Makes total sense so I’ll be looking to run my alt through, just a few vinewrath events tonight I already have two boxes ready to go for the alt and a little over 1k crests so I should be able to get the set easily enough.

You guys are awesome and I’m having a blast and am glad that I’ve returned. Now to find a fun guild!

You guys are awesome and I appreciate it! I finally got it done once last night joining a map as suggested right before the breach, then did it twice more later helping from beginning to end once I had my feet wet ankitten ow having a blast running around, exploring, and looting everything. I realized last night the power of taking the time to do the escorts, makes that bar rise up really fast then the rest just felt like a loot train through the breach and the event.

Thanks again for the tips guys, though one more question.

I managed to get every piece of carapace armor for my guardian (yay!) simply through completing the entirety of the living story and a glove box out of a bandit chest, I was curious, if I take an alt through season 2 of the living story do they get all the rewards that my first toon did?

That explains perfectly what I was looking for and is pretty much how I had THOUGHT that it went doing what research I could. Clear and concise, and gives me something to look forward to on how to do it, so here’s to going and jumping in and getting it done! Thank you so much for the breakdown.

Hey Guys,

Recently returned and working my way through the end of living story season two, been running around drytop and silverwastes exploring, trying to figure out the events and what to go for, and the only thing I don’t seem to have a handle on, is the Mordrem Vinewrath event. I know you can get a coat from it and its tied into some collection tracks for luminescent gear, and its triggered at the end of a meta event, but that event never seems to pop.

Playing on Jade Quarry, everytime I head to the silverwastes, while spending a couple of hours running around, I see we get 4/4 forts owned but we never get past 2 or 3/4 “first level defenses activated”. Basically, I have no clue what happens after the ‘foothold’ part of the event, what the ‘breach’ event is, or how to get to the mordrem vinewrath event.

I know guesting is pretty much not needed now because of the mega-servers, but is it as simple as going to LFG and seeing what groups and maps might have high percentages complete? What do you look for? I tried joining one group that said “@ vinewrath” figuring they were about to get there, joined the group, tried to go to their map when I clicked on the leader and it told me the world was full.

Is it just persistence or am I missing something on how to find maps where they’re progressing through the events? Even if I did it just once would love to see it and complete it for the first time rewards.

Any tips would be awesome, thank you.

Definitely not worried about soloing everything, though I don’t remember things being too tough on the way to 80 anyways prior, though I know some things have changed. I’ll keep an eye out on the edge of the mists as well and see how that works out. Is there any benefit to doing EotM compared to the regular WvW maps?

Returning Player Questions

Hey Guys,

Returning player here, haven’t played since right before the end of LS 1 Lions’ Arch decimation (sad I missed it, actually) but LS2 has me intrigued and excited, though I’m starting pretty much over from scratch with a new character. Questions are by the time that I level to 80 and work on crafting and whatever else I can do/afford while trying to catch up to the LS (was at least smart enough to log in and unlock this seasons episodes so far) is it going to be too much of a slog and not worth getting back into? Will I be behind or can you really be ‘behind’ much in this game that doesn’t really have any gear creep? (save for cosmetic stuff that may or may not be obtainable anymore and the grind up to ascended gear?)

Playing some other games reminded me of my joy for this one, even though it never initially grabbed me the same way the original guild wars did, I’m excited to see where they take it and hope like others to continue seeing more areas and things that we all remember from the original game that made it awesome. Any tips for good easy leveling and getting geared up to catch up on the content?

Game Updates: Traits

Please do not create duplicate posts, as it makes it more difficult for us to gather your feedback in a timely and organized manner. Thank you for your understanding.

I made the mistake somehow of missing this thread and thankfully was pointed here but while knowing you guys have alot going on, season 2 starting, a bunch of changes in the works, I have to ask myself as a returning player, seeing this thread 2 months old and 30 pages deep, what size sample of feedback you need before realizing the players believe there is an issue.

I’m a returning player, that had thought long ago about rerolling (having not settled on any one thing playing through season 1 on multiple toons and enjoying them) that came back without an 80, yet I’ve been playing since day 1 headstart. Not an issue. I knew traits were unlocked now at 30, 60, and 80 from skimming the patch notes and had apparently missed the whole part about the trait books and having to unlock them now.

