The knee jerk reactions are a bit much. Give it a chance, then contribute solid feedback rooted in experience – not assumptions.
People were equally as upset about the tactical defenses and the bombing defense thing at SMC. And it was fine.
Attackers can’t glide away because they don’t own the territory, you can – however – glide down on them (DEATH FROM ABOOOOVEEEEEE). Also, curious as to how gliding will respond if territory flips. Golems are more impactful than gliding. And good WvWers can stun/cc/knockback/etc. gliders as the person gliding has no access to skills or defensive abilities. There is so much opportunity for strategy and playing smart here.
I’ve never experienced “motion sickness” while playing a game, but I’m feeling a bit “off” when I use mounts. I would like to strongly suggest 2 things…
1. We need a much much farther draw distance.
2. We need the camera to be fixed in place on our characters when mounting and dismounting.
UPDATE- I’m still having a negative experience even with lowering the Motion Blur (as recommended). It’s really uncomfortable for me and I’ve never been sensitive to these types of things.
I experience this issue when the FoV is set too low. I know it’s unlikely that this is the issue for you, but it’s worth looking into. Also making sure you have proper lights, points of reference on/outside of your screen (to resolve the disconnect between your brain and vision), and last but not least, if the densely populated area was slaughtering your fps, especially when bounding about on a raptor mount, there’s a good chance that it may contribute to the feelings of motion sickness.

Having the same issue. Reinstalled, rebooted, attempted to detect the game both before running, while running, and after running. Even added the GW2 folder to the folders to scan, to no avail.
Obviously I don’t need it to tweak settings, but it’s convenient for quick optimization when I don’t feel like tweaking each setting.
EDIT: found the solution. From a thread on reddit:
“It looks like the scanner only picks up the original filename ‘gw2.exe’. As I run the 64 bit version, it worked for me just renaming the executable from ‘gw2-64.exe’ to ‘gw2.exe’ and updating a few settings afterwards. The game doesn’t care what the file is called and the scanner now picks it up.”
Non-Racial Home Instances
These instances would essentially be alternatives to the home instances found in the racial cities. They could have all kinds of different themes and perks. They would have predefined node locations like the current home instances, but could be more compact and would not be related to the racial stories.
Home Instance Theme Suggestions
- Twisted Castle
- Mad King Thorn
- Tixx and Toxx
- Queensdale Cottage
- Snowden Ranch
- Fractal Ruin
As a player, both for roleplay purposes and just in general, I’d like to feel as though I actually have a “home” to use and go to. Right now, the player doesn’t actually have a home, they just have a chunk of city they can meander around in. Something more compact and less populated with NPCs would be nice.
Each home instance would have their own entrance location in the world, just like current home instances.
Honestly I’m surprised with how much they’ve added to the home instance that they haven’t allowed players more freedom to customize. With so many empty houses, and so many of our allies from the story in the instance, I think it’d be a great idea to allow players to buy (gold) and customize (gems, gold, scribing) their “home” within an instance.
Housing in BDO was hella competitive, and a pretty decent gold/mat sink IMO. The best element though was that items in your home had use – boss trophies gave defensive or offensive buffs. Utensils allowed you to craft in your home. etc.
As opposed to tweaking existing instances, adding them in new zones (especially seeing as our characters will be so far away from “home”) will bypass the racial restriction, and provide a blank slate for greater depth and player interaction.
So, I recently returned to the game and was tweaking my various settings/customizations, and got around to my mail carriers. I’ve always used the seed pod, because even though it’s probably distracting to other players, I find the sound less irritating than the sound used with most of the birds. The birds (aside from the Griffon) have a high, pitchy, unpleasant chime (subjective opinion, of course) as the mail is being dropped. So, I avoid the birds, but aside from the anniversary mail carrier, there aren’t many alternatives.
