1. The supply carrier one sounds interesting.
2. Dislike the thieving. Lvl 1is too unbalanced. You’d get way too many supplies when fighting group vs group. Lvl 2/4 is fairly useless unless you get a blob with this. Lvl 3/5 would be too unbalanced unless you give friendlies a method to dismantle siege and that would lead to too much abuse.
3. Golem mastery. Golems are too OP as-is and need nerfing, not buffing.
4. Defense mastery: with tweaking this could work. The first few tiers seem a bit weak.
5. Capture mastery. In general, I think things can be captured quickly so any speeding up wouldn’t be great.

Dolyak mastery has potential, but the mount idea could potentially be abused by people to hold the dolyak in place (log on a low level alt and park the yak), etc.

My solution would be this:
1 min after a player is defeated, opposing players get a second finishing move that takes 30 secs to cast. This move doesn’t award any points/achievements or rewards (bags/gold), but if completed, it will do more damage to their equipment (or 1 sp per level in gold damage if none equipped/all broken) and force them to respawn at their side’s entrance.

it effects all servers. It is funny how many times you tell people not to take supply from a keep, and they immediately do it and repair something.

Yeah, but this is nothing new, though. This has happened every day that I’ve ever logged into WvW. Just more of it than usual due to the achievement.

Idea for a new badge use

I have a few thousand of these saved up and they’re fairly useless to me.

All my characters are in exotics so the armor/weapons are useless. They can’t be transmuted/salvaged and right now, exotics are so cheap that they’re not really a savings in money.
I could use them for the laurel vendor, but I’m limited by the laurels, not the badges and some day, I might get a legendary and need the gift of battle, but again, more than I would need for that.
I spend a few here and there on siege blueprints, but this is rare.

One idea that I had was this: have a wvw commander tome similar to the one that is available for 100 gp. The only two differences are that the cost would be primarily badges and maybe a small amount and that the symbol would be a red commander (blood red for the wvw currency). This would give people a use for badges and allow them to grind for it in wvw which is generally not a great money generator as opposed to pve. Also, it satisfies another request by users which is to have another color symbol available.

I got bit by the same thing. I wanted to try to salvage them to get the last dark matter than I need for a 2nd ascended weapon.

I have no problem with them being non-salvageable and non usable in the Mystic Toilet, but there should be something warning the player about this. “Indestructible: Item cannot be salvaged or transmuted.” Simple enough to do.

It’s good and bad.

The good is that people seem a lot more motivated now that there’s something more than just the match of the week to win. I’ve gotten in some good fights over the past few weeks. For example, I had a good 1:1 earlier this evening with a elementalist that was back and forth until I managed to lure him into a couple of wandering guards. (I hope he realized that my bow emote was for a good fight and not mocking him.) It’s also good to have personal goals in the form of the season achievements.

The bad is that the season achievements often are counter to the playing that you need to actually win, leading to frustration when you should’ve been able to cap a tower, but too many were off capping a sentry or yak and you got repelled instead. Or they are mindlessly repetitive (ruin capping..ugh). There’s even more zerging than usual and the karma train can get old.

The last one may not be an effect of the league, just the servers that we’re matched up with, but seen a lot more hacking than I have in months (since the last match up with FC with players literally running through walls).

I don’t know if this is a contributing factor or not, but thought I’d mention in case it helps. When I was doing mine, I had the tracking on and made sure that it updated after each one. On one of them, I noticed that the animation and cast bar completed, so I started moving away to avoid the respawns but I did not get credit. I stepped back, did the animation and paused for an extra 1-2 seconds, then it updated. Seemed to be a lil bit of sync issue between the animation of the casting completing and the actual casting completing.

What a battle tonight in both Devona’s Rest Borderlands and EBG DR Keep. We tried hard against HoD, but they just kept coming and coming. Enjoyed trying to push them out of our keep.

