I like getting tomes, pvp is one of the best places to get them, over the year i convert every 37 tomes into karma boosters for wintersday.
Theres no reason to run druid if you are not a healer. GotL requires you to stop dps and go CA and at that point you might as well just be a healer since you arnt doing dps. A third of your dps is coming from your pet thanks you bleeds on crit from beast mastery along with all those other buffs to its power/crit/ferocity and they extra might you give it on crit.
I need strider’s armor set pieces for my transmog, please add to gemstore asap.
There are a couple items that i have been waiting for to hit the gemstore for months for a new transmog im working on. However the blacklion inventory rotation is horriblely slow and erratic.
My GW2 occasionally crashes when switch to razer synapse window to swap my keybind presets on my naga. Seems currently like a 1 in 5 times that it does it.
The steak with winterberry sauce food that is supposed to give a 30% magic find buff does not seem to function. The indicator on the buff/debuff bar and the stats in the hero panel do not indicate that this stat increase is occuring.
This is what i use for open world, pure glass zerker w/ smokescale cuz really for open world its rare that you actually have to adjust for the mobs. You can pretty much pewpew everything to death. If i actually do need to go defensive I just weaponswap to greatsword. Wilderness survival for condi cleanse and fury. Signet of the hunt cuz i live life in the fast lane.