That basically got me thinking of possible options if/when time permits
1. Butterfly swarm (I prefer flutter to swarm, but w/e) — butterflies descend in a spiraling motion above the player. No strong chime or ding, but instead a more subtle sound. The Grove Hydria back piece in-game could be a reference.
2. Holographic Aurene – again, a similar model to what she has in story instances (when she spoilerprojects herself in the open world to the player character. She could appear, bound around the player’s feet, and then vanish.
3. A herd of cats – it’s on theme! A small group of cats scramble past the player, while one stops to either lick its paw, or roll on its back as the mail is delivered. The delivery sound can be the same mew of the home instance cats. The message itself can be delivered by a small ball of yarn uncoiling as it flies up toward the player, or something.
And various other potential models: an undead hand springing up from the ground, a mail golem (a la M.O.X.), a sylvan or krytan hound, mail-o-tron, aspects of the human gods (maybe?), an exploding bloodstone fragment, ley-line anomaly/coalescence, mini pact zepplin, etc.
I absolutely support this. Bring us more meaningful content that we can actually play over simply item skins that are just gold sinks.
I would rather have a new dungeon or new LS event or a new Story mission then a legendary which is just a stat swapper and that’s it.
This game has loads of weapon skins as it is, I think Legendaries can wait.
We need more playable content above all.
Lol, do you consider LS2 “meaningful content” with replayability? Legendary weapons are not just skins – they are BiS weapons with selectable stats. Further, those weapons support the in-game economy for materials, and they drive players to participate in content they otherwise might overlook.
I didn’t run Silverwastes and map metas for kittens & giggles, I did it for loot to convert into gold to apply to my legendary crafting. I didn’t go out and farm every permanent rich ore node on a daily basis for fun, I did it to sell the mats for.. you guessed it, gold. I didn’t run dungeons (post-nerf) for fun for the 100th+ time, I ran them for tokens. Allowing players to set goals through content is part of the replayability. Without some sort of goal to work toward, what’s the point? The loot is garbage, LS2 is shallow and short-lived, I mean..
You’d take 1 quick and easy story mission over something that requires dozens of hours of playtime/investment?
Quality > Quantity. We already have a ton of existing content, there’s just no reason to play it beyond collections/legendary weapons. Adding a new Maguuma map isn’t going to revolutionize anything, in less than a month people will be back to complaining about having nothing to do. Legendary weapons at least supported replayability and longevity of the content.
And yes, most GW2 players are in the same group as me not bothered by legendary weapons.
And you know this how? Have you taken a sample group to poll? Do you have access to metrics? Because Legendary weapons are pretty common, and that’s not including the people still working toward acquiring one (or more). Thus, one would have to assume with all the people that have them, that the “majority” don’t consider them a waste of effort/resources.
I strongly believe that we will in fact entertain you. We’re a team of people who love the game that you love, and are working on things we’re confident you’ll love. But I’m not here to convince you of that, and I wouldn’t expect you to take my word for it. You can make that judgment in April, and each subsequent time we ship. I will work to make you happy, and I’ll do it by making you happy with what we ship, not with what we promise to ship.
Mo
If it’s anything like LS2, I can tell you now the answer is “no”. Legendary weapons were what kept me playing over the last year – a goal, a purpose, a reason to keep playing events in zones both old and new.
I’ve been playing another game that recently launched (BDO is taking over my life) but I’d half expected I could manage both games. At this point, I’m ready to write off GW2. Check my gemstore history – I’ve been invested for a decent amount of time, and no small amount of cash. I don’t regularly complain on the forums. But, unless you overhauled the LS system, and fought John Smith over reward structure, it’s not going to pay off – legendary weapons offered more longevity. At the very least, add them in the same way as the old legendaries – RNG precursor, craft at the forge. You can add the collections later.
This was one of your HoT selling points, something often requested and much awaited by a portion of your community (legendary weapon holders are not a minority), and there are players who have built up collections with the intention of crafting a HoT legendary. Especially those of us who are stuck with lackluster/undesirable options (Howler, Meteorlogicus, Minstrel, etc.).
