it’s NOT because of you! generally, when you lose it’s NOT because of you!

there are always exceptions to generalization.

Individual player skill ALWAYS matters, just not as much as we’d all like to believe

There are more factors contributing to win/loss than just player skill in GW2 pvp: luck, lag, ping, computer, camera angles, timing, combos = fields/finishers, amulets, team mates actions, opponents players actions, appropriate build for specific situation, appropriate weapons for specific situation, appropriate runes/sigils/ etc…

the current ranked arena vaguely reminds me of GW1 Random Arena (with new option for duoq). If you get the right TEAM comp, then your TEAM has a better chance of winning

A locker that operates like the finishers in the hero panel. Can even put a cap on qty of “non-permanent” tonics to “sustain” a tp market. Although to be fair, tp already has very little demand (triple digit or less) for over 1/2 the tonics listed….

At with a locker, the tonics might get used since all toons on the acct would have instant access

how big was your season 2 losing streak?

doomfodder.2906

So like many other Pvp’ers, I’m a dragon & play the meta for all 9 classes. 1st season, I started about 2 weeks late & I managed to get to ruby after 60-70 matches (only playin 3-4 per day)

2nd season was a DIFFERENT story. I started the 1st day & after about 100 matches I was finally at the last tier of emerald. It got to the point where it seemed like I was only winning 1 in 10 or so. I figured my estimates MUST be wrong. So, I decided after my 2nd 15 game losing streak in that last tier of emerald, that I would track my matches score differential. My estimates were clearly off because I did win 12 of my last 65 matches & never made it out of 1st tier sapphire. Biggest losing streak was only 23 matches. Almost ½ of those 65 matches, my team lost by minimum of 250

Not that it really matters but, in those last 65 matches, I had the team high score only 28 times. Unless matchmaking changes next season, I REALLY feel sorry for everyone that gets randomly teamed up with me next season

yellow area were wins, red was losses

Looking at the buy/sell charts, seems like it dropped down to 30g sell price close to end of March but for some reason climbed right back up.

I think the spike to which you referred is because the supply dropped to qty = 2 on May 10 2015. I suspect that it’s possible for TP price to decrease to something less than a 1/2 stack of ectoplasm if supply ever gets to mid double digits…

oh if only that were entirely true… I’ve done this event 4-5 times per week in the 7 months since this was originally posted = no drop = still very rare + TP price increased 20%.

Scrolls of Knowledge leaving the game?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

the skill scrolls yeah doesn’t matter if you consume now or not. Another thing to note thoguh is the tomes of knowledge, these will NOT be usable by characters at lvl 80 anymore(this was officially said in a dev video (forgot which exactly though, think it might have been the 4h one that went over all the core class changes)), so you should not save anymore of these than you plan to actually use to lvl up any new characters you make, if you have more than you need, it would be best to use them now on your maxed chars, so as to convert them to skill points and thus get the new currency out of those as well.
While i dont remember them saying it specifically about writs too, i kinda assume the same would apply there, and thus you can do the same for them, only save any you need to lvl chars

can anyone else confirm tomes of knowledge being unusable by 80’s after the new system is implemented? I’d h8 to lose all those unused skill points stacked inside the tomes…

remove hotjoin rewards

in PvP

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

I know this sounds like an Obamacare type of idea/solution but….

If the intent is to remove “dailies & wins farmers” from a competitive format, why not just create a new format (pvp tab) ONLY for “dailies & wins farmers” with no difference in rewards. In that way, why would anyone interested in a farm pollute a hotjoin/solo/team venue by joining? Those “real” PvP venues would then VERY LIKELY become more “pristine” (although predictably less populated by a statistically significant amount)

Can we get a tab for World bosses on LFG?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

/agree

as long as we’re asking for LFG tabs…

1) any chance for temple events tab?

