It is amazing to observe how hopeless and aimless the necromancer is developed since the beginning of GW2.

For example, the size of aoe effects. A back and forth, larger, smaller, and extra large again… wow…

But is made much more obvious by the aimless balancing of dhuumfire and deathly chill.
First we get burn and can dish significant damage with this condition. But in the next big patch this ability is almost useless again.
Now we get chill, and again we make significant additional damage. And guess the next big patch? Exactly it is again fully rationalized away.

I’m sorry, but I am very disappointed by this way of balancing. If I create something that is to strong, but good, then I dont remove it, I just gently reduce its strength… Do you really wnat the ncormancer in gw2 or is it just something left over from gw1? Since the release of gw2 it is an up and down of hopelessness… I can not say anything else there. How about discreet adjustments that increase the variety instead of eliminating things that work a little bit to good? Oh yes, there was indeed something I forgot about … ArenaNet only plays warrior … Fully forgotten about that. Wait did’nt I see some changes to stability? ;-)

I also wish to express my frustration about this change.
1) Even without this change in the price of gold and the deliverables workload would surely more than adequate.
2) It is simply unfair to new players.
3) It is unfair to players who are working on their armor for a long time. My girlfriend has now been working for nearly a year on her first piece of armor. What is one to say, if, after so much work suddenly the recipe is more complicated? This su**s.. I had to help here, or she would never finish… And what about the rest of the armor? This is really no longer enjoyable for the average player.
I have a feeling that it’s all about gold, gems and real money in GW2. For me you have betrayed your moral core values. GW1 was great, GW2 from my pov is in so mayn parts only a money-making machine.
3) The entire ecosystem with this mass of materials is just exhausting. Quality rather than quantity! Where is the reference to reality? Sometimes, less is more…

Hey there,

I’m very sad about your changes related to the sigil of battle. I use this sigil in many different weapons. I play as a necromancer and it is often the absolut only source of just 3 (now 2 -.-) might I have. So I think this change was very very inappropriate… If you want to nerf knights or guardians, then do it only for those classes or at what ever point you think it was to powerful. In my opinion the sigil was the absolut wrong way to do it… It was usable for absolut any class and it was just fine..! I think I will replace it now…

Please integrate a way to change stats… Make it expensive, but make it cheaper than crafting…

1 form 4 chests i got so far was useful, the other three are just eating up my bank space… I dont know what to do with them. It’s ver very frustating to see that you where lucky and get an ascended chest, but then you take a look at the stats and you notice, that this is just not what you need nor want… reward should be rewarding – always, this is the absolute oposite (for me in 1 of 4 cases)..

I have spend a lot of time (and gold) to get both potions. I had not much time for guildwars, so I first did not notice, but that the elite lich and plague tranformation remove the buff is just ridiculous! It makes it pretty useless. In PvE I frequently tranform to lich and in WvW I even more frequently transform to plague (mostly because of stability). That is just [censored word]… If that is not fixed and if the halo is not moved closer to the players head, I would be realy frustrated… Is content over quality really the way you want to keep the game alive? At least for me this is not working….!

I really would like to see both potions to be more close to the head on human characters, especially if the head armor is hidden.
This may not be as problematic as the things I saw on the pictures here, but I’m (again) very disapointed, that it seems to be more about to generate as much content as possible, then to offer high quality content.

Hey, even though we outnumber the enemy group 3-1 they’ve downed more than half of us in one push; what do we do?! Banner Res!

Yeah, just count the banners and there’s your answer.

There are other skills from other classes that revive falled allies or NPC’s (keep lord). Necromancer has Signet of Undeath. Elementalist has Glyph of Renewal, Engineer has Toss Elixir R, Ranger has Nature’s Renewal via Spirit of Nature, ect. The Warrior Battle Standard however, is the most obvious and easily recognizable skill of these, specially in a big zerg fight. Now the Battle Standard is on average used more than the others, but its not the only revive skill out there used.

After hearing various times about that myth I could finally test it today and I’m hundret percent sure that “Signet of Undeath” is not working on keep lords… How is that fair? There were two people taking the kitten keep and I could not revive the lord as a light class. But a op warrior with heavy armor possibly could? How is that even a little bit fair…!?