I think that’s the longest that I’ve ever been in a keep battle but it was one of the most fun. Lots of good pushing on both sides with people actually fighting and going back and forth in front of the inner instead of everyone on both sides just standing back either sieging or protecting the sieges. Then, afterwards, some good small scale fights as the blobs dissipated a bit. Kicked some kitten . Got mine kicked a few times (so that’s how a dog feels when it catches a car…). But lots of fun.

On this, a good trick that I used was to track the achievement and make sure that it incremented. I’m 21/24 (not yet done the other 3). On one of them, I noticed that I hadn’t gotten credit, so I retried immediately and it worked again. Also, it seems that you need to remain still for an extra second after the animation finishes or you may not get credit. Hope that helps.

On the idea of scaling points, another metric could be the time since last possession to scale rewards. For example, let’s say that Green has had Anz for 4 hours. If Blue takes it, they get full rewards (WEXP/PPT). Let’s suppose that Blue then holds it for 24 hours, then if Red takes it, they get 4xWEXP and better chest drops plus for 4 hours they get 4xPPT for it. However, if Blue quickly retakes it within an hour. Because of the penalty, they get 10% of the normal WEXP/worse chest drops and their PPT for it are 10% of the normal for the next 4 hours.

This bonus/penalty could be further scaled based on current point totals and/or server rankings so that if a dominating server has to decide between letting the tower sit and build longer (making it harder to take) which gives them more rewards overall when they take it or taking it quickly over and over which nets them little reward but maintains little threat.

Or even worse..when the client crashes as it tends to do quite often. I was 35 mins into the event and so, got no final reward or any progress on the achievement/quest line

Two warriors from the FC guild Hard Peen were walking through the solid walls of WC this evening. Walked right through the corner wall, stun locked me to death, then walked back out.

I queued around 8:50 pm my local time for the first time against Halmi. I didn’t disconnect or even move far away from the fight manager during that time. While I was waiting, I was reviving other players. Then, I noticed…wait..I’ve already revived this person. So, I started watching and that same person went twice more. Then, I started taking note and I saw another person go twice against Halmi, then against another boss while I still hadn’t gone even once.

So, DR….DR DR DR…..I have to ask: WTH???

It’s Noon NA PDT, 8/1…..you have nothing, zero, zip on EB. HoD earlier had your entire BL (they tried to take everything, but never could take AR’s NE tower). So what do you do? You attack AR’s BL vs. 1) trying to take ANYTHING back in your 3rd of EB, or even step foot into HoD’s BL out of…..what, fear? And now HoD is back in your BL taking it all, and you’re…..still attacking AR BL? You either LOVE us and just can’t get enough of us or you HATE us and are raging in our BL. O.o

Hard to have much sympathy for you. Last night, when you guys had nothing in EB…not even a single camp most of the time, you were attacking keeps/camps in DR’s third instead of reclaiming your own.

How about nerfing the OP hills?

Hills don’t have stealth, so they’re not OP.

Maybe…or maybe you’re just not seeing the ones that are in stealth.

It would explain some of those invisible wall effects that I find here and there. It’s actually a stealthed hill.

I’m really getting a bad impression of the PHZE guild from HoD. In our last match-up, there was a ranger from that guild that was somehow able to hit an Arrow Cart (range 2500) with his shots while out of range of the AC.

Yesterday, this lovely person managed to somehow repeatedly get up on the walls of SM when the walls/gates had not been breached in hours and was running around trying to take out siege.

Pretty amazing how close this one is.
At the moment, there’s only 3.4% difference between 1st and 3rd place. One day going better for HoD or DR or worse for NSP would have shifted our bracket’s ranking. NSP probably has 1st due to the small amount of time left (though, if they get too complacent, could blow it) and it’s still a toss-up on 2nd or 3rd place with < 100 pts delta.

If you look at any other bracket, there’s nothing this close. Between 1st and 2nd, there’s a 11.6% spread on the top tier and between 1st and 3rd, there’s 15.5% in the 5th tier.

To the HoD in NSP Hill last night… I will not accuse anyone right now because my screenshot are not good enough but I suspect zoom hacker. I will be actively looking for you.

