Well I am on an old laptop. However my FPS is still messed up, down by about 40%.
Since this was claimed to be fixed, I have noticed that the FPS rather than being fairly stable now fluctuates wildly from totally unplayable (2!) to 30-40, even in same areas.
I know I need to update the laptop for a new one but prior to the patch I had no issues with FPS (was always 30 plus except in massive wvw zergs).
GeForce 9600M GT – (DxDiag finds no issues with display adapter)
I know some are concerned about whether ArenaNet is communicating with you and listening and responding to your feedback. As you saw with yesterday’s announcement, we do. All of us at ArenaNet play the game with you, chat with you and read your forum posts, and work on the things that we think will most delight and entertain you.
See you in-game,
Mike O’Brien
and what delight and entertainment are we supposed to take from this latest “feature patch”?
The first 15 levels suck for an experienced player, or at least they’re more limited. You also get through them in under an hour, or I did anyway.
That’s fast. I created a new thief and got to level 10 in 2 hours, 5 minutes. Even that seemed ridiculously fast to me.
I had a guardian get from 2 to 5 in Queensdale in 20 mins; it included time to post on the forums and getting a fresh mug of coffee. Obviously that’s not to level 10 but the first handful of levels are now really fast. May depend on profession and/or hour.
and you learned what about the skill sets or profession in those 5 levels?
Nothing! I wasn’t paying attention that aspect since I already know them. I was more interested in what was available to characters at a starting level. So it also included a trip into DR.
That was my point. The excuse given for this clusterf*(£ was that it was to help new players. My point is that if you learn ZERO about your skills, the profession, what you shouldn’t attempt as you will be downed, possibly die, how can this be the case?
Low level areas have now become a disengage brain (or just go for a coffee) and do as your told area, not a lets explore and learn area
This reminds me all too much of the famous NGE (New Game Enhancements) for Star Wars Galaxies. Now, the NPE (New Player Experience) for GW2 is just as bad.
Call it the “Noob Player Experience”, so you can shorten it to NoPE.
I concur m’lud
Shout it loud and clear- just say NoPE!

anything good?
erm, err oh yes, it doesn’t cost me real life money to play.
L80 endgame – oh yes I can grind dungeons or run around collecting wood (ahem)
Levelling (now) nope nothing good at all (17 toons lets you know I liked levelling – not now!)

I could get to L10 in less under the old system, however it should NOT be about getting to higher levels fast but about enjoying the experience of getting there. ALL the enjoyment has been sucked out of the new areas and you learn ZERO as you level since you have no skills etc to learn
Frankly the ONLY good thing in this new “feature” pack (ahem cough cough) is the improved craft screens.
TP I find horrible now. Where before things were separated (sold selling buying etc everything is lumped in together – improvement? not for me)
My BIG bugbear though is the gating. I have 17 toons on the go of which 3 were constantly changed about just for the “fun” (remember that ANET!!!). Now after having run 2 through the new “improved” and “simplified” system for noob areas (you must have been smoking some very fine weed dev’s if you thought this was an improvement!). Put it this way. Had the noob system been in place at outset I would not have 17 toons, its doubtful I would have 2.
I have almost 5000 hrs logged in GW2. Unless they revert this area to the system that (imho) worked pretty well, I doubt I will reach many more hours.
Way to go ANET (the A is not for Arena – pick your own expletive!!). How to kill off a game in one fell swoop. No wonder so many of my guildies are back playing GW1 – even that has far less enforced hand holding.
someone at Anet seems to have decided to u turn compleytely on what GW2 was “supposed” to be about.
Instead of providing new areas, foes, content and allowing people to go and work their characters as they want to, Anet have decided we must be led by the hand and made to jump through hoop A before we are allowed anywhere near hoop B. They would prefer to spend time tweaking (badly) stuff that doesn’t need tweaking, than actually developing the game to provide the MMO that was originally promised and never really delivered!
his was the only game I spent any time in – guess what, like many others I am looking for suitable alternatives unless Anet remove the digit and fix this – fast
keep going Anet and you will have lots and lots of room for the two or three people left to wander about holding your hand
If Anet (the A seems NOT to stand for Arena – fill in your own expletive) continue on their (seemingly) chosen course for dumbing down everything and for providing no meaningful new content, they wont have a player base to upset for much longer!
