It actually bufs Rangers in an area, where they previously lacked: Dungeons and large scale fights.
That Guard buff coupled with the pet def buff is simply huge.The Signet buffs are nice overall.
It is actually a big thing for Rangers, as it will allow them to be more viable in every part of the game.

What happen here is they upgrade all class. So nothing special. What I got is a heartache, disappointed and jealous to other class. I W8 this for to long hoping that ranger will have advantage to other but its like nothing.

They are basically invulnerable to anything that isn’t a thief as it is and only them because they can sneak in. I’m tired of getting knocked back as soon as I get close only to have to eat 10000 arrows to get close again. Even IF I do manage to get close again, I get the liberty to eat 50 traps that stack insane conditions. I can’t even see them on the ground so I can’t possibly know how to avoid them.

FYI trap ranger is the only build that can fight to warrior, guardian and a Dagger user thief. Weakness of this build is mesmmer, elem, enginer,necro and a thief pistol user

increase attribute each time you kill a foe. (max 25 stacks and ends on down)
the master bond stack to your other pet even you swap.
what i mean here, is everytime i swap pet the master bond reset.
when i jump to water then go to the land my pet dont have the master bond buffs.
so please make the master bond stack to other pet even you swap pet and it will end if you down.
for example: sigil of corruption it only ends when you down.

its really pain to my ranger. especially if I fight to mesmer before I finish stomp mesmer I already down! try it and you see how pain is that. the pet skill is still not responding even its CD if Ipress pet skill nothing happen need to press a lot of times to respond the pet skill. I am toughness build and mesmer easily kill me same as thief. looks like toughness for ranger is nothing just the condition damage is working.
I hate my ranger! stomping enemy to slow! no advantage at all!
PVP is different to WvsW.
WvW is a subgroup of PvP, but if you were confused, then let me clarify: I was talking specifically about sPvP (structured player vs player) and tPvP (tournament player vs player).
WvsW is different to PvP specially the accessories and the weapon stat. And don’t say That the trap ranger don’t rely on quickness when swapping pet, the spider need a quick attack so that there skill don’t just lunch on the ground, the wolf and dog they need a quick leap and then at that time you can use your entangle. If you use short bow you need that quickness to put a lot of bleed to enemy. Don’t just make a test on PVP try on WvsW and you gonna see the difference… Use a ranger when you go WvsW
I’m still here and lurking about (as is the balance team), gathering information to bring to meetings. For the first couple days after a patch, people are still figuring things out and getting used to changes. We didn’t kill rangers (I was doing some PvP last night, and have done a couple dungeon runs). It’s just that there’s a predictable reaction to when we change something, that we have killed classes and destroyed builds, and there’s nothing I can say or do to help in those situations. Sometimes you have to sit back and let the community sort themselves out… people depend on something (quickness) and then when that gets changed, there’s an initial period of confusion, but its always followed by “look what I can do” because people are being forced to try new things, and they do a bit of experimenting they may have not have done before.
Sure things need more attention. LB, pets, spirits.. they all need some love on our part, and they will get it. I may not be the best PvP’r out there, but I was first/second place on my team in the three games I played as a ranger (deer rank!), and I was still effective against other classes. the new quickness speed will take some getting used to, but it by no means destroyed rangers.But me going into every thread about someone claiming bad things and giving expressions isn’t going to help (there are also a lot of those threads that I just wouldn’t be able to keep track of due to time constraints). So I sit back, watch, take notes for meetings, and try to find a good time to post to help guide the conversation.
1) While I understand the idea of “letting the community sort itself out”, the logic of that doesn’t stand up to the current circumstances.
The reason is that nothing really big has changed in the ranger profession to make any new build really offset the current situation, at least in PvE. The only potential changes that would positively offset the nerf in the area of PvE performance is the buff to the greatsword. However, greatsword builds aren’t new and this isn’t the first time there has been a buff to the greatsword to give the weapon attention.
There have been no buffs to utility, so the ranger isn’t suddenly going to have viable support builds discovered.
The greatsword is also so far behind anything like a warrior in PvE that there’s no way a few small tweaks to a few of the skills on the greatsword that it would overcome not only how much lower the greatsword was in dps compared to the short bow/longbow, but also to overcome the dps loss of the quickness nerf.
2) I don’t think the complaints about the ranger have much to do with PvP since trap builds don’t rely on quickness like beserker PvE dps builds do.
PVP is different to WvsW.
Are we still playing BETA? Lots of change, lots of nerf…

