I could run Lotro and WoW without any problems, so I just assumed I could run it and already payed for the game. However, today I checked on systemrequirements lab and it says my computer isn’t good enough. So now it looks likely that I won’t be able to run it. :\
The only thing that doesn’t pass, however, is my video card. They suggest I have an ATI Radeon X1800, but I have an AMD M880G with ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250.
I don’t expect stunning graphics with amazing fps or anything, but will the game at least be playable if I tweak the graphics a bit?
Because your computer can run games released like 6+ years ago, you assumed it can run games released in 2012?
Are you kitten
lol what a waste of money. I can build the same performing computer(same GPUs, same CPU, and same RAM) for less than $2000.
Also, almost all the prices you listed with the parts are heavily inflated. Just compare to Newegg and Amazon.
After investing around $300 into guild wars 2 I quit.

lol you are kitten if you already spent $200 for in-game stuff.
You don’t need to spend $100 to get a case with good airflow and cable management.
There are plenty of amazing cases in $70-$80 range.
You are delusional.
YOUR COMPUTER IS OLD AND BAD.
Stop using semicolon please. You used it wrong every time.
What would it take to get 60 fps on minimum details?
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: gosu.8153
You are gonna need at least an i5-2400 or heavily overclocked AMD quad core to get minimum 30 fps in massive WvW battles.
Get the drivers for your laptop from HP website
Not at all, just wanted to know if
1) can i trust this website in future ( I take it not)
2) is there anything i can do now
3) the image was misleading wanted to make sure it was clear. No need to be sarcastic really?
Yes you can trust the website. It didn’t give you any misinformation. YOU interpreted it wrong.
All that website does is objectively compare the game’s official minimum requirements and your computer’s hardware specs. It doesn’t make any guarantees as to how the game will run on your computer.
There’s nothing you can do now other than getting a decent computer.
BSOD's and Crashing caused by Hardware or Engine?

Posted by: gosu.8153
Never had GW2 crash or give BSOD ever.
your graphics driver is out of date. I bet other drivers are out of date as well.
Update ALL drivers.
It just means you had too many junks running in the background eating up cpu and memory resources.
My game randomly ALT-TABS to desktop. I don't know why! Please help.

Posted by: gosu.8153
Stop running useless junks in the background.
Still doesn’t change the fact that you got majorly ripped off. Like I said, a $600 computer can give you the same performance.
Oh and nobody said your new comp can’t run GW2. They all said you paid too much for it.
Basically, you paid $2200 to get a crappy computer that only gives you 30-45 FPS in low settings.
You got scammed lol.

I have a 7950. No problem with FPS in Queensdale. Buttery smooth 60+ fps in all areas.
Uh no, I am not returning anything and you all can stop posting here now since all I am getting are rude comments. Its no wonder I hardly post anything on here
Why would you not return it? You shouldn’t have paid more than $600 for that computer.
I get the same problem when I open my guild panel that has a lot of people in the roster.
This guild has like 400 people and my FPS just drops to like 20 when I open the guild panel.
If I click a different guild that has only like 20 people in it, the FPS goes back up to normal.
I am pretty sure this is either a game bug or intended by Anet.
7950 is the BEST card you can buy with $300. Nothing else beats it in value and performance at that price level. And it’s far better than 660ti, which is priced similarly.
Um don’t know where you think this computer is only 300…its more like 2200 thanks.
ROFL 2200?
Wow you got ripped off really badly.
lololol
I can’t believe it.
Turn off vsync.
When your computer can’t render 60+ fps, vsync limits your FPS to 30 instead.
The minimum requirement for this game isn’t unrealistic at all.
People just need to stop having unrealistic expectations of it.
Good enough to run gw2 at almost max settings on a single monitor.
Get a decent CPU cooler so you can overclock your 3570k.
Did it not occur to you that you should probably post the specs of your computer?
It’s an issue with the game. Not your graphics card.
I’ve noticed it too.
Buy the parts and have a friend build it for you.
With $600 – $700 budget, you can actually build a pretty decent gaming comp.
You can get 2TB Seagate HDD for $110 at Amazon.
Pick a better power supply brand. $100 for only a Plus certified 700w is rip off
The rest of your computer is high-end, you should get at least a Bronze certified PSU. Seasonic makes the best and most reliable PSUs,
If you don’t plan on SLI/crossfire, you don’t need higher than 600watts.
Stop using task manager to check your CPU usage. Use something like CoreTemp.

