just a thought but id like to have the option to switch between the old, hot, and pof login screens. the nostalgia you know?
but is it random? what procs it? are there different things that are said depending on your race gender story choices? any other factors?
i would like to have 5 toons (1 for each playable race) and have already decided on making a guard, mesmer, ranger, and engineer. as for my last one ive narrowed it down to either a thief, ele, or necro. i dont want to make all three since i would hardly be able to maintain the five i want. any suggestions? i spend most of my time playing pvp and wvw. i dont run fractals often but im thinking of getting into raiding one day.
ive been tickering with the reaper power and condi builds and have noticed ive been having trouble with a few classes… as in tons of trouble. your trpical lb staff druid kicks my ass because of the stealth and ancient seed. daredevils whether they play power or any variation of the condi builds. then theres condi chronos. theyre prettt elusive. i forgot to mention interrupts from daredevils and condi removal on daredevils is frustrating to deal with. id appreciate some combat tips. i really want to get into reaper but atm it feels like such a kittenty class since its easy to kite them. reapers cant stealth. they cant block. their only block only affects projectiles and when they.cast it it weakens them.
those people that auto balance, switch teams, or leave the match when theyre losing. i wish it would at least count as a forfeit or loss on their records.
i dont have much experience with thief/daredevil in pve. before the specializations came out i would hear its difficult. has that changed?
Immob druids are annoying. Best way to deal with is a shout/trooper rune build to get rid of the frequent immobs. Traditional condition management of necros is struggling here by design – you are not doing anything wrong!
For a reaper the best way to deal with power based thieves are proc based power builds like this one:
http://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Reaper_-_Power_BoonstripWhy does it work so well?:
Drop a few marks at your feet (=area of denial), do some axe autos. Build up a few might stacks and get the teef slowly to about 60% health – just don’t scare him! :-)Then enter shroud when he goes melee: Spiteful Spirit, Hydromancy, Air, Chill of Death, Chilling Nova will proc at once at a 100% crit. chance and instakill or make him run away with 5% health left.
ive used a very similar build to this one. the difference was that i was using all shouts and soldier rune. however the issue im having is specifically with interrupt thieves. just about every since move i make has a long enough cast time for him to react in time to headshot me and proc a pulm. i tried maxing out my sources for stab but ive had little to no luck. i can deal with any other class and every other thief build just fine.
reaper attacks are pretty easy to interrupt. ive been practicing a lot with the power reaper and ive seen improvement against all classes and builds except interrupt daredevils. im feeling defeated at this point so id appreciate any evidence or advice to show me its possible to beat an interrupt thief as a power reaper.
100% crit chance in shroud isn’t so great when you are perma cced, pick Foot in the Grave.
Reaper’s Onslaught is cool but your life force will disappear so quickly..
pick Blighter’s Boon for more sustain:
shroud 1=1might,
striking foes under 50% hp gives 2might/1s
striking chilled foes give 1might/1s
I suggest you to drop “You Are All Weaklings!” for Summon Flesh Wurm.
For the second build.. Rune of Chronomancer + Greatsword is love
tried some of your suggestions. still struggling a bit but doing hella better thanks

these arent the only builds i tried but the others are a variation of these
so ive been testing out some builds for power necros and have found myself having tons of trouble against druids and interrupt thieves. getting immobilized… that sucks. i mean what am i supposed to do? my mark to transfer it is on cd and my shouts are on cd… so ok ill just sit here and take it while i slowly cast auto attack on my staff or axe or desperately attack nothing with my gs. then theres the interrupt thieves. just when you think hes out of initiative and you try to cast something hes like nope HEADSHOT! and now youre sure hes out of initiative. NOPE STEAL!… k now youve got nothing DISTRACTING DAGGERS! im just wondering if im the only power necro having trouble with this. keep in mind i dont have much experience with necro to begin with.
like the title says. anyone have any builds theyd like to share? i do tons and tons of roaming alone or with 1 other person in wvw
im trying to make the greatsword work but enemies like the thief especially interrupt thieves or druids that have immobilize kill me without a scratch on them. anyone have any power builds that use the greatsword that theyd be willing to share?
im practicing the power chrono in wvw. i do a hell of a lot of roaming. however im having no success. does anyone have a noob friendly version of the burst chrono theyd like to share? any tips would help as well. thanks
it doesnt look like chronos are very good at all at the moment. most of them i fight in wvw or pvp dont last long in a fight. sometimes i spectate and see most losing a 1 v 1. i got on mine and ran the burst shatter and condi chrono and have had trouble fighting in 1 v 1 as well especially against thieves. is the chrono in a bad state at the moment or do i normally run into bad chronos?
I’m totally on board for druid and herald balances. I don’t much care for the signet balance since I don’t use it.
I’ve been at it for weeks. The viable one I have made includes conditions and I have to run viper gear. However, I would like to eliminate the condition damage. I can kill just about any build pretty quick with this build unless they have resistance or a quick way for putting distance between me and them, but I still don’t like the condition damage aspect of it too much. Plus, if I get locked down I go down easily. Does anyone have any build they’d like to share or any tips? Thanks.
