Well I probably would not care about it much. However, no one can say that Anet has not put a significant amount of money and time pumping out skins into that black lion chest-and then having abysmal drop rates. Money that could go to development elsewhere, or produce skins that could just be outright sold, or you know to better content. Anet is greedy, welcome to gw2. I mean its unhealthy But you know, you take the good with the bad. The more you know!
It seems all an all a lazy fix. I am sure they put a lot of effort into simply making things smaller and thus harder to see. I would rather they replace all effects back to normal, and make an option. It may cost more, but it also doesn’t completely gut visuals on people who can both see through them, and enjoy their presence. I mean the new visuals are almost INVISIBLE to the eye in the middle of combat, and to me that’s worse then potentially making it hard to see. Simply put, in pvp(and in life), the things you don’t see are what kill you. The new visual nerfs are a complete waste of effort on arena net’s time, and are not making the game better by any precedent. I sound harsh, and I do not mean to be. It is just one of the worst changes happening to this game.
I’m am just going to chime in on my pure displeasure at the Grand master Lingering Light Change. Both Aesthetically and Mechanically I adored said trait. This new version has me worried. We know its going to have a very long cool down and we also know blind is not the most potent condition(and yet consistently is very hard to apply), and we in essence just lost a big tool for healing our Allies who are ranged-Consistently. In one swoop my favorite trait in the game is gone…Can I at least request that you leave the healing wisp around the effected allies? I’m going to miss my Wisp Friend on my own character, I even had a name for it. It was Wispy, and now I have to bury my best friend….
Why do the Elitists like to throw around “Git-Gud” like it will somehow invalidate any arguments to the contrary. Let’s face it, the exclusive set will probably just be particle-effects, but none-the-less maybe that’s something that a good player wants to work for. Except lets paint this with some truth. They will never obtain it. So far the tournaments have been locked behind conventions and physical money obligations. There are players even better then those that are currently in the running, hundreds of times better. They however do not have the sort of cashflow that the current esports teams have. Let alone the ability to fly overseas to participate in these current running. So the term git-gud does not apply. Being the top player in the world does not net you the set. In fact it Net’s you nothing but a chance(If you have the money) to participate to get the set. So lets call it what this is, its Pay to wear armor. Yes you have to have some skill, but you need a lot of money too. How this is “good for the PVP” community I am unsure. I’m all for competitive rewards, but lets not pretend that this reward is in anyway completely related to skill when money does factor in a lot. Anet is not paying these E sport’s fanatics to fly over to Germany. Again, all for really competitive things. But people should stop throwing around the git-gud argument. It makes them look juvenile.
That looks like armor that is not obtainable for Player Characters. In this game there are a lot of NPC’s that do not follow the same rules as players, especially in regards to weapon’s/armors and professions. If it was player obtained it would certainly be ether the Sylvari Cultural armor, or Nightmare Court armor as those are the only plant based armors. Hope that helps.
I logged on just to add to this conversation. The New system is entirely bullocks. The trait reset thing I quite nice and all, but I do not feel that in anyway justifies the utter middle-finger given to new players. I recently decided to make a warrior to level with my friend who just joined the game. The task ahead of us is infuriating. It would take WEEKS to unlock all the traits in this game(unless your rich and have a lot of skill scrolls). Let alone for a brand new player like herself, she has to constantly ask me “What should I get” and there is no options for her to try new things. Literally, I feel upset when she says “I wanna do this” and I have no basic reply-because all of her traits are locked in areas she will not see until she is 80. Certain classes by the way rely on traits to a very heavy degree(ele’s I know for a fact need them). These changes were painful and need to be changed. Theres a lot of things I wanna buy in the cash shop, with real money but I simply can not do it-Not with these settings in place. It would be easier for me to sell my liver on the black market then go through the new Leveling+Trait system. Honestly, It’s simply rubbish. Anet should feel ashamed. Shame on them. Also this discourages new players and Alt making-Ill be darned I ever make another character.
Short and Sweet Scepter Concept:
Quick Debrief: The Scepter needs to fill a variety of roles, and at the moment fills none. The Roles it would be great at filling are defensive support, control, and defensive conditioning. Unlike the Staff which focuses on Random boons and conditions, the scepter is more about direct aid and salvation through stopping rather then buffing allies.
Skills:
1. Ether Infusion-No Projectile instant-hit(Like Necromancer Scepter and Axe) surge on target, causes 2 stacks confusion(brief Duration), minor damage
——->Ether Blast-Cause Target to explode, cause confusion on aoe(1 stack brief duration), maximum of 3 targets near Minor Damage
—————>Ether Surge-Cause target to further explode in a larger aoe(5 targets max). The target foe gets a clone spawned on it which attacks with chain. The Explosion heals allies lightly who are close to target.
2. Empathic Block-Create a Aura of Energy that blocks multiple attacks on all allies in the vicinity. Mesmer receives a portion(5%) of the damage that allies and self would have suffered. It can has 2 end effects based on whether it is activated, or allowed to end on it’s own.
————->End-on-own: Chaotic Inertia-The Mesmer radiates a wave of healing that restores health equal to the damage that the Mesmer sustained. Causes Torment to nearby foes.
—————>Activation: Chaos Membrane-The Aura hardens into a wall of energy, creating a ring that allies can cross but enemies can not. The Wall can be damaged, and has health proportional to the damage the Mesmer received before activated. Foes inside the ring gain confusion(1 stack) every other second.
3. Confusing Images-The Mesmer radiates a wave of chaotic and psychic energy from the desired foe. That foe and those near it receive stacks of confusion so long as the Mesmer channels the spell. Allies in range of the Waves inflict confusion when struck by foes, as well as gain regeneration whilst in range of the waves.