2) any chance for a collections event tab? it’s extremely rare to find an Eye event, or Dwayna Event, and very uncommon to find Commisar Event, or Foulbear event.

as an aside, I suspect when new collections are added, this collections tab would likely grow. On the flip side to the potential of more people participating in collections items events, those “low supply collections items” might actually drop in price to a point where someone that doesn’t have 10’s to 100’s of gold sitting around can actually afford to buy one/some.

Blodstone/Empyreal/Dragonite stacks problem.

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

There’s only a problem because you are creating one. Stop hoarding items that you can farm 1000 of in 20 minutes. Problem fixed.

Inventory Management is ALWAYS a problem….

however, it seems like the recommendation above is: If you can’t use it right away, then delete some of the rewards (ascended mats) received from completing game content…

or rephrased, assign no value to ascended mats that are readily obtained without farming in the following ways:

dungeon run = empyreal + dragonite
wvw point captures = empyreal
world bosses = bloodstone + dragonite
champs = bloodstone
jumping puzzles = empyreal

The only content (other than pve mobs that don’t drop exotic bags) that can be played (not farmed) without obtaining ascended mats (effectively deleting rewards) is PvP – and even THAT assumes that there’s no dungeon track active.

why: unlocked BL skins not in wardrobe?

TY for posting bug confirmation Joey

I have never participated in PvP, and I have several BLTC skins unlocked (that I have never equipped/destroyed/etc.) Nor were the skins/items rewarded through AP chests.

It is a bug….I do believe the Devs posted acknowledging such.

Also, are you sure such skins were obtainable in PvP? Nothing in the Wiki stating you could earn them there. I don’t remember reading such an announcement, either….

I’ve never seen any type of announcement about BL wep skins “dropping” in PvP either, I just remember opening PvP chests and being surprised with those “story related” rewards. I also recall scanning thru my PvP locker (when I was frantically trying to use up glory in the PvP Mystic Forge to increase my pending wardrobe at the time) & seeing BL wep skins there. I admit, it could be a real challenge to dig through history “builds” for ANET to confirm “my recollection”. However with that said, if you (inculpates) have some BL wep skins without “glory days” PvP, there MUST be an alternate reason & bug “seems” logical.

doomfodder.2906

I can see some BL skins in my Collections but not in my Wardrobe, but I’m not sure how I got those! I think it’s a bug that items appear in the collections but not in the wardrobe, I can’t remember if you could unlock BL skins in PVP before.

Its a bug with black lion collection achievements. Sometimes weapons unlock in the collection without owning them.

It’s hard to conclude that it’s a bug, because it could easily be an intentional design associated with the elimination of the PvP locker system. I had some BL wep skins in PvP locker prior to “merging into wardrobe system”

To those respondents that have some BL skins unlocked in collections but NOT in Wardrobe, would you confirm via reply to this post that you have or haven’t participated in PvP activities during the “glory days”.

As an aside, examples BL wep skins that could be earned via PVP rewards were Dreamthistle, Dragons Jade, & Lovestruck

yes yes yes… By far the best game I’ve ever played….

The character “build” system is SO MUCH richer in GW1 than I’ve ever seen in ANY game.

The class types in GW1 are also SO different from each other – each has SPECIFIC strengths and weaknesses – unlike the virtually vanilla class types in GW2 where each has both range & melee, fixed wep skills, any/all traits provide minimal effect on game play style/tactics in any venue, etc…

Why can’t BL wep skins that were “earned” during the PvP “glory days” (NOW unlocked in collections) be applied from the wardrobe today? These skins used to be equip-able in PvP ONLY from the PvP locker (if earned via PvP reward).

BL Skins that were obtained as PvP rewards & then subsequently unlocked in collections after the PvP locker/wardrobe merge are currently not available to equip from the wardrobe in any venue = PvP or PvE or WvW….

Why do the unlocked BL wep skins now have to be reacquired (as opposed to already earned through previous PvP reward) via purchase using BL claim tickets to be equipped in any game venue? They ARE already unlocked in BL collections…

PvP Unique Rewards (Keeping Casuals Invested)

I prefere precursor or gift (for legendary) like a special rewards for top high tier in the new spvp competitive seasons.