1) Watch for your possion. :-P
2) Just dont use a single fear ;-) See also 4.
3) Learn what the other classes can / cannot do and plan your fear(s). While other have just one fear we have a lot of them.
4) While we have no stability we have various sources that can turn stability of the enemy in a condition. Do you know what condition stability becomes? Yeah it’s a fear. So dont cry, skill for fear+corruption and have fun! At least that’s what I have atm. May change when those pve players leave and stun warriors take over…. ^^

I kept on trying to buy Pile of crystalline dust earlier but TP was bugged, so now i opened it and i keep slowly getting a lot of it because of the many times i clicked before that and it keeps draining my gold and i cant retract my bid, any suggestions?

With necromancer, we’re changing the way that Dhuumfire is activated – allowing players the opportunity to react. This will also allow the necromancer to carefully plan their burning application.

Thats such a heavy condition dmg nerf.. Very sad that there is absolutly no compensation… I myself only play wvw/pve and I cannot understand that. Seems like it is time to run away again and hope for the next patch… A little bit damage reduction would have been enough, but forcing us into DS… That’s not how you achieve diversity. There is probably no worse solution than DS. I’m so unhappy… “Carefully plan”? You ever played a nec against a warrior, thief, mesmer, guardian ? Very funny joke… I can understand the argument and idea, but from my pov that’s simply not how the meta in reality is! :/ I’m very very unhappy with what you have (not) done to my main class since gw1 – nothing more to say.

A very nice setup you have there ! Unfortunately I don’t own a PC xbox controller nor a cable to plug my regular controllers.

The price involved for a configuration that is not necessarily often wanted because of the keyboard being required to chat anyway is really a killer though Isn’t there a freeware able to map controls for this to work ?

Well first you need a gamepad, the more buttons the better ^^ Most ppl own a xbox and ps3 pad, like me, so I startetd working with a ps3 pad. Later I bought a xbox pad, because it is so much more ergonomic (for my profile/handsize)! ;-) And yes you cannot live without a keyboard – I myself have always a keyboard in range, but I prefer voive over ip if possible. Also a mouse is a good thing to have too.
In my link @wiki there is a list of free solutions. It is about a year old, so I do not know how usefull those stuff is, but yeah there are indeed a lot of free solutions available. If the wiki does not help, then google will find a lot! However I prefer the paid solution. When I started working on that profile I first tried to use free software, like xpadder. But xpadder is one of the worst programms I have ever seen as software developer and in addition it does not allow to create such a complex profile like I was able with pinnacle. (also it is no longer freeware) I could get into details, but belive me, unfortunatly there are things only pinncale can do. For the basic gamplay a free software is enough for sure, but since I nearly only play with gamepad I was looking for the best I could get.

Just watched some videos to find out how effective Duuhmfire deals damage and from my opinion this is a very massive nerf! At least if that’s all that is changed. DS is not reliabale, it’s very slow and easy to evade and you dont always want to or can use it…. It may not be that skillfull, but is it skillfull if you are forced to use F1+1? And what’s about build diversity? Duuhmfire can be triggered by nearly every skill we have… To take the DS way was such a bad decision… There was a thread full of suggestions what you could have done…. Necro is now pretty much where it was short after the game release, I would say it has even gotten worse through what you have been done (or not?) to this class…

It is GREAT NEWS that Dhuumfire is nerfed to the ground. Now perhaps our whole profession won’t have to balance around Dhuumfire anymore.

I support any kind of nerf against Dhuumfire. In fact this whole trait should be deleted from the game altogether and be forever forgotten alongside the Forgottens.

How is it great news that it is now completly useless? Nerfing does not mean make it so bad no-one would ever want to trait for it.

Because Dhuumfire should never have existed in the first place. It is universally hated by both necro and non-necros alike. Necros hated it because they knew it would cause tons of nerfs to other skills, and those nerfs did come as expected. Non-necros hated it because it was too high damage, and it was.

Lore wise it also made zero sense. Why would Dhuumfire suddenly become a good guy and start helping the good side?

Nevermind the nerfs to Dhuumfire. I will be happier if they just delete this whole trait and replace it with something totally different.

