I’m torn on this one. It is after all WVW; it is to a certain degree, the world pvp for those of us who like to battle other players (not spvp). On the other side, it is annoying when all you want to do is map completion or run a JP and some kitten decides to mess with you when it is clear you have no intention of fighting.

I usually let others pass by at the JPs. If they start a fight then yes, I’ll fight them. I guess I view JPs as a place where people go to take a break from all the killing. I realize you can get siege from JPs, but having said that, if your enemy depends on JPs to get their siege, then you probably have nothing to fear from them anyway.

In my opinion, I think James from Choo is one of the best commanders I’ve ever seen. Win or lose, I’ve seen him lead in some amazing epic fights, both on the field and in keeps. In SoR we are lucky to have some of the best commanders I think GW2 has to offer, but that come to mind… James without a doubt.

I think its healthy for WVW that not a single server is stacked to a point where there is no viable competition that can beat said server; think professional sports. I think WVW would be much more exciting and dare I say more rewarding if all servers had a shot at making it to T1. As a member of SoR from day one, I know what its like to go up and down the tiers, and I know that you don’t have to be in Tier 1 to have a rewarding and competitive matchup. Regardless, I would like to see closer matches and more movement up and down the tiers.

Just my two cents… ok, maybe three cents.

For those of us unfortunate souls who are at work or busy with family aggro… score updates anyone?

Now… I’m not asking for the usual boring score update; would like to see some creative score updates

Then either you completely misunderstand us or we are failing to accurately convey our gaming philosophy. We are obviously on opposite ends of the gaming spectrum.

Some will do anything to win, others have more of a philosophy which guides what they are willing and not willing to do to win; in some cases winning is not even the ultimate goal. It is not so much a matter of right or wrong, high or low, but of taste, gaming philosophy and style.

We are not better or holier, but just different than you. We care more about how we win than just just winning by any means necessary. Hopefully that explains who we are a bit better and clearer.

If the gold raised was for transfer cost only then I see no issue, however, if gold was given as payment/bribe, then my choice words are for them. We are innocent until proven guilty, yes even you MERC :-p

I’m not saying that BG did or didn’t buy guilds. I really don’t know either way.

But I do know that in competitive sports, team management often pays huge sums of money to acquire high performance players.

It’s not seen as being wrong if the Yankees payroll is over 100 million dollars a year, why is it such a big deal if people fork over virtual money to get players to their side?

Honestly I’m surprised that there hasn’t been a bidding war between servers to secure all the big name guilds.

Great speech by Indo; anyone who knows him knows that these speeches are not necessarily planned, but spoken from his heart and soul. Though corny and cheesy at times, his speeches do in many respects represent what we are all about in SoR.

We’re in for a couple rough weeks, but that’s nothing to us; we’ve seen darker days back in the day. As you can tell we take great pride in the solid community that we have build since launch. We’re in it for the long haul, regardless of how many times we may go up or down in the rankings. True progression for us is not ppt or tier 1, but growing and continuously improving our community; the right way, not just buying off guilds.

Speaking of which, what little respect I had for BG has probably now completely disintegrated; much the same with MERC. We all have different play styles, and so long as they follow the terms and conditions laid out by Anet, all is fair in love and war.

However, having said that, paying off guilds with thousands of gold to come join your server demonstrates how low some will go for ppt and ranking; on the part of both BG and MERC (and any others who took the bribes). It is not that the behavior displayed by BG and MERC is beneath me or the guilds in our server, this is not a holier than thou rant far from it, but I guess you could say it is more of a complete different gaming mentality and “language”.

Regardless of how despicable I may find MERC’s “soulless” move to BG, this is after all just a game, and though it causes me to gag a bit saying this, I do sincerely wish them nothing but the very best in their endeavors; however contrary they may be to our philosophy in SoR.

Most of us on SoR play for the fights and to have a good time. We could care less about coming in first. If it happens, it happens….but it isn’t our goal each time we go out there and brawl.

I mean yeah, everyone plays games to have fun but I would expect most people on your server to consider winning a big part of that. It may not be very realistic, but the goal must be to win right?