Those with gaming mice should turn up the USB polling rate (you can actually do this for a standard mouse too, if you know how) to see if that alleviates the issue.
That isn’t a fix really, but may help until A.Net can figure out what’s going on with some peoples mice.
Default Windows USB polling rate: 125hz
Ya’ll should try: 250hz, 333hz, 500hz, and 1000hz.
Stop wasting your time.
The problem isn’t with mice. It’s the game.
If you haven’t experienced the problem, it’s due to the class/profession you play or your playstyle.
I never experienced this while leveling.
It only happens when I am trying to do like 20 things at the same time in PVP.
You won’t beat an overclocked 2600K in gaming. You just won’t. Not unless you’ve managed to do something that no benchmark site has managed.
You should talk from real world gaming performance, not benches done against FX’s that arent being oc’d,because that are what most benches show.I know because i beat a friend of mine who has a 2600k,and his temps rises like its wanting to set his house on fire when trying to oc the 2600k,70c+. Yet im going from 3.1 to 4.6 just by upping the multiplier to 23.x on 1.4V and my cpu stays around 50 under full load and blasts away anything i throw at it.Trying to give his 2600k a stable oc was a already a pain without the insanely added heat.
You are clueless.
First, you can’t compare AMD cpu temp to Intel cpu temp. AMD CPUs run cooler and lower max operating temperature. Intel CPUs run warmer and have higher max operating temperature. 70c might be bad for AMD but it’s fine for OCed Intel CPU.
Second, 2600k is actually a beast for overclocking. Sounds like your friend didn’t know what he was doing.
Third, the 2600k has better real world gaming performance than any AMD consumer level CPU. And in the real world, most people don’t OC their CPU.
i understand this is a very prevalent problem for a large portion of the community and that a.net is working hard to improve it bit by bit (as i have seen some small fps improvements). but does anyone know what the exact problem is? is it that certain graphics cards aren’t compatible with the game? or will it be easily fixed once a new driver is released for each respective card? just very confused and wondering if anyone knows the solution process or the complexities behind the process and can shine some light on it.
my general specs are:
core i7 processor
8gigs ram
amd hd mobility radeon 6970 2gigs
up to date drivers on everythingone of my friends is running the same specs except with an nvidea and runs with no lag. i’m guessing amd vs nvidea is the issue here?
No, the issue isn’t amd vs nvidia. If anything, Nvidia cards seem to have more problems with gw2.
The problem is most likely your laptop CPU. Laptop i7 means nothing when it comes to gaming performance.

Yup. This is an issue with the game. Usually happens during pvp in frantic situations. Incredibly annoying. I also hate how sometimes the targeting circles stay with the cursor even after the spell is cast.
The camera needs to zoom out more too.
Honestly, the camera and targeting is friggin horrible in this game.
He could just upgrade to the AMD FX-8150 8-Core Processor which is nearly as good as the i5 2500k. The CPU is only like $200.
Terrible advice. If gaming is primary concern, Intel beats AMD at EVERY price point.
You can run the game. Just don’t expect smooth FPS in situations that demand a lot of CPU power.
He does not need a newer system. Have you not read other comments?
People with super powerful computers are having problems.
The game is clearly badly programmed and you just need to look at the forums they are full of people experiencing very low FPS on some very high end computers.
It is developers like ANet that cause pc players to move over to consoles.
Why should we have to upgrade our computers when we all clearly meet and exceed the minimum specs that they advertise on the back of the game.
Sorry I don’t agree with your post at all.
First of all, most people with high end computers aren’t having problems. Just because you see some posts about it on forums doesn’t mean everyone is having problems.
Go check out the forums of any MMO. There are always people complaining about performance issues. The complaints never end.
I’ve seen the complaints from players with high end computers and they seem to be compatibility/driver/SLI/configuration problems. Their problems aren’t the same as people with ancient computers experiencing low FPS.
Second, no amount of patches or optimization will make WvW run smoothly on old dual core machines. I suggest that if you want to partake in WvW with smooth FPS, upgrade to a modern quad core CPU. This magic fix all you seem to be waiting for is never going to come. There are simply far too many calculations your CPU has to do during massive WvW battles. No amount of optimization is going to change that.
Oh and meeting the MINIMUM requirements doesn’t guarantee anything. It doesn’t mean that you will be able to enjoy every aspect of the game with enjoyable FPS.
Minimum means you will be able to install the game on your computer and run the game.