‘I dont think so. I like every additional condition I can put on my target. It covers the other conditions. So I cannot agree. I also dont think this is too strong for current wvw meta – it’s pretty balanced from my pov. But making it bound to DS, LF and GM is not acceptable… And who cares about pve? I think and feel like all those changes necros receive are pretty much entirely related to spvp – well I NEVER play spvp! Thanks anet…

Its great beacuse every other nerf happened in the past half year happened because of this trait. Now its almost totally out of the picture, the necro can get some love.
Tbh im not against a spike / high damage spec, but the low damage “attrition” style would be welcomed now …

It is telling me to move on to something else,I have lost all hope with the balance team.Each update is getting worse and we still have skills that have been broke from day one.

sad but true – with every new patch or these so-called balance updates i give up a little bit of my hope! meanwhile i’m not even sure i have any more hope left… it’s like one good patch is covered by 2,3 nerf patches.

And they ll going to nerf the duuhmfire. because is “not skillful” and you need to deal with thief spamming #2 and endless stealth.

I am too kittened off with the pseudo balance team. Actually i paid for this game and their work, sorry guys if i hurts your feelings, is awful, you are losing players every day.

And, know what? the reason for the community get angry is because in every patch and preview you show a complete IGNORANCE about your OWN GAME’S professions. That is what the people hate most.

This is the most unbalanced game i ever played.

I totally agree with you. If this is not “skillful” then I want them to define “skillful”.
While thieves are facerolling ppl with only one button, one 2s burning trait is not skillful. Just L O L.
There’s only 2 kind of thieves: 5 2 2 2 thieves and 3 3 3 thieves. spam skill 3 with your s/d to win.
What about warriors ? Spam hammer ccs with enormous damage and faceroll your opponent into the ground.
And dhuumfire is not skillful…

the “skillfull” argument is such a joke when you compare nec with nearly every other class…

Thanks for another patch that makes quite clear that (a) you dont play nec (except pvp it seems) (b) you dont like nec © you dont have a plan for necs.

From my pov the dhumfire trait is now pretty much useless… At least I wont use it after those changes. Thanks! Loosing more an more the faith in the game and the devs… There were only two good patches for nec since release, one was the introduction of dhumfire…. It may not be very skillfull, but it was usefull, because you could use it for loot of builds and playstyles – but now you are forced to use DS….

“It’s not skillful” applies to so many other classes so much more than to us r.ip. dhumfire necs!

I’m very disappointed when I recap the last years changes… I had a lot of faith, but I lost pretty much everything.

Greater marks for 20 was a huge nerf from my pov too… The new mark size does not help…

However I would not say it is the current patch or changes to the necromancer that where made with this patch. Its more the complete package. Changes to other classes making it really hard to play nec and feel good. If the person know what he does many classes are simply a lot on top of the nec. As also it is the main problem that exists since relase – the nec is one of the worst classes in the game. There is nearly no diversity and any good things they implement get nerfed pretty fast and hard without providing new (good) stuff. I feel more and more useless if I compare nec to other classes and if I think about what choises I really have when it comes to traits and so on. That’s the problem and that’s why everyone is upset…

All I can say is that Anet really has no clue on building up this Necromancer class.

I share that feeling. First I had faith in anet and there were some nice thing changed and improved, but when you read the dev posts – I’m glad you guys post here – you can read between the lines and I dont think there is a plan or vision for this class. It feels like a leftover from the first gw ;-( I doubt that there will be diversity any time soon. Maybe in 1-2 years, but right now it’s up and down – like the stock markets :/ at least I have more faith in anets balancing team than in traders ^^