Just not sure I am buying the whole if it happens it happens thing. People that play in T1 on one of the top servers in the game investing tons of time, effort and in game currency on something that has no reward other than winning makes the statement hard to believe. If it were true it is disappointing. I would hope that anyone in the top tier is there for the primary reason to take top spot.

I’m from SoR. We have won our matchup 3 times in the last 3 months or so. If the players on SoR cared so much about only winning, we would have stopped playing a long time ago. We are here to have some fun with friends and to enjoy the competition. “Winning” our matchup is clearly secondary.

Agreed. Though it always feels great to win, what matters most to us is having fun while killing and getting killed in wvw. We love epic battles, close fights and competitive servers to fight against; regardless of the tier. SoR is nothing like JQ or SoS. Unlike you guys, we spent most of our time in the middle brackets, many times getting beaten pretty badly. Most of us have had plenty of time to leave SoR, but we didn’t. What first drew us and to this day maintains us in SoR is the community. With the exception of a couple rotten apples (all servers have them), I believe SoR has the best community in GW2.

Too much bickering and fighting last week between servers. Im not in a guild though, only a nub pug using SM supplies to fix outer walls when the treb hasn’t been countered yet. JK about the SM bit.

That’s unfortunate. Save for just one or two, most in SoR are pretty good in the forums. I would like to know though which guild you’re in (doubt you’re just a pug)

Agreed… it’s just a game. That’s not to say that real life values will not affect the way you play, but at least in my opinion, there’s a very clear line between getting excited over a game (healthy) and getting all kitten off over a game (unhealthy). When we were getting constantly beaten by FA, SoS and BG I did not get kitten off, but realized that win or lose I was having fun running with my pals in game… remember, it’s just a game.

Back in the day I would get really kitten off over WOW, until I realized how stupid I looked as my wife just sat there and laughed at her foolish husband.

People, just enjoy GW2… have fun! If you find yourself no longer having fun, then do something about it or just go find another game.

Running to your thief comrade and attempting to make a stand was also enjoyable, but in the end, pointless. We both knew what was coming, and yet you still ran. Right into where your zerg was battling a smaller TC group. Did you think they would stop me? Did you think a screen full of red toons would keep me from you? I had chased you across half the map, did you think I would make the smart choice and run away? I’ve been at work this whole weekend so I’ve been missing out on all the fun. But yeah, we never give up and never stop fighting; probably why I respect TC (PINK) so much.
SoR has been tested and i think we are finally ready for Tier 1. I’m looking forward to the opportunity to being tested in Tier 1.

I can’t speak for any other guilds, or any other Coasters, but I feel like PiNK has grown so much since we hit t2. Score aside, its great getting to play against so many t1 caliber guilds every night then learn to counter or copy them. Working with DiS was awesome and I hope the other guilds on TC realize the opportunity to improve everytime you take the field. I see WvW becoming GvG more and more over the coming months with the inadaquacies in server populations, and this is the boot camp.

Agreed. As guilds grow and improve (including ours), fights in wvw are becoming more fun and epic. Well organized guilds are becoming more important and tactically more decisive in combat. It is a form of GvG that I’m enjoying immensely; especially when fighting amazing guilds such as [PINK]

Much respect to the folks from [PINK]. I already know you won’t leave TC, but if the impossible were to ever happen, we would love to have you guys join us in SoR

SoR has an awesome community, great history behind the naming of the server and one of the best and most competitive wvw communities. We may not always win, but we never give up.

Guys… Can we please everyone just calm down. No need to provoke anyone and no need to fall for the bait either. Both SoR and TC are above this behavior. To any from TC who were offended by Ascii’s post, please know that it does not represent SoR as a server. Regardless of whether we win or lose, demeaning our opponents is not how we roll in SoR; especially TC and the way they’ve fought these past couple weeks, I think TC deserves more respect.

The argument of SoR going up to tier 1 only goes so far; just look at Maguuma and Kaineng. No disrespect to TC, they still have awesome guilds; PINK and company. The assumption that SoR never dealt with any adversity is just plain incorrect. Just look at past world ratings, we got stomped many times; we just never gave up and always kept fighting (nature of our community).