In this test season we will have exclusive armor and a exclusive minipet for top100 (armor only for top20).

Of course it’s a test, i think armor for top20 is nice but only a mini pet for 21-100 is not really great.

In general, i’d like a league system with divisions (gold bronze etc.) and rewarding every top tier of every division in different ways for different seasons.

This is a test so i hope future seasons will able to have this league structure.

Agree with unique rewards (armor & mini pets) for league play, why not right?

Still, my take on this thread is intended to discuss “keeping casuals invested”. Not sure that rewards for top high tier creates incentive for casuals, but hey, could happen. My sense is that “casuals” are a few hrs per wk or pve that want to do something different occasionally. I suspect that a relatively large % of pve already grind something. So the right incentive combined with the right controls should bring more into pvp. The real question is, after getting the grind reward, will they stay?

Wanna get more ppl interested in pvp? How bout a chance for precursor???

Grind-able progressive limited repeatable Precursor Reward Track (hot join ONLY)

1st time complete track 25 times for 25% chance of random precursor chest
2nd time complete track 75 times for 33% chance of random precursor chest
3rd time complete track 150 times for 50% chance of random precursor chest
4th time complete track 250 times for 66% chance of random precursor chest
5th time complete track 500 times for 75% chance of random precursor chest
6th time complete track 1000 times for 100% chance of random precursor chest

Each time a precursor is acquired from the chest, existing odds cut 1/2 for each subsequent track completion sequence

A few extra things to “prevent abuse”

Can’t start next sequence without opening random chest from completed sequence = controls probability resets

No more then 5 levels per track per day = time gating

Track levels can only be “earned” from matches where moment of hot join occurred with less than 25 points acquired in the match for either team = discourages hot join “stalkers” from joining winning team after match is decidedly over

Glad to know that a “sink” for excess BS dust was created (mawdry2). Can’t wait for a dragonite & empyreal sink too… I still have at least 20 stacks of each + over 125 refined bricks of each.

btw of a sink, can’t we just trade 1 dragonite ore or 1 empyreal fragment for random qty of pile of silky sand? At least there’s a chance for geodes after all that mouse clicking…

As an aside, I know someone that actually quit the game because he didn’t want to just keep deleting in-game wvw rewards. He didn’t want to craft & had 2 alts with 4 20 slot bags FULL of nothing but Empyreal fragment stacks when he quit (since he averaged 24hrs per wk in wvw for about a year)

do you delete ascended mats?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

Ascended mats (Bloodstone Dust, Dragonite Ore & Empyreal Fragments) are worse than dandelions… At least dandelions can be sold to a merchant.

These ascended mats all have an important use (making ascended weps/armor) but are still only one component of the relevant recipes. Other items of the ascended recipes are far less readily available (T6 mats). So without enough gold in my account to purchase enough T6 mats, there is a “need” to hoard the ascended mats until enough of the recipe constituents are acquired.

Unfortunately, I’m hitting my hoarding limit. It’s gotten to the point where I don’t really want to open world boss, wvw, & jp loot chests anymore. It simply feels wrong to open a chest and then delete some of the contents (ascended mats) because I don’t have room for them or willing to spend the ~15 silver to craft them into items where my ascended crafted mat storage is almost full.

Some solutions are to buy more character inventory slots or bank slots or make mules just to store ascended mats. These solutions are only a temporary tactic to “kick the can down the road”. I know the easy answer is just don’t do the content that yields ascended mats, but except for jp, this is the content where all the players amass. So far I’ve spent around 75g in reagents alone just refining into Bloodstone Bricks, Dragonite Ingots & Empyreal Stars (not counting the obsidian shard) in efforts to conserve inventory space created by the raw ascended mats. 75g isn’t that much & I suspect that some will respond with something like just suck it up & spend more to refine & conserve space (always an option).