This was a good call. The issues with the foundation of the game needs to be addressed before new content. This is what we have all been asking for and it is basic common sense that the core game needs to be right before anything else people…jump back and let them breathe. We can revisit legendaries later.
They said they’re working on LS 3 and a new expansion instead of the “Heart of Thorns” legendary weapons. That doesn’t ring “core game”/foundation to me. That’s working on the next sales drive as opposed to delivering on features used as selling points in the last expansion. They’ve already been paid for it, so they basically don’t care about holding up their end – not when they can profit on the next big thing they’ll over promise and under deliver on. Look at how many game systems are a mess: WvW, PvP, they canned dungeons, and now they’re shelving legendary weapons – which were a pretty significant driver for PvE engagement with both old and new content.
It’s also been what, 6 months since HoT launched? And we can only expect 4 total legendaries out of 16 that were promoted with the expansion. Seems like they’ve had plenty of time to breathe, not only since HoT’s launch, but since the point in time where they thought it’d be feasible to include 16 new BiS weapons with the expansion, as a selling point.
There’s a whole lot of “later” with little being done for those foundation issues, and it would seem projects are consistently being dropped by the wayside. I get that Mike is taking over and adjusting the direction development took under Colin, but there are “agreements” with players that still need to be maintained.
Having been a project manager/producer, I feel bad for the team on the legendary project. I’d be livid, were I working for Anet, if my team had been assigned to do something that they obviously couldn’t manage in a reasonable amount of time – the burden of promising too much, with too few people, in too little time. I feel bad for them, as I’m assuming they’ve been crunching to make decent progress, and fixing what had been implemented poorly — and rather than adding some extra resources to finish it faster, they opted to shelve it indefinitely, making it essentially a wasted effort.
Why not stop making new Black lion weapons for a while and bring back a few old BL weapon sets that we can’t anywhere but the trading post? It seems like that takes quite a bit of development to make. I mean, I could be wrong but I think that it’d be a win win for the community. There are quite a few weapons that I missed the first time around that I’d like to get a hold of and you could focus on Legendaries and your other content.
Its a win win! Not everyone will like my solution because in game greed. But this doesn’t make everyone happy either. And I think that rotating old BL weapons back in could be a good solution.
They already do that. Sales/special events bring back old skins.
A BLTC/Gemstore skin =/= legendary journey.
Will this affect the Mastery Tract associated with them (Legendary Crafting 4/4)?
They should give us a mastery point reset, seeing as that one is basically useless now.
Perhaps I should suspend GW2 for some BDO as well.
And just think: if you wander off long enough, GW2’s 3rd ex-pac will come out and give you the second ex-pac for free
.
Truth. At least we know what we’re getting for the next 2-3 years with BDO. Half of GW2’s next xpac will be cut by the time we’ve got our hands on it.
(edited by islarose.7356)
I’m disappointed to know there won’t be any new legendaries for a while, but it’s okay, because having something to do is SO MUCH MORE IMPORTANT. If postponing something like legendaries can guarantee us having anything at all new to do, I’m on board.
Legendary weapons were something to do. They were the reason to run old content, farm events, to put the effort into gathering (to sell mats, as crafting is pretty much useless aside from ascended), to farm keys, to farm silverwastes, to farm the new HoT meta events, to run old dungeons, etc.
For the last year, barring the brief period of HoT being launched, the goal of finally finishing my first legendary was all that kept me playing. Once I finished my first weapon, and realized it wasn’t as tedious or difficult as I thought it would be, I wound up making a second. And then got halfway through Astralaria and Kudzu (through the new collection) before I was drawn away to BDO, where I will stay indefinitely.
Working toward legendary weapons provided way more engagement with content than the few hours it takes to run through the instanced, static, shallow “living” story.
Obviously I go into this knowing that some players will be very upset. That’s why it’s such a tough decision.
