iMage: Boon and Condition

in Mesmer

I agree. The iMage is just too week. The fury also definitely needs to go as it does not fit in much with torch game play. Like someone mentioned, resistance would be nice. Mesmer is lacking in the condi removal department and the choices we have now are not that steller….also having that on torch would give me an incentive to run it more.

Moving forward with maps and events

I’d like to start off with this post saying I LOVE what Guild Wars 2 is doing with the new maps. It’s a great idea giving all the new maps meta events and giving the map an incentive to push it such as exclusive items to those maps or tons of chests.

That being said, I am worried about future content. As Anet adds more and more maps with different meta events, I feel like this will spread the player base more and more causing older maps or less relevant maps to become less populated and be pushed less than others. An example of this is Verdant Brink. Verdant Brink was a highly populated map on release, so many people pushed the events for it, a week or two later it died down. Everyone moved to Auric Basin and eventually Tangled Depths/Dragon Stand. I think it would be a good idea to add more incentive to people joining a map. One idea I had was to make a list of maps in any order, and make it the “map of the week/month”. Whenever that map is the map of the week/month, all the rewards on that map would improve such as moving all the mats up 1 tier or increasing exp or karma or just pretty much anything that would cause players to want to hang around that map and do events. This would work well with older maps because if you offer something like bonus Karma or Gold or Exp or even improved mats, most players would flock to that even if its a level 10 zone. Additionally adding something like this to the game would guarantee older maps don’t die out. The devs put in a lot of work on maps and its a shame to see them go to waste.
Anyway that’s just my two cents, comments and opinions always welcomed.

Dear Devs,
The hunt for Nightfury continues! But alas, many of us grow weary and are starting to lose hope. Is there any way you could give us a hint? Even a small one. Something or anything that may gave us hope in this bleak quest. We’ve (as a community) done well uncovering as much as we have. So one little hint please? If not, can you at least confirm whether or not this item is available for the Halloween season only? Many of us are confused on this subject and have not received a direct answer.
-Thank you for your time

Thoughts on druid

This is a much better thought out implementation of the role then what we are actually getting.

The sad part is that these were my immediate thoughts after the elite showcased. It took devs how long?

I do not main Ranger, however I have logged quite a few hours on them (as well as all the other classes) and I feel that the druid spec went a little over the top with the heals. While I do like the idea, to me it seems a bit redundant having a base form that has strong heals and then when in celestial form you have overkill heal skills. The Dev mentioned that druid was designed based on raid necessity and realistically, if you need to push out that many heals, the state of the raid worries me. I don’t want to make too many suggestions on druid as I have not played it yet, but I feel like SOME change is necessary for this elite specialization. I believe what the Devs have here is the perfect flagship for an active support style!
My suggestion

  • Make the base form and base glyphs healing focused with condi clears and utility type stuff with party boons like swiftness and might and protection regen ect
  • Make the celestial form and glyphs an ACTIVE support by providing stuff such as damage reduction for the group, causing debilitating condis such as weakness, durability (maybe slows taunts snares imobilizes ect)
  • Switch the base glyph elite with the celestial glyph elite
  • Involve the pet more with the elite through traits or mechanics ( I know there is ONE druid trait but still there is minimal support with pets for the druid)

By implementing these changes, the two forms would be defined! One form for healing and party boons while one is for Active damage mitigation. This would cause the druid to make game changing decisions. “Do I remain in my healing boon form?” “Do I switch to my celestial form to deny my enemy damage?” These are the questions that the druid should ask himself otherwise it will almost always be a priority to change into celestial form for a heal fest with no skillful play involved.
Of course I will still play the druid in its current state on the BWE3 as to give it a chance and have first hand experience on its play style. Please share your thoughts with me on this matter.

Thoughts on re-released event items

I like the idea that certain rewards are given out if your there at the time and if your not you miss out.

While I also like the idea, I have come to the realization early in GW2 game life that it is not that type of game. Its not meant to be competitive or hardcore to an extreme level. That being said, I am fine with the current model they have. Additionally I do not think it would be fair to new players. While yes I would like that prestige to exist, i would not like it in that form as it would leave a sour taste in many players mouth. I think a better means of prestige would be through hard solo and group achievements that would provide a some sort of reward you could show off like a special skin or tittle. Ie: sometning like tge mini liadry achievement. Anyone who sees someone with it knows that player went through a lot to get it (other than those life siphon glitch but you get the point)

I agree with you on almost all points. As long as the rewards require the same effort to get I think its great they are brought back.

The only thing that concerns me is if they rework living story season 1 into s2 style, I think those items would be better fitting as rewards for completing that content, rather than being earned through unrelated events. What rewards will ls s1 have if everyone has already earned the old ones.

