We have defeated the might of EBay.
We have stood firm against the Goon Zergs of Maguuma.
And we shall defeat Sorrow and overcome Madness.
We are Tarnished Coast, and we shall overcome!
We have no class!

I’m on my knees pretty much grovelling for respawn timers outside of Renown required nodes and creatures. Pretty straight forward really, I can’t be the only one constantly frustrated when attempting puzzles, or pushing to a chest, and getting flanked non-stop by mobs spawning behind me because I’m forced to fight some veteran mob…
inb4 “You just want stuff handed to you, work for it.” ; gtfo, if you don’t agree, then don’t agree, but I’m not looking for an easy way out or anything ‘handed’ to me… Mob respawns are most definitely not based on map population in the least, if they were, I’d have a slew of other people around me, and chat would be, well, chatting.
Sure you could easily have enough alts to completely negate the need for switching.
But that in itself doesn’t make the current pricing more rational.I’m more than half-way through Tailoring and Artificing and I’ve mastered cooking (in before the nerf) on a single toon. From what I can see theres not a much profitability in the crafted items, after you take away the value of materials. The tradeskill must justify the cost of using the tradeskill, it doesn’t really matter how much money a level 80 can make in a day from doing events.
Pointing out that the game can be improved in a certain way for the average player, is not in the least way hateful. The average forum user here is not a good representation of the average player, many of whom will never post on a forum. Please note the silly face where i say ‘fanbois’; I pre=paid for the CE, i think that’s good enough to make me a member of the exclusive club!
Clearly it would be beneficial to master every trade on a single toon, just for the skill points. WE can’t really put a value on the XP gain you would get from mastering a trade, but for many of us it’s likely worth the cost of training the skill.
You can buy a whole lotta Peach Tarts off the TP with 40 silvers; is it really worthwhile to craft food for yourself if you have to switch trades to do it? And if you gathered a full stack of Omnomberries yourself; you could sell em on the TP and buy your Tarts! You’d nearly break even on the deal (in fact you’d save money on other ingredients) and you don’t need to switch trades to do it!
I’m pretty sure you’ve missed the entire point of the responses in the thread. Whether crafting is profitable or not, the idea is not that you should switch professions at every whim or whenever you see someone spam in map for a crafter, but that you can. No one said it wouldn’t be cheap, and there needs to be a mechanism in place to curb exotic output, as well as experience. It’s a tool to add longevity to the game. Really, if it bothers you that much, I’m sure you can find a guild member or someone in zone to craft if for you if you’ve the mats, etc…
…
Obligatory line claiming my Anet neutrality
soo it only show during the nigth outside dont even show in dungeon … pretty sad
all ghastly weapons have their particles enabled only at night…. ever seen a ghost in the day? NO!
boom.
I’ve done Citadel of Flame around 4 times without a death.
Each completion of an explorable path in CoF = 129000 xp (not including the daily).
I have not seen an increase in, or been awarded for, the completion of any Lifetime Survivor achievement tier, though I have gained ~400000xp today without dying…

Scholar Magg in Citadel of Flame will not start the bomb event. For everyone in the group he is stuck on “Greet.” Similarly, if the event can be started, he does not accept bombs, and is also stuck on “Greet.”