I do realize that not all the haters and complainers represent the very best of TC, but it sure does not help when guilds are server shopping.

It’s just a game people, have fun and let’s keep the fighting in the game and out of the forums

And…if TC concentrated on SBI constantly to drive our points down wouldn’t that make it easier for the next Tier 3 opponent to advance to Tier 2 at the next reset? How close are the ratings at this point?

Knowing that SoR is counting on coasting to an easy victory again next week it’s kind of odd that there’s been no effort put forth in response.

SOR is def counting on coasting on easy mode for at least the next two weeks. Their words not mine (and i think it is weaksauce) but write to say we neednt simply play along with what they want.

We’re currently working on building up alts, developing guild cohesion and teamwork, and continuing to build on the community that we have. Agreed. In my opinion I think that is what sets us apart from many other servers; we care more about community and having fun together than which tier we’re in. Of course we are competitive, we want to win and eventually we want to be able to say we are the number one server in GW2. However, all that comes after we build a solid community of friends and family playing and having fun together.

That, among a few other things, is what brought me to SoR at launch. The day SoR no longer embodies those things is the day I start looking for a different server.

SOR congrats on your new teammates! I hope they find a good home in your server and you guys kick some kitten in T1 when you get there. Sometimes you have to do what is right for your guild and playable time. I think everyone respects that if not likes it. You have been fun to fight against!

I really wished tier 2 was the original TC-SBI-SOR matchup because I think we all would have had a good even brawl. Although the black gate guys were a fun fight, I don’t look forward to reclaiming our territory daily. Hopefully some new guilds to our server will end those shenanigans.

SBI I haven’t honestly seen alot of complaining here from you. SOR and TC both know what it’s like to lose to higher pop servers. It sucks. But then you get to see who your Diehard players are and honestly it doesn’t matter what tier your in, if you are enjoying a fairly evenmatched brawl. This might put you in a tier you enjoy being in. I was cheering you on today, you had sm! Also for ignoring speldan, running to killing the champ oak heart – I was confused by your tactics, but applauded you because it looked like you were having fun. Then you killed me and I lol’d. I’m sure you will be back in tier 2 soon enough.

TC meh we are TC, we don’t change much. I like that about us. We keep our sense of humor and never stop fighting. It would be weird if we did.

All of this has happened to SoR in the past and it could very well (probably will) happen again and again and yet again. GW1 is well over 7 years old and still running; GW2 is only a couple of months old… we’ve got plenty of time ahead of us.

Everyone just needs to calm down, relax, kill some invaders, throw some yaks in there as well, and just enjoy and have fun playing GW2. If you find yourself not having fun, figure out why and do something about it.

Moderators should not be having to babysit us. SOR, TC and SBI, we’ve been able to keep it clean in the past, I’m sure we can keep it that way.

Not wise, if another server moves up (which is possible) then you’ll lose points for a week and drag things out even more.

Please don’t misunderstand, we want to win and we want to get to Tier 1, but only when the time is right. I personally don’t think we are ready for Tier 1 yet. I couldn’t be happier for the recent influx of Oceanic guilds, but before we move to Tier 1, I think we all need to learn and practice working together so that we can at least make a decent attempt against the likes of SoS and JQ.

I agree with Indo, TC and SBI members, we perfectly understand what you are going through right now; you are preaching to the choir. All servers go up and down; just keep fighting to the good fight and eventually your hard work will be rewarded.

How come after we left tier2, SoR reign supreme with 500+ PPT during oceanic time? Did they received new oceanic guilds transferred to SoR that i didnt aware of? Or it’s just SBI’s lack of influence?
kitten you SoR guys make us a hard time here in tier1. I thought we could have more weeks to adapt but the rating gap become closer too fast than anticipated

Several guilds from SBI, IOJ and JQ joined us recently; most of them are oceanic guilds. Couldn’t be happier to have them on board

Queue times weren’t that bad yesterday. Really happy and excited for the recent population influx. Glad to see that regardless of the score, all three servers remain cordial and are still able to have fun times in JPs.

Do I miss a certain server that recently went up to Tier 1? nah, I much prefer to roll with the awesome folks from TC and SBI… much better company and much more epic fights!
