I dunno, i am a bit jaded with my point of view…like players expect ports for something they can just as easily do themselves. Or like players expect rez at world boss fights (OMG). Its just more I’m against the mindset of players that expect to be handed stuff rather than EARNING it.
This is sarcasm right? Because if not, you realize this is a game I hope? One people play in their spare time to get away from the whole “YOU WANT TO EAT??? EARN IT” real life thing.
I did decide this morning to run into WvW quick and got my dailies that way. I’m a new WvW player, though, so that didn’t occur to me at first.
Whether or not you can get a Mesmer portal to the end should not be the criteria to whether a JP should be a daily or not.
I do the jp. Because I need the practice. I don’t mesmer portal to the end.
First real complaint about the game since returning in November. Dailies are the thing that keep me going into the game. I think I’ve finished my daily every day since I came back in November except while traveling for holidays. But today’s are too much. The jumping puzzle, even with a helpful in-person guide (thank you for those who volunteer to do this), was undoable. It didn’t help that my pet popped back out every time I fell. The camera angles in the puzzles in the narrow cavern tunnels are impossible enough without my pet (which I can’t stow permanently) blocking my view.
So we thought, ok, np. We won’t do the JP today. So we decided to check out the daily activity participation. We look up on the wiki which tells us it’s crab toss. We go to southsun and look for the NPC for 30 minutes. No luck. We go to LA and talk to that activity participation NPC just in case. No luck. What a waste of an hour between the two. I had had enough and just logged out without doing anything else.
Super hard puzzles should not be dailies. If activity participation is a daily, it must WORK.
Yes. I just did this too the other day. Very frustrating.
I think 10 minutes average, allowing for a couple mistakes. I do RataSum, The Grove, and Hoelbrak. If you are in NA I’d be happy to run you around them. You can’t make the gold needed to buy them that fast, at least I can’t
Step 1: make new character. Step 2: run city completions. Step 3: profit with transmutation charges. Step 4: repeat.
My main is a ranger and it’s a great class for solo/duo play, exploring, farming resources. The pet can really help out if it turns into a “crap I didn’t mean to hit that champ, RUN.”
Oh. No. I hope this isn’t true. This is how i get my charges. And I just used 11 yesterday!
I want to thank you for posting this. I went to the first TT after reset, looked in LFG for a taxi to “organized TT” or something like that, and it was very well organized, explained exactly what to do (we did amber) and we were successful. Two mastery points. Yay! Now I just need cobalt head.
The first wurm after reset on NA is hosted by a group of regulars. I’ve been going the past 3 nights and last night we had a kill. All wurms are explained by the commanders without TS3/Vent and we have a great time. The spawns after that are hosted by EVOS/TTS who will advertise taxis in LFG (45-30 mins before the timer), just as the post reset team does. The only downside to TT is the wait to get set up and it’s best to get in the map early to make sure there’s a spot for you. In an unorganised map, it’s going to fail as I found out in the past myself. Being an EU on NA servers, TTS/EVOS run too late for me so the post reset team is perfect timing for me. I got my cobalt decap last night (and 2 MPs), and will be running with the post reset team for fun after I’ve got my achievements and MPs. If you can make it on for that run, I highly recommend it
I too wish that you could remain in a group and join a squad (for counting purposes at least). I like being in a squad if it helps the commanders determine where more people are needed. But my husband and I just hang in a two person group always. It’s just what we do. It’s annoying to drop the group, then have to regroup after a 15 minute event is finished.
I played for a few months at lunch. I played for a few months two years ago. I started playing again in November. About three weeks ago I decided I wanted ascended weapons. It was not hard. The time it took was only due to time gated materials. I had almost everything I needed already stored in my bank. I’ve had 2 ascended weapons for a few days now. My husband got interested after seeing my first. He also crafted one this week (and got a drop off Teqatl, wtf RNG). We mostly just duo together so we aren’t doing dungeons, fractals or raids. Just normal PVE playing.
Thanks for all the ideas and build modifications. I used some gear I had in the bank, so I’m still not full rabid but I did go 3 rabid, 1 viper, 1 dire, 1 rampager and changed the ruins to krait. Switched out my longbow with a rampager (already in my bank and soulbound) and I’m crafting an rabid ascended torch (I can only craft torch or bow and I’’m still not decided on the bow). I haven’t touched my trinkets yet. But it’s a start.
Thanks I’d like an invite!
Thank you. I see now that you’ve pointed it out the speed overlaps. I just never noticed.
After posting this, I swapped out my lb for Stardust SB and Wanderers Auric Torch (that I’ve been carrying around but have never equipped and soulbound) and just simply doing that would up my precision and condi dmg considerably.
Background. Played GW2 for just a few months when it came out. Two years ago I played for a few months and leveled my ranger to 80, cluelessly bought cheap gear that I could afford.Started playing again in November, and bought HoT after Christmas. I mostly duo with my husband, a tempest, so I’ve often made sure to bring along extra healing to keep him alive so he can kill the mobs. We’ve also joined a casual guild and done a few dungeons/fractals and they know I have a ridiculous build and don’t seem to care.
I’ve known I need a remake for a while but I don’t want to go for glass cannon as if I’m dead all the time, my husband’s tempest can’t concentrate on killing the mobs. I’ve looked at the shortbow/axe/torch condi build posted here a bit ago and was wondering if something like that would at least be better than this. I really just don’t like SB though.

I’ve had the same look for a long time. It was time to switch it up. Still not thrilled with the helm but I don’t want a mask.
Because there is not a bard. I played a bard in D&D in the 80s and 90s. I played one in EQ. I played a minstrel in DAoC. When WoW came out with no music class, the hunter drew me in with the pet. So when I tried out GW2, ranger seemed like a good first class to try. I like the long bow range and the condi dmg from axe/torch. I love if I’m gathering/mining/chopping in a low level zone, my pet can take out any stray mobs so that I can keep on chopping And perma speed. I like my ele for the perma speed too.
Just started playing again after 2 years away. Nice little 3rd birthday box. I had been wearing Midnight Blue and Frost, but after getting Deep Glacial Teal dye I grabbed some Tarnished Silver from the TP. I know she doesn’t look very naturey, but she’s just a frosty kind of gal.
