Chiming in on this. Got rid of my bootcamp partition because GW2 was the only thing I used it for after finishing University.
Tried to install GW2 on my Mac partition today to see if anything changed at all.
Yes, something did indeed change but not for the better, sadly. I can’t even finish the download because the kitten launcher keeps RESTARTING MY ENTIRE MACHINE WITHOUT ASKING.
Been a Mac user for over 10 years now and this is literally the first and only time something like this ever happened. I’m not going to let anybody tell me that something is wrong with my OS when it’s clearly this disgusting pile of steaming kitten ANet calls their Mac client.
They better get their new native Mac client shipped sooner rather than later but I assume they will use it as a marketing tool with the new xpac because they don’t give a kitten about how their Mac player base actually feels.
Sword/Torch + Longbow is very viable when played with full Viper’s gear + Sinister Trinkets.
Since progress in the Living Story 2 Quest “Meeting the Asura” is impossible as well, I would assume that the “Knockout” needed to progress the quest is a “1” skill as well (probably hidden?) and therefore this one bug seems to be the root of an incredible number of cases.
Just tried it, didn’t work, wanted to complain but found this thread instead. Glad to see it’s not just me.
Here’s to hoping it will get fixed asap…
Still bugged.
I’m sitting on the airship for 30 minutes now. The Giants just stand there, frozen, like the airship. It won’t progress.
Google just brought me here. Can’t believe this is still not addressed.
I’ve never had a bugged GWAMM title, I finished 11/50 to finally get my diamond aegis right before the HoM got taken down. I just logged in, got this awesome mail from the golem that told me my “bugged GWAMM title” was taken away from me (which I never had) but with it, EVERYTHING is gone. It’s like I don’t even have a GW1 Account linked.
Can I please finally get my Diamond Aegis? I’ve been waiting way too long for this…
You should stop fighting. The Mac version will never get out of beta (quality).
The Mac beta is no longer officially supported, every question concerning the status of the beta or news about a native client don’t get answered (or they will tell you they don’t know or can’t reach anyone working on the Mac team).
If the officials don’t even know if there is anybody working on a native client I am sure that there will never be a native client. And to call the wine port a Mac beta is just to get more Mac people to actually buy the game—the quality of a wine port can never become better than it is right now (let’s not talk about the poor quality and performance issues here).
My advice: Stop hoping. Either you deal with the poor quality of the so called Mac beta until a better native Mac MMO launches or you just play something else. I did the latter. From time to time I come here to check if there is any official info about a native client but so far I leave disappointed every single time.
Video or it didn’t happen.
It will run bad. Spec independent. You will never get more than 30FPS playing solo. Never more than 20FPS playing dungeons. Prey to god if you want to have 5FPS instead of 3FPS when it comes to WvW battles.
The Mac client is a huge pile of crap since it’s not native and just emulated.
I have a brand new late 2013 27" iMac with Radeon Graphics and I never get more than 30FPS when being alone on a map. Never more than 15FPS in WvW. Actually never more than 3FPS when WvW Fights are going on.
Don’t tell me it’s about the hardware.
Prove me wrong and show me this Guild Wars 2 client on a Mac never dropping below 60FPS and I will believe you.
I quit the game some time ago. Although the game is a lot of fun and I love the guild wars universe, the quality of the mac beta client destroyed the fun for me.
To get a close-to-smooth fps you have to play the game on the lowest settings.
If I want to play a game of this graphical quality I’d rather play Minecraft.
This made me quit in hope the promise “The performance will be a lot better when Mavericks hits live” will be true. Yesterday I checked the forums to see what people were saying about the performance with Mavericks. Most of the people said that nothing has changed but there were two posts saying that they can play WvW with high settings really smooth.
Skeptical as I was after reading this I had to try out my self in hope those posts weren’t trolling. I downloaded the 25gb client and logged in just to realize »I got trolled«.
Not only by the posts in the forum but by Arenanet them self.
Nothing has changed. The performance did not change a bit.
There are ZERO official informations in this forum about how far the Mac client is.
No information if or when we can expect a native client.
No information if the performance will ever reach a playable level.
I immediately deleted the client again.
I hope there will be some official information about the mac client soon.
And you officials stop telling me you are trying to find out anything about the mac client.
This can’t be so hard to find something out unless there is a million people working in your office and you have no clue who to ask.
I am disappoint.
Whatever this Maverick is, is it going to bring some quality to the Mac Beta?
Do we finally get some information about a native mac client or at least information on “the future of gw2 for mac”?
Change the Render Sample to SUBSAMPLE.
The game looks like kitten but I got no crash since.
Thanks MARACARUS for pointing that out. Finally I can do the Jubilee Event and WvW without crashing every 5 min.
Same problem here. But it only crashes when there are too many players around.
Making WvW and the Jubilee Event impossible to play.
Would love to lvl up my char a bit faster by doing the Jubilee Events because everybody tells me it is extremely fast and Iam just like: yeah, as long as my game doesnt crash Iam getting good XP but since it crashes every 5 min and takes 2 min to relog every XP boost is just wasted (and the fun falls by the wayside anyways).
A quick fix would be really, really awesome!