Ankdarkwolf, Darkmikau, Ballads, Spira, Caerbannog, Cysgod, you each posted a variant of an accusation I’ve seen many times over the past few months on the forums, something along the lines of, “AN shipped half an expansion with HoT.” I take issue with that. We shipped a new region full of content, a new mastery system, gliding, guild halls, a new profession, nine new elite specializations for existing professions, and more. Then we shipped precursor journeys for existing legendaries, and said, “We’ve been working hard on new legendary weapons, the first handful of which will be introduced in Heart of Thorns, with more to come in subsequent updates.” While I fully get that you’re disappointed today, this is not about us shipping half an expansion pack.
Mo
And you promised more than that, including the legendaries that you’re now scrapping.
Just like people are expecting LS3 and raids, legendary armor, and more. Specifically more content. So when people talk about half an expansion on launch they expect the rest of it to come after. And if you’re scrapping an important part of what was supposed to come people do indeed get upset.
It’s really sad you’re yet again failing to deliver promises. And there’s been plenty examples where you haven’t lived up to expectations.
I really do hope moving forward you have more uplifting news to share, as thus far anything but raids after the expansion has been a huge letdown.
For me it just shows the disconnect with the community. That you don’t know how and what to deliver to make people happy. Simple thing is you can just ask and you will have your answers, but the path of legendaries was set to fail with the unncessesary complications that weren’t rewarding.
So it’s good to see that killed off, but to indefinitely suspend the legendaries themselves is heartbreaking.
They could save themselves the effort and scrap the next expansion’s legendary weapons now.
Can we at least see the concept art or finished designs of the legendaries we aren’t getting?
At least give us this.
I do feel like this is a good move overall. It does feel a lot like there’s a lot of stuff “in the pipeline” or that’s still “hush-hush”, but very little that’s actually ready to ship any time soon. I think it’s a move that could pay dividends in getting more content out over the next 6-12 months that would reach more players. I’d chalk it up as an especial victory if LS3 ended up getting pushed out earlier or some high-demand aspects of content were worked on by those people (e.g. I know it’s getting to be a trite example by this point, but SAB). I’m conscious that six people won’t result in instant content, but, spread between certain other teams, could result in schedules being pushed up which I think would be healthy for the game and well-received by the community.
That said, I’m also conscious that we did get told that we would have new legendaries post-HoT. As such, question: is this likely to be an effectively permanent halt or is it the case that in an ideal world we’d still see the full 16 shipped by the time the next expansion comes out?
Edit: Also I’m seeing a lot of queries along the lines of “we have new gliders/BL weapon skins every few weeks, why can’t people be pulled from that?”. It might be oversimplistic to say, but the overhead for gliders/BL skins is primarily on art – there’s very little serious developer work involved on those compared to anything else. They could probably ship shiny looking things that are skin-only all day without actually taking away from serious design and programming. They’re basically two completely different things.
Razor.9872, Fenom.9457
He said they’d be suspended indefinitely – which usually means it’s not happening, to the extent that it’s not just a question of when, but rather if.
Indefinitely means “for an unlimited or unspecified period of time” or “to an unlimited or unspecified degree or extent”. So, when something is postponed indefinitely, it’s rarely a good or promising sign, i.e., “The wedding has been postponed indefinitely” means they don’t know when it will happen, or even if it will happen, vs. “The wedding has been postponed until next year”.
(edited by islarose.7356)
The precursor creation system is a complete waste of time and effort that serves no purpose.
I have to strongly disagree with that, the journeys lead you through content you may otherwise not have even thought to do and I’ve had a lot of fun doing them. Add to that certain elements of the new legendaries post journey had me more invested in learning the HoT metas than I otherwise would have been and although I couldnt see myself going through that 16 times it was pretty fun the first time.
