How does it work really? I managed to break %50 of gorseval’s break bar so far (with slick shoes and big ol bomb), I saw couple of videos that engineers with only slick shoes were breaking the break bar of gorseval in 3-4 seconds. And i am doing the excatly same thing (running in circles and everything) but so far no success
Like in the video, you can find one herald and one mesmer to give your “raid buffs”. While fighting with golem you will miss only food buffs. Beside that it will boost your dps because there is no fight mechanic to avoid, so you can execute your dps rotation perfectly. And this is not a comparison of tempest with reaper. Don’t get me wrong I want this because i dont find 21k dps with 40 k burst believable. If you are making 21k dps you need to kill that golem under 4 sec constantly and sometimes you need to kill it under 2 sec cuz you are bursting with 40 k
Edit: Btw I couldnt care less about tempest dps, but this kind of statements are forming an idea of “meta”. Therefore it should come with some sort of proof at least.

My ele does an average of 21k with bursts of nearly 40k dps.
I’d be interested in a video / build description for that. After all, you don’t have an in-game DPS meter either, so how did you determine that value?
I do have an ingame DPS meter. The problem is that it doesn’t work for necros since necros have too many damage sources and it can’t keep up since it works by SS’ing the combat log and calculating the damage from there. This is why I want an official one.
I can try and get some screen shots next week during our raid, but here is the video of our sabetha kill from our healers prospective. I was one of the tempests in this fight, I unfortunately got downed 2 seconds before we killed her and mist form wouldn’t trigger, so no eternal title for us this week
My build is the standard staff tempest build I will have to find the build later today as i’m heading out atm.
I would love to see some math on the necro dps since I can’t get my dps meter to work and trying to figure it out from watching damage ticks is pretty spotty. I’m hoping that next week I can bring my necro into sabetha to try it out myself.
I really dont know anything about tempest but with 21 k dps, you should kill the indestructible golem in 4 seconds. If you make a video of your dps rotation with open combat log, i might believe you, otherwise your ingame dps meter doesnt mean anything man…

In a static fight, one ele and one mesmer beating the golem, and they barely hit 4 sec kill time. Maybe mesmer is just autoattacking, i dont know… And i like to see 40k burst too
This game isnt a competitive pvp game. Get over it. Either quit or accept it for what it is. A pve game.
This sums up everything. We were asking and begging to Anet to fix the salvaging pvp item’s problem for 10 months. And now i heard they’re going to fix it for green items for pve players. For What ? After the patch they will have to salvage 100-200 items? How about us Anet? Well why i even bother to write this right? They have been treating us like a foster child for a year, nothing will change ever…

I cant play the game anymore it keeps crashing, does anyone have any solution for this problem?
I was playing gw2 perfectly last week, today I re-downloaded gw2 client, since then im getting wierd animations and disconnect issues when i use a waypoint or when i try to get in LA . Is anyone else having this problem ?
And this game now became pay to win, since ppl who buy gems can buy more character slots and have more chances to swap character to perfect type for that map/team/or enemies. Thats why they need to lock character when you enter.