No big deal, my bad. I’ll work around it, but then as I thought about it, and looked up the requirements for these things, I started thinking to myself holy kitten, that gold REALLY adds up, as well as all of the skillpoints necessary to unlock them, I’m going to have to cherry pick my way through and pray I can get some of these world quests done. I love doing some wvw on the side and pve so no big deal having to play the game, except for the actual tasks themselves.

Sign me up for wishing they were more generic. I remember fondly elite hunting in Guild Wars 1 and see this is as a pretty kitten-poor nod to that.

Personally, I agree with alot of the others that this really kills the ‘play it your way’ mentality that you guys were going for. Love the revamps of the trees, love the concept of the new unlocking tiers at certain levels, that’s fine, love the free talent respecs (thank you, great idea) and other things, hate the skill point thing. It wouldn’t be so bad if A) it didn’t cost a fortune and B.) the actual unlocking didn’t require small armies and vast amounts of luck to get groups for at the best of times.

I’ll get through it of course, but only because I’m a returning player with some time and some capital saved up from when I played the TP before I left. That said, its a little daunting if I can’t get world unlocks to think about having to spend money I could have geared myself out with and built some crafting on along the way to fill in gaps for skills instead.

[bold]In any case, in the feedback and suggestion category. I would:[/bold]

Leave the tier unlocks at the levels they are, leave the new point allocation system (much better and less hassle) and take acquiring traits back to how you did them before, give trait points at certain levels and just let us put them where we want. That’s freedom. It is going to be far more frustrating for the new player or the person leveling an alt that is cherry picking their abilities because of being unable to get certain skills to be locked out of missing that ‘one’ that they feel they need to level properly along the way because they just can’t get it.

Perhaps I should have clarified, though thank you for the wiki, that definitely helps and I’ve poured over the release page. I guess my question was do you have to pay gold and skill points or defeat champs/wvw all over the world in order to get your traits, which you answered that you do.

I’m just baffled why they went this route when you’re already waiting until level 30 to unlock the tier in the first place. The cost of them or the thought of finding groups for these champs and mini dungeons in low level zones just seems a little off balanced but I could be wrong. Gold and skill points will add up over time, we’ll see where we’re at come level 30 because I’m assuming buying the skill books to unlock them early doesn’t matter because you can’t use them until you unlock the tier at 30 just like unlocking the tier at 30 does nothing if you don’t buy/unlock the traits.

I might have failed at the search but figured I would ask anyways.

I’m just returning to the game after having stopped right before the battle of lion’s arch, am rerolling, starting fresh.

I realize trait ‘tiers’ are opened now at 30,60, and 80 respectively, no big deal.

However I swing by a trainer just because I noticed the book over their head and see trait books. This is where it gets a little confusing and maybe I’m just not wrapping my head around this at 3 in the morning.

So not only do I have to wait for level 30 to even unlock the adept tier traits, but then I have to buy or travel the world for objective quests the actual skills themselves to be able to put points in each line? (no big deal except the capturing wvw objectives which I don’t get, would probably be faster depending on the server to just buy it).

Am I missing something? Or did this just get completely confusing because I’m back at like day one. In the long run I suppose it won’t be that bad however to unlock ALL OF THEM (probably not feasible right away on a new character) it would require a crapton of skill points and gold, though If I am wrapping my brain around this right you would just cherry pick the skill books out of each line that you’re going to use and worry about buying the rest later.

This seems very counter-intuitive to how it used to be for fresh characters to experiment on builds with.

Apologies, its three days later tonight, and it was posted more in concern of lack of contact that it was received beyond initially and passed on. I have no clue if it is even being looked at yet, may main concern was that I had thought I had the issue figured out and had emailed such in follow-up, then immediately followed up again realizing I hadn’t, so I wanted to ensure the ticket was not cancelled. Thank you Gaile, and to your team for your hard work.

For whatever reason wouldn’t let me quote that post earlier in this thread about a theory calling out time travel, but I’m going with another theory from reddit, That she’s Omadd’s daughter. Would explain the fanatical fascination with Scarlet in a myriad of ways. If its been said before or dis-proven already, I’ll retract, but she is an orphan and Omadd, well, we know what happened there.

For what its worth, I noticed that it seems to happen on the arms, and when I removed the “Radiant Vambraces” skin, it stopped doing it. Also happens when I’m stealthed, definitely an issue with the skin itself. Everything is fine with a different pair of gloves equipped or when I turn them off.