Any chance ascended mats can be made salvageable? That way there’s a cost for conversion (kinda like reagents & obs shards) which is lower if you don’t want to use the ascended mat in a recipe. The result of the salvage could be something equally as valuable like a pile of silky sand. My preference would be to have a special merchant that would buy them for at least as much as a dandelion (2 copper each) so that you could sell a stack at a time for 5 silver

Seems kinda weird that players have to keep “exiting” the game to a 3rd party browser based app like http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/World_boss to find a scheduled event. I’d prefer something in one of the tabs as opposed to receiving on screen autonag messages (like the ones where scarlets mob was attacking in some zone during one of the LW event series).

Also, with the new mega servers, it’s really tuff to find out when any of the temples are “under attack” to draw players to those events. SO something in the hints tab to assist players in identifying temple event status would be really helpful too

can a sort/search/filter be added by “set” to the wardrobe panel?

For example, I’d like to equip a complete set & it’s a real challenge to find/locate each of the items in the set since there’s no way way to group them together (like the old pvp locker).

Also, some sets I had were sadly still incomplete @ 4/15/14. & with the new wardrobe item grouping system, it’s a real “challenge” to keep track of what"s still missing from the set… The new system summarizes a count of how many skins are unlocked by type (wep or armor piece), but not which ones within a set. I’ve been using an external spreadsheet to track set completion (since I used to use the mystic forge in the glory days) and with the only sorts/filters available in the current wardrobe system, tracking “wardrobe skin inventory” reconcilation is non-trivial at best.

Feedback: Max Daily/Monthly AP

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

The absolute cap on daily/monthly achievement points earned is a really, really bad idea. There are far better ways to deal with ‘quality of life’ and competitiveness issues…

…Proposal: make an actual Competitive Leaderboard that ONLY tracks truly permanent achievements: NO dailies, monthlies or living story. This would instantly narrow the gap between most players while still leaving the relative positions of most players relatively intact.

1) I COMPLETELY agree with your logic & proposal !!! Either Permanent or LW / historical leaderboard is far more appropriate (sorry I omitted large portions or your post for brevity in this reply)
2) I strongly suspect that the compelling “unspoken” purpose of capping dailys is ANET intent to STEER players into other venues of the game (like those AP hunters that only do the wvw last cause they typically take the longest – because they actually depend so much on other palyers in order to complete)
3) Almost all of the dailys (not all, but most) also contribute in some way to other AP (except vets/champs/zone kills, etc.) so once daily cap is reached, there won’t be 2 in-game “contributions to rewards” associated with completing most of the dailys. Once the other AP category (ie keg brawl, crab toss, etc.) is capped too, the only reward left is that received from the bonus chest or drop from the actual kill. Much like when giant slayer is completed, the only reward for killing another giant is the drop
4) might make room for other ap categories to be introduced – like filling either a wardrobe or weapons locker (new gold sink), or # of times each temple or teq or triple wurm completed, or # of mystic forge usages, or….

CDI Topic: Rewards in PvP

in CDI

Posted by: doomfodder.2906

doomfodder.2906

This!!!
Rank should be a signal of skill and prestige.
Spvp should be a place where people go to compete each other and prove to be the best and rank system must rappresent that.

My take on this sentiment is akin to what I’ve read in this and other threads: “Players need skill-based rewards, not farm-based ones.” So my question is still… What’s wrong with both?

Currently rank finishers/emotes are basically achieved via grind where grind duration CAN BE reduced by individual skill (or farming/cheating). IMO, current rank reward feels like the best long term goal for casual PvP’er, you put your time in & eventually get your shiney that can be displayed in other venues of the game (ignoring the ability to display one of many titles that almost nobody reads). If PvP community doesn’t like the word “RANK” assosicated with grind based reward, call it something else (like “PvP grind based reward title finisher”)

THE REAL QUESTIONS ARE
1) what criteria is used to measure “skill”?
2) How to prevent/police abuse of these “skill” measurements"?
Again, IMO PvP Skill based “recognition” can only really be assessed via tournaments/seasons/ladders (but even these CAN BE manipulatd).