Quick Explanation: The Scepter turns into a supportive weapon whilst still retaining heavy bits of Cease and Desist. This means that the Opponent has to be weary of attacking when the Mesmer begins to channel the second and third attacks. It still applies heavy amounts of confusion which garner a certain array of protection and grant allies renewal through direct healing, rather then buffing them(like the staff). It also turns the scepter into an AOE weapon, with multiple ranges and much more direct tricky concepts to play with. It avoids stepping on the toes of other weapons to much, and still leaves the off-hand to be equipped to fill the gap of the build you want(damage, more support, confusion). It also synergieses well with the Malicious Sorcery trait as it still keeps conditions as a part of the scepter. The Idea is to turn the Scepter into a more direct trickster weapon, and not revert it into a typical attrition-condition weapon. It is not about surviving longer then your foe for your conditions to take hold(like the staff). Rather the scepter is about stopping your target from eating you alive. With massive amounts of active defense, and confusion foes would be unwise to attack you(but the scepter would in turn be far less damaging). Its real strength shines when they do use a skill.
Short sweet and over.
(edited by frostflare.6390)
How about this: Lets not have an elite that Knocks foes out of it’s aoe, that also counts for it’s projectiles. It makes no sense to force people away from you, and then none of your skills work. It also Reduces are speed massively(which if that was gone and granted swiftness that would be great).
ALSO-Let it effect 10-20 targets. Sorry, but in wvw it’s a death sentence, it will only hit 5 foes, who can just range you down. Tornado is garbage…and I can see why.
There are two points I’d like to make, regarding recent posts in this thread.

It’s a matter of personal taste, but I’ll never play a subscription game again, because subscription games are designed to slow you down….far more than a game like Guild Wars 2 is.
I dissagree-At least to a point. Anet would never convert this game to a sub-fee game. Ever-It won’t happen. If they did the backlash, and the damage it would cause there company would be irrepressible. Simply put, anet made its name on being a Buy Once, Play forever with a cash store. Now-That said, It sort of is moot to compare Gw2 to a sub based game. Yea Sub games were horrible, but This is not much better. A cash shop is great-But I question HOW did anet have a cash shop that kept gw1 alive as long as it did(and still alive mind you)?-Yet never once did you need to get out your credit card to look decent. You had to pay for expansions(BUT THEY WERE STAND-ALONE GAMES! All but 1) Anet made bank in gw1, So I’m not sure why they seem to be so “strapped” in gw2.
The game feels like a starving wasteland. The cash shop is overbearing on the players . It screams with the temp content “I’m your only hope!” And even then its not a guarantee. Part of business is SUSTAINING business. Anet Should want to make players “want” to play the game. Also people spend more money when they want to, not when they feel they have to. Business is not difficult-people are like sheep. If you poison the herd though-There goes your cash cow. Anet does not seem to grasp this.
They truly don’t. I can’t tell you how many players I used to love to group with who wont come back because of Rng boxes. Or players who really loved a temp content and now its gone forever. I know I myself bitter because F&F actually carried a very important and interesting STAT combo in it-which btw as far as anyone knows is never coming back. My server is poisonous, They warn new players to leave the game, and spit and hiss. The game is not in a bad state yet-But Cash shop has a very STRONG bearing on everything in this game. Not just statistically or cosmically. But The environment that players interact with each other in is altered by it too. There is a reason why many Ramshackle towns fight, and few get along. People get bitter, and angry when they feel starved and stressed. For a casual player like me-I am stressed from gw2. Part of my enjoyment is looking good. I step out for 2 weeks-AND BAM missed something forever. The armor skins, the weapon skins, the dungeons Those need to be permanent. They make new players look at the game and say “WOW-the developers have just made this game better and better, meaning more for me to do”. Rather then “WOW-I wish I was there for that event a year ago-I feel bummed now”
It is a oxymoron that anet says “Living story is to enhance the core game” and yet nothing is effect the core pve game other then mechanic overhauls. It dissipates in 2 weeks and is gone forever. The core never keeps it-It never strengthens it. I’m sorry, its a weak excuse that I can’t believe smart players buy into. Its not even the expansions. Anet could do living story for 10 more years, and maybe it will be great. Yet they are using the living story to sell the cash shop-and through this they are poisoning the environment. They dump sludge in the river that powers the building they work in-I only question how long till the sludge dams it. The cash shop is great-If people want to buy from it. This last update had so little range it was great. They even offered armor straight buy. Awesome. I hope anet continues this-and stops the cash shop from being the most important aspect of the game. Where it sits right now. All is balanced off it-even skill balance. Anet seems to be pulling away from that-I’m glad. I just hope it stays like that.
You know-I agree, The op made a mistake and it cost him. He made a faulty choice. What I don’t agree with is that Anet ENCOURAGES such scamming. I know it’s not supported, and he does not deserve his stuff back. But People Should be Banned for doing what The Scammer did. Perma Banned even. Its EXPLOITING Players, which is a form of exploiting. What I find most disgusting is everyone here seems to be “defending” the scammer. Like “Well, Its ok that he screwed you over-cause Unless you read the forums you don’t know that Mail is not for trading. He’s doing gods work he is”. Why defend a theif? Thats like locking the Woman who saw a murder in jail, but leaving the murder to kill again. Its sick-Anet should at least Put a handle on doing things like that. Op does not deserve his stuff back, but the player deserves a perma ban-Forever and a Day!
Let’s face it, with everything said, people want to play WoW(or any other MMO that hey liked) in new skin. People don’t want new experience because they are condition by their first MMO they loved. It’s only logical, and honestly it’s quite a shame people act like this. I feel sorry for Anet devs since they are really trying to cater to everyone while trying to bring new ideas and inovation into pretty stale genre. And this is what I hate the most, people say how they hate WoW, but every feature I see that people want is exactly like in WoW.
Just want to say, ANet I really hope you can pull of this idea, it’s really great concept, but you need to show them(players) that jan, feb, march, april, may updates were just testing phase.
Liking Meaty Content is not something that is conditioned by wow. I never played wow-I played gw1~Which as you know was made by Arena Net. I will just put it out there that throwing around “If your not an Arena Net fanboy, you must be a wow-fan” is sort of pathetic. It undermines your intelligence, and everyone elses.