Honestly, I’ve seen a lot of “strangeness” to use a polite term this week. HoD appearing within SM inner before the gates went down. A HoD mesmer walking through the walls of SM. A NSP blinking across the field when cornered…4 times within 2 seconds..faster than abilities can recharge. Another NSP disappearing when downed. Etc.

It’s a shame that people feel that they have to cheat to win. (And yes, I’m sure that we have some on our server as well)

Involve casuals in defense

Why even have siege engine refreshing? It just introduces a mindlessly tedious task that no one wants to do and penalizes the smaller servers. I think it would be better addressed by the following:
- Siege do not require refreshing if they exist in an area controlled by the same faction.
- Siege in an area controlled by another faction decay much faster (5 mins?)
- Siege in a neutral area also decay at a fast rate (10 mins)
- Do not allow flame rams to be place in a controlled area. (Not really any use for them)

Favorite moment of the week was last night. One of the zergs, I believe SF, had just taken OgreWatch from our outnumbered band. A group decided to stand on the hill behind the lord’s room and try to pick off defenders out in front of Vel. One well placed treb boulder showed them the folly of their ways…and the bottom of the hill. Got a half dozen bags from that one shot

It would be interesting to be in a match-up with HoD without a massive imbalance such as having BP as the third. Most of the times I’ve seen HoD, it’s been a massacre one way or the other due to one of us having to fend off BP. Whichever or us ends up in 2nd place will depend on the focus firing that BP does.

I’m a fairly casual WVW player who’s in a 2 person guild and has just been learning the past few weeks and playing in the match-up the last few days.

While it’s obvious that this is a lopsided match-up, there are quite a few things that we could be doing a lot better on DR. This is what I’ve observed:
- People are not using siege. For example when we lost Klovan once, we had a lot of siege in it. Instead of using it, we had melee jump off the wall and pretty much instantly wipe. Using siege would’ve probably have saved it because we would have been there long enough for reinforcements. We’ve also had siege sit idle in our keep while our towers are being taken. Please use the siege weaponry. I personally love them and the dozens of bags that a good AC will give me.
- Communication. There’s lack of communication. We had two of our groups beating on opposite walls of the same fortress and didn’t know at one time. Or just the general defenders on the wall not saying anything about incoming so that our force wouldn’t be sandwiched between two forces. The other is making sure that the communication is useful. “Inc” tells me nothing. “40 BOP inc at Klovan” is actually useful. And let’s not even get into the example of the people who whined so much on the map channel that s/he got suppressed and couldn’t warn of an attack.
- Too narrow focus. One way is that commanders sometimes get fixated on a target and focus on it to the exclusion of all else. An example would be trying to save a paper tower in another land instead of rushing back to save a fully upgraded tower. Another is as individuals, focusing on capping a kill instead of reaching a goal. Several times I saw people stop or chase wounded people instead of rushing in to save a tower cap. (Part of this is a failing of the system as it disproportionately rewards badges for kills instead of defending towers.) Or to give another example, simply stopping dps for 2 secs to heal the wounded person at your feet.
- Awareness: This is kind of a catch-all, but it covers a lot of things. The previously mentioned not using siege when it’s available is one example. Another is just paying attention to what’s around you, whether it’s making sure that another force isn’t coming up behind you or noticing the hole in the defenses that one of your teammates sacrificed themselves to make.

While we can’t keep the 50 man BP golem zerg from wiping our keep vs our 5-10 man team in the wee hours of the morning, we can at least make them pay harder for it and execute better when we do have the numbers.

This is a guild just with my five character slots. As many, I see very haphazard influence gains from logging in.

I created it on 1/28 and since at least 1/30, I’ve logged on all five characters each day.
Credits:
1/30: 3 members credited
1/31: 4 members credited
2/1: 4 members credited
2/2: No members credited
2/3: 3 members credited
2/4: 6 members credited…out of 5 total
2/5 (today): No members credited.

So, out of 7 days, I should have had 35 credits for 350 influence.
Instead, I have 20 for a total of 200 influence.
