Yes, there are more than enough people playing Gw 2 for you all to log in and enjoy your 60-man ZERG content against so-called “world bosses”! LOL. Have fun!
Thankfully, Heroic/Mystic raids in WoW and other games still require skill and cohesion amongst the Trinity to complete….but hey, those of you that loooooove “dodge the red circle!” as your lone mechanic, have at it! Still cannot believe the number of you that seem to think Gw 2 requires any sort of skill…..this game is an absolute joke.

Where did the game go I used to love?

it’s been 3 months!

I was falling through the map and dying of the fall damage a full 3 YEARS into wow.

Give em a break! They’re working on it!

Shhhh, let them leave.

It’ll just mean that those of us who aren’t absurdly fickle enough to quit over a single poor patch will have less complainers to deal with in the long run, and they’ll be off on some other internet forum ranting about how GW2 is still “dying” for years to come. Sounds like a win to me.

…And yet another blind fanboy shows up to attack an OP or a responder who raised a legitimate issue.
So when all of these “absurdly fickle” people leave and your bugged game is forced to merge servers, is that still going to be a “win”?

OP has a valid point. Glad to see his disclaimer about fanboys, but I highly doubt that’s going to stop any of them from telling him he’s “playing the game wrong” or some such rot.
OP: they rushed this thing out the door because of MoP. I say this because I played GW for four years, and there was a certain amount of grumbling about how inordinately long it was taking ANet to release a sequel, even after five years of development.
Blizzard and ANet communicate directly more than most people think. Why? Because (a) they respect one another and (b) they aren’t going to put each other out of business. You have to think that both of these companies knew the release dates of MoP and GW 2 long before the general public did.
Simply put, I don’t think ANet could stand to see their most gargantuan competitor put out yet another major expansion before they released a sequel that, quite frankly, took too long to be made. They rushed it out the door, and now they are reaping what they sowed.

Each thread like this i see the same things…

The OP makes legit points and the blind fanboys just dog him because of hours played.

Same ol’ same ol’.

^ This.
I was going to warn the OP to prepare for mass flaming, but if he’s got that many hours logged I’m sure he already knows what time it is.
It truly is amazing, that any time someone brings up the myriad issues plaguing this game, issues that have been discussed far beyond these forums, that person is napalmed by drooling fanboys who ignore this game’s failings and blame everything on YOU.
That’s right, if you have an issue with this “perfect” game, then YOU are dumb, or YOU need to “change your mindset”, or YOU “just don’t get it”, or YOU are just a “hater”.
I think it’s hilarious how many of the fanboys told people to “go back to WoW”, and it wound up being a self-fulfilling prophecy.
LOL @ idiot fanboys.

ANet,
I was just wondering if you guys were paying attention when SWTOR and TERA were released. Both of those games launched under huge hype, yet both launch with little or no endgame PvE content. Less than a year later (heck, not even 5 months in the case of TERA), both of those game must be considered failures, at least in terms of retaining players.
Can’t help but be curious as to why you would watch something like this happen and then roll this game out, knowing that there is nothing for anyone at the level cap to do. Elitist dungeons do tend to scare away casual players, you know.

Community opinion on the PvE endgame

Don’t forget, guys, that endgame content is not all about raiding. Endgame content is about having something definable to do at the level cap that keeps people playing. A built-in time sink, sure, and nobody said it has to be meaningful to everyone, but there should be something for me to look forward to.
I swear I never saw the word “raid” so vilified as I did until ANet and Massively started hyping the bejeezus out of this game. I played WoW for several years. I have done my share of raiding but have also met tons of players who have never even thought of attempting a raid, yet they still log on regularly because even at the level cap they feel like they are working towards something.
What about dailies? What about our Zaishen quests from Gw1 that helped keep us going at 20? What about the fact that the original game didn’t even really start until you reached level 20?

Help! My interest is falling :S

Sadly, from what I am reading and hearing from max-level guildmates, I don’t think there really is anything else.
My highest level character is at 37 and I am already debating my future here. As much as I dearly loved the original and as beautiful as this game is, right now there just doesn’t seem to be anything to do at 80.
I always thought ANet was awfully vague about what the endgame was going to be; now I think I see why.
Just my two cents here, but I think the idea of rolling another character out of boredom two weeks after launch is a bit ridiculous.

Current Balances issues in PvP:

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

I think the balance issues are mostly understandable this early on. Read 10 different posts and you can find 10 differing views on whom is OP. I’ve only played two classes thus far so I really can’t comment much on that.
I think the main problems with PvP are the downed system and the almost-limitless energy. I know some people think the downed system adds something to combat, and that’s cool, I just happen to think it could spoil some 1v2’s; heck it has already done that to me.
Energy being such an easy resource, to me, has removed one of the major skill requirements that were necessary in the original; if you were running on empty trying to defend Gunther, you were in trouble. Now those smarts are no longer needed, which I suppose as an ele would be enjoyable, I just think it lowers the barrier of entry.

Crafting : Really worth it anymore?

in Players Helping Players

I am just hopeful this whole crafting system will allow people like me, who abhor crafting in mmo’s and prefer to gather, to make a decent living doing just that. I hear you guys on the crafting issues, including the butter; I gave it a chance but me and crafting go together like jalapenos and chocolate.
Unfortunately lost some economy time with the Tp but thus far it has been worth the running around. Seems like crafting legendaries is gonna be the thing to do at 80, so hopefully the higher-end raw mats will be enough to keep me afloat without having to pound the armorer’s hammer, lol.