Living story is great, but its filler. None of it has had a lasting impact, nothing has left Permanent change(bar southsun being left to be a rotting hole in the ground-No one goes there.). A lot of it has been wow catered by the way. I am not sure how you can spout how much you dislike wow content, and then defend content witch is pretty much wow incarnate. Go kill 250 Karka/Go kill 250 Rats. I mean, let’s be honest, this content has it’s place. It does not have the same effect, or enjoyment of an actual expansions. So far anet has renovated actually very little. The base game-Yes, it was very new and fresh and cool. The Living story-NO. It is not new to the genre. It’s just wow skin(the pve at least). You can watch the world all day with rabid Fanboy tinted glasses, but a dose of reality helps here and there. Anet is not perfect, and a lot of players are saddened because they made a decision which may ultimately hurt the game. Rng Boxes are souring the community, the gem store is drawing in a lot of agro-and expansions are a great way of revitalizing and refreshing the game. Keeping it fresh and adding more. The living story would be better if it actually HAD impact, had something happen. It feels disjointed, rocky, and the quality has been terrible. Bugs slip through-But Bugs as big as the Aether blade Dungeon where One boss has to die before the other should be tested. THE FIRST THING: A qa team should do is kill the boss your not supposed to kill first. Which clearly they did not test. I still have not completed the dungeon because of that bug where someone kills horrick and he never resets and so Mai just runs around in God-Mode.
1. The lack of gw1. Anet made a new game and said “Were taking the best aspects of every game to make the best MMO”-And yet…They overlooked one of the best Games ever. They took game advice from TeamFortress 2, and never took half an attempt to look at gw1. There was so much great about gw1, that they never even bothered to bring back. Alliances, Skill Diversity, Great story(that Felt involved, It was your story, not trehearne’s). Lore was great, the environments were robust. The Community was kind and loving because the developers truly took their time to create a magnificent game.
2. Temp content-I like a little filler. Its great, but Give me substance. Baby Food is not eaten by adults for a reason! The amount of quality in these quick updates is terrible, with broken dungeons and the like.
3. Lack of Variety.-All medium armor is trenchcoat, All male light armor is “layers upon layers”. Men are STuck in plate mail, and woman get chainmail bikinies. The amount of unfair sexism in the veriety of this game is kitten nt. I hate how Men have to strive to look good, but woman can just be good cause they can not strive to cover up. There are too little skills and armor, and weapons. It’s getting boreing.
This is entirely Disheartening. This game makes me hate logging in more and more-But I can’t stop logging in because of living story. Otherwise is miss something permanently-forever gone. Some things were actually statistically valid(sentinel gear for example).
Now, I won’t discredit Arena Net so far. They are doing something amazing, in the fact that they are making content every month. So far the quality has been slowly increasing, and that’s a good sign. It’s not great yet, and this last update left a bad taste in my mouth with the broken dungeon. But still, it was something neat. My problem with it so far is that the Quality is still quite low. Gw2 came out of the gates strong, and with every update the “energy” put into it seems to dwindle. The lack of direction worries me as well.
Expansions were my big hope. Not even the whole “race” thing. But expansions were going to be large massive updates. Massive things that make a world more robust and interesting. So far the game has be doing terrible in this regard. All content is cheap and short lived. Nothing about these updates has really felt like an impact in the world. I mean, No one still goes to southsun. The Molten Alliance left no impact on the world. Further more “Our Story” has dropped off the face of the world. We have far ascended past the “were adventurers” stage, we lead an army, general of the pact. Yet none of this is referenced, not even given existence. Like it never happened.
Expansions were going to be my big hope. Something to keep me busier then a week. Dungeons with New mechanics that stayed, New dungeon armor, new ways to go about the game(new weapons), just new things in general. The living story is fun, but it’s getting tiresome and on my nerves. None of it feels special, none of it feels like it has an impact.
Also I was not expecting an expansion within this year. Games normally take 2 years to get the core game set before they make an expansion. Seriously though, anet please do not forgo this method. I know I will gladly pay 90 dollars for an amazing expansion vs. 10 for your rng boxes of hell. I hate rng boxes, and I can’t believe they won’t make expansions. They clearly are profitable(not to mention they get the game to interest even more players)-And anet refuses to tap into that money. Not telling them how to make money, but it seems like a bad idea-and they are going to lose some players to this “no expansion” talk. I heavy portion of people like well rounded, well created, and great content all at once, rather then mediocre untested-and low quality dribble every week. Even if they waited 3 months to release living story that would be better then every 2 weeks. More time=More testing time, better QA.
This is a great idea. If someone wants to grind out to get thier legendary faster-Then let them buy the precurser. The rest of us, Can not afford 700gold precursers. Seriosly. A legendary should take months to complete. So far everything be completed in a year or so with effort. Except the precurser. If it never drops-Your never getting a Legendary, end of story.
Yea…The zhaitan battle was….I can not even describe it. I had more fun in beta killing snakes-which are now missing btw…Or at least I have not seen one since beta(I miss the snakes to. They were fun to shock cause they would twitch and flick and do all sorts of crazy things when electricuted). Anyway yea…Zhaitan was a failure. Seriosly his luitentents were harder…Also I was prayign traherne would die-Cuase…idk, I hate him. He gets all the credit, and he just sits there with a magic sword. We have to actually work hard with weapons not forged from a magic tree.
I think it’s kind of cute that people are still so tied into the “Mages=X” when we have Necros who do actually cut you with their daggers, and Mesmers who do cut you with their swords.
If anything I want the Elementalist to get a weapon NEITHER of the other casters have. The Necro can use an axe/warhorn, Neither of the other two can use that. The Mesmer can use Torch, Pistol, and Swords. So far every single weapon the ele has is used by the other two. We don’t have anything that stands out as Unique in our arsonal. So I am all for rifles, Maces, Sheilds(Although that would verge to far into Foci’s domain), duel pistols(has one up on the Mesmer), Shortbows, Longbows, and Hammers.