if you want to buy gold. just by gems and trade them… Anet has given you the option to legally and EASILY buy currency in game…
not hard…
god…
Dodge, duck, dip, dive, and dodge.
i build PURE dps, 100% power, precision, and critdmg. i have no points in either toughness or vit lines, and i survive just fine.
it’s not only about dodging, you can move, too! in fact, I never STOP moving. Not only that, but EVERY class has an active block mechanic. USE it. I can get through any dungeon without dying.
Bosses don’t have enrages, and classes dont have resource pools. Not everything is a zerg. Hell, i was in a grp that took and HOUR to do kudu in SE-SM because the second golem healed through our conditions.
Adjust, adapt, move on.
What i find odd about it is that you can just have them spread out between toons so instead of paying to switch profs you just have to to go through a loading screen. hell you could just have toon that you don’t play but has two crafts at 400/400 since as far as i know there isn’t a level restriction on crafts like there is in other mmos, If i wanted a toon just for crafting in wow for example i would first have to level him up to 75 i think to access the highest level recipes.
how is this odd >.>
That anti-farming script makes no sense at all. At lv80 if you want gear, you need to grind for it. And then, you punish people for grinding. What?
i’ve only ever seen the script kick in after an hour in the same location with a full grp farming, and only applied to the dropping of armour/weapons, not materials.
It’s also worth mentioning that I’ve only 57 sticks of butter in my bank, and I dont use them for anything, so I mus not be getting as much butter as everyone else…
Jeweler is the cheapest, and the easiest. Hold on to all the junk gems you get levelling and never use, and you’ll have 400 jewelling in no-time at 80.
Guildies of mine also hit Chef 400 spending less than 1g50s.
frustratiooooooooooooooooon; bugged on Ehmry’s
bump for guild justice!
I don’t believe so. Bind on Account means that they item is accessible to all characters; the bank is the only way to transfer things between characters. I’m not sure if mail boxes are shared across whole accounts but I don’t think they are.
The Skill Challenge at Bayt Fallahin in Malchor’s Leap is broken, and has always been broken. The NPC who begins the challenge appears to spawn inside a wall. The only way to do it is to have a Guardian use Line of Warding (staff5) on the wall to try and knock him out. Rarely works.
Please fix. 1000s of players are stuck on 98% complete =/
Didn’t read the thread, but in response to the OP, and the title concerns; Guardians in my opinion are not meant to engage by themselves, they are the only class who was designed with more of a support role in mind, but with the ability to output damage as well as take it. I’ve been in situations where 2 Guardians and withstood an entire 5-man zerg in sPvP.
There may be an option available through Gems or something in the future. I’m sure you’re not the only person thinking this.
They wasn’t anything in the patch notes about them nerfing drop rates of anything. Where do you farm?
I’m going to go on a limb here and assume you’re saying that the chest you get has gear that isn’t for your character. Gear in the bank is available to any character on your account, and I believe this goes for the PvP Locker too. I’m not sure about tournament tokens.
You can also PvP Salvage gear to make a new random piece that suits your character’s armour req. Takes 5 powder, a Rank Token, an orb/crystal, and an item token bought from the glory vendor.
Why won’t it show me other players real levels? I understand that it has a green arrow showing if the character has been brought down levels but why can’t I also see their real level? How hard is that to implement in a game? Or am I missing something? Also, add this in WvWvW. You already made it so you can’t see your enemies name or gear, at least let me see their level.
Is there a way to turn this on/off? If so, which I doubt, I’ll feel like a kitten.
If you target, or highlight them, their real level should be displayed in brackets beside the scaled level; or at least it is when you are in a group with them.
Exactly what these guys have said. You transfer your stats from a piece of armour to your Guild armour with your emblem.
Personally I think the Guild Armour looks terrible, but to each his own.
Nerf illusionary unload damage (literally could be 50% of total mesmers damage) since its just a passive damage. and increase their active damage that they have to work for. Good place would be increase shatter damage / combo if it hits just 1 enemy.
Unfortunately no. I play a Mesmer, and I can honestly say, that without this, we’d be next to useless in PvP.
There are two types of Mesmers (in general); The Illusionist Mesmer, and the Condition Mesmer. The Condition Mesmer is, obviously, the sustained DPS model, but also doubles as the support model. The issue here, is that in sPvP when fights are generally quick, the Mesmer has very little opportunity to do much damage. This of course can be mitigated by the addition of Confuse, and confusion on Shatter.
Thus, the segway into illusions. People don’t want to admit it, but realistically, sPvP is about burst. It’s about hitting a node with your team, and punching the other team in the face as hard as you can as they struggle to stay alive (the exception to this being the Guardian. Nerf Guardian sustain…). To me, the only real useful aspect of a condition Mesmer is the confuse, but the good thing about this is that the Illusionist has confuse on shatter as well. As for direct DPS done by illusions, I implore you to play a mesmer in sPvP. Our weapons to very little, save for the sword, and all weapons have a summoning ability.
Scepter: Clone spam, negligible damage, made for shatters
Sword: Slow, but large burst phantasm, only in OH
OH Pistol: High burst DPS, slow attack speed
Staff: Caster phantasm. Big damage; really slow.
OH Torch: condition phastasm
OH Focus: Support phantasm
We only have 2 utilities that summon phantasms, only one does damage.
Basically this means that we only have 2 damaging phantasm up at once. One from the weapon and one from the utility. No one uses the utility phantasm for damage, they use the condition removal phantasm.
I’m a little all over the place here, it’s 5a.m., leave me alone, but the basic premise is this.
- We can only have so many phantasms available
- they just got fixed and are easy as sin to kill
- they glow pink
- they are our main source of dps
- our weapon attacks are negligible and are mainly used to gain an effect, boon, or apply a condition
- without that phantasm dps, we aren’t viable in any situation
Guesting has not been activated yet.
Gems are abnormally cheap right now if you ask me… 510 Gems is roughly $6.00USD worth, no?
are you sure they aren’t bags of butter and chocolate in bulk…
Are the fruits of your money making labour gear? If that’s so, you’re probably doing something wrong. Yes, you can make gear at 80 and it will be at the same level as any other level 80 piece, however I think the primary method of obtaining gear is through explorable mode dungeons, and karma.
There are vendors within Cursed Shore/Malchor’s/Straits that sell pieces of gear for a hefty karma fee, as well as the vendors in LA that sell armour for, again, a large sum of tokens. The gear you would really only need to buy things for is a legendary, which in and of itself is a journey…
Not to mention PvP gear.
P.S. That person isn’t 13% stronger than you, his stats = your stats, they are just allotted differently, i.e. 400precision/400 power can also be 200prec/600pow; both configs have 800 stats. The system is best explained by just looking at the PvP armour vendors in HotM.
I wish crafting areas be removed and afkers flagged to force a log out. Waiting 4 hours to get into WvW battles is not making for a fun time.
I’m fairly certain that players are forced out if inactive for a period of time in WvW. It’s happened to me, although that could have just been a coincidental bug. If you’re waiting 4 hours to get into WvW, try not queuing for the Eternal Battlegrounds or for the highest pop server of the three.