In regards to the topic I have to say I am both relieved and disappointed at the same time; it would have been really nice to see what other legendarys you guys came up with and I would have at least enjoyed doing the journeys for them but at the same time it feels like it has been too long since regular players have seen any actual story progression and I am excited to see that.
I just hope the gen 2 legendaries dont end up like SaB in a perpetual state of maybe
I actually would have come back for new legendaries. I was just recovering from the last 2.5 I grinded – as that was all that I felt there was to do in game (personally). Now? nah.
I sincerely hope that this has something to do with what a week from today’s date is.
That’d only work if they managed to actually finish the entire HoT legendary collection, and released all of it on April 1.
If they pull this for 3 weapons? bad move. Almost as bad as cutting the weapons entirely for a series of shallow story instances that only take a few hours to finish.
That’s very disappointing, as the new legendary weapons were one of the aspects of HoT I was most looking forward to (as the existing versions of some weapons are very aesthetically unappealing to me).
I’d rather have a new legendary journey – something to put my time toward – than an instanced-based story that I could take or leave, and lasts less than a few hours on playthrough. Unless you’re planning on bringing back LS1-style, open world events, I’m quite certain I’d only bother with LS3 for the sake of unlocking achievements so my character can progress in masteries (if masteries are ever expanded on..).
I didn’t even bother with LS2 until mastery points became an issue, because I despise instanced solo content in MMOs. I have, on the other hand, completed two legendary weapons and stopped on the third tier for astralaria before I was drawn away to another game (BDO).
Thank you for communicating your change in direction though, beats being left hanging.
Tl;dr – I got more engagement, “purpose” in game, and time investment with legendary weapons. LS2 was empty, lifeless, and boring solo/instanced content.
(edited by islarose.7356)
I’m finally getting around to completing my HoT achievements, yet I’m starting to encounter a number of bugs. Specifically, a bug with the Bugs in the Branches adventure (unfortunately, this bug does not count toward my bug total..).
I’ve completed this adventure several times over, yet can’t get credit for the silver tier (which is, from what I understand, 20 bugs). On my last three attempts, I collected 22, 25, and then exactly 20 bugs within the 2 minute time frame, yet it acts as though I’ve failed to even get 10. I do not have the silver tier achievement, I don’t have the mastery point, and I don’t have the chest (needed for collection).
I’ve confirmed within the Adventure summary that I have indeed hit the silver tier mark (in the Lifetime rankings) yet in the “daily” rankings, it says I haven’t gotten any bugs (0). I did try the adventure a week or so ago, but wound up leaving the zone before the timer ran out, as I wanted to get to an event I needed, so.. could that somehow have bugged out the adventure for me entirely?
Seeing as the Heart of Thorns merged bug thread is 68 pages long, I wasn’t able to wade through and see if this was a known issue or if there was a work around. Any assistance would be appreciated.
(There are some theories that the choir is actually faster because you can join on the middle or later songs wich give 3 or 5 gifts were the first 2 songs only give 1 gift each. But on avarage I think it’s about the same as your mediocre JP player.)
Does that account for the time wasted by free play?
I drop out on freeplay, but for me the total process takes little over 5 minutes, and it consistently rewards 18 gifts, plus all of the karma with karma boosters (banner, guild Karma boost, food, utility, candy cane stack, booster, etc.) you can buy more gifts to open, selling the drinks from them.
Choir is more reliable for me than the JP.
Also, the fact that it’s probably just as fast to farm Silverwastes and buy the drinks from the trading post should be viewed as a major design flaw. You created something meant to attract people to the Wintersday activities that is actually just pushing people away from them.
Also also, the fact that you guys ignore anything controversial these days is very concerning. Every time you let something like this go you are sending the message that nothing is wrong. That you think 10,000 drinks is reasonable. That you expected this type of reaction. That you just don’t care enough to actually address these concerns. And more than anything it shows you are completely out of touch with your players.