Those are all equaly viable. But as I said before-Rifle. I already have all the skills I could think of created and listed out. I just don’t post them cuase I know anet won’t read them. But Fire could be a “Grenade/mine Gun” with emphisis on Pilars of flame, arcing globs of lava, and lava in genearl, Ice is our “Scatter Gun” with heavy single target-that explodes into spreadshot, wide control, and a heal. Air is a stun gun, with heavy melee damage, heavy control, and a very strong single target skill, and Earth is our “Sniper” in a sense. Long range-Stronger at range, Heavy defense, and good dot.
Also I disagree with the “Trait” issue some like to bring up. Our traits are conveluted and screwed up-I give you that. But becuase Attunments are what Tie our Alacraties and traits, NOT weapons(Unless you go arcana)-The ele has the easiest time gaining a weapon.
Also the warrior will always be the undisputed master of weapons(He still has weapon swaps, can swap fastest when traited, and can weild most weapons off-hand that others can not. He can duel-wield maces for example).
I think go for it. The More ways to obtain things the better. Not everyone wants to “Mystic forge” to eternity. If someone buys it for 90 G what is it to you. How is it effecting you? You already have it., and it is already soul bound to you. I mean, it is not as if you can turn around and sell it when you don’t want it.
Also you throw up gold statistics of the materials-But as anet as assured on many occasions, You should be grinding to get mats. You never have to go out and buy a single one. All of those can be obtained through time and playing the game and a bit of grind.
It really-really has no vital impact on the game. If skins go down in price it makes the accesible to the public. 90 G is still a lot of kitten gold. You act like that is a drop in the bucket and is so easy for the general public to get. THe richest person in my guild has 50 gold-thats after saving up since day one! I mean really, 90 gold wont get you far anyway. I mean legendaires are what 19000 Gold a peice? Precursers are worth more I think(don’t qoute me, I am probably off by a landslide). But still, 90 gold will take to to accumulate.
Its not wort the investment for me. I love dungeons, I really do. But I also want my character to be “my character”. You need gold to do that, and dungeons are just~meh. I also have rng issues, so that doesnt help. And then theres the fact that Anet’s balancing with dungeons is subpar. Some encounters are just pathetnicly easy. Some are ungodly difficult(Looking at you Gigantus)….I mean that took me 2 days to properly defeat him(with brakes and rage quits mind you). But still. And All I got out of that investment was a blue sheild. A blue sheild.
Like that was the best gift ever. A BLUE SHEILD. It wasnt even level 80 either. It was like 78. After that I said no more dungeons. If someone in the guild asks, yes-But I wont go out of my way to do it for no gold~
I don’t agree the ele is op. It has it’s strenghts, but doesn’t every class? I mean, Warriors can go pure glass, and still have More armor and health then us.
Note that does not justify anything, but it does go to reckon that Eles have strenghts. We are mobile, we are fast, and we can survive. Nerfing us and no one else is wrong. If our strenghts are nerfed, and our weaknesses not buffed~Idk it just seems incredibly stupid. If you build a way, your good in that way.
But Even Bunker eles can be killed-and anyone running around saying they are invincible is plain wrong. I hate stealth theives, and they annoy the kitten out of me, but They can be killed(some of the time). Bunker eles have weaknesses, for example if they go up against another bunker build there will be no victor. I have also seen bunker eles one-shot by a glass rifle Warrior. So I mean, there must be some way to kill them.
I am against this gung-hoe. The way it is now is not great-But it certainly does not lock weapons into traits. You don’t have to be a FIRE ELE to weild a staff right now. If we go along the proposed ideal-That would mean that if I ever want to be Faster usesing a staff, I HAVE to be a fire ele, I have to take that power trait. That is wrong.
Then we get pushed back into 3-builds that everyone runs because everything else sucks.
Fire/Arcana Staff ele
Air/Arcana Dagger Ele
Earth/Arcana Scepter Ele.
That is way to limiting. Not to mention I have 2 alacrities, Hydro and Geo and combined with fast attunment swapping I actually USE all of those on cooldown. Yet in the middle of a dungeon if I need more survivability I can grab my focus and scepter and still work it. I am not locked into being a staff fire ele. It would just really harm the ele if anything.
I play and ele, I understand the duel standerds. Everyone fears the ele~and its unprecidented. Our 10 extra skills in battle does not really make us gods…It doesnt. On top of it, anet likes to nerf us becuase of our versatilty, so I don’t understand the fear.
Its not canthan in the least. And the african themes of Elona are still very pressent. Also on top of that, the canthan district was removed before beta. No one played in that district during the beta. The hole has been there since we saw playthroughs of Divinties reach. It was in there even during the game conventions. Theres a diffrence.
Canthan District was destroyed prior to release, but vastly prior. People played in it, but they would have been inside testers and the game designers. It was removed for cultural reasons(Not good ones imo), but this armor is still IN GAME. I mean its there, its not gone. The just removed it from the PVE and WVW side of the world…Which is insane when its still present in the pvp world. So its not the same situation at all. Anet just removed it from a single aspect of the game. The district was removed from all of the game. Cantha is barely talked about anywhere. Big diffrence, at least as I see it. It is not the same rational.
Also this armor is clearly witch-doctor-ey. But even then, this wich doctor phenomena is not just african in nature. Witch doctors exist in South America too, as well as in New Orleans. So if that was the “reason” they should have removed it from the entire game.
My bigger guess is that there was a code-error, and instead of fixing the error or bug, they just replaced it with a diffrent armor. Becuase that was the easy way out, and justified becuase they had to get the game out of the doors. Thats just the theory though. It probably is not true, but again. Please anet, add it back.
Please add this. Please, Its not a hard fix, and its a pretty armor that im sure people all over are dieing to get there hands on. Its crazy that it was in game, and now its not. Why do that?
Dagger Focus is a great idea. My only recomendation is to grab a long range conjure. The main reasion is that dagger focus lacks any range. Whilst dealing good spike, and you gain the best survivability offered in the ele’s arsonal, your lack of damage in a distance could be dangerous. I don’t recomend full cantrip, mainly becuase you already have heavy control and defense from the focus. Mistform, Icebow, a summonable elite, and something of your choice.