Let me summarize balance progress: 3 month ago necros was nearly out of meta, they couldnt keep up with engie’s condi dmg, the fix was obvious, had to give necro another condition which they did. Torment was perfect.
Another problem necro had, and the greatest one, was survivability, we were nearly getting one shotted. Whenever we said " we are too squishy, help us!!" everyone’s answer was ready " you have deathshroud use it" even devs said the same thing.
For 6 months, first thing they have to do was fixing the ds, because trying to balance a class without fixing class mechanic was runnig in circles. Instead of that, they reduced the cooldown spectral armor utility and trait which no one was using it (90 sec was too long, but 60 sec is overkill with new deathshroud) obviously it didnt fix the problem.
And again, instead of ds fix, they added dhuumfire, braind dead, no skill required trait. (Also fire doesnt fit in necro theme) Necro went to op status from tier 3 with one patch. (with weakness buff, blind fix). I really, really want to learn the logic behind this decision. Tell us who suggest this change, what did he/she said while recommending such a lovely idea.
This patch was the most accurate thing that anet did so far. I’m not kidding, DS fix was really needed and survivability was the nearly only thing that necros needed from beginnig of the game. But fixing DS before PAX and after the dhuumfire buff is ridiculous.
Dear devs, I now you care about us, you even consider our feelings and emotions. Pls look at the people who says its a new meta, you have to adapt to new things etc. etc. and learn how an intelligent human being can live in a kitten fairy land. Stop being one of those guys and postpone PAX tournament if you can. I’m not a high skilled player, i just love this game. And i dont want to see 3 necro teams running around and winning the biggest competition of the year with facerolling on keyboard.
You call that a burst?
First of all get a Focus.
Zap him a little with Arc Lightning to add Vulnerability and start shaving off some of that Death Shroud health.
Then Gale – Lightning Strike – Dragon’s Tooth – Phoenix – Comet – Arcane Blast – Lightning Flash – Arcane Wave – HurlThis is potentially the highest burst, but there’s really no need to involve Earth attunement, Water autoattack is very good and even the Water Trident packs a 2-3k crit when traits align.
Why this works? Damage increasing factors:
20% – Tempest defence
20% – Bolt to the heart
10% – Scholar runes
10% – Stone splinters
5% – Vital striking
5% – Force sigil
If you play it right most of these will have an effect at one point or another, adding the combo up to 22k+ damage (Heavy dummy dies before you can unload everything)It doesn’t instagib a Necro with Protection (unlike Thieves and Mesmers), and it definitely shouldn’t, but Ele is definitely capable of taking on such a Necro and the OP-ness of Necros shouldn’t be judged by some Valkarie sustain build while Necro has it’s defences up.
The image below depicts ~23k damage on a Heavy Dummy in mere seconds. That comes after you could potentially be spamming Arc Lightning and Lightning Strike from a safe distance and before firing off Hurl and entering Hulk invulnerable mode.
And then there’s Fiery Greatsword with Bolt to the heart and Stone splinters trait. Massive damage, evasion, gap closing and creating.
You guys even trying to counter Necros? No, just rolling Necros.

I really cant understand these ppl, as they argue against posts like op’s, what are they thinking really? Are they thinking game is balanced or they think the game depends on skills, strategy and cunning right now?
Op made a post, gave us his thoughts, he’s a little agitated because of PAX tournament, he clearly worries about future of this game. If you dont agree with him, make a well-construct counter argument like some ppl.
The sprint will indeed end when all racers have made it up to the finish area. It periodically checks to see if anyone is still racing and if not, it will end early.
Then pls, can you stop adding ppl to races that already started so we dont have to wait 4 min every single time..
Forget top class players. They don’t make up the bulk of the players in guild wars 2. Focus on the every day player. Top class will always play their game and theorycraft their way. They live in a walled garden of 5 people who know each other well, use vent, assign roles and secondary duties etc etc..when advancing the field of medicine..you focus on what works best on the masses..highly specialised neuro surgeons will always develop their own techniques in their community. At the moment most tpvp players at some stage cut their teeth first in spvp. Again..focus on the grass roots..not the tall poppies that occasionally grow here and there.
Your logic is broken man, when a surgeon finds a new extreme technique, only he can use it, he cant post on forums so that everyone shall copy his way of doing things, its takes too much study and practice. When you dont think high rated players and try to balance class for masses, an experienced will pop up and exploit that class to its limits. Then that popular op build will circulate from forums or streams.. There you go you just broke the meta … I think Empathetic fighter was trying to say this.
I love my Necro +800 games, but I simply won’t play it in the current state. Annoying to see more then half the players in a game all being the same class. That’s not fun for anyone imo, and I don’t want to add to the problem. But that’s just me, a lot of people don’t care and just roll whatever the fotm class is.

