The burst potential on a class alone does not make it “good” or worth taking. This is a gametype designed around 5v5 not how much damage can something do to someone who’s not expecting it.

To be honest I think adding GvG to the HoTM and sPvP area of the game would be easier to add/better than the PvE version. Being locked into a tier of 3 servers and not being able to skirmish outside of that is pretty lame.

This guy, as if its an accomplishment for you to stomp two servers with far less coverage than you, DB was struggling in T2 and JQ has sufficiently destacked/faded in coverage enough to a beefed up T2/TC level coverage.
I don’t think anyone in JQ really cares much for T1 and the gimmicky gameplay it brings. It is just fun to watch BG struggle when your players and WvW guilds decide not to show up, or be incapable, if its not an easy win.
Your right guys, these runes that have been in the game since launch are the true source of disbalance in this game.
There is some seriously disbalanced stuff in this game, Lyssa runes is not one of them. People only started using them because of the need for massive cleansing, condispam is the culprit here.

No, I play on JQ and I think Fuzzion and Volkon’s views are just skewed from playing timezones where things are relatively balanced. Last night OCX timezone Blackgate had 2-3 orbs locked down and was pushing a 370+ tick.
I had a few fights with a BG mesmer 3 with 1 orb each and then 1 when he had 2 orbs on me, and 1 with a 3 orb advantage on me…
The practical difference in a fight was that my usual shatter burst combo would be able to down him if I got him at ~60% health, where as when he had 2-3 buffs on me.. He hit like a truck and he would survive damage by 5-10% health and be able to turn around and kill me quickly after healing up.
Will upload the vids if I get time but, NO, this stat bonus needs to be reworked for everyone. T8 to T1.

Like so many others have said, holding the orbs for the stomp bonus alone is incentive enough. Being on JQ, seeing BG lock down 3 orbs for hours on end means they are free to do as they want when they want.
When a server has the orb advantage the other two servers are going to be inclined to avoid fighting them because of the stat advantage.
IF the stat advantage was removed you would see an increase in fights due to the potential PPT gains you are making > Good.
While not discouraging outpopulated servers from going out there and trying to fight back without being outgunned due to the stat bonuses.
Anet should just delete elementalist from the game
More than one ele or mesmer on a team pretty much means you’ve lost in YoloQ.
The only time I am afraid of Elementalists would be in tournaments. In my opinion, Elementalists have the highest skill cap. And therefore the full potential of an Elementalist is rarely seen. In tournaments, I see Elementalists wreaking havoc on unsuspecting foes. They are much like Necromancers whom use staff. If you leave the Elementalist unchecked, they will bomb your team/surrounding allies with AoE damage. Unlike the Necromancer, however, this is raw damage, and cannot be mitigated by condition cleanse. They have been nerfed close to the ground, sure, but they are much in the state that thiefs are finding themselves. They are still a threat. But you need to be VERY skilled to play one effectively. Unfortunately this effectiveness comes from being cornered into a few builds. That is the main problem, Elementalists lack diversity in my opinion.
No. Trickery thieves are top tier in viability. Eles are no where close to as effective team fighters as necromancers.

i for one LOVE my ele in pvp.
it really is the mage class right now, you can dish out a colossal amount of damage but you’re extremely squishy to compensate.theres nothing quite as epic as melting the faces of every enemy on point within seconds…
4k meteor shower ticks, 3k lavafont ticks, 3k fireballs all at the same time.
its ridiculously high aoe damage, and it comes at the price of being ridiculously squishy, fair trade
or pull out the ole’ fiery greatsword and let your enemies watch their healthpools evaporate like butter in a frying pan. >:-3ofcourse its only for those of us who like the playstyle that massive damage and low survival offers.

Eles are still the worst class in the game for pvp, the only eles you’ll see in high level play are there because they are seriously skilled players. The only way to make it as an ele is to completely outplay your opponent, one mistake and it pretty much means your dead. Even skill level pretty much every other class wins.
Lol who would want to put in the time or effort to beat the abjured? Even if you put in the tremendous amount of effort and got lucky…Will it even be worth it?

No, if you run a condition build you cant do 1k direct damage. It simply wont be possible. I cant kill an AR engi sitting there on 100 health an regen. Regen alone > my direct damage. And hybrid necro is horribly bad because scepter doesnt scale at all well with power stats outsies of scepter 3 which only does really when they have condis on them – which they wont.
So ye, you cant deal 10% damage. Rabid engis will be the same tbh.
And AR is not nearly as bad as this trait. At least with ar engis every build in the game has some chance of killing them but condi bombing them at 30% health. There will literally be no way a rabid build can even interract with such an ele. And tbh, same even for a carrion build on necro. They still wont be able to hurt the ele.
Like I said, the evidence is in this thread. A while back there was a thread about anet listening to the wrong players. It is time to see if that is truely still the case. You have experienced players lining up and saying this is a very very bad change to the game. And you have inexperienced players defending it for illogical reasons. This is such a simple thing for anet to see. I hope they dont kitten it up with this trait, which only effects pvp and not pve.

Im not saying that necro shouldnt be nerfed. It should be nerfed along with everything else. In fact atm it is probably 5th most powerful class in the game, as whilst it puts out big damage (in the right hands espicially) – it also actually dies and is really weak to the most powerful builds in the game.