The elite grants you dps, and something for your oppoenet to go after when you need that safety net. Mistform is just too good to pass up, and Icebow gives you fatnastic range, heavy control, and decend dps. It also lets you support at a range when your not in the position to jump head deep into combat. Quick example, your hurt badly, and smothered in conditions. You do no one any good dead. Take a step back, conjure your bow, unleash hell, heal up, get back into the fray. By the time you have used up the bow, youll have it recharged. The recharges go fast, so you always have that option.
I want a rifle…Thats all I want. No greatsword, No sword. if they add them, fine. But we deserve a rifle. ITs not heavily used(ALMOST EVERY CLASS HAS THE WEAPON), and its we dont have a gun-mancer yet. The Ele is perfect for it. She currently weilds only “magical weapons”. Even the dagger is very magical. I want a gun, I want the ele to move into a new era. I run around with the frost gun everywhere….I have over 6 stacks of it in my bank. I will run it till I get my own gun.
I think aoe should be uncapped and be done as Wow does it. Blizzard even used the DR aspect in Warcraft 3. IT WORKED. I disagree that the cap should be entierly removed, but I think if 20 people stand in the lava font, all 20 deserve to get burned. They stood in the font. Now that damage could be spread out over the 20, whatever, but the point remains, it still hit 20 people.
If you completly uncap it, you give zergs more power as well as small groups. Which means a zerg of 20 eles would decimate everything.
I think a funnier issue here is that everyone fears the ele with the AOE cap. Yet as it stands, the slaughtering theives, or lets not forget the Super powerfull warriors are entierly ok. I think every class should have its talents in wvw, and Eles with a staff are always going to be the best support and defenders. They have range, aoe, and heals. Staff eles are good at that, but good luck in a battle one on one against a warrior who can one shot you(and your running pure Earth and water). There should class balance.
Back to topic. Gw2 is…or was worth the 60 dollars I dumped in it. I can play till the day It dies. A game that lasts for more then a month, is worth more then 60 dollars. It was alot of fun. I enjoyed leveling 2 characters.
The game came out of the woodworks with some unimaginable flaws. My first character was broken after she hit 30 becuase of story-bugs which pretty much broke her in everyway. I rebounded though and dried other things.
The game was fun. I have issues with the way anet is handling the cash shop, and some of the optional grind is just a tad tooo insane. I had to make my boyfriend do the “super box”. I got fed up within the first hour, and just gave up after I learned the diffrence between a bubble bauble and bauble.
The grind for some trivial appearences is just…ungodly. Anet also tends to make very big cash cows(Legendaries being one of the biggest). I want them to make money I do, but I hate the overbearing feeling of the game. I feel like I am “crap” when i don’t have a legendary. Which I dont have, I burn myself out trying to get one…and hence I did not play the game for nearly 3 months. That grind…is…to…much. I would rather give up my kidney then waste my soul at it.
Other then the overbearing greediness(which is just my oppinion. take it as that alone), the game is great. PVP needs some great attention, and I wish anet would start takeing feedback from the suggestions forum. They do not seem nearly as ivolved as they did in gw1.
Gw1 was also much more fun, and I felt the designers pressence in the game. I do not know how to describe it. Every plant, every skill, every piece of dialoge~It just felt like a small group of people pushed themselves to extreams for the players. I never saw a single anet employe(Which does not mean they are not there, I just never saw one). Yet I knew they were there. They were warm and loving. And when we asked for something, like make-over kits~They said “We don’t know how” and then a week later showed up and said “FOr you guys, we would slave ourselves”. That company I wanted to put money in. The cash shop never poped up in game and said “BUY FROM ME OR ELSE”.
Gw2 I don’t feel the designers care about the players. They care about the game, but I don’t feel they take any feedback seriosly as I have seen it. That said, My belief is the error with the game lies in the company and the cash shop. The rest of the game is beautiuful and contains many styles for many people. I mean everyone has a niche somewhere…and it will just get better. I just think that anet needs to fill its old shoes, and get back into the grove. The game is under 1 year of age, so I understand it will take time.
Well, comeing from me personaly. I think for all the money they cost-They should be exactly what is suggested. A skin-Complete with a “Transmute” over feature.
They don’t need stats, and for all that price anet should not also say “Ohh and your going to ahve to pay use 10 dollars to have those be usefull too.”
I am fine with the price as is. They are supposed to be prestigious. But can they at least come equiped with a free transmute? Fine stones ain’t cheap! At least not for a casual who had to work for 8 months to get the dam armor, only to find out it’s crap compared to what he has.
But that’s my humble oppinion. May I also suggest everyone to get off the Op’s back. It’s sort of insulting to come in here with a high and mighty “well you want it easy, so go burn in hell” attitude. Forums are places for shareing ideas, and point out things.
The op merely pointed out that the Tier 3 Rare’s from cultural armor vendors does not have good stats, and for the price it should. Which I agree. It’s should. They cost over 100 gold, and thats not easy to get. It’s not. They should be prestigeous, and worth the cost!
In my head it doesnt make sense. Say Sitting in front of me are 2 can’s of Tuna fish. 1 is 14 dollars, one is 27 dollars. The first one has better taste, but it’s can is dreary and manged. The second one is plated in copper, and looks nice, but taste like dirt.
All the Op is suggesting is that the 27 dollar can of Tuna, taste good too.
Is that really such a big deal. One person points out a flaw, and here comes anet’s mighting guardians who rush in and swarm like phirana with nothing but “It doesnt matter” as excuses. It’s not that big of a deal, but it’s still a deal.
Why not just disable the use of Skill-consumables in Dungeons? I mean-would that have been to hard?
Heavy Armor chronomancer. Complete with Time bubbles. I’ve always wanted a chronomancer. But Albeit idk if gw2’s design could handle it. Tera for example would work well with a chronomancer. But gw2, I don’t know.
PLEASE-PLEASE-PLEASE. Omg, yes. Finaly someone said it. Plus 10000000(if I could). I have no idea why it was removed. It’s one of the most polsihed armors in the game. And I can only imagine an earth ele dressed in that gear. It would look great.