I have a pretty basic machine. i5-3570k stock, radeon 7950 , 8gb RAM, Crucial m4 SSD.
Playing on 1920×1080 res, I have all settings set to max. I even have shadows at ultra and reflections set to all.
I don’t have any issues with FPS and the game looks gorgeous.
60-100 FPS while questing/leveling.
30-50 FPS in lion’s arch with a lot of people around.
50-80 FPS in dungeons with 4 other players.
30-40 FPS minimum in HUGE WvW battles.
Considering the fact that I have all settings set to max and supersampling enabled, the FPS I am getting is prettykittengood. Other recently released MMOs such as SWTOR and Tera perform FAR WORSE than gw2. Ever try mass world PVP in SWTOR or Nexus event in Tera?
If you are getting questionable performance with your high-end computer, something is probably misconfigured on your end. Doesn’t matter if “all other games run perfectly fine”. Each game is different. Shooters tend to not rely on CPU and use GPU heavily. MMOs, on the other hand, are heavily dependent on CPU.
Whenever I read those low FPS complaints, it’s so hard to not suspect user error because they always sound so clueless about computer hardware. Most of them don’t even know how to post the specs of their computer…
Occasional flicker with latest AMD graphics driver
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: gosu.8153
Yep, flicker happens here too. No FPS issues though. I have i5 3570k and Radeon 7950. All settings at high and ultra, even shadows.
I’ve actually FRAPSed the flicker. I will try to upload it later today.
Hi Lonja,
I don’t think you understand the meaning of minimum requirements.
Is the game being CPU Bound something they will optimize?

MMOs are always demanding on the CPU.
Your 1.6ghz i7 is terrible by the way. First, it’s a laptop CPU. Second, it’s only 1.7 ghz.MMOs ALWAYS use the graphics card to some extent tho, when i can go into WvW and have 0% activity on the graphics card, something is wrong
That’s because your CPU is bottlenecking.
Dev's, Are we ever going to be able to utilize our graphics card in..
in Account & Technical Support
Posted by: gosu.8153
You are seeing low GPU usage because something else in your computer is bottlenecking, most likely your CPU.
Your GPU doesn’t need to work at 100% when your CPU is limiting the FPS to like 10.
My GPU is always at 90%-100% during WvW, or pretty much anywhere.

MMOs are always demanding on the CPU.
Your 1.6ghz i7 is terrible by the way. First, it’s a laptop CPU. Second, it’s only 1.7 ghz.
It’s overheating
As you can see the graphics is bugged as hell.
I am using 7900 GTX graphic card and I can run other games perfectly.
lol. This is such a flawed argument. What other games? Minecraft?
7900 GTX is a 6 year old card and there are tons modern games that it can’t run “perfectly”.
I have 0 problems with my 7950.
Did you really have to make another thread?
it shuts off my pc i tried putting it on low and it shuts off after 30 or 15 mins of play also my pc surpasses your recromended specs for ultra or high, i don’t know the cause but diablo 3 made my pc shut off evry two hours i fixed it by limiting fps, i tried for gw2 and it did not work so i got a game that is fun but won’t let me play it fml
PS i cleaned out my pc and i can’t do an dix report because it shuts off my pc(turns off desktop. sorry for bad English i am in an hurry
The problem is obviously your computer’s hardware. The fact that you don’t even know how to get the specs of your computer shows you are beyond clueless.
Anet is not responsible for your problem, nor can they help you.
There’s a defect in your computer’s hardware. I suggest you take it to a computer shop or get it warrantied.
(edited by gosu.8153)
I see these low GPU usage complaints threads in EVERY MMO FORUMS.
Those with low end CPUs always do the same song and dance.
- “I can run (insert unrelated game here) perfectly fine but I get bad fps in this game! Not my computer’s fault!”
- The game is only using 20% GPU. The game is broken"
Guess what guys? MMOs have always been very CPU dependent. It’s not possible for your 5 year old dual core to give you smooth FPS when there are tons of characters PVPing on your screen. Just not possible.
You are seeing low GPU usage because your GPU is being bottlenecked by the CPU. Your GPU is not getting enough stuff to work on because everything passes through your CPU so slowly.
Now if you have a decent, modern CPU and GPU but still having unreasonably low FPS, it’s probably
- Heat issue, very common in laptops. CPUs self throttle to prevent damage when it reaches a certain threshhold. Usually around 90c to 100c.
- Misconfiguration. This can include outdated/incompatible drivers, bad Windows settings, Anti-virus software, or just too many programs running in the background.
- Broken hardware.
I know this game has many bugs. But as far as optimization is concerned, this game has it pretty good compared to other recently released MMOs like SWTOR and Tera.
You can’t judge this game’s optimization based on your FPS during huge WvW battles.
I have a 7950 but I don’t have this problem. Using 12.8 WHQL driver.
I do get the occasional flickering textures though.
Minimum requirement doesn’t guarantee you will run the game smoothly…
It just means you will be able to run the game.
Well if u dont want invisible allies then don’t press the hot key. What part of OPTION u don’t understand…
lol. Seems like you are the one who can’t comprehend.
My post wasn’t about me having the option. It’s the fact that there will be worthless players bringing down the whole team because they are playing with invisible allies.