IF this had been purely affecting Telenet clients, I would have hoped Telenet would have been able to check out the issue, but given others are also affected that do not use Telenet, I wont hold my breath on them being able to do anything at all.
This is NOT restricted to Telenet users but seems mainly to hit Belgian based, irrespective of provider. Checked with my guildies yesterday on the odd occasion I could log and all the Belgian based ones were having issues, those from the Netherlands, Germany, UK and some further afield didn’t seem to have the issue. Some that changed IP address managed to log, effectively conning the system into believing they were not in Belgium.
Any company that actually expects players to turn off their security software really cannot be taken seriously. In Anets case the stock answer always seems to be, it must be a problem at your end or TOTAL SILENCE!
Anet are more interested in bringing out useless tweaks and unnecessary temp content rather than fixing long-term issues.
been lots getting bumped over the weekend. Ignore the standard cop-out message
lots been getting it, various error codes, particularly Belgian based
back down this morning!
Got to play a bit yesterday between constant disconnects – spent more time trying to log on than actually playing.
logged this morning 08:30 Belgian time, got about 20 mins and same old crap as yesterday
heading to work now but will try again in the afternoon. Hopefully by then Anet will have woken up
because there seems to be an issue connecting if you are based in Belgium, irrespective of internet provider. there are a couple of threads about the issue – no response from Anet.
Given that others (eg using Belgacom), are also experiencing this issue, I think its safe to assume its a Anet issue. Silence is deafening though!
I wouldn’t have expected a response anytime soon irrespective of day or time.
Take a look through this board at how many folks have been having issues recently and how many have had a response of any kind from Anet!
I am guessing this is all caused by pre work for the new sooper update (lol) and fully expect to have lots and lots and lots of little “glitches” for weeks to come.
Slightly different error code but based in Belgium and getting the same issues.
Oh and given we have reports from people using different service providers, I guess its Anet’s end that is at fault
I am also in Belgium(telenet) and have been getting bombed out after being online for various amounts of time beforehand.
I am guessing the issue is at Anet’s end (although they are hardly likely to confirm this).
Why can’t they do the decent thing and at least tell us they are aware of the issues and are looking into it?
Oh and you think its bad today? Wait till we get the new super all at once update!
I can access the site(s) no problem, only the game server seems to be an issue
While the trading post is far from perfect, I do believe some things to be worth keeping. The auto send to lowest price for the item, IMHO, stops the rip off merchants from overinflating the worth of some item they have decided to craft irrespective of its actual worth.
I do agree with the original idea that allowing items to be posted for sale from anywhere is bad, as has been said it appears to make it a way of keeping your bags free of junk, although it would be nice to be able to pick up from anywhere, rather than needing to wait till in town to do so. What is the point, surely it wouldbe better to get that stuff gone ASAP?
Sorry guys but I know how to report. The simple fact is there is no way to report gold sellers specifically nor any way to report them when the mail you in game. You can put it as spammers in chat but given the game issues currently I doubt whether anet wil get round to checking these for a long time.
Blocking doesnt get rid of these leeches. It just means I dont see them. I want them exterminated before they ruin the game like they did the original GW.
Already GW2 is infested with in-game gold sellers. Not only spamming chat but I have already received in-game mail from gold sellers offering their wares.
Why is there no DIRECT way to report gold selling in chat or mail? All we can do it put in report about spamming or botting and I am sure the techies are currently looking at these closely – NOT.
I always report gold sellers but it seems reporting them as spammers leaves us open to having OUR accounts blocked for reporting too much
Give us a DIRECT option to report gold sellers so you guys can prioritise this and ban them before the ruin the experience for those of us that dont want to cheat our way through games.