Id Agree with this. Air Staff, feels, for lack of better word-Muddy. It really doesnt know what it’s doing. Lets break down the skills,
1-Chain Lighting-It’s actually a pretty powerfull attack, but ONLY if theres 2 targets. Add more then that, and suddenly its pretty useless. Add lesss, and were back at point one, useless.
2. Lighting Surge- Ohh Wow, an aoe blind. That should be very usefull, but it’s Charge time, and small range combined with it’s high recharge sort of negates that use. It also does not hit very hard.
3.Gust-A knockback. Should be great. But wait, it’s not. it’s the WORSE SKILL EVERY THOUGHT OFF. No really, I mean it-I hate gust. It’s so slow it never hits, it can be straf dodged, and doesnt even do what it was ment to do. Gust Used to Knockback in a line-Meaning anything in that projectiles path was flung away. That’s usefull. But Anet nerfed it to death, for some bizare reason, and now its a high recharge, low use utility skill at best. Ohh and it does no damage. Sort of bizzare don’t you think for Air attuenment, which should be HIGH DAMAGE AND CONTROL.
4. Windborn Speed-Look, I love swiftness, I do. But this skill has no part in combat. We already have a rain spell that will get rid of all those condtions. Lets also tack on Ele’s are the masters of condtion removal. Do we need yet another skill which removes contions. Only this time, very specificaly? Yea, we all love swiftness, but if you trait into air(which you have to to utalize any of these worthless skills)…then suddenly Swiftness becomes redundent. WHY!?
5. Static Feild-Well it’s a great skill, in theory. But only That. Static feild has one hell of a cooldown, and for only brief control and damage. But sadly, I would say it’s the best skill on Air ele staff, and I would not change it. It suits an Air elementalist.
Air elementalist posses the most destructive, and powerfull of the elements. Unlike fire, Air and lighting can actually push. Fire is hot yes, but Air is everywhere. it is everything. Air should be alot like it used to be. Air is powerfull, damaging. It controls very well too. But It has it’s weaknesses. I have idea’s to help this. But Anet would not listen. They seem to think Air staff is great. Which I don’t understand. It’s not broken no, but it would do well with polish.
Legally he is right. You have no power. But that should not discourage you, anet does alot of crazy(and sometimes downright stupid things). But they sometimes(and on very rare occasions) backfile the bad and replace it with the good and old. So if you can create a following, start a petition, and bring this to someone’s attention. WRITE A LETTER IF YOU MUST. At the least anet should offer you, the option to choose which one you wanted, since you had worked so hard for it.
Again, anet does crazy, and insane things at times. We can all point to that special PVP only scholar armor that was IN THE BETA, but never released in the game. And now is only a pvp armor. See they do crazy things…One day they may actually release that cool skin to the rest of us players. 1 day!
I find this absolutly funny. You drew a great parallel. But to be honest I think anet put those lines in to pull in PVE players and entice Roleplayers. From the sounds of it, the mists wars are not like PVP where it’s a simple battle for glory. The mist wars are wars, and to your server, your defending your world, your reality against an onslought of evil doers. And let’s be honest here-if its red, its automaticaly evil. Anet trained us well.
Umm…Idk how I feel about this. Voice in game? Awsome option. Have it cost gems? Maybe-So long as its not subscription based.
DDO is a Free To Play game, and has one hell of a voice chat system in game and it costs you nothing to use. The game requires you to pay at some point, but you pay for content at higher levles. You never feel obligated to pay for voice chat. Which I think is wrong.
Voice chat should be in the game, and not cost anything. I say that for a reason. Anet does not need to “entice” us anymore with that gemshop. With Gems being converted to gold-Truely, I am sure anet makes thousands a day if not more. They have probably well over paid the original investment, and doing well. Otherwise this game would have stoped with monthly content.
Voice chat should be a given for an mmo. It makes the community feel richer, and kinder. In ddo, I have never had someone trakittenalk me in voicechat-but I feel that voice makes the tension and enviorment diffrent. People can speak there minds easier then type it at times.
So yea for Voice Chat-Neigh for a sub fee. I fit was like 100 Gems To use Voice chat for the rest of your account’s life. Im gung hoe-But no more! And defently dont require me to keep a sub fee going for it. That’s just turning gw2 into a wow clone. WIth a new type of Sub Fee.
I think Legendaries lost the prestige when they became buyable. At this point anybody with a job can just buy them. So, if you have a legendary I don’t think about respect right off the bat. I think either one of 3 things.
1. Wow, you just bought that with your paycheck. You so deserve it!sarcasm
2. Wow, you had time to grind through this game for 14 days straight 12 hours a day. You sure have a life!
3. Wow you took a few months to get the legendary. I can’t belive you actaully underwent such a wonky idea from anet. Looks nice though!(This is the only time i give MINIMAL respect to a legendary. All other times, no).
Well Anet already stated that they Intened ascended to be in(ascended are above Exotics in power). Although there are no weapons, YET. It can be pressumed that anet will eventually add said weapons. Legendaries, will at that time be RAISED to the level of the new weapons. They will always be the strongest you can get, no matter what. Exotics, will always stay where they are right now, always. They wont be the same level as ascended.
I think anet is trying to do a bit of Vertical and horizantal movment in the game. The problem right now is that the Horizontal movment sucks kittens, and for Vertical we get ascended*Ie which do improve your gameplay even by 10 points*. So If you dont ever want to have to fall behind in the Vertical Matters, you would nead legendary items.
That said, I think anet said something along the lines off “Were not adding more Levels anytime this year”. Which means were safe for now.
But I agree, it would be nice to quest, even if it takes 2 months to do, and is heavily gated. That would be fun, and enjoyable.
I am agaist the Bard Misntral/Preist. That sound increadibly…Dull? I think that anet tried very hard to avoid making one class to “easy” for new players so that the game doesnt become easymode. The failed a point, but just sticking heal-kittens back in the game is like Throwing gw2 off a cliff and then bombing it with a nuke. If you cant survive basic battle, learn to play. My ele is not a bunker at all, and she can survive most heavy hits.
