You shouldn’t really copy someone’s build who hasn’t done alot of spvp >.> Anyway his build has some “cool” traits, but “cool” and “effective” are 2 different ballparks. He’s lacking alot of crit % and power that he could have from investing into air or fire instead of into evasive arcana. IMO evasive arcana is only useful for bunker/support specs, the earth/fire dodge does very low damage, while the aoe blind from air and cleansing wave from water do really well in support/bunker builds.
He doesn’t use evasive arcana, I do.
I would love to see this added.
More importantly, I would love to hear the thoughts of the developers and designers on this subject. Is this even a remote possibility? (From the design standpoint, as well, is this something you would consider allowing in the game?)

You know, if you’re going to modify a build, you should tell us more about it than this. We have no clue what major traits, healing skill, utility skills, or elite you use.
Oop, I apologize mate. I used WoodenPotato’s build exactly, all the same skills and gear, but the one difference is that I took out 10 points from fire (the 10 points he used to get 10% increased damage while in fire), and put those 10 points into arcane to give me a total of 30 in arcane. I selected Evasive Arcana as my new arcane trait.

Everything else is the same, though, and the playstyle is the same (minus dodging toward the enemies every 10-15 seconds).
I’m a major fanboy of his elebuild… I use the same base build (boon heavy), but I prefer to go 30 into arcane and select the ability that causes churning earth or fireball on dodge. Turning the dodge into an offensive ability helps a ton with a build so high in vigor, so close to melee range, and so squishy that you dodge as much as we do.

I’d say my stats are Power/Toughness/Precision/Vitality/Crit % Damage on my gear…I try my best to keep them as balanced as possible.

Yeah, bottom line is they’re doing a great job. We’re all just so needy.
3. I made the fireballs hurt more. Not greatly more – they’ll do about 3-4k damage to a DPS focused player, but you should have anywhere between 15k-25k HP, so there’s a bit of wiggle room for error.

Just wanted to tune in here and say that while I don’t mind the damage increase, I can’t even imagine having 15-25k HP as an elementalist. Even with a heavy water/earth build, 15k is pushing it. I’m currently at 13k with a support build (focus on boons and conditions), and 13k is just over HALF the HP that was mentioned. Meaning, relative to the others, this does double damage to me. Additionally, because I am an elementalist, I have light armor. Which means that the fireball will do additional damage. 4.5k damage out of my 13k puts me at 2.5 fireballs and I’m dead. Take into account burning from a past ball, and/or random mobs, and I’m dead.
….Regardless, I still very much enjoy the challenge. I do have to ask, though, are there any elementalists that could give me some insight on this HP figure? Have I lost my mind?
EDIT: I would like to mention that all of the changes you made are perfectly reasonable and the dungeon is still fairly simple- people were just used to mindlessly walking through it. I especially want to thank you for having the testies to post on this forum full of passionate GW2 players. I really love seeing insight directly from the person/people that created the game I am playing!
I agree, I want something closer to a puzzle. I want to have to figure out the only way to beat a boss, instead of just dodging and pewpewing. The boulders in CM were cool, but it was kind of basic and it has now been overdone (repeatedly used).
If all you want is for people to nor farm a single dungeon at X speed repeatedly – why not just put a cooldown on their ability to enter the dungeon so they cannot without making it impossible for people to complete it.
Because then people wont waste their time running a dungeon for nothing.
Broken.
Now, between not being able to farm, and the Zhaitan fight being boring, I see no reason to play.
Guild Wars 2 appealed to the masses for the ability to progress in the game doing whatever it is you would like. I really need to understand this, why are you now requiring that we do EVERYTHING, instead of doing the one thing we want? What is the reason behind preventing farming? It isn’t like CoF’s Magg runs netted you a ton of gold or gear, people farm Magg for the tokens. You get more gold doing the event in front of CoF (20+ bags each time) than you do inside CoF itself.

It sounds to me that you’re just not playing it well. The elementalist, at worst, is BARELY under the other classes when played (and built) properly.

Changing a game of this scale has tons of implications and requires testing and tons of group thought before anything can be done. Give it time, and try different builds. Everything has a counter.
I really loved the daily updates- helped me feel like ArenaNet had an active team of people dedicated to keeping this game updated. Even just a ‘this is what was worked on today’ would be super appreciated!

I would like duels…I cant find a single downside. Aurorablue’s one issue, about being randomly requested to duel is hardly an argument. If you don’t want to duel, walk away. If there are some crazies that want to continuously spam people with duel requests, allow for a toggle to enable or disable duel requests per character.