Off topic suggestion: skill based rewards might be “gold” ghost finishers instead of the current “silver” ghost finishers which are awarded by the current rank system.

Currency substituting glory for gold essentially equates to being able to spend your future PvP “earnings” & stored “glory” currency at different “merchants” than the glory vendors only (even enables gem store via in-game gem purchases). I ask myself, why would I (just a lowly dolyak) want to purchase non PvP items from those other “gold merchants”? Just to be able to “display” non PvP items in PvP? Personally, what I’d like to spend my PvP currency on is “trophies” that I can display not just in PvP but in the other venues as well (PvE & WvW). So far the ONLY PvP “trophy” (not title) that can be displayed outside of PvP is the rank finisher – and THAT is being scrapped.

I’m disappointed to see the rank finisher progression evaporate. Apparently, there is some concern in the community that ranks create class elitism (making it hard to join teams like the old GW1 HoH days) + with rank points farming, the ranks hold less “significance” & feels like cheating to a PvPer. To me, the rank emote is an in-game PvP item (earned, purchased, or farmed), not a symbol of skill (since it’s really acquired through grind anyway).

The inference of the above is that the intent of currency substitution is ONLY to enable PvP’ers to participate in the other parts of the games “market”. Although players can earn gold exceedingly quickly in PvE (dungeon running etc), I presume that ANET is trying to enable PvP’ers to more actively participate in TP (buying T6 mats for ascended armor/wep crafting) since PvP’ers don’t inherently want to farm PvE content for those items.

I only hope that the currency change actually has the “intended effect” of strengthening the PvP community (keeping the existing player base & expanding it). What I don’t see is the draw of new players into PvP by eliminating the PvP only trophies (rank emotes). But who knows, if a player can earn gold FASTER in PvP than PvE or WvW, maybe a population shift will occur. That combined with adding more achievement points could also draw in some of the generic achievement hunters. Then PvP’ers will get to stomp more noobs…

In any event, I don’t see anything in this change that it has ANYTHING to do with attempts to “stop” glory farmers, since it only turns them into gold farmers instead. My guess is that it will be slower to earn gold in PvP than in either PvE or WvW. Hmmm… why did zkeys just come to mind?

can’t use splitter to recover skin because skin isn’t a wep…

what is problem with enabling special tranmute “skinned” wep to another wep and leaving it acct bound? make the cost of special transmute “lodestone” say 250 gems? I’d pay for it….

The 2 week LW pace “rewards” the “hard core” PvE player base, not the casual player. IMO that’s good, “hard core” player should be rewarded with achievements (unlike just more inv items). You’re on every day? Here ya go !!! You can’t get it done in time? There’s something else on the way. The approach creates incentive & fluidity (not continuity).

With that said, in my general experience, I find that LW content gets “jumped on” by the hordes on the first day or 2 of the release. After that, participation drops off appreciably. So, If you’re not on within 1st 48 hrs of LW chapter launch, it can be real challenge to complete the content. For example, most recently the Aetherpath is a challenge to even attempt because it’s currently impossible to find a PUG to do it & those players that have “been there done that” aren’t “in the mood” to do it again. Also, I think back to last xmas and remember how much more difficult it was to find a toymaker PUG near the end of the event than it was on the day the airship landed in each main town, or how empty the jubilee was after part 2 of that LW chapter came out, or finding a team for the T2 candidate trials a week after that chapter was launched, etc…

Time gating the LW chapter content similar to the ascended mats or home instance nodes model would force players to space out their participation to do the LW chapter grind. Flip side: it might also make it harder to complete the grind since the “surge” would be suppressed. If time gating were implemented, I would lobby for a reduced grind accordingly because of the lost opportunity. This structure could also divert LW player base to other venues (wvw, pvp, TP, etc…) during gated down time.