I would not call it “quality” to kill dolyaks. theoretically 3 points for one yak twice a tick. Hell that is a lot.. I mean there is not even a player based reward for protecting them… beside it’s pretty hard to protect them if the player/group is really only focused of killing the yak…

even to always hold ruins is not really quality, in fact its (currently) pretty easy… it should go without saying. most players from riverside are not capable to do this, oddly especially at primetime… owned by small-scale I would say. until some hours ago we were in front when it comes to ppt, even if it was always very small amount after your first monday morning raid.
i think anet has done a very bad job in communicating the not per tick points. you hit B and you see the tick. you dont see the hidden score anywhere explicit in the game and especially not broken down! what are they thinking? also bloodlust is not communicated very well… if there would be a big icon showing which side has it, I bet player would react pretty fast. but it’s a text in a place where you are used to see always pop up events, so you simply ignore it – a well know fact in human computer interaction. but that’s nothing which I would be surprised about, the whole game is a nightmare from usability perspective. Now – after one kitten year we got rarity displayed as a color frame around the iconic item representation, well now I already know all of them… but it’s a good example why anet should hire someone who understand something about user interface design :/ from a usability engineering view the game is just very horrible. i could add up a long list here… i even wrote anet regarding UE while in beta state, but yeah, i guess it was lost in the noise. probably no one official except the delete bot will ever read this text, but I don’t give up hope – i still want to like the game, but sometimes….

Pact Weapons bugged!?

I just got my Pact Paper Trident. I put the skin over my existing exotic trident and now have to buy another exotic and transmutation crystal to get rid of the pathetic pact skin. If I turn sideways it almost vanishes. That’s something I’d expect in games from years ago not one from 2012-13

Won’t be going out of my way to kill Zhaitan on my alt’s to get more Pact skins that’s for sure.

btw: all pikeneers that think SFR and RS are doubleteaming us: SFR instead is affraid of RS and their AC’s

It’s not just an impression, it is a certainty.

it is certain that sfr is mad at you. it is certain that rs is place two and it is only important for us to keep this place. first place would be utopia with the rs/german coverage. so if thats double teaming for you, ok. for me thats just what every server would and should do. it is pretty much the same situation that rs was in against vizu and kodasch. vizu pushed us down to place three the first few days and kodasch did everything to keep place two. just that fighting against vizu means: run, hide, leech, outnumbered golem rush (probably destroyed a stack of omega that week). very depressing week… at least you have some decend fights here – i hope ;-) and i’m pretty sure if you guys are the strongest server in a coming matchup you will let us pay for sfr behavior….

The old SFR2.0 was destroyed at that week 1 (crazy lag, AP hunters, QQ 2-3 hours, rage quitters, funny new guilds, crazy unknown commanders in WvW and so on and so on)… in last few week we have few dedicated players/commanders that are trying to rebuild our SFR again.

if they just left just because of one week, then you should be happy. no one needs ppl/guilds that give up after just one match. hell reviserside would be wasteland if our ppl/guilds would do this. so just see it as an opportunity. ;-)

Pact Weapons bugged!?

So it’s over a year now. with not a single response on this issue! Just always new carrot content: /

One patch just replaced the preview window and now the effect is no longer visible in the weapon preview, but it is still in the hero panel. I’m pretty disappointed. Those effects don’t come by itself, they must be designed by you! So why is such an issue completely ignored when it comes to fixing or a simple statement: no we won’t/cannot…?

The Rune of Resistance grants bonus toughness, a reduction in condition duration, and aegis upon using a signet

The Sigil of Momentum grants a stacking toughness buff every time you kill an enemy

So even more & stronger melee trains…? From my pov those are counterproductive for the current wvw meta..

http://gw2wvw.org/ i’m not sure if this thing tells the truth, but it is telling that both sfr and rs are focusing piken while piken is fighting both almost equally.
And focus is always focus..

And here comes the focus again… It is a capping focus. It does not tell anything about points or the battlefield focus at all. It just shows who is capping from who. And since sfr is obviously focusing you guys they capture less from rs, so rs has less to capture back from sfr. And of course is rs using it’s given opportunity, e.g. T1 stuff, wouldn’t you too? This focus thing is nearly completly useless and only leads to endless discussions, again and again and yet again…

Just report as often as possible. You cannot do anything else. This is no big guild or something, so rs has little to no possibilities to do more than you can do… However I say sorry in the name of our server, that’s not the way we want to play! We condemn this in every way!

With SFR logic we should accuse RS for helping SFR and focus RS in our next match. But I guess nobody on Piken is so brainless to accuse RS for teaming with SFR. RS is just taking the opportunity to get easy captures, which is fair enough.