Try getting a thread going on Reddit about this. That is the only place when the devs actually pay attention to the community. The only presence here are mods who’s soul purpose is to make sure we are all being good little kids and not using naughty words or being “mean” towards the higher ups. If you can get up voted over there enough they will respond because that is an outlet open to the whole internet, not just this forum that’s exclusive to the existing player base.
With our complaints combined we can summon captain balance!
All of the sword hate, and all of the 3 yrs of not changes…
My default pet of choice is smokescale, havnt used a bear in maybe a year for a champ solo. I always run full glass zerk, ranger is super survivalable in most scenarios so no reason to not go full glass in pve always.
I can agree to most of this. Wyverns were one of the flashiest cool things that came out with hot that i was most excited for. Now that the hype is over and done with we can all see that they are one of the worst overall pets you can choose other than for shattering breakbars…
Sword is not a condition weapon and never meant to be. Ppl take it because it offers short cd evades and a leap, just because it has poison application does not mean it has to get overhauled to be a condition weapon (poison is good regardless of your stats because of it’s effect).
Ranger has 4 condition based weapons: mh axe, shortbow, dagger, torch and 5 power weapons: sword, greatsword, longbow, oh axe, warhorn (ok this is a utility weapon but i am counting it as power because of hunter’s call).
Making sword more akin to hybrid builds would probably mean it gets nerfed in the power department (and anyway mh axe is suppose to be the hybrid weapon as evident by the axe trait).I understand the need for a better hybrid main hand, but if anything it should be axe that gets buffed along side shortbow, and maybe staff be the one to get a overhaul to a hybrid set.
Whilst it was never meant to be, having Sword as a hybrid would make it much more desirable, allowing it to be used with Warhorn or any of the condition based offhands without drastically nerfing many builds. (since Greatsword already offers adequate power based attacks and a gap closer)
Also, as you said, it is mainly used as an evade spam but swapping would give condi builds a viable main hand damage dealer. Right now, power users have 2.
Though Staff would be alright as a condition option, my main issue was the lack of melee-ranged condition main hand weapons and Axe only being 2/3rds of a condition weapon and is drastically missing the main 3rd component. For two-handers we do have the Shortbow so I didn’t think we’d particularly need a second when we’re missing a one hand main condition weapon.
Edit: Thinking about one of your points, poison is useful to both power and condition builds and since it now stacks intensity, having it be the addition to the Sword autoattack could be a nice compromise.
Greatsword is more of a defensive weapon with CC, blocks and evades. Its overall power dps output is far below sword
I’m not opposed to adding a main hand dagger, but really i’d rather just have sword cleaned up, mostly cuz i want to use my fiery dragon sword. Cant use that if im on dagger. Just remove the leap and it would be fine, keep the same timing, the pet might and what not, just drop the leap… I really dont get what is so hard about this…
I apologize for everyone else who has responded to you post. They spammed you with a lot of irrelevent data to your request, taljing about raids wvw and fractals. You’re probably like “what the hell is a fractal?”.
I can’t speak on behalf of warrior since i havn’t started playing one but i have much to give you in regards to ranger as that is what i main.
Starting out ranger will be an easy time as its survivability is quite high with its signets and “survival” utility type and pets. While leveling i would recommend going with a shortbow and sword or axe/axe weapon set until your sixties and go with power and condition damage stats. Take some trap utilities and quickening zephyr or lightning reflexes to get out of kitten. A bear would be a good pet to start with until you figure things out, it has high toughness and health but low dmg.
After you hit approximately lvl 60 or so you will start getting triple stats gears. At this point i would recommend switching from condition damage gear and weapon and go for the berserker stat combo which is power, precision and ferocity and grab a longbow and a greatsword. Longbow is our highest burst damage weapon and greatsword is a good power damage melee weapon with excellent defensive skills. Prior to 60 you wouldnt get that stat combo of power precision and ferocity so you wouldnt get the full benefit of using these pure power weapons which is why i recomend going with a power+condition damage set up.
Of course this is all my opinion, i would encourage you to just roll with your curiocity even if it gets you some bruises along the way and dont sacrifice your enjoyment of the game for what is “meta”. As you play the game you’ll run into people who preach about the meta as if it were the word of some heavenly being and they were its prophet.
I generally run warhorn off hand unless im in a situatuon that calls for axe 5 reflects or the pull on axe 4
Anet be like ok lets fix ranger longsword bah to much work lets just say it works like “INTENDED” ok lets look on druids base healing and lets nerf it
“intended” being the most wonky clunky weapon in the game…
Hell, just by doing rolling restarts on the server every week or 2 during a period when the player base in at its least active hour would probably fix a lot of these types of issues simply by refreshing the server’s memory.
Always whenever I see something clearly broken. Yet certain things, despite however many times I report them, go unfixed week after week and month after month and year after year…
Same reason I haven’t re-aligned the two chairs that make up my ‘sofa’ even though it constantly bugs me that they’re not in line, and I haven’t put away the small stack of odd bits of paper that all need to go into different drawers.
It actually takes more effort than you might assume (unless you’re familiar with programming for the games proprietary engine?) and there are much better things that can be done with that time. Like fixing bugs that cause server crashes or exploits or block events.
Except they rarely fix bugged events either unless its related to content that is in the spotlight. There are 2 particular events that sticks out in my mind, one in cursed short near anchorage waypoint that is always frozen the exact same way. I don’t think i have ever actually seen that event not frozen. The other is the pact dolyak that goes from the starting point in silverwastes north to indigo cave. That poor dolyak spends hours just standing in the same spot every metaevent turnover stuck in a dazed animation.
Eh im ok with the price, i bought 2, 1 for my copperfed salvage o matic and 1 for my silverfed. I feel everyone in this thread is being excessively whiny over a simple quality of life item only recently added to the game for a gem price, you made it 3 years through this game without these, if you dont want to buy it because you have a problem with the price then dont. Yes they want to make money off them, thats the point of the gem store, things show up in it for the purpose of anet making money. Sure i like many of us have my personal gripes with the way anet does things, i however think that many of you are wasting time complaining about something that isnt really a problem, there are far better places and things for you to complain about like balance and bugs.