So that we can tell to the GM what is the Problem instantly in the game.
So that GM can catch all the boot inside the game

Or maybe just for favour because ranger is the worse class since day 1 maybe they can make it like: Gain 2 sec invulnerability when you swap pet
in this case you can counter the thief now. Because thief punish the ranger since day 1

I think they should put back the default speed of quickness when you swap a pet.
Or else remove that traits and change it. Like fear your enemy for 3 sec when you swap pet. Or gain 5 sec regeneration when you swap pet or Bleed your enemy when you swap pet. Something like that. Because Gain quickness when you swap pet is now useless.

The entangle CD need to reduce also. This elite is easy to avoid easy to scape and easy to destroy they should reduce the CD of entangle. And make the duration of bleed damage in just 5 or 4 sec. Because they can just loose the condition damage quickly. 11 sec is to long to put the exact amount damage by the entangle to the enemy.
I appreciate the comments that all traits and skills need to be considered but we were told by JPeters in November that the ranger profession was in the most need of improvement and that Pet AI, trait lines without enough viable choices, and skills that were too specialized to compliment weapon builds. Four months later our Pet AI (slightly better), trait lines, and skills are still in the same boat. Robert, this is where the frustration comes from. We are told the ranger class needs the most help but yet none of the topics mentioned have been adjusted very much if at all. I’m still playing my ranger b/c it is my favorite class but it requires a heck of a lot more concentration and strategy to play then my warrior or mesmer.

And by the way just want to ask. Why the ranger speed reduce when there pet is engage to battle? Even I have the buffs of speed booster + the horn buffs its like my pet is pulling me even w/out cripple. PVP and WvsW are different so please make some test on WvsW not just on PvP.
FYI: accesories in pvp are different to WvsW + the stats of weapon.

A ranger quick stomp is the only advantage they have compare to other class.
Quick stomping is not a problem thats the assets of ranger. The problem if someone stomp you using a hide skill that’s more worst.
Since day 1 ranger is like a puzzle. Its to hard to make your ranger to be a Best class. Some player delete and quit playing there ranger. But some didn’t give up they think how they make there ranger best. Now that the quickness nerf they need to think and challenge again. Have mercy to ranger

No that skill of warrior is easy to avoid compare to the skill of thief. You just need to be smart. Now that the quickness is useless they should change the 1st five traits for BM. They can change like fear your enemy for 3 sec when you swap a pet, or remove condition when you swap a pet, or gain 5 sec of healing when you swap a pet.
Using Quickness for ranger = Death
5 sec w/out heal and just for firing like normal
The question is. How can Ranger kill the elem now? Quickness help ranger to kill elem and especially thief now reducing attack speed is a big pain to my ranger
That is a big pain for my ranger. QZ is the life of my ranger every swap of my pet is my HOPE to add some damage, to do some advantage to enemy. Why they nerf the ranger Quickness?

Thieves are only extremely strong on initiation if you actually see a thief running towards you he is most likely to Steal CnD backstab combo you. So all you have to do is learn the Steal range dodge when you estimate is close enough he misses his Steal there goes around 4-6k of his burst damage and he wasted his basilisk venom as well. Now say if a Thief is already cloaked and homing into your position you need to react fairly fast once you see a damage tick, use a break stun blink skill or invul skill and boom his burst is gone, now happy hunting!

Lol prove what you saying make a video men! After you do all that thing, the thief will just reset the fight, and while you waiting for your dodge to regen, they can spam HS again because there initiative regen is to fast. After you do all that thing you been punished of waiting for your skill because its Cool down, while thief can hit you again because there is no Cool down for there skill. And the bad thing is when thief press a wrong bottom but they miss and they are on stealth mode they still invisible., so if you succesfully dodge there attack is nonsense because they are still invisible, because the rule is they need to hit first before they revealed. Nice what a balance…
And this is the truth a thief can scape to you easily, while other class is having trouble to scape or sometimes no its always, you can’t scape to thief.