Meta is changing and ppl cant handle this very well..
I think necros dont need big adjustments, just need little ones like; making dodgeable the undodgeable fears. if anet makes spectral wall dodgeable , give an animation and a short cast time to Ds #3 fear, players will cope this better..
Dont get me wrong, I understand your point of view on this. You think ppl realize the necros coming back and start to wear melandru, maybe they bring necros for countering condi spam, or take condi cleansers like they take stun breakers etc. etc. And these things will shape a new different meta. I would really like to see this.
But they just created a version of d-d thief that spams heartseeker all the time and wins the game..
The important thing is, necros joining to meta is a good thing, no one is arguing with that. And only thinking of meta shifting towards to condi comps is a great pleasure, but it SHOULD NOT be like this.
This game wasnt based on 1v1 strategies before, it was broken, and devs admitted it. They said “we gonna tone down aoe and let the players display their skills”. And then, they brought necro as a brain dead condi cleaver class. Sometimes even i say to my teammates that dont stomp the fallen enemy, let them try to rez him.. I have being playing necro since bwe2. Believe me i reeeeally wanted necro to get in meta back. But not like this, this is not fun, this is not skill based and this is not fair…
P.S Im glad that necromancer is viable. If only it makes the game more versatile and kills power and cleanse way of playing the game. I would be really glad that this just makes more classes viable and not the otherway around. If that is achieved we’re heading in a good direction even if it means changing. If this brings necromancers back to the game at the cost of removing other classes. Then necromancers should be toned down.

My main was necro since bwe3 and i was playing it for first 2-3 months, back then, we were always focus the enemy’s necro first. Ppl forgot how to react to necro, maybe a little part of the problem comes from players …
That being said, we were expecting some nerf to aoe dmg, (maybe weakness change will solve that problem, i dont know) but now they created a monster that can condi cleave an entire team and with a few cc ready for his disposal. Im sorry but Its plain stupid and boring…
Elixir R’s break stun function was never op, they should just increased the cd of rez part or just lower the pulse..
I think this post created a little bir early, because when everybody starts to play necro, opinions will definitely change …
I wonder what happens If necros dont have the rez signet.. Necro need a full rework.
But at least take epidemic from necros, and give them a few better ways to apply conditions.
It’s really tough. At least I can’t figure out a way to survive for a super long time.
The wells aren’t much of a problem. Most of the time you can find a spot on the point where they aren’t laid down. Also, if it means getting off the point for a little bit then get off the point.
The tough part is the sustained damage. And then watching for knockbacks from the other bunker at the same time. You’re going to die without help, and even with help you need the right kind of help. You need someone that can take care of the necro. Thief is probably the best option.
With that said, there’s no rule that says you have to fight on mid. You can go mid at the start alone, and if they have that necro/guardian in mid then leave and go for the outside points. Some teams we play just ignore mid completely. You can always go back and try to neutral the point with knockbacks later (if you bring them).
Believe me, I get ignored on mid a lot. No reason your team can’t either!
Pretty much this ^^ . If i may add some little things…
First of all, realize you are fighting 1v2 on point and there isnt a lot of thing you can do about it but calling help. In my opinion, necro is one of the worst macht up for guardians in game. They can inflict poison and weakness, rip your boons AND you cant block their marks because of Greater Marks trait which is most of guardian’s defense coming from block.
Little tips;
If they are using flesh wurm, they cant rip your boons.
If they are not using flesh wurm, they dont have any stun breakers.
If they are copying Powerr’s well necro build, they are going with no defense other then death shroud and at the start of game they have nearly no life force. Put a thief behind the necro and watch them go paranoid. And your thief should practice 1v1 with a necro a lot.
Wells on 40 sec cd. Dont afraid of wells that much.
And I think the most important thing is signet of undeath, if someone goes down from other team, one of your teammeates should cc necro quick.

One word to commentators going that show, we know you’re human and you can have some worries about your charisma or whatever. But have some balls out there and say what you think boldly.
I agree %100 op, there should be a system for ppl like us (wanna be a good pvp player but dont have fixed time or big crew for it) but even Anet brings 2v2 or 3v3 arena system with a ladder system at 15 nov, it wont be a solution to our boredom. Because the whole pvp balance progress which they’re struggling to finish right now, will go to garbage and all little annoying things that we’re turning a blind eye, will become bigger and bigger ( not to mention stupid bunker, burst problem). And then, they will have to start aaaall over again. Because of this, i cant look to future with hope unfortunately..