Thief:
One of the issues we are working on for thieves this patch is the dependence on the traits which boost initiative. We did this by shaving a significant amount of initiative gain from these traits while simultaneously boosting the generic rate of initiative gain by 33%. We have also somewhat reduced the effectiveness of high evasion thieves by reducing vigor up time and adding some cast time to the Shadow Return skill on the sword. This prevents these thieves from evading too much and too easily dealing with being disabled (stun, daze, fear, knockdown, etc.). Also we are trying to improve the survivability of thieves in the Acrobatics line through easier access to the Hard to Catch trait and increased effectiveness of the Assassin’s Reward trait. This will reward thieves who are actively engaged in the fight rather than those who are just dodging over and over again. The change to Infusion of Shadow is meant to stop players from gaining initiative by applying stealth while already in stealth. This should keep thieves from being able to recharge all of their power while idling in a very long stealth. We felt that using a lot of different abilities to maintain stealth is ok, but re-using the same ability over and over for almost permanent stealth was just bad for the game, especially when gaining large amounts of initiative.

7) …. play unstealthed like ALL other classes …. THAT IS THE POINT !
Anet doesnt Support stealthless gameplay and the patch will shut down thoose who want PLAY STEALTHLESS with s/p or p/p cause the only Thing, realy THE ONLY ONE THING to avoid burst, dmg,cc is to DOGDE

Do you ever played a thief in tpvp vs high ranked Teams…. I think … NOO!
If you only Play WVW then I can understand your Problems with the misstakenly permastealth; want some tipps: if you walk/run straight Forward you can kite some thiefs cause their build is effectly bound to Point fights.

answer: nope I don’t play tpvp cause solo queue is a joke, & you gotta KNOW somebody to get into tpvp. I’m just a spvp dolyak & I play ALL OTHER VENUES in the game on all 8 toons.

In legacy, my thief can easily solo both soldiers & a caster in less than 2 min, then solo other caster & lord in around 3 min (both those numbers are kinda slow because I’m NOT a good thief)

In skyhammer, my thief can take out skyhammer operator even before he “leaves” cannon or ALWAYS just moments after .

In wvw, I’ve escorted a dolyak with 2 other players only to have a single thief take out the dolyak & down the other two players along the route.

U can’t kill what you can’t target. It’s really as simple as that. Can’t target makes thief/stealth the best defense in the game.

“some tipps: if you walk/run straight Forward you can kite some thiefs " running from a thief is NOT the answer… turning your back for an extended period (like more than a few seconds) to a foe when in range is like saying kill me now. The best option is to NOT engage.

in spvp my best hope is to stalemate a permastealth thief when I play as thief, eng, war, mes. I lose every time with rngr, ele, nec, guard. In wvw, I don’t even waste my time since there are better ways to score points for the server.

playing any class facing a pve thief is trivial (becuase they don’t run permastealth builds). Imagine if you had to face 4-5 vet level permastealth thief(s) in PvE in order to complete some objective in an area, how long would it take you and your party to kill them when they’re not targetable & can down you from stealth?

1) All of these Thief changes are intended to create build diversity
2) the SINGLE thing about the thief that enables it to be the BEST defensive class in the game is stealth = inability to TARGET thief
3) the ability to attack while stealthed enables thief to systematically win MANY matches 1v1 1v2 1v3 no matter what classes are faced (unless foes are just randomly casting AOE while thief isn’t smart enough to keep his distance waiting for cooldowns)
4) IMO ability to attack from stealth is the single MOST FUN part about playing thief. For example in spvp, many times thief can solo take out all (at least 1/2) base NPC before the rest of the foes team can even react (already engaged in capping/fighting).
5) changing the ability to sustain stealth “evens up” those 1v1 1v2 1v3 types of matches but does NOT appreciably CHANGE builds (wep choices) only some trait distribution
6) it almost seems as if the real intent of these changes is to simply encourage thieves to use other traits (those not typcially used) by reducing the synergy of existing traits with basic Thief playstyle mechanic
7) Alternate approach to Thief build diversity is to cause stealth debuff on any wep attack = no wep attack WHILE stealthed = stealth becomes pure defense and not offense (other than surprise). Thief playstyle would then be to get in – get out without simply downing opponent (since finish can still be accomplished via stealth) or play unstealthed like ALL other classes.