Im not complaining at all. The class is not overpowered. I just don’t think its under powered. It has 2 viable weapon sets (like a lot of classes). Good support too. 20 air, 20 water and 30 arcane wont 100-0 anyone but no other class can 100-0 too. Seriously i don’t see why s/d or d/d ele needs a buff. The other weapon sets probably do tho

Add a counter showing how many people from your server are on a borderland and EB and have it update in real time or close to real time – AFK and non AFK alike. The people that really care about determining how much coverage they have at a given time will do the work from there.

No, the difference in the numbers you are seeing in the BL is not “buygate”.
We do not detag to discourage our “new WvW players”. We teach them, get them into TS and recruit them into the WvW guilds. All of our WvW guilds have gained in numbers throughout the last three weeks, while SORs map numbers have slowly shrunk.
Its true once or twice when defending garrison we’ve asked achievement hunters to get off if they aren’t on a lvl 80 but it is not the norm of our server at all.
BG has a very large PvE community. We had a large one before Teq, but now its much much larger. Why?
Because the leaders (not myself) of BG were smart enough to open our WvW TS up for the PvE players to use and coordinate to take down Teq. In fact, two of our best WvW commanders became consistent Teq raid leaders and got a huge influx into their guilds because of it. BAM GW2 announces on their facebook page how awesome BG is in PvE and we have a huge influx of PvEers transfer over from everywhere, because everyone wants to beat Teq while they can still get the achievements.
Now comes the part where ANET makes achievements that have a limited time window that can only be done in WvW, aka League. (this is after they give “awesome” chests out for every 500 achievement points you gain). What did you think would happen, all those PvEers flocked into our WvW maps.
Do we complain? Do we detag? No, we do everything we can to show the fresh meat how awesome WvW is by organizing massive TS permission drives for our new players to get into TS. All our WvW guilds recruit like crazy. Some guilds get so full, the only time they can all fit is off hours, like Oceanic or late EU.
Don’t blame BGs influx of numbers on a zerg of 30 Russians. We’ve been working on reaching out for new WvW blood for months, and its starting to hit critical mass.
And for the love of Pete, don’t blame low SOR ticks during NA or Oceanic on that zerg of 30 Russians who are asleep or at work.
That’s the difference between BG & SoR. BG guilds are PvX and recruit as many people as they can. More people = more ppt
SoR is hardcore WvW orientated with a bigger focus on guild quality. CHOO/TW/FEAR/Hel/IRON/ONE/RISE are all under 150 quality members each and are hardcore WvW. We like to keep it that way.
We don’t have a warchest. We don’t buy guilds. We don’t field insane numbers into oceanic, or massively recruit. But at the end of the day, we keep our dignity. Grats on the finisher, Blackgate. See you tomorrow during NA.

Stop being so naive to believe it will break up zergs… It wont.
So… how do you suppose a server that only zergs will be able to take and hold 3 different points at the same time without breaking up? And on top of that also defend their towers/camps/keeps?
I’m not going to get into a theoretical debate with you on this because in our heads we can come up with some crazy ideas as to how we feel things should work when in reality you wont get it. If you put effort into researching this buff you will understand the mechanics behind it in terms of time to capture and what it takes to remove the buff from an enemy server – Its not as straight forward as you would believe.
With the buff points being in the central area of the map to get from any keep to those points requires 30s to 1min depending on class. Its very easy to get people to trickle into these points until your entire zerg shows up, wipes what is on the point trying to take it and heads back merrily on their way into the tower or keep they were just sitting on arrowcarts in.
This will not split up zergs, if anything it will make them more prolific since you will require your entire server zerg to take these points, if you go with any less you will meet another server with more numbers meaning you call for more meaning they call for more meaning you call for more, rinse and repeat…

^This, you are delusional if you think this is going to magically give losing servers a better chance. Even if you are right and somehow magically this does stop people from rolling 30-40 deep, it doesnt combat population imbalance, 3 groups of 15 or 1 group of 45 still outnumber and will stomp the losing servers groups due to snowballing.
Even if they do manage to bring enough people to combat them, they will be fighting people with +150 stat bonuses on them.
The reason we went with heal skills first is that we actually believe this is the highest impact area for build diversity.
1) it is a small pool to begin with so adding to it increases choice by a large %
2) it sees a lot of use
3) it heals you which is pretty importantAs time goes on we will also introduce traits, utilities, elites, and potentially other stuff.

Agreed, the two most impacful chages you can make to vastly improve build diversity and viability are adding new Healing skills (or improving current ones), which proved to be key in the case of the Warrior profession (see Healing Signet, the most significant and impacful change that vastly increased Warrior build diversity and viability as a whole), and improving (or adding new) Weapon skills, which was proven by the Sword/Dagger Thief’s significant effectiveness and performance increase after the changes and improvements to Flanking Strike.
The other contenders are obviously Utility skills, Traits and Elite skills, but those two I already named are above these in my opinion.
Sword/Dagger thief was already a very good duelist build before they changed up Sword 3, it just took more precision to kill people than D/D or D/P did at the time. Ironically, it will be a weaker weapon set next week than it was before it was first buffed.
