You could still do that by transmuting them onto the white backitems contained in the Backpack Set’s. Just don’t expect them to have stats…

If there’s going to be some punishment for Tixx – or whatever you weasely Lawyer types are calling it – I want in on it!

I bought some of those toys for my Cousins Naming day. In the white of Snow she was to receive her first wooden Sword, and by the description of that lying, thiefing Skritt bugger that sold me that dolyak poo, they would have made a fine addition to the festivities.

Now imagine my cousin, being in heaven over her very own sword (luckily i opened the package before and removed those silly looking woolen… somethings… that where on the hilt) standing there expectantly and those dolls come out of their package… and curtsy. They curtsy! Like some posh Human Nobles in their beloved summertime they curtsy – and have the gall to remind us to mind our manners!

Poor little Svenja nearly cried. We wanted her to start her Legend with having beaten the ravenous murderous Toy horde – but there’s no Glory in slaughtering wooden things having a Tea Party. And even those Griffons – which don’t even remotely resemble the majestic beauty of the real deal – only give a whimpering squeak when you hack at them. If someone hadn’t stepped on Garms tail so we could at least have the traditional fun, the day would have been a complete disaster!

Now I hear that some human girl who doesn’t even appreciate a good brawl got my cousins fun? That bedeviled Tixx ruined the day that was supposed to be Svenjas and by Raven I WILL tell him personally what I think of that – by planting my Fist in his Face!

That might not be exactly on topic but: why haven’t those that spend real life money on this (and claim to just want it to make music) bought a Midi Controller and an old version of Cubase from ebay? That would have been even cheaper than some of the sums I read in the forum.
Granted that would not have been a Korg – but so isn’t the Choir Bell.

Someday someone has to explain to me how the focus of a game that was originally about slaying monsters in company shifted in a way that items which where meant to be a fun sideline addition got the (life?) deciding factor to so many people.
In small words please, since I just don’t get it.

Yeah, they’d be nifty if we could reproduce them on command…

How are the chances that we get a mobile “evil toy” box from Tixx once he arrives at Lions Arch? One that we could just pop in a dungeon and have a laugh while those aggressive little buggers tore down some boss… say like the Arch Diviner or the Infused Shaman in a higher fractal. That’d be a show

Sigil of Generosity > Sigil of purity

@fractal: that might be overdoing it a bit. Since both mentioned Sigils are on a 10s cd – and the cd is shared among all sigils – you would escape only a miniscule amount of cond dmg by double stacking them, depending on how many crit hit’s you do. Not really worth it in my eyes.

I’ve played with a Mesmer who had that Sigil slotted in his Greatsword and swore on that combination.

As to the constraints you mentioned:
1) With the higher up and/or dungeon enemies, conditions are pretty much a given.
2) Unless you have a build with very low Precision – or you don’t engange in fights that much – that’s not difficult, even with cond builds.
3) I use the Sigil of Frailty which has a 30% chance to proc Vulnerability and on average I see 2-4 stacks of Vulnerability each fight when opposing single targets. So that should not be that difficult either.

So it all comes down to whether your class/build/playstyle has enough condition removal. As a thief I have no need for that, as I have plenty of condition removal skills. And if I am more in need of different skills, there’s always Saffron scented Poultry Soup.

However if you play a class which lacks condition removal (the forementioned Mesmer said that about his class, can’t comment on that since my Mesmer is still only 14) and you need the food slot for different stuff, and the conditions you encounter are to die for, then yes that Sigil might be worth looking at.

Or you find a zone overrun with bots and open the present while they’re around, grab your gift, step back a little, and watch the fun. It’s pretty much hilarious if the Ventari or Princesses come out…

Those fights remind me that I always wished that we could move the dragons to the bot zones once in a while…

Tired of seeing P/P in groups

in Thief

In my experience all ranged combat is subpar on the thief – if compared to other classes. So what is the OP’s suggestions for us? Go melee in situations where even Warriors and Guardians go long ranged (i.e. Ascalon fractal)?