SFR is nothing what Piken can’t handle, in case, it’s actually RS who seems to be way stronger then SFR, at least for now. RS will decide about lot in this match.

I am not really expecting some fair play from SFR, but I am looking forward to have some fair fights with RS at least as I believe that this server didn’t lose it’s honor.

Well as RS player I would like to “team up” in international matchups, because otherwise we cannot win the weekdays as a german server. But I can guarantee you, if it’s red it is attacked. There is no difference, it is like you say, just using every given opportunity. We have nothing to lose nor to win and we will be down to three at latest on tuesday – I would bet on that. I’m pretty curious what will happen the weekdays, because I think sfr underestimates you. They still attack a lot of our stuff instead of only increasing the gap to you. Was pretty much the same with BB last week. ;-)

Don’t count RS out that easy. They have the ability to decide who wins in an odd sense.

I don’t think that this is the case. It’s more on your hand, I think the question is, who is playing the RS card better ;-)

Sfr will just focus piken so helping riverside, like piken help vizuna win the league at first match up.

The question is who has the better coverage and who utilizes that better. Unfortunately WvW is so easy … RS will at latest go down to three after the weekend, just because of missing coverage… Welcome to the coverage vs coverage vs coverage season :-P

There’s nothing wrong with us and thiefs. Just some random people, some months ago saw how much potential thiefs had in WvW as roamers, and after recruiting a some thiefs, they created the famous ODS. A guild admired in some servers, and hated in others.

The 10th december patch seems to bean important nerf to our thief mates. But I know they will solve the problem, so prepare to see the same bunch of baruchians thiefs as always.

I personally think the stealth mechanic is one of the worst parts in this game. Of course it is fun for your thief groups, but for the others it is no more fair competition/fight, it is just annoying…

I am really interested in what riverside will choose to do at the next matchup.

*They can side with SFR, trying to get a lead on piken before monday, knowing piken’s usually weak weekend.
*They can side with Piken, trying to take a lead on SFR knowing how SFR is at it’s weakest right now, probably because many guilds left (which is pretty obvious if you see how SFR is only 10k ahead of BB right now, when Piken was around 30k ahead of BB at their matchup.)
*They can screw politics and play for fun, which would make everyone have more fun as well.

Whatever they choose, the next matchup will be really interesting

PS : Baruch keep that tick up, I still believe

We choose © like always – mostly the guilds that kitten you do. And then we suffer from both sides and half of our people is crying xD I guess in the end it is after all more on your hand to decide about that.

Serieoulsy BB – what’s your problem with thiefs…. That’s not normal. I hope thiefs get nerfed to the ground and it is only because of you BB kittens…

while rs seems to abandon their bl and only play in eb during the night/morning. Regarding next week i don’t know what will happen obviously but i would expect sfr to heavily focus piken in revenge for what happened on week 1

well we do not have the numbers to compete at night/morning. it is senseless to play outnumbered against two blobs without upgraded stuff. so we only can hold our ground on the eternals, what I think we can pretty good :-)
I have heard of the first week, I hope my server is smart enough to take its profit out of it xD we will see.

Never seen so many thiefs on a server. Never killed so many thies with my nec. Have yet not lost a one on one. Just one very goo thief was pretty close to kill me. Sadly they often run in groups, that makes it pretty unfair ^^ But at least one time one guy was waiting until I had his friend in down state xD

I’m really tired of people running away tbh. If Anet is trying to take down our burst, then they better do something about making true their claims about Necro being a hard class to escape from. Right now we aren’t even close to that and the condi burst is the only small hope to bring them down before the run.

That’s exactly my point, tried to find the dev post about that… Currently (and I dont see this changing) most classes can easily escape, if they want to, but the necro cannot. So the only way to make necros viable is to make them a hard target. As terror necro I currently just wait for my enemy to come. If he run/hide and dont want to fight I dont care. If a enemy know how to play his class it’s nearly impossible to stop him from getting away. We have indeed a lot of tools to stop or slow down an enemy, but it’s not that other classes don’t have them or can avoid them. Maybe with a special build, but whats the sense of making such a build if I cannot deal or take enough damage then.