I wish we could get some confirmation that anet is specifically addressing this community wide agreed upon problem with the upcoming rebalancing and whatnot….
An entire world with no mounts for player NOR NPC’s is just too unrealistic.
Should I mention that some mobs in HoT have mounts?
Theory debunked. Mounts exist.
In all serious though, this horse has been beaten into the ground so many times we should have held a funeral 50 times over by now. Mounts are not needed. Waypoints exist for FTM (faster than mount) travel. There are various methods of gaining speed boosts already in the game to help you get those waypoints unlocked.
Mounts do exist in the form of cosmetic toys. Magic carpet, broomstick. Not many, but a couple.
Now go eat some pie.
Just because this game doesn’t need something doesn’t mean it wouldn’t be a desirable addition that people would pay money for.
However… instead of adding things people want Anet will give you what it thinks you want without listening to you and will then break the game in the process.

90% of the entertainment is twitch chat, 10% is the casters trying desperately to make the game interesting.
I just found my new signature until this kitten is fixed.
Ditto
Sounds like it will be a long and drawn out year for profession development.
More trait changes.
No fundamental weapon changes (looking at you sword, off hand axe, dagger, shortbow).
No meaningful pet changes in mind after 3 FULL years because they are STILL “exploring ways to improve”? Rangers will remain leashed by their gimmicky pets, not vice versa.
Druid/CA will end up being number tweaks (see trait “updates” over 3 years), not the necessary core changes to make this elite better. It will remain a subpar and mashed up and gated healer with aiming reticles design, that players still won’t know what it is supposed to be, and that will do nothing except promote the “super self healing and poor damage” bunker for years to come.
(I would have loved the super zerg and team healer as promised, but thanks at least for all the new self heals and thank goodness for elementalist staff/water/tempest to get that healing role urge satisfied… and it’s not even that great either, but way way better than Druid/CA)
long year. Lots of the same old. Little substance. More clunky healing. Pets on passive (because that’s the closest thing a player can do to get rid of them). LB,GS,Staff… “me me me” bunker… Load up another useful profession for that particular task… MORE waiting. MORE talk. More gimmicks coming to pass.
Ill will agree with you to the point that many of their adjustments are weak or straight up weaken us further. However i would give credit when it is due. Its took 3 years but the made pets viable in highend content when before they would die. That was a meaningful improvement. They are planning to make shouts a useful and desirable utility, this is nice. I can only hope they will boost up our sustained ranged dps with longbow and make sword AA a nonsuicidal option.
I wish wish i could upvote this whole post a few hundred more times
Im not in disagreement with you, it would be nice, but i know anet and these changes aint gonna happen anytime soon if ever. Since we get good fixes at an average of once every 3 years, we wont see a good set of fixes till fall of 2018. I am more keen on getting changes to sword AA, underwhelming pet intelligence and AAs, and a few other wonky mechanics, minors on Marks are of less concern to me.
Well in regards to might cap, if the issue is that theres an excess of it, then classes such as rev who are pushing out all of it on their own then they need to be brought down a peg so that we need to depend on more individuals sharing buffs. As for camping longbow there are situations where thats the best option when going into melee is suicide. Myself i constant dip in and of of melee and ranged with Lb/SW in raids and highend fractals.
Changes like these would be alright, not necessary. I take marks for clarion bond, steady focus, and read the wind
Do to the recent interest in the favorable winds guild post and players wishing to join an in game community centered around discussion of the ranger profession i opened a new guild as the latter seems to have died out. Message/mail me in game for invitations. I am looking for individuals particularly experienced in the aspects of high end fractals, raids, wvw, and spvp for key spots who enjoy sharing their knowledge and experiences with newer players.

I myself am a high ranking member of my current guild and have responsibilties unto to it. For myself this is a side project in regards to my love of the ranger profession. The purpose of this guild is to offer a community to share information in regards to the ranger profession. This guild is not aimed for building guild levels/halls. It is to function as a secondary home from your primary guild for where you can hone your skills as a ranger to be a better asset to your primary guild, pvp/wvw team, etc.
If you are interested, reply here or pm/mail me in game.

The in city swiftness effect granted by this mastery track has stopped functioning with one of the most recent updates. The normal swiftness particle effects are still there, but the actual function of moving faster is no longer working. Please fix this.