80 what now ?

in Players Helping Players

gooberkid.6029

You done any of the dungeons? You crafted anything? you explored everything? You dont like sPvP or WvW?

Go roll another character?

So basically there is no end-game content to keep people playing. Isn’t this one of the things that has led to the demise of SWTOR?
If I have to re-roll a week after hitting 80 simply because there is no content designed for level-capped players, I will be gone.
Part of making a solid MMO is building in reasons to keep people playing. As imbalanced and zerg-a-licious as the PvP is here so far, and with the Downed system driving many folks away from PvP (myself included), I fail to see how that can be considered endgame content.
I hate to say it but I am seeing people in my guild who hit 80 and who are already doing what you said in the end, rolling another character. And that is pretty darn sad.

Downed State/Rally in PvP

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

Here’s a situation that happens quite often:

2 vs 1 scenario. I manage to get them both on a downed state, but since I’m badly damaged, before I can finish one of them or run away to heal, they both keep attacking me and manage to get me down and guess what? Since us 3 are downed, guess who is gonna die first? And after killing me, they both get up, due to “Rally”, like nothing happened….

I couldn’t have put this better myself. In fact, this is the primary reason that I have stopped PvPing for now, hoping that this ridiculous Downed/Rally mess will be removed from PvP.
This system has no place in PvP. It is allowing people whom I have already defeated to get a second health bar and makes 2v1 almost impossible once one enemy “revives” the other, especially in a case like the above one, where I was able to beat two people but my health is so low and I am so loaded with conditions than I cannot escape, so instead of me standing over two dead enemies, hurting but alive, I wind up just like this poster: being killed by two people that I just beat fair and square.
I have enjoyed competitive PvP in several mmo’s, and here’s my thing: if you want a “second health bar”, then you need to re-spawn and come try me again. This system is cheesy and it makes the PvP in this game far inferior to the original. Much of the skill requirement has been removed and now we are seeing the almighty zerg instead of preparation and teamwork.
Seriously ANet, Downed needs to be dumped from PvP.

Gem Store Armor Skins?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

Hey guys,
This might be a dumb question but I figured I would ask it before spending money, lol.
In looking at the armor skins in the gem store, I see in the descriptions that they can be used once. So, are they one-use items? Can I only skin one set of gear, then lose the skin when I change my gear? Or can I re-use these gem skins the way I re-use the skins from my HoM rewards?
Thanks!

Is the necro much weaker compared to the other classes

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

I was an SS/SV necro for four years in the original. Played a necro for one entire beta weekend and decided then and there not to play one in this game.
Like I said in another post, first off I think the conditions and condition damage in this game are much less effective than they were in Gw 1. Blindness and bleeding are noticeably thinner, and I really don’t see that Weakness is doing a heck of a lot, either.
I didn’t play my necro to 80, only hit 28 or 29, but I also must say that the minions this time around seem pretty squishy to me; also I think that making you destroy your blood fiend to heal yourself is not a good idea, considering that the following cooldown to re-raise the blood fiend is simply too long. Throughout the bwe I played a necro I would run with 2 or 3 minions at a time, yet was unable to get them to attack first and pull aggro, so I didn’t really have the buffer zone that the minions from the first game provided.
All in all, to me the class is much less effective than it was.

What are your opinions on condition damage?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

Seems to me that condition damage is less effective than it was in the original. Actually, let me rephrase that: I think the conditions overall are somewhat less effective. Blindness, for instance, which used to cause a 50% miss chance over a certain amount of time, now causes only one miss on one attack; still works, but not quite like the old days.
I have a guardian as well and the burning is nice, although I did spend a major trait on the extra damage vs burning foes, mainly just to satisfy myself.
All in all I would have to say that I believe the conditions have been nerfed somewhat, although I’m not sure nerfed is the right term. I played a necro during the bwe’s and I know that her conditions seemed to be much weaker than what I was expecting and what I was able to do in GW 1.

End Game at 80?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

Thanks for the responses, guys.
Basically what I take from all this is that there is no end-game content; that you are all doing the same things you did whilst leveling.
I was worried about this pre-launch because during one of the dev videos, the two guys were very vague about the end-game. I knew there wouldn’t be any heavy-duty raids, but come on. The reason end-game content exists is to give people a reason to hit the level cap, a carrot on a stick to keep them going.
I can PvP and WvW from level 1, and to be honest neither of those things is all that great; the PvP is inferior to the first game’s and I have yet to see any cooperation in this game whatsoever. A bunch of people loading up a screen with overblown skill effects does not make for teamwork.
Anyway guys thanks for the answers. I wish I would have known all of this before now because I would have cancelled my pre-order.
The last few games I have seen that released with little or no end-game content (TOR and TERA) are both already dead in the water. Just something to think about.

End Game at 80?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: gooberkid.6029

gooberkid.6029

A question for those of you who have hit 80:

I know your time at the level cap has been relatively short, but what are your thought on the endgame thus far? I felt like ANet was quite vague about what we would be doing at 80. I liked the rep-farming in the first game but I know it doesn’t exist here, so I am just curious as to what to expect.
Are there anything resembling dailies? Better crafting? Anything beyond a few new dungeons and more PvP?
I’d just like to have an idea of what you guys are actually doing now that you’re at the apex of the leveling curve.
Thanks!