Thief’s survive due to evading attacks (the way aegis works for Guardians). If I face an enemy that either does very high pbaoe damage (Ascalon Boss) or does cc (Harpys in Asura Fractal) I go into ranged combat since melee range wouldn’t give me the appropriate time to dodge attacks.

And while the average damage of Unload might not be that much, let’s not forget Body Shot. Whenever I switch to p/p, my experience is that there are usually only 1-3 stacks of vulnerability on the enemy – even when there are ranged Warriors in the group. As p/ thiefs we can go for at least 15 stacks permanently. For short amounts of time even 20-25.
Can my 4 teammates do more damage with 15-20 stacks of vulnerability than I can do with Unload? Most likely.
Can I be more usefull with that combination than to try a very stupid melee attack? Absolutely!
Add in a perfectly timed Headshot and the occasional teammate ressurection and I don’t think that p/p sucks.

And to those that complain about Signet of Shadows: I am usually equally sad about fellow thiefs that have that skill slotted without ever using it. Imho when used correctly it is a very essential skill, in that you use it to blind a mob immediately before you run into it to to prevent them from simply downing you with their initial attack. Then you do a lot of damage (not with P/P :P) and dodge out before their counter.
Well, except in the Dredge fractal, for obvious reasons.

Items created in the Mystic Forge soulbound?

in Players Helping Players

lunaticat.4216

I want to create the ascended version of the Fractal Capacitor (among other interesting Mystic Forge items), however since it is faster to level/skillchallenge a new character to get the skillpoints required for the recipe incredients than to do fractals and afterwards exchange tokens for skillpoints, i’d like to forge the item on a different character.

Which would make the whole exercise pretty much moot if I couldn’t transfer the item to the character that should wield them. So my question to those that already did that: are items that are created or updated using the Mystic Forge automatically soulbound, akin to transmuted items?

My thief’s a Norn and Raven likes her for it.

Asura are too concerned on how to use their Alchemy to get drunk, Human’s are so nostalgic they pray to dead entities, Sylvary aren’t too sure whether they practice cannibalism if they eat a salad, and Charrs wish to ascend to be the ultimate ghost buster.

Let them all have their silly squabbles. I am Norn, and I steal my Glory from all of them!

Main-Hand Pistol negates Hidden Thief?

SpaceCowboy, this doesn’t work for me.

I’ve tried both stealing from an non-aggressive enemy with weapons holstered as well as holstering weapons during a fight and stealing afterwards, and both times my thief fired a shot immediately afterwards when auto-attack was enabled.

@Katsumoto, Wolfen: indeed that does the trick. Seems like a bug to me as Ichishi said.

@Wilow: that’s going to be the harder task. I don’t seem to get my instincts to accept that pressing 1 a single time keeps the attack going automatically, especially since I switch around in a fight some time, to spread the conditional love around, which requires me to press the attack button several times (I don’t like autoattack on target change).

Anyway thanks for the input everyone, that answers my problem.

I’ve just tried to get a Sneak Attack after stealing with a Hidden Thief trait and completely failed. While the thief remains stealthed when stealing with a Main-Hand dagger, stealing with a Main-Hand pistol is always followed by a single shot which leaves stealth.

I’ve removed all other traits except Hidden Thief (to make sure that the problem is a not a combination of Serpent’s Touch or Mug) and the described behaviour remains.

Does anyone know whether or not this is an intended effect or a bug?

Superior Rune of Mad King for a condition thief?

in Thief

lunaticat.4216

If you are not into the damage the Ravens inflict, then combine half the Runes of the Mad King with half the Runes of Lyssa. You’d loose 5% bleeding duration but gain 10% overall condition duration for a total of 20%. Plus you’d balance Power with Precision which is also not bad (though you’d loose 15 point of power compared to using the whole set).

Changing stats of back item

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: lunaticat.4216

lunaticat.4216

That’s exactly what I hoped to avoid – I’ve checked the guild armorer beforehand and found the selection a bit narrow, which lead me to make the decision I did.