Feedback: WvW Season 1 Achievements

The achievements have forced us to deal with players who don’t care for actually PvPing, that’s why we care.

“deal with”…. Ok, so I’m an acheivement kitten!

I freely admit that I get into the wvw que solely for the achievement points. If there were MORE wvw achievement points (dailys/monthlies etc), then I would wvw MORE often than do now = only after I finish all pve & pvp dailys. For the most part (except jp & MAYBE defense), ALL contributions of the season 1 acheivement points have SOME positive impact on the servers matchup performance. Presumably sentries / merc camps / supply camps / dolyaks achivement requirements are “so high” is because they tend to be neglected by your typical wvw player. So making the acheivement points requirements higher SHOULD mean that the achievement hunters WON’T neglect them = more contirubution to server matchup performance.

The requirements are definitely “high” for anyone that plays zerg dynamics in wvw. In my wvw experience, if you’re not a commander or at the front of the zerg, you wont get enough damage on them to earn contribution to achievement points anyway…

Lastly, the concern about achievement hunters wasting supply is that supplies get consumed in a way that’s not as “tactically beneficial” as consuming them in another way (like building siege)… since by the same theory achivement hunters will cap more camps, then some amount of that “wasted supply” should be replenished (at some other tactical location) and btw ADD MORE points to server.

it’s hardly something that the typical wvw kitten has to “deal with”

Transmutation Splitter w/ Runes?

You should get back:
- the item that gave the current appearance
- the item that gave the current stats
- the current rune

if so it doesn t work

Instead of a berserker fractal GS i got a pearl GS and a twilight

item that gave current apperance = twilight

item that gave current stats = pearl gs

Fractal gs is the item that doesn’t give stats so unless it is the skin currently used by the item, you won’t get it back.

It works as intended.

so… If I wanted to recover a SAB skin for example (in order to reuse on another weapon), the transmutation splitter isn’t the right technique since the SAB skin is the item that doesn’t give stats?

So if my server play WvW more than your server, i must have a debuff, why?!?
Why i must be debuffed if your server love farming Sunless more than going in WvW?

I personnaly don’t like being buffed or debuffed in a PvP venue (but that’s just me)

A more fundemental question is: if your server plays WvW more than my server, then why is your server being matched with my server (for the sake of variety)?

I touched on this a bit in the Bloodlust thread and somewhere else. I also suggested a player cap per borderland per server. My thoughts are if the que’s get to long for certain individuals or guilds that maybe it will promote them to transfer to a lower populated server.

Player cap leads to queue. Queue’s are not the solution. If you’re stuck in a queue, you go do anything else. If it happens multiples times, you semi-permanently find anything else to do.

My other suggestion is that WE as the WvW Community try and balance these things ourselves. That would take a huge amount of cooperation from those reading these forums to get the word out to the active WvW commanders, players on their servers.

I myself would like to start a thread that is more of a census to try and see if we can’t generate our own numbers and then communicate with some of the respected WvW leaders of each server and see if we can’t balance things out.

However the only way this works is with cooperation from Anet as well. Even if we managed to pull this off as a WvW community to essentially even out the playing field and pick teams as it were to balance out servers, and everyone was a willing participant, no one would do this without free transfers.

Couldn’t agree more. ANET can’t solve WvW pop blanace issue without player cooperation. The player base can’t solve WvW pop balance issue by itself without data from ANET. What data do you need in order to decide whether (or where) to move for WvW pop equilibrium?

I’m curious if we pulled this off if Anet would allow one free transfer for players willing to straighten this out.

