking it so far! My only problem so far: How do you handle 3+ mobs when you’re by yourself? I frequently find myself mobbed by creatures and it seems to take me a while to kill them and to stay alive.
Are there tips or tricks to ranger for dealing with groups? Will I get more skills later that make it easier?
:)
Looking to roll one of these two classes as I’ve always been obsessed with archery and bows.
I really like the short bow on Thief. I love the bomb arrow and the poison shot and the fact that the auto attack bounces between targets all while having them slowed with caltrops. However, thief seems to feel like you’re pigeon holed into going mêlée most of the time which is something I don’t really enjoy in an MMO.
Ranger is awesome and seems like a pretty cool class, definitely like both of the bows and the pets. I like that they have a wide variety of weapons.
I guess my real question is: how can I compare to the thief’s AoE damage with the ranger while staying mobile, and do they ever get an area slow like the thief’s caltrops? Any tips?
Thanks
Hey!
I’m looking to make an alt to play when my cousin isn’t available to play with me. (We are questing together)
I prefer to play from range but I don’t mind a little melee action here and there. I like the ability to take on multiple mobs with decent damage and survivability.
I was wondering if someone could tell me the pros and cons of the Mesmer profession! I’ve heard good and bad but I’d rather hear it from someone with experience as I don’t really know anyone who plays a Mesmer.
Any kind of help would be great :-)
Salutations my good friends
I’m currently playing as a Necromancer with my cousin and we are working hard to play together as much as we can. I don’t want to complete zones without him, and so, I’m thinking I’ll make another Profession during the times when we can’t play together.
I’ve narrowed it down to Mesmer, Engineer, or Elementalist.
I prefer to play from range.
I don’t like the fact that the Engineer and Elementalist can’t swap weapons.
Mesmer seems like it would be a hard class to level up, and I need to be mostly self sufficient.
Can anyone maybe tell me the pros and cons of each or which you think would better suit my play style? Much appreciated
No, this makes it all the better.
Let’s say you’re fighting a frog, a cat, and a wolf. You target the cat, and use grasping dead and enfeebling blood. All three enemies have 5 stacks of bleeding now. You then immediately use epidemic, with the cat targeted. The cat’s conditions travel to the frog and the wolf – not overwriting them, but copying and pasting them. That means the frog and wolf will have 10 stacks, though the cat will still have 5 stacks.
Hope that makes sense. Keep it on your bar, it’s the bread and butter skill of any condition necromancer.
That’s exactly what I was wondering! Thanks!!
Hey guys!
I’m a fairly new player so forgive me if I sound ignorant.
Having played World of Warcraft for ~6 years as a Warlock and a Shadow Priest, the Necromancer profession seemed right up my alley.
So far it’s pretty cool, however, one skill seems to confuse me. Epidemic.
So it’s supposed to spread my conditions from my current target to up to 4 more mobs, yes? My confusion comes from this: both of my condition spells so far (keep in mind I’m like level 15) are AoE conditions. Does this make Epidemic useless for solo PVE play? Or does it re-stack conditions on more foes. Say I drop down my two bleeds on 5 mobs, and get 6 stacks on everything. If I cast Epidemic on my target is it going to add 6 more stacks to the other mobs nearby? I’m currently using Scepter/Dagger and Staff.
I’m trying to understand when I would use this spell.
I hope this isn’t too stupid of a question. :P Any kind of help or advice would be greatly appreciated!