Well it seems I have to do it anyways and hope that ANet will one day add the Rampager equivalent to the list of Guild back items.

Thanks to both of you for your suggestions.

Changing stats of back item

If this would to the trick it would be worth it.

However in my understanding the level requirement of the item is part of the stats and as I am interested in the books stats because of its cond dmg – which are in no other back items save the one I unfortunately did not choose – I would also transfer the books missing level, thus it’s inability to carry higher jewels.

Is that understanding incorrect?

Changing stats of back item

lunaticat.4216

I’ve finally reached the point in my personal storyline to choose a high level back item for my character and since the Berserker variant is roughly equivalent to the guild assassin piece, and I’ve gotten my character a Mad Memories book that equals the rampagers stats, I though “let’s go for some diversity” and took the clerics stats.

Now it seems that I’ve gotten too clever for my own good, as I didn’t know at that time that the Mad Memories book doesn’t take a higher class jewel. Problem is that I’m gearing my character towards a condition build and would rather like to use the rampager’s stats…

Since it’s impossible to redo that choice and back items can not be crafted/bought/weaseled-out-of in other parts of the game, has anyone a suggestion on how to change the stats of that piece? Does doing pennance by praying in front of the shrine of the holy Zommoros help in any way (aka is there a Mystic Forge recipe that might help)?

I’m pretty much out of ideas at the moment, and while I think that the cleric’s stats are nice for some setups, it’s not the one I’d choose for my current build. So any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Personal Mission Air Drop Imbalance

in Suggestions

I just completed the personal mission “Air Drop” and found the teleportation power (slot 3) of the battle suit a bit… imbalanced to say it nicely.

That power makes AoE damage + AoE blindness and teleports, which is quite a cool thing. But having that kind of power with no cooldown is surely a mistake, no? After having defeated the waves of risen I leveled the remaining map in about half a minute flat by simply micro-jumping through the hordes.

I get that the battlesuit is supposed to be cutting edge, but if this kind of high powered (didn’t want to join the chorus and scream OP here ) ability is really designed by intend, I want that thing as a consumable.

ArenaNet please kindly do put 30-45s cooldown on that power. That mission is easy as it is already. Thank you.

(Although I have to say that it made for some fun tactic. As in just electrocuting everyone in sight.)

Attached is a picture of an NPC wearing clothes (it was a norn equipment repair station, but i’ve seen npc’s wearing this armor elsewhere) that I’d like to put on my engineer. So far I’ve searched through armor and karma vendor galleries but haven’t found this particular set.

Is this an armor set that can be put on a character and if so can someone please point me to where to find it?

Broken preview display on instant reply's

in Forum and Website Bugs

Posted by: lunaticat.4216

lunaticat.4216

When reading a forum thread and using the instant reply function (i.e. the reply box at the bottom of the thread, not the dedicated reply page by pressing the Add Reply link) and previewing the reply afterwards, all sentences longer than the normal message width (such as this one) are not broken to the next line but overflow (and are hidden).
This is not the case for previews shown on the dedicated Add Reply page.

This condition can be recreated by opening a random forum thread, writing a very long sentence into the quick reply box at the bottom, and clicking on Preview.

My guess is that the .message div has an absolute width which the .post-reply div overrides (or declares overflow: hidden) and thus breaks the post reply preview out of the normal message box textflow. Which prevents it from breaking longer sentences.

Unrelated: you created a gorgeous visual experience for the whole gw2 webpage guys. It’s really a pleasure to use the page.

@Rouven: There’s a timed event at the Shaemoor’s graveyard (south of Divinity’s Reach). You have to speak to one of the caretakers/priests to trigger it for the following night.

Unfortunately the time displayed by ticking the In-Game Clock setting is the realworld (outside the game world) time not the gameworld time (inside the game world).

Does anyone know the command to display the ingame time? It would be helpful to have the current time when waiting for events that are time triggered (i.e. events that occur at night).

Thanks.