They do think that 10,000 drinks is reasonable, and that the fact that you need to farm for it is a feature to them, not a flaw. They didn’t create this content to draw people into Wintersday; they created it to draw money & karma out of the economy. They understand that few will be able to farm all their own drinks, and that most will need to buy them through the TP where they take their 15% cut.
You make a really good point here – it was intentional, and this move was successful from Anets perspective, seeing as the JP and Choir Bell activities have been packed with players (to the extent of some not even being able to get in) which I’ve never really seen in a holiday event before.
You have a year to buy what you need after the holiday farm is over.
But you will not be able to farm the gifts after, therefor stopping the suply thus increasing the price if demand stays the same.
If demand remains the same. But it won’t. It can only go down after the holiday ends as more and more people finish or quit trying to get it. There will be the presents from all the accounts that have the tree to continue adding to the supply as well as any flippers who buy now and relist later.
The price isn’t going to go down over time. Especially not with diminishing supply, scarcity (1 gift per day, per account with the tree unlocked), and an achievement that requires 10,000 units. Additionally, with so many of the players putting it off for later, demand will still be there – even if it’s on the backburner.
Unless they add another source for the drinks, if the price goes down at all [after the event] it won’t go down by much.
This could have been avoided if you were on a character that has relatively good mobility such as the following:
- near perma swiftness Engineer (traited)
- Thief equipped with teleports/shortbow
- sword/WH + GS Warrior
- Ranger with RaO elite skill + GSThese classes are generally fast, mobile and can get to places with ease.
Elementalist – Staff (Air 4 – Windborne Speed), Static field + Arcane Blast, Glyph of elemental harmony (in air), lightning flash.
I’ve yet to miss KQ (when I’ve opted to do it) and the fight doesn’t seem to be that much shorter than it has been for the last several months – but she definitely hasn’t been a challenge in a long time.
What might help:
- Get your waypoints in advance. You’re almost always going to miss a fight if you have to run across a map dodging mobs, etc. to get there.
- Participate in the Pre-events, stay with the group, and pay attention to map chat/tags.
- Pay attention to the 3-4 locations she usually spawns. I usually stay between the fort and the island (Camp Karka and Steampipe Steading), but the last several times I’ve done it, KQ has spawned by Kiel’s camp.
- When you’ve finished the pre-event, the game will tell you when she spawns. But watch the map anyway.
- When you see her icon, waypoint and run.
- Consider grouping, not only to ensure you get credit (if she dies too quickly) but also to help you get there in time.
More often than not people will call out the spawn in mapchat, but just being prepared will save you time and frustration, and you’ll manage to get your kill on a regular basis.
That’ s why many of us are waiting before buying the expansion. Myself i only like ranger but right now it’ s too broken..so nothing for now.
I returned mine yesterday. I’m not a regular on the forums, and I don’t frequently lobby criticism, but I’m not impressed with HoT right now, and I realized that if Anet isn’t going to deal with longstanding issues after 3 years, they probably never will — and the bungling gets really old. I don’t even main a ranger or necro, but it’s a reflection on Anet to not even bother engaging with the community, or acknowledging the issue. I don’t want to support that.
It’s sad to lose the hobby, but it’s great for my bank account (former gem whale).
Sorry guys…but am i wrong or TEN TON HAMMER cancelled that article?^
If yes…well..for sure someone put pressure on him…
Anet “asked” them to take it down.
That is speculation. For all we know it could’ve been TTH on their own. Lets not jump to conclusions, shall we?
It isn’t speculation on my part.
Well, you either “know” what has happened from a source via Anet, or you “know” what happened via a source from TTH, or you are speculating. Even if your guess was right, it is just that, a guess.
Not a guess. Someone at TTH.
Seeing as the people working for the site refuses to actually tell people what happened, I would say we most likely don’t have the full story. Even when outright asked if they where forced to take it down they simply spun it around and refused to answer.
Sounds like a PR thing then, but from who?
The funny thing is, I sent Krall DMs on the issue, but they seem to have flown over his head.