My necro is heavily bursty, ands he can take a hit to. Warriors just laught and get beat on. Seriosly no need for such a class.
Now im not against another class(Id love a chornomancer, although they were absorbed into that dam Mesmer). But It has to be more creative and usefull then “IM A HEALER”.
The rest of the ideas, are nice.
Why not just give the rest of us the option? The pay way is fast, and expensive. Thats waht it is. The Story way could be long, 2 months long( a year is a little over exscesive). This does not deminish the legendaries for those that have them. They can still just buy more. If your a gold jockey, and sold your left kindey for a legendary you can buy another. Whatever thats fine.
Give the rest of us a way to HAVE FUN whilst getting it. As current its just patheticly redundnet. In Fact, If anet backs there belief this is so doable. I want to see them video tape it, day 1-finish with a brand new character. Seriosly. ANet can just cheat and give themselves one if they watned to. I want to see one of the devs sit down and grind through it. That would make me shut up actually.
I actually belive the current system should stay. It’s perfect for people who have lots of money, time, and can just sell there souls for them. I on the other hand don’t. Ohh and i buy gems by the way, becuase I like to help anet out.
Im simply stating, let there be an alternative. EVEN obi armor was not that much of a grind. It at most took a few weeks of minmial farming. DR means anet doesnt want us to farm-and yet the most majestic weapons in the game REQUIRE FARMING. Seriolsy anet, can you produce anymore of a catch 22? I’m doomed if i try to go for it, and if I don’t im also doomed to never have anything worthwhile. Legendaires are also required to a point. They will never be the weaker weapon, anet intends to make them the “Highest OUtput” always. And from the track record, we will be getting alot of new gear levels in the future. Your exotics will be trash by the end of next year.
My biggest issue is that because of the angle, Somehow the wonderful spam keeps missing fields. It goes at an angle and magical ignores them.
Signed.
I want to work for my legendary. I just want to do it in a diffrent way. Is that too much to ask for? Seriolsy, there are like 3 diffrent ways to get exotic armor(Drops, Crafting, and karma)…and yet Legendaries are only gold bought? I have no respect for that. Branding a legendary should say to me as a player “I worked hard for this, and I know how to play this game”. Not “I grinding in Orr for two days and used the rest of my paycheck to buy it”
Id love deathshroad, if only 1 thing changed. After playing the necromancer(not for long mind you), that 2nd hp bar, is litterly the best thing ever. Now, I would like there to be more then 4 skills. I would prefer there to be skills based on your current weapon when you go into deathshroad.
For example, DS Ax, your first two are based on the axe. And you carry a warhorn so your last two are based on warhorn.
I know it sounds ambitious, but I would prefer it to be a little less The same no matter what. It’s a wonderfull mechanic though.
I really really really really want The weapon, but I agree. Right now the only way to obtain them is to sell your imortal soul. Which is fine and dandy for those people with 7000 dollars in the bank to buy one. The rest of us want to “WORK” for it, but not play slots thank you.
I really think the current way should stay. Its fast for those people who are lazy, and have lots and lots of money. Which is fine. Now I will let you know, I tend to be sort of a “hater” on legendary holders, mainly becuase they always tend to try and show off there “kitten Ego”..but then suck at the game. So I give them hell. The sword doesnt make the swordsman. It has no inteligence of it’s own.
I think they should make it happenable for the rest of us with TIME requirments rather then gold. In my head, I agree with all your current ideas. You should have finished the story, finsihed all story dungeons, and finished map complition, got to a certain rank in PVP and got 100 badges of honor. Then after all of that(arguably all of it takes time, but is accomplishable) You have to find an “Legendary Historian”. This man comes to your personal instance, and sits there. There you can take on legendary storylines.
These questlines require 2 months to complete, allowing you only to finish 1 quest per week. Yes this is time-line gated. Yes, that seems bad. But this is to stop it from being something you can just grind to get. No, its gated, as the Historian can only uncover so much informaton per week. So each week he will drop you some mail and tell you “Hey, I’ve uncovered documents pertaining to X loccation, Head there and check it out”. All legendaries have there own set of quests, but they all follow another character adn follow the history of that weapon. But hey, this may take time, and thats great. But its accomplishable for the avarage man.
That would be so much better.
Anet stated in one of the blog posts about Town Clothes that anything the npc’s wore, could be Town Clothes. What baffles me, is that there is absolutly NO town armor other then what you start with. ANd you cant even replace your old town armor if you happen to lose it. Nothing. SO yes, more town clothes thank you.!
Cantha just has to come back. It just has too. I would do anything at this point right now to go there. I might even push someone off a cliff if it got me the expansion with cantha tomarrow.
Cantha was the most UNIQUE place in tyria to me. It introduced a sprawling metropolis that was litterly hundreds of years before it’s time. Yes, even I had trouble in Keining city. It was a nightmare. But you have to admit. WHERE ELSE did you feel that claustorphopic, confusing, and downright dangerousness. The city was slums, and it was dreary, and its atmosphere suited it so well.
Everyone can complain that tight corridors left them in tears. But I actually am off the opposite belief. The city was tight, cramped, and dreadful. In the best way possible. I mean, who where beleives slums are filled with rock gardens and giant mansions? It’s the slums! People stay close together, its safer in numbers. Even in awfull conditions, the slums were filled with evil men and woman, afflcited, kappa. It was dangerous. The only place that was not dangerous was a few “Heavily civiliced” area, and I want keining back.
Yes I want to have some pretty lands too. That island off the coast of the city is where I belive the “Rich Ministry” live. So that can be pretty to your hearts content. But the city was litterly enourmous(SPRAWLING NEARLY THE ENTIRE COAST). It was so perfect. Everywhere in gw2 feels open, and huge. No where do you feel that tight, compressed, rat-instinct. Seriosly, in Keining i felt like a rat-Running from predators. If I got backed into a corner, it was one hell of a fight. I think the greatest part of that, is that it worked with the slums. Anet unitentionaly attributed this filth, slum, depression, and danger to this survival instict. Even in those conditions, the slum-humans lived and found happyness where they could. They worked tirelessly, for meanial money(if any). It was a masterpiece.
