I will try to bring my 2 cents here:

  • boon spam + boon corruption spam (necro)
  • CC spam + stability spam (engi, rev)
  • evade spam, block spam, heal spam + condi2strong, power2strong
    this all is summarized by a simple concept: power creep. Yes, by adding spam of stability you counter CC spam and achieve “balance”, same for evade/block/heal countered by absurd power and condi damage. But this makes the game so much less enjoyable overall.

Class stacking is not a new problem, and I don’t think it is a problem on its own, the problem is that stacking classes using the exact same build should never been the optimal thing to win.

Yo-yo balance: technically gw2 PvP is well balanced, maybe more than it has ever been. Sure guardians currently wreck low and medium tiers, but high tier is at its best. The problem is again the power creep. This balance is just not an enjoyable one.

You forgot: abysmal build diversity. Here again, partly result of the power creep since you need HoT broken specs to work.

Finally, low and toxic population is in great part the result of all the above. So all the main gw2 problems can be summarized by “power creep”.

STOP AND REVERT THE POWERCREEP!

Yo when you say CC spam and only include Rev/Engi as the worst of your problems, than you might want to start paying attention to warriors (3 stuns), druid (2 cc’s or more depending), necro (2-3 fears depending on their rune), mesmer (chaos storm + 2 stuns from f3 given they are chrono condi), and thief (headshot spam, as well steal, as well as basalisk)

but yeah this game is trash, it has been since HoT, simple fix? remove HoT from pvp

It depends on the situation. In some cases winning a 2v1 isn’t all that complicated.

For instance: Rev finishes 1v1 has no CD’s left, gets plus’d by a necro, necro kitten spams his condis on to him, rev gets plus’d by a team mate that isn’t fit for 1v1ing the necro if the rev is to die, and the necro ends up killing both.
1v2’s are only generally possible if one of the two are completely out of cooldowns. Other than that its someone eating cleave after +1ing a 1v1.

Imagine swapping legends on a thief, and each time you did you’d get full endurance…

and then implement a sword 3 rev on thief where you could stay in stealth while activating the skill…

They didn’t fix guardian for high level play.

It lacks mobility, and any coordinated team isn’t going to stand in the traps, or fail to provide stability for one another, will pick it apart.

The mobility it lacks gets hit pretty hard when they try to contest a side node, because it’s easy for the class to run out of cooldowns very quickly, and not be prepared for a 1v2 scenario. Without that mobility, it has a harder time running away.

I tend to believe that every thief, power mesmer has the right to complain about Dragon’s Maw putting them into downstate when the person who laid the trap isn’t even there.

Just a small request, really enjoy queuing against the new dragon hunter mains, but just one small suggestion would be that traps disappear after a certain point in time.

If the person’s not there, the trap shouldn’t be either. Stepping on it when you’re fighting someone else, on accident or just not even kittening seeing dragons maw, has gotten very annoying.

This is really just another shining example of how the forums are not being utilized to their fullest. We STILL have many unresolved issues regarding shield, most of which would be completely eradicated by moving the protection buffs AFTER (READ THIS PARTICULAR SENTENCE MODS/DEVS) the skill has been completed. The individual who was high when developing this trait should be immediately relieved of their duties, and subsequently everyone who passes it as a subject that is unimportant. It is essentially telling the Engineer community that dead traits are supposed to be that useless, in this particular case on an epic scale…

I dislike that we are continually being stripped of damage roles in pvp, forcing us deeper into bunker town and being subsequently ridiculed for it. The end result has been drops in sustain and damage potential with no compensation. I concede that we are exceptional at bunkering and the adjustments to such are completely justified, but the loss of damage is only going to force the profession into dedicated tank/res bots or some form of cancerous condie bunk.

I was remaining optimistic that many of our remaining bugs/dead utilities would have been ironed out when I saw “For the baseline engineer, our goal was to improve lesser-used abilities and adjust cooldowns where appropriate”, but that really only boiled down to 2 useful skill changes, AED and Net Shot. Everything else can be chalked off as spitting in the face of Scrapper, while simultaneously farting on core Engineer.

It’s just sad that they focused most of their buffs for core engineer on being condition orientated. I really want to know who looks at rifle and thinks, “Man this looks like it’s in a good state”, when competing with the current meta it is no where near where it should be, or the option is far out of line with where it should be, which is very much the case on scrapper.

I was just wondering if anyone else is triggered that THE ONLY BUFF ON RIFLE IS NET SHOT GETTING INCREASED SPEED.

I’d try everything, don’t get too attached, there’s a new update on the 26th.

Look some builds up, see which one you enjoy playing, metabattle is a good site to use.

Then decide what you want to do as far as a team goes. Generally it’s easier to carry when you’re playing something with sustain, you end up staying on a point longer. When you go DPS orientated you’re just looking for fights to win. Being that extra guy that comes in and changes the fight in your favor, whether it’s 3v2, 2v1. Although remember that if it’s 2v1, the fight has to end in less than 20-30s.

Lately vs thieves I’ll get stuck in the same spot until the fight is over, or mid fight. No, I’m not referring to bask venom.

I’m not sure what’s causing this, and it only happens vs thieves.

Does this happen to anyone else? My internet is completely fine, so it’s not lag.

Worth Getting HoT for PvP?

Honestly HoT doesn’t offer much. In it’s release it completely minimized build diversity in PvP to 6 builds, there are 4 PvE maps that are fun for…. about a day or so? The story doesn’t last long, the boss fight is almost as tragic as the first dragon fight, and A-net is too uptight to add gliding to WvW maps, the new WvW is an example being so large to cross that people don’t even want to play it.

To put it this way – the game has a lot of potential, but it has the wrong staff. The majority of the staff should’ve been fired yesterday. For the game to get better it requires a revamp of the trait system, a balance team that consists of people who actually play the game, better PvP modes, and a revamp of SH because not even A-net can figure out how a moba works.

I understand wanting to advertise your expansion and all, but I think new players, especially free-to-play players would enjoy learning pvp from the core game before playing against the strong specs, (Rev, Chrono, Scrapper). It’d also provide an interesting queue for people who are older to the game that’d prefer to play something core based.

I’m not complaining in any way, I’m just saying it could be pretty cool.

Thoughts, opinions?