Anet really needs to be taught the Streisand Effect.
Apparently you need to learn the “innocent until proven guilty” principle. Got any proof that Anet had anything to do with the take down of the blog?
Yes. But, that comes at a cost to TTH, as they’d probably catch more fire for speaking publicly. Which was the reason they took the blog post down in the first place – they don’t want to damage their relationship with Anet, as it brings traffic to their site.
Do we throw the author and editorial team under the bus to call out Anet? Even when we know Anet is rather unresponsive?
Don’t TTH occasionally get exclusive sneak peeks and first article postings regarding the elite specialisations?
Because it looks super suspicious that they’ve been given privileged access by Anet in their reporting but when they try to cast a critical eye over the development team’s actions, the critical article is pulled so fast that it makes your head spin.
But you know what, guys, just because it looks like they were leaned on to remove their critical press, it doesn’t mean they were. I’m sure this whole highly suspicious event was perfectly cromulent.
They were. And it wasn’t a friendly request.
I get that Anet doesn’t want bad press while they’re courting new players and about to launch HoT, but the article was just highlighting the amazing “BWE Druid First Impressions” post, and some other tidbits (i.e., the minimal dev interaction in the ranger forum) – and it wasn’t criticizing for the sake of criticism, but rather it was from on behalf of players who love the game and want it to be better.
Anet could have used this to showcase that they do care, and that they are dedicated to engaging with the community, etc. instead of basically cementing bad press (the fact that it was removed at Anet’s request is drawing a lot more attention to the article than there would be if it was left alone – Streisand Effect). And sadly, I’m not convinced they have “more community engagement” on their task list. I’m also rather certain that without some major outcry, the validity of the posts the article was based on will get no official attention here.
You guys do realize that you could just ask the people at TTH why they pulled the article? The worst they can tell you is “We don’t discuss this”.
I did. I just don’t want to get them into more trouble.
This isn’t facebook, you can’t just steal something and then wait for your teenage friends to love you for being so clever.
If the OP is afraid of a ban, and the original thread was locked, and someone felt the need to have it here – because it’s a good post – then this isn’t an appeal for approval, it’s because it’s relevant and needs to be seen.
Sorry guys…but am i wrong or TEN TON HAMMER cancelled that article?^
If yes…well..for sure someone put pressure on him…
Anet “asked” them to take it down.
I`m rather disturbed by how this article has been silenced. Does Ten Ton Hammer have no backbone? Free speech clearly not important to them apparently.
They were pressured by Anet to take it down. They depend to some degree on Anet for inside information to drive traffic to their site. They could survive without it, but I’m pretty sure for a gaming site, burning a bridge with a somewhat popular developer isn’t the best business model.
The article was based around the BWE Druid Impressions forum thread that was also locked down (You were saying about free speech? TTH hates it? right.) and criticisms of Anet lodged by PLAYERS about the developers failing to address, even comment on, longstanding issues.
I’m not mad at TTH, I’m mad that Anet was aggressive in getting them to remove the article. Sure, they don’t want bad publicity while they’re targeting new players and preparing to launch HoT, but it was all based on their lack of engagement with the community. They could have taken note and started engaging better, shown that they’re responsive and well-intentioned – but alas, they harassed TTH to take it down instead.
And here, of course, people like you are blaming TTH. Mind boggling.

Persistent Worlds: Where is the Profession Developer Engagement?
Nevermind. Anet had them take it down. I’ll probably get banned here for it. It’s over on reddit, if you haven’t read it. Or find the google cache version.

Apparently changing sound settings to “Fastest” might help.
I doubt they’ll fix this before HoT hits, likely due to changes in the Sylvari storyline (but hopefully the changes to the sylvan personal story will correct the issue!)
Has anyone noticed similar problems in the personal story dialogue for other races?