Character Model Quality, the choice that you set for how many high-quality characters can be rendered on the screen at once is the slider that fixes it. Setting that to “lowest” fixes it. Doesn’t seem to mess with npc’s or monsters graphically on the screen so I can’t tell any differences on having it set to lowest. No clue if that will change when I get into a place like LA or WvW. Going to test that out.

I just starting noticing this a couple of days ago on my mesmer and it only happens on Illusions (clones don’t seem to produce this effect). Maybe I never noticed it before, however it doesn’t seem right. I’ve messed with all of my settings and have been playing with this hardware on multiple characters for a couple of months since coming back to the game with no issue.

The “glitch” seems to be squares that appear about the arms, that rotate over and over and show my characters face inside of it. Or maybe its not a glitch?

So she IS crazy?

in The Origins of Madness

dephyrius.4089

I’m wanting to believe she is truly kitten crazy, whether by her own doing, because of what she saw, or who’s controlling her (or who she’s aligned with, if anyone) . I’m willing to give a-net this last benefit of the doubt to come through on their hype about it ‘rocking tyria to its core’ and ‘changing the face of tyria’ forever. Maybe I’m just too willing (or hopeful, last ditch effort) to buy into Colin’s hype about it turning into something ‘big’ but the fact its supposed to end leading into the next living story gives me a glimmer of hope.

I’m still leaning towards another Elder Dragon Influence tie-in or Mursaat/Laz

Giant Clockwork

dephyrius.4089

Of course, now that I go back and read it, they do say its a super-weapon that she’s testing, and we need to disrupt its testing ’cycle’s’, however seeing as there are ‘thumpers’ still there on the pads, I’m leaning towards that all being interconnected, though I need to think more about the whole of her army being there and testing this weapon.

And just wth is holding it up. Obvious airship is obvious, but who and what is powering and holding it up.

Argh. Back to leveling and thinking.

Giant Clockwork

in The Origins of Madness

Posted by: dephyrius.4089

dephyrius.4089

I’m not so sure about that. There’s a few interesting ‘theories’ running around, however I agree with what someone else said in another thread after looking over the video again and again, it looks like she’s ‘stepping’ on the ‘plates’ that are aligned in a semi-circle. The 5 pinkish “discs” seem to “resonate” when the marionette steps on them.

My personal theory, at least for the marionette, is that its not necessarily a ‘weapon’, but another form of giant ‘drum’, fashioned from the technology that she’s already played around with. She’s a madwoman, I think its kooky enough and suits her.

From what I gathered from the interview with massively about this first patch, the Jungle Wyrm in Bloodtide brought about was a ‘byproduct’ of these thumpers, not the true intention. I think Scarlet doesn’t really give a kitten about what she brings up with it, until she finally hits the ‘spot’.

They also mention in the interview that AFTER participating in the Jungle Wyrm event, you THEN head to where she’s at in Lornar’s Pass.

My personal theory is because the thumpers are beginning to bring things up (aka the Jungle Wyrm) she realizes to herself that she might need more juice, hence the Marionette.

What that SOMETHING is, aka the ‘secret down below’ (if its all inter-connected, which I think it is), who knows. But that’s my theory on the Marionette and where this is all leading.

As to WHY she’s doing this, what her end-game is, and just what in the kitten she’s searching for, I haven’t a clue, but I’m starting to lean on a few theories. I’m going to reserve them for another thread and for when we get closer to the patch (or into the patch to see what pans out storyline wise).

Sorry for the Rant beyond the Marionette, this has been playing in my mind all day.

So it is just for varying stat combinations then, there is no need for a certain amount of ‘offensively slotted infusions’ compared to defensive ones, its simply down to how you prefer to mix and match stats. Very cool (though correct me if I’m wrong LOL) I appreciate the answer Robert!

Perhaps I missed this in the presentation or just haven’t looked into things in the right way, but I’m curious what the difference is between “offensive” and “defensive” infusion slots are. If all of the infusions are a + to agony resistance I don’t understand why they’re labeled differently instead of just being an ‘infusion’ slot in general. Something that goes into an ‘offensive’ slot to Me suggests a boost to damage and unless I’ve missed that I don’t think that is the case.

Perhaps my brain just hasn’t recovered from this weekends events yet and farming the new dungeon but if anyone has any answers that’d be cool. Thanks in advance.