If i understand what you are saying, I also agree that i would be fine with making some items achievmemt bound (both in the traditional sense and in the S2 story line where they have item rewards for achievments within the story line) if done this way, at least they can make it more challenging to recieve those items, that people can keep some prestige on unique items without complaining too much (Think Liadry mini achievement)

I’d like to start off this post by stating that although I understand the feelings of players who want to have unique items and not have them re-released, I 100% support the decision to bring these items back every now and then.
I think its great that the Devs provide us with opportunities through out the year to have another shot at items we may have missed during limited events. I’m happy that they have the mindset that we can’t be online all the time or have the time or resources to complete all limited events so they provide alternatives when they can. They should continue to re-release these items as long as they maintain the cost to be on par as the first release. ie: The thoughtless and selfless potions are more or less on the same difficulty scale as the first time. (yes it is possible to get them quicker than the first time, but would require more farming)
My only complaint is that there should be a rotation of sort to propperly cycle through re-released items. Some items like the wings of the sunless have never been re-released. In my opinion, knowing what items are next on re-release gets more people excited for up coming events as they know there is an item they want.
What are your thoughts on this? Would be nice to hear from Devs too.

THE Power Build That Works

in Ranger

Posted by: george.4502

@OP I’ve met you in game before. (I was that new guardian that was lost in obsidian sanctum and asked you a bunch of ranger questions(hopefully you remember?)) I can vouch for him and his build. He was 1v1 against a D/P thief. He gave the Thief a hard time. He almost killed him too but that kitten thief and his perma stealth of gayness…anyway…he put up a good long fight with the thief but in the end the thief won. Point I’m trying to make is that he said this build is not for zerging and that you CAN play it for spvp/tpvp if you really want to not that you have to. I personally saw this build in action and I would recommend it. All builds have counters and and there is no perfect build. Conditions are tough on rangers (but so are they on mesmers, wheres the rage for that) You can modify this build to be a harder counter to condis if you like. (no one is telling you not to change the build) Personally I do like the 30 in wilderness survival for condi removal over having to take SoR. I like what you did especially with the position rangers are currently in. (Don’t think rangers have it bad? Rangers just won CDI with a landslide victory) Personally I do think you should have range in there somewhere…Although GS 3 and Sword 2 make excellent gap closers. Also I really think you should change your runes. The 4% bonus damage is nice I guess but not worth the 6 runes IMO..someone mentioned earlier 2 good ones: Rune of Dwayna and Rune of Resistance. They are both good since HaO is pretty spamable. Id personally go with rune of resistance since I barely see many people go with that and get -20% condi duration on you on top of that you would get a free aegis on signet use (which this build relies on) which gives us more options to negate an attack. (you can usually use SoH twice before you can pull off your SoH SoW maul combo(to anyone who has never been hit by this combo, regardless of crit damage or not it hits harder.VERY hard)) In addition if you use rampage as one you get that fury which lets you crit (again even without crit damage, crit attacks are still devastating (although not as devastating as critdamage crit attacks but none the less still freighting to get hit by) Personally I support the use of HaO. I never liked troll ungent or HS. Yes they have their own benefits but IMO, in combat TU doesn’t heal fast enough to save your self from being bursted down, HS is nice but if you want the full benefit you would have to stay in the spring then combo off of it and even then the regen can be popped off easily. Again these are just my thoughts and opinions. Props to OP

In response to Warrior Healing Signet:
I think Healing Signet should have class specific mechanics in it like the Mesmer’s Signet of Ether or the Necromancer’s Signet of Vampirism. Their base heals are strong on their own, however their passives are good in their own situations causing you to choose between when to use the active or passive. I recommend something like this: Healing Signet’s base active heal will be raised 3800 and will now passively heal you based on the amount of adrenaline you have. At max adrenaline it will heal for 400 a tick. The lower the adrenaline, the lower the passive heal. This will encourage warriors to asess the situation and decide whether or not its worth losing the strong passive heal. With a change like this it also prevent certain builds from spamming their burst abilities or risk losing their sustain. In addition to this change, warriors “Adrenal Health” minor trait from 15 in defense should be changed to granting Regen while in combat. Something like 2000 health over 6 sec with the trait having a 3 sec CD. The regen will be able to stack on itself for longer duration. By having the 3 sec CD on the trait, it will promote skillful play in the sense that if the warriors regen has been taken down and his burst has been used, he is no longer receiving heals which leaves him open for attacks (or bursts). It will also encourage counter play through skillful boon removal IE: no more boon removal spams

The numbers I used are purely for the sake of example. If any of my suggestions were to be used or taken into consideration, please be aware that they will change at the devs discretion.

[spvp] Litany of Wrath

in Guardian

DISCLAIMER ~ I am a bit new to guardian but I wanted to discuss the new skill as well.
I feel that in guild wars 2 there is more than one way to use a utility skill for example being able to use a skill that is meant as a gap closer as a get away tool. I feel like this is the same for Litany of Wrath. In some sense Litany of Wrath can also be used defensively. Damage from retaliation counts towards the damage for Litany of Wrath. That being said if we can’t deal damage to them, we can also count on any incoming damage as potential gain for healing and damage dealing at the same time. Now before people argue with me about how people would stop attacking me, 1) then thats a good thing because that would mean you are not taking damage and 2) in pvp its realistically impossible to keep track of everyone’s boons/conditions 100% of the time. The methods and mechanics are there yes but it would be hard to do especially in the middle of a fight. Also no team would stop attacking and trying to take a capture point that could help decide a match just because they would worry about one guardian popping a potentially dangerous heal. Additionally I feel the best use of this heal would be some sort of combination of meditations and retaliation up time. Meditations to help heal yourself, clear conditions, stick to target, and bonus heal on use and retaliation to help push at that extra damage on your opponent for the heal.