Thief need to punished when they miss there attack while on stealth mode. They need to revealed there self if they miss the attack or if they use another skill. That is a lot of favor for thief. If they miss they are still on stealth mode or even they use another skill if they dont hit something they are still on stealth mode. While other class is punished when they miss there skill, what a balance. And even you dodge a lot there initiative regen a lot faster. Wow…
If you guyz saying that thief are balance and you can counter the thief easily. Make a video and be sure its not death match and be sure the thief you gonna fight is good. Lvl 80 thief not low lvl thief. And not on Spvp. Make it on w vs w. Prove it. We post a lot of video on how O.P. are thief are. So post a video too.
And this is why you should stop farming to your legendary, this is why if you see thief go log out, this is why boring to fight thief. It’s hard to make out exactly what you are suggesting, but I am pretty sure you are no friend.
Hitting stuff ends stealth, a long duration stealth on a large cooldown will eliminate it as combat tool, including all the little benefits that replace some of the boons other classes get. Without those benefits, without the boons that other classes get, and without the damage from stealth skills this means every thief could as well be deleted. Suggesting we delete our character automatically puts you in the not-a-friend category.
Im am your friend., 1st of all we need you in a group or party before we engage to battle w/out you we die to all the black thiefs in the battleground., we just want to make the same venom kill there own venom. And the rules are we need to be near at you like 3000 range to activate that bufs.. If your white thief die, the bufs will no longer effective., so we need to revive you a.s.a.p it means thief will contribute a big role for the battle.,
And because we need your help., you need our help too. Why because you can’t capture a supply camp, tower or fortress. It means team work. Sounds good right?

So if you have a “white thief” in your group that gives you buffs, you’re basically immune to any other opposing thief with your idea. So you suggest having a thief in your group to be able to see a thief 100% of the time which would basically give you super powers over all enemy thieves. I would propose a major damage reduction or an increase in the damage you take if you have this buff active. After all, if you want to see us, there has to be some risk involved.
In all reality, your proposal would nerf thieves to the ground as our stealth would be useless. It would eliminate backstabs and sneak attacks, not to mention give us no defensive skills. The Shadow Arts tree would have to be completely reworked to account for your proposal, and the bottom line is that it’s completely unrealistic. I’m all for hearing people out, but this isn’t a fix, it’s a gigantic advantage for everyone else and turns thieves into a useless class.
Looks like you dont know your benefits if you are on a permanent stealth right? Try to fire your pistol when you are on a stealth mode looks like machine gun right? The class is designed around stealth get over it already. They put all (and I mean all ) or defensive traits in stealth. Unless they plan to rework the class from scratch and make us warriors I don’t see a point in all this kittening. And that is exactly what it is. Right now thief is a class is hell of a position. The community hates the class but good players realize its an easy counter. We simply don’t have the ridiculous access to buffs that every other class has so we have no true bunker. Our aoe options is relatively weak compared to other classes. Our burst is strong but our sustained isn’t anything special. Just like mesmers have clones we have stealth. that’s our gimmick and its necessary. So lets stop with the jokes.

Seriously l2p lots of thread and information out there if half of you spent half the time you spend complaining learning hoe to play your classes then there would be no thread like this.
For reference sake I don’t Play DD at all or PD or SP Dp at all. I am SD 100% my burst comes from auto attack half the time you can see me stealth boost my dps by a whopping 0 but I need it just to survive half the skills they give other classes. I am not invulnerable while its up the healing is pitiful but I know its necessary.
One day give a warrior a thief with equal gear and have them auto tack each other and see who dies first try it.

all our traits are around stealth: blind on stealth, +2 ini on stealth, regen hp on stealth, gain might on stealth, remove condition on stealth….

Hell no. It’s bad enough as it is at the moment and you’re suggesting permanent stealth? What happens when you aren’t running with a thief in you group? Some people do not always run with the zerg in WvW.
Thats your problem. You have to find a white thief before you engage into battle. Let us treat the thief special. It means we need thief if we go to battle make sense right? Its like team work. If you dont have white thief in your side you die., sounds like friendship again., and if we see a die thief we are going to force to revive them a.s.a.p it means we have to protect the friendly white thief another thrill right?