I use a hit and run tactic. I irritate my opponent and have them chase me. With a heavy it’s difficult to do this because I don’t have a weapon to deal damage on the run. My mesmer has rhe scepter and a bunch of other blocks to apply condi. My engi can reflect constantly. My ranger has multiple ways to keep it’s distance. And then there are rhe heavies… I can’t think of anything like that. So I guess my problem boils down to sustain and control.
I suck. There’s nothing more to it. I can’t play a heavy. Would anyone care to pitch in their 2 cents and help me pick a heavy and toss in some examples on how to fight using that class? Thanks.
I don’t know if you are more into pvp than I am but I find my mace/focus guardian has plenty of defence options, and can certainly hold her own against a lot of pve mobs. She does take a while to kill anything so anything that regenerates can be a problem and give for very long fights. Part of it is learning to time the blocks so that they are effective against a specific attack rather than trying to use them for general defence. She certainly isn’t a meta build but that type of thing has never interested me I just go for what I find fun to play.
If you try the heavies with slightly different builds or weapon sets, you might find one you can enjoy playing.
I’ll give your idea a try. I have made a chrono build that focuses on blocks torment and confusion. So I’m sure I can do something similar with a heavy.
So I have 2 mediums and a light character. However, I’ve been trying to make a heavy for crafting purposes since it would be nice to take advantage of the heavy armor I would be making. However, I hate everything about heavy classes. And I mean I hate how they are designed. I don’t like playing them. Is there anyone who doesn’t have lights or heavies? Or even mediums? I feel awkward using a crafting discipline on a character that cannot take advantage of the entire discipline.
I felt like you do about heavy armor character. I do enjoy my Dragon Hunter. Have you gotten any heavy characters into their elite specs? It is really hard to judge any character until you can fully use their skills.
I enjoy playing in 1 v 1 hotjoin maps, but pvp isn’t really my thing. What I do most of the time is roam around alone or with 1 other person and fight groups as big as maybe 5 or smaller.
Well the issue with the rev is the energy management. Then there’s the guard. When you pop your shield virtue the smart enemy runs away or buys time until your shield runs out. The war has stances and the enemy can do the same. The issue I’m having with heavies is sustainability. They seem to lean too heavily on offence and when it comes to defense other classes can outlast them. I don’t know what I’m doing wrong.

im thinking of making one of either but idk which one to stick with. i wouldnt have time to manage both. im making a heavy for crafting purposes but i want to be able to put up a good fight in any given situation. whats the general opinion about them?
so when is the next seasonal update? im dying to know what theyre going to fix about the rev
I can’t see my back piece when I have a shield there. If I just had a box I could check/uncheck to choose whether I wanted to see my shield or back piece I’d be happy enough.
do you guys think the revenant will get any better in the future? im not referring to the bugs getting fixed but whether or not it will become a staple in things like small roaming groups in wvw, dungeons, etcetera etcetera. right now i feel that its hard enough managing a 1v1 on a revenant while i can even 2v1 on my engi and ranger rather easily. what do you guys think? will there be a significant improvement for the revenant in the seasonal patch? the build variety also feels a lot more limited than the other classes.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I’m aware that the rev has quite a long list of bugs. I just hope those bugs will be addressed very soon.
I’m not a big fan of heavy classes, but I’d like one for crafting purposes. I need help deciding between warrior or revenant. I’ll mostly be crafting on it, pvp, and roaming alone or with a friend in wvw. Any suggestions?
Just out of curiosity.
I just feel the need to say that it bothers the crap out of me that my backpiece disappears when I put a shield on my back. I’d really like to see it even if it looks a little funky when I have a shield on my back. I don’t mind so much that that happens when I dance or do some emote thing. It’s just something that bothers me.
well ive tried different builds but none of them allow me to finish a 1v1. we either fight forever until someone interferes or i get bursted. right now im running a z erker build with zero condi removal. the sigils are fire and air in pvp (energy and air in wvw). im using a gs and sw/sh. and im using the pack rune. the classes i have the hardest time with are thieves that use staff or dagger on main hand. well any class that focuses on melee for damage. i can handle ranged classes pretty well. it goes without saying i get melted by condi builds
does anyone know whether or not the mesmer/chrono will be getting a buff in the near future for the sake of wvw or pvp? im having a lot of trouble with mine.
I’m not aware whether this was part of the recent patch, but I found it not too long after it. There’s a spot between the OG reactor and the observatory that you can use to get into the keep without using siege nor any portals. It simply requires a 25% boost in speed and a jump. It’s like a jumping puzzle with a single jump. IF ANet ends up doing something about this, so be it. I’m just tossing this out there in case you want to save some money on siege.
I was about to delete my character. That would’ve been a waste of an experience scroll.
I’ve been at it for over half a year. I want to have one soldier, one adventurer, and one scholar. I have an engi and I know I’’’ either have a warrior or revenant, but I can’t decide which scholar to keep. I’d like to hear what you guys think of each scholar to help me make up my mind. Thanks.