ANET could incent WvW pop balance by making a one time balance transfer free or even discounted. Unfortunatley, this might set a bad precident. Still, I can’t think of any other incentive ANET could offer …

Winning matches in WvW boils down to very large coordinated pop with 24 hr coverage – nothing more. If your server lacks 1 or both of these 2 factors = no win. We all know sheer numbers overcome all the AC & other defense that can be manned by smaller pops trying to hold a point.

Recent WvW changes are “designed” with the intent to force action on the part of all the combatants. So the “design” of the current buff is supposed to force large pops (that want to keep the buff) to divide their numbers into more point holding groups. Based on my recent WvW experience + other threads in this forum, it’s questionable as to whether those changes are actually having THAT “desired effect”.

IMO all actions ANET takes to force action on the part of all combatants SHOULD be FOCUSSED on incenting the first sentence of this post. Everything else is either window dressing or further game imbalance. Once pops are EVEN, then and only then will things like recent changes/buffs force action on the part of all combatants. At least in the last week, it appears as if the recent change does little to incent more players on lower pop servers into WvW to address the pop imbalance caused by the current matchup algorithm.

A system which dynamically capped teamsize to within an errorbar of the smallest team would solve pop imbalance issue but obviously create discontent for those stuck in queue when they want to play. WvW has no autobalance feature like pvp & likely won’t for many practical reasons. Accordingly the playerbase must create its own pop balance solution to sustain the venue.

To the point of this post: Would ANET publish a histogram sub-grouped by map of WvW pop by server? Not a real-time histogram, but just hourly pop totals of previous matchup right after reset. Each server could more easily correlate when/where the match turned (if they also kept track of match points by hour) – stimulating tactics for future WvW matches. Think of it this way, if the entire WvW pop could see the historical pops by time of day, then sizable WvW pops from other servers MIGHT chose to transfer to a server where their contributions would make a significant difference (at least in 24 hr coverage). Those players that move probably won’t ever be stuck in another queue!! Give the player base enough data to make informed decisions prior to league introduction…

1st & foremost TYVM to the leaders of TTS for being willing to do what it takes to get the player base coordinated!!! Stepping up to lead 500+ cross server players in this structured server world environment is a thankless job! Forming up to fight Teq in the same overflow is BRILLIANT = avoids all the inherent overhead of guesting (which is primarily for WvW + finding active PvE events & uncontested dungeon entrances). As long as there are sufficient players to start an overflow, this “solution” is not only viable but SPOT ON!

2nd I applaud ANET in the underlying theme of this event = a LARGE amount of players must continuously cooperate for event success. To OP point, this is an MMO after all and PvE is a Cooperative venue. I want to cooperate as much as the next player (excluding trolls/griefers/etc). Personally, I play this game for the teamwork because there’s a lot of content in this game that simply can’t be soloed (sure much of it can be, but that’s not the point) – thinking chest events, dungeons, fractals, temples, etc.

3rd I do however find it ironic that the player base MUST find its OWN solution to ANETs event construct in order to cooperate – essentially using techniques that are NOT IN GAME. The technique (ref OP) of guild creation & recruiting “temporary” players using external web forum (like this one hosted by ANET) focused only on one event highlights how effective the player base can be when ANET provides the compelling event combined with the right leadership (TY again OP). Off topic: I do understand external VOIP: less ANET server communication = good

4th Maybe these few massive guilds will stay together in the future (instead of temporary forming just for RAID events). My only real hope is that these “new” guilds will also have players that intend to do the various pre-existing content that can’t be soloed – I’ve been looking for that type of guild on HoD since Q1 2013. And as we all know repeatedly typing LF ads in LA is just asking for chat filter to suppress messages…… I’m really tired of solo play every day and just hoping there are like minded players when I use AN EXTERNAL TIMER WEBSITE to find an active event… The “new” beta in-game LFG tool doesn’t address this issue!

Back to OP: TY again for stepping up!!! I hope U leaders have the tenacity to keep it together as the game continues to evolve.