Also the jade sea and Eschovald Forest are probably still recovering. They may be heavily recovered. Also we have to remeber the Petrification and Jade-if-fication had been around for a long time. Nuclear radiation doesnt disapear in a even 50 years. It takes a very very long time, and this is a life’s curse. But still, both were amazing and want to return. I WANT MY AMBER ARMOR BACK!
Shing Jea was also very pretty, with Mountains and vallies, seas, and farmland. Everything, it was just SOOOO precious. But I have this feeling that is arguably the most changed. It was protected under canthan law from canthans. But the Naga may not have been so happy with being pushed out.
Also as for a reason the Isolation barrier to go down. As everyone in tyria found out. THERE is no way for just one race to beat the dragons. I bet Bubbles is lieing deeper in the jade sea. Which by the way, Cantha as we saw it was only the kittenula, there was a bigger body further south. So if bubbles was destroying the country side-I think id take any help i can get. PRide or no pride. Canthan’s as a people have shown that they know what they can and can not handle, and will accept whatever help when they need it.
I am a 0/0/20/25/25-And I love it. People have this misconception that im a bunker ele, built for a hell of a lot of surivival. In a sense I am, but I actually built that way because the one line I wanted to be good with was awfull.
I hate air. I wanted to be a Storm Ele, with a focus on control, and damage. Then supplement that with healing. But I absolutly Despise the scepter, and the dagger, and Staff air attunemnts. Scepter is pretty much pure damage, dagger is heavy control(with that awfull number 2), and staff is just terrible. "Chain lighting, Surge, Speed buff, Static feild, and that terrible pathtic thing known as gust).
Eles should have many viable builds, rather then a select few. The D/D build just synergizes extreamly well, and its very easy to get a grasp off. You play the opposite of attrition. In the begining your at the weakest, but as you get going and rev up you become pretty much unkillable.
If Air was much more viable, with plenty of Stuns and dazes, and heavy damage, knockbakcs, etc etc. Then It would be much more used. In fact I am a water ele out of neccesity(becuase staff just can not synergize ith air, it can’t). Once they fix air, and make it less of a “Speed buff” and more of a “Control and Damage” option-then ill be happy.
Id jump ship. My orinal plan was to be a 30 Air, 20 water, 20 Arcane build with emphisis on control-then damage-supplemnted by healing and fast recharges. I tried the build out for a while, and it falls to peices. Air is just soo useless.
Well I hate the airline. Air right off the bat was to be our “Control and Single Target Damage”-and yet. It really has no traits that alter the control aspects. All the traits give us more speed-Which im sorry. Is not neccacary. We have multities of ways of getting speed. We even get swiftness from a heal. Swiftness in dagger of hand and staff, speed signet. Swiftness on Attune Trait. Seriosly-BEING FASTER does not make us deal more single target damage or control better. UNLESS it is phsyicaly casting our air line spells faster.
Id love a grandmaster trait like “Zephyr’s Voice”-All your air spells cast twice as fast. Even if thats op-Still better then anything we have now.
Also Ele is not op. No one could convince me otherwise. Yes, we have alot of Aoe packets of damage, but even in full damage and beserker sets we deal what 2k a meteor? I see Warriors pull of 20K kill shots, and a theif the other day hti me for 14K with his Backstab. Yes we can unleash a lot of aoe, but the aoe does minor damage. So we have to unleash like 5 aoe’s for the damage of one killshot.
Eles deserve uber survivability considering we are weakened naturaly. We have No health, and No armor. We have no active defensive skills(Clones, Or deathshroud). We get no way out of combat(no stealth). Other then our natural air mobility skills, swiftness. Our most powerfull skills require start up time and we have to channel them(makeing us big targets). If not for waters high-healing we would litterly always be in downstate. Our healskills are toned down BECAUSE we can heal from water-soooo, if you want to tone down our traited regenartaion and healing, Then give our normal heals like 10k a proc. Seriosly, eles are not perfect in any build. Attrition yes, they are wonderfull. But how hard is it to knock an Ele off her pedastal. Even with pure toughness and healing, just immobalize, have a theif backstab her, and one killshot. Focus fire melts anything in this game, and the ele is the best case of that. Even in bunker.
The ele has problems-and she has her strenghts. It’s funny to see how just a few months ago we were writhing in agony on how underpowered the ele was, and now after the d/d build was founded and everyone kheelhauled over to it(I hate it myself) Suddenly the world over thinks ele’s can do everythign with utmost effeciency.
Just stating the obviousness-That is wrong. Even my support speced ele is less supportive then my Heal-Gaurd. But the difrence is that my Ele has more options in battle.
No back to the point. DO I WANT ANET TO LOOK AT CONJURES? HELZ YES. Look anet, look at them, fix them now. Fix them-Anything. Hell I’ll even sell you my kidney if you make them more appealing. From the get go with my ele, i got every Conjure and wanted to use them so much. They are awfull.
I do not see one class out there who has 4 utilites on there bar+and elite only there for gimmicks. Seriously. No class has 4 near usless skills that you would put on your bar only for laughs. I love the concept of conjure’s. I think the big issue though-is that lack of Synergy with traits.
Other skill-types we can get traits that effect them more. Like mist form dealing damage, or glyphs granting boons. The only trait that effects conjures as a whole(not counting specific conjure fire) is “More charges”. Which is so laughable. Since most of the skills have high recharge times.
Our elite is on the right track, but they need synergy. Seriolsy, what does the lava axe bring to combat you don’t already have? Fast speed? Got it, burnign reteat or dash got it. No blast finisher-has one leap.
I think our Conjures should do more then collect dust. It should be on anet’s priority list-becuase they do mater. 5 skills that are useless are still useless. To say “Becuase we don’t use them, anet doesnt need to think about them” Is like saying “Becuase johney fell down the stairs and I did not witness it, I don’t need to go help him to the hospital becuase he broke his leg”. They are importnat.