I’ve had the seed pod carrier equipped on all of my characters, but in the last few weeks, I’ve noticed the sound (upon delivery) for the item fails to play at all. It has one of the best sounds for carriers, and is rather pleasant even when hitting the listing cap on the TP repeatedly.
My sound settings are all on, at equal volume. I’ve tested with music both on and off, and modifying the various volume controls (just for the sake of testing) with no luck. The sound doesn’t play in the preview pane either, yet the sounds for the other carriers work fine – both in preview and when equipped.
Seems as though the audio was disabled, or perhaps the audio file is no longer connected to the item action?
Thanks!
My legit points were striped away too. I only had 11, but they’re gone now :/
Mine too. Made a new character for kittens & giggles, and got the letter just now. I only had 3 GW1 achievements, but I lost them. Even though I never had any of the other the HoM achievements/titles – via exploit or otherwise.

Same here. I only had like, 3 achievements, but they were taken away. I never exploited the system (I wasn’t playing during that time anyway) and I earned all of my AP through other achievements (everything but PvP and WvW, excluding tourneys) which have been accounted for in the UI.
That said, I don’t remember my GW1 character name, and I’m on a laptop so I’m not going to hassle with re-linking it to try to fix it on my end ATM.

Not sure if this has been filed yet, but I just noticed when running the first chapters (up to level 20 so far) of Personal Story for my sylvari character, the voice dialogue isn’t playing – typically for Caithe (usually her first few statements don’t play in each cutscene), but occasionally other NPC dialogue fails to play as well.
No issue with player character voice dialogue in said cutscenes, and I’m not sure how long the issue has been present, as I didn’t have a problem in the PS for my human character last month.
I just completed bifrost about three weeks ago, and noticed that the footfalls for my character frequently don’t appear, while the footfalls for other legendaries (Bolt, Dawn/Dusk/Eternity) do.
When running through LA, particularly between the TP/MF-Bank/Crafting stations, my footfalls are maybe present half of the time. Is this an issue with New LA, or has this always been an issue with The Bifrost? I don’t notice it as much in other zones, but it is somewhat disappointing, to say the least.
I see nothing wrong with them being inclusive to all players.
Teq does have a crit spot, it is just further back. Best way to describe the spot is directly beneath his belly, behind his arms when he is idle.
That’s ridiculous. If you’re going to permit crits on world bosses, it shouldn’t be a janky positioning requirement. If you hit the target, the crit chance should apply.
Full organized map failed Teq, didn’t even hit 50% or first burn phase. Overdid it, as per usual.
I get the boost for bosses like Fire Elemental, Shatterer, etc. as they melted especially fast after the patch, but other bosses are taking a fairly long time, to the extent you risk ending up in an overflow map for the next boss. The overflows are truly screwed, as the fight takes even longer and has a greater chance to fail— and more importantly, they still don’t require skill (apart from strategy fights like Teq and Triple trouble).
Definitely needs some fine tuning, Anet. Get your staff in world to see how badly this was done. (As they did post trait patch, which I imagine it why the boost took place)
Edit: Nevermind, they changed it back.
“Jon Peters just said on WTS stream that Elemental Attunement is becoming a minor trait. I assume it’s in Arcana. I think it’s better than what we have now, but still think it would deserve to be a baseline, this will force eles in Arcana again.”
While working on map completion in Bloodtide Coast, I and several other players were unable to complete the Stormbluff Isle challenge (Deputy Crackshot @ Stormbluff beacon). The targets are not registering being hit by the cannonball. I’ve successfully completed the challenge on other characters in the past, but after several attempts on different cannons & aiming for different targets, nothing works. While testing this, five other players attempted to complete the challenge, and also failed.
Perhaps something happened between the hot fix two months ago and now?
I submitted a bug in-game, but I wanted to submit a report here as well.
Edit: just attempted the second from left cannon, and the far left target, and managed to get it. I have screenshots of some of the “failed” shots that show the targets being hit precisely, but no credit given. I’ll upload them tomorrow, if need be.