Now there is a new build out there they works of heartseeking through a smokebomb to stealth you. That’s every 6 seconds. Its called the perma stealth build and it basically means you are fighting an invisible enemy you can’t target.
Anet really needs to look into this. Its not like nearly every GW2 forum is filled with thief hate already, and for good reason to.
That’s not a new build, but requires a thief to go at least 20 into acrobatics and 10 into shadow arts to maintain the initiative to do so (the combo costs 8 in total I believe, 2/3 of our total pool) effectively taking a lot of burst out of the thief. As to what you were originally commenting on, a lot if people say that thieves abuse stealth/culling and are in fact holding players accountable for a problem that they had no control over, especially if they wanted to play a certain way (not S/P or unicorn bleed). It should be understandable that thieves would be defensive about ourselves especially when we are simply using the abilities available to us.
firstly, its a shame people blaming thieves for the culling issue, but I can see how annoying it is when you lose target and only get a very small window of opportunity to actually hit the thief.
As for the build I was talking about, I agree it does drop the burst of a thief. Burst has never really been that much of a problem. The main problem with that build is you can’t see or target the thief 90% of the time and while invis the thief is healing so basically he/she always sits on 100% health. I think perhaps a warrior could guess a 100 blades and get lucky. But for some class that can’t swing wildly around i.e. scepter or staff elementalists/ bow rangers/ scepter guardians you can’t do a single thing to stop your death, even running away isn’t an option with a thieves mobility.
Stealth has always been the tricky mechanic with MMO’s, not a single game I have played has got it right since it gives the player such a clear advantage when you’re invisible.
Things they should change: If a thief attacks they should be revealed on a miss as well – stop with this carebear attitude of only letting them do damage first before revealing them. If someone manages to evade a stealthed attack let them be rewarded for getting the timing right. It should go both ways. Its basic game design – reward players for doing something right.
Increase the reveal effect. A few seconds is barely enough when you mix in the thieves mobility, culling, lag. No more allowing thieves to reset fights after a few seconds. that’s rubbish.
burst damage is high but I can live with that. Allow them to attempt an opening, burst you down to low health then fight it out. None of this restealth then repeat. Thieves need to start earning their kills, they have had it on easymode for too long.
You are right i dont care about there damage. What i care is there over using of stealth and even after they finish the enemy still on stealth how insult and annoyed is that?
Who said thief waste his/her initiative? When you dodge? Look how fast is the recovery of there initiative and how thief insult the enemy even thief is on the enemy lines

My observations:
I am farming some mobs in frostgorge and saw a thief kill a lvl 80 mob in 1 hit with backstab. So I asked him if he does that in WvW and his reply was all the time. Screenshot attached for proof of this. Sure, he could just be saying that, but I’ve seen the exact same thing happen in WvW. Maybe not 1 hit, but I’ve seen them kill in 2. The fact that they can stealth from what roughly seems every 5 seconds is also slightly ridiculous. A thief without any support set can solo a supply camp as well. If you’re any other class, you will most likely need some support equipment to take a supply camp yourself.
I’m sure I’m going to get flamed for this, but this is just my observations.
Maybe its just because I’m a condition build, but I wish I could kill a lvl 80 as a ranger in 1 hit.
A warrior can kill a frostforge mob just as fast. So can a ranger, guardian, elementalist, engineer, and mesmer with the right glass cannon setup.
Seems like you have a problem with glass cannon builds, not the thief.

But atleast they did a good job for this. This the only free to play game that make a good deal for us. Good graphics and no lag., except if your net is slow., this is mean that you need a thief in your class creation. So if you are anoyed by thief you can just log in your thief too.. I’m all for a little stealth nerf, but always remember that the thief will only be “perma-stealthed” if you let him.
Without landing his Cloak and Dagger (easily avoidable), he will have to face long cooldowns to get into stealth.
See guyz this is the only problem.. Its not easy to avoid C&D if thief can stab it anywhere., espicially to ranger and necro and mesmmer., how you can avoid C&D if your pet is near to the thief and your illusion is not moving? Thats why the only solution that will not hurt the Thief is to make there C&D effective only when they succesfully stab at the back of the enemy not on the front or the side., its there profession so why not make the C&D effective only if they stab on the back?
