I was looking at either mace or hammer for my guardian. I was having trouble with hammer skins that I liked the look of, and the mace was just a really good design. In the end I chose hammer because I don’t really like the mace skills very much.

Well it was more of a factual story than an opinion. I suppose we can draw some conclusions on the nature of group play in gw2 from it. Based on my experience gw2 offers options for casual and semi-hardcore players alike and is generally ahead of the competition in most aspects right now. That’s as far as I’ll go without trying to type paragraphs while eating.

You can get all armor pieces from karma vendors in wvw that are useable at level 2, including helmet and shoulders.

Yes it is possible and from what people are hearing that is exactly what’s happening. It isn’t rival server ddosing your server though, apparently the cloud servers that host a bunch of different games are are being hit.

It might not be any problem with your computer or internet. For the past few days almost everyone on my server has been experiencing bouts of horrible lag and intermittent disconnecting. Right now I can’t even log on to the game.

It would most definitely not be ok if EOTM was purely an overflow map. Where would that leave us mid-tier servers?
The current maps also need a redesign. They should either redo the borderlands so that a server has a desert themed bl, another has a snowy bl, another has a swamp/forest bl. They could also add in extra maps with different textures – coastal bl, highlands bl, jungle bl. Each would have a different layout with different tactical advantages that would (hopefully) be balanced. Even as a mostly cosmetic change, it would make wvw a lot more refreshing, speaking for myself.

I play almost exclusively in wvw and pvp and up till now have payed no attention to living story, but the dialogue between Braham and Taimi in this patch has definitely been one of my most favorite aspects.

The build I run is 30/10/0/0/30, using axe/focus and staff with targeted wells (corruption and suffering) and lich form. I run in a zerker/Valkyrie set up and it’s pretty ridiculously fun. If you have trouble surviving you can add in more knights or soldiers gear, or a knight/cavalier mix, but generally keeping in good positioning is all you need.

There is another spec you can try if you search for it called Ascii’s wellomancer build which is a great bet for a new player.

I ran the build you’re using for a while with success. Now I decided when running in larger groups to take 20/20/0/0/30 so that I can take the Chilling Darkness trait and run a better Well of Darkness and Plague 2. When I run in smaller groups I take Lich Form and snipe squishies. I have knights armor and berserker trinkets.

Putrid mark is a very useful skill in wvw, especially when running a power necro. ~4K direct aoe damage while cleansing conditions makes it one of my favorites.

When building to a specific situation such as gvg, you will generally have to sacrifice other capabilities such as 1v1. However, you can do very well in 1v1 or small roaming fights in general as a power build necro. I would advise you to run a well power build to be as helpful to your guild as possible in larger fights. You can then change your utility skills and trait skills, take lich form and destroy most opponents in small fights or duels.

I’m playing a sylvari and I hate the looks of the standard armor. I’d like to get the tier 3 cultural skin but I don’t want to play through to 80 hating my character’s look. Assuming I can afford it, could I buy the tier 3 set, use transmutation crystals to combine it with a lower level set, and then as I level up continue to use the basic transmutation stones to keep the stats up to date as it’s no longer “level 80” gear? Or will I have to use the crystals still?
