don’t disable inviteing other servers I do it all the time just before reset as a group of us run around goofing off (shooting off fireworks tonics and so on) and sometimes its fun to just chitchat with the other side when fooling around

I’m laughing at those people trying to justify the hacks that Dragonbrand employed last night. Multiple people on multiple arrow carts and catapults shooting in impossible places. It took us on SBI a good minutes to figure out it was a DB catapult in the tunnel under SE tower that was taking out our lord’s room siege by shooting directly upwards. I wish our catapult blueprints included that feature.
Not to mention the DB AC’s under supply huts being able to target objects through the supply hut roof, through the wall, and over the bridge at Hills. Tell me again how SBI is supposed to counter that without hacking ourselves? And we’ve seen cheating, we’ve played against CD. But it’s pretty much unanimous that we’ve never seen a huge portion of an enemy zerg cheat so blatantly.
So now we know how DB got it’s Tier 2 status. Shame, this week could have been fun even if SBI lost at every turn, but to loss to cheating by rampant and blatant hackers is another thing.
It’s one thing for a few bad apples in a zerg to ruin the match. It’s another when the zerg is full of them. Kodus to Dragonbrand, fielding and defending hacks takes a special kind of skill.Until last night I had no idea this kind of stuff even existed but kitten did I get a crash course in hacking and cheating. We watched our trebs get eaten by AC from down the side of a suicide cliff (so tall fall damage would kill you) we realized that something was up. Normal players cant zoom their camera back far enough to land those shots..
It’s like he said we didn’t expect to come out on top, but all we wanted was the opportunity to fight it out in a fair and balanced setting. This is really discouraging and disappointing.
tbh I watch for people using the zoom hack to trickshot ac’s I know how to do it and wont share how to do it or do it myself but it is very easy to do for those that know how. the situation where our catas in the tunnel were killing siege in the lords room is easy catas no longer damage through walls to other siege however that tunnel is not considered a wall aiming right at the wall close range sends the rock flying into the wall just close enough for the aoe shock from a cata to hit the inner siege at lords room. I have looked around and haven’t really seen siege inside of the supply huts however most ac placement is actually behind the gates placed in a special way thakittens almost hanging off the edge allowing us to use it with almost no chance of it being taken out unless a group knows how to counter.
the ac’s aiming up the wall is a easy one the range counter on a ac doesn’t count upwards and downwards so we can fire it 100000000 yards straight up or down it is simply a matter of looking up with the increased aoe size at t4 ac mastery you can hit trebs placements easily

for now il say the 2nd system but we will have to wait and see only been 1 day of week 1
I got a glitch may be related to this all my points have been reset so i am at the same rank yet all points unspent. i cant spend the points either on any tree
im kinda in agreement and kinda against it was a lot more fun invited more in field combat however also made people not even bother upgrading towers/keeps and made spawns get filled with 20+ golems (at least on our server)
also it was simply the victor has the most people with the possibility of counter attack
or it would make 2 t1 servers alliance and kitten anyone with the matchup system
honestly I enjoy not having a reset every day it sucked to stay competitive you needed to be actively in wvw everyday as a server the way it is now players can compete with others in the great reset push then as it winds down later and the rankings are set/last few days of fighting for it, can move into pve/spvp without the feeling of ditching their fellow guildies/servermates

Furthermore, if 15 players couldn’t catch one thief, then you guys need to L2P. Thief stealth is not nearly long enough nor unpredictable enough to make it that difficult. Thief throws down Shadow Refuge? Illusionary Wave or Void pull him right out and slam revealed. Shadowsteps away? Well, you better have a mobile setup too; it’s not ANet’s fault that you chose to have the slowest-moving build in the game. CnD’s one of your players? AoE the area where your player just got hit, and be prepared to see the thief running away from the direction you came in. Chaining stealth with HS + BP? Stand in the BP field, or AoE the kitten out of it, or use a pull. Moving too fast? Use immobilize, cripple, and chill, and any pulls you have. And swiftness? Please, thieves have horrible access to swiftness. Either way, you could have simply pulled out a boonsteal thief or a boon corruption necro to destroy the swiftness anyhow.
If, of you 15 players, you couldn’t pull off simple anti-stealth and anti-mobility tactics like that, then you guys need to go watch some guides ASAP.
just watch the first 2 min to see an example where the theif used shadow refuge as a decoy then used another ability and leap finished for his perma stealth
to the theif and Mesmer that 2 v 2’ed us at ne camp dbbl good fight and since nothing else but golems can be dropped we are gathering the armored core

I go up 3 ranks apx an hour now with the new patch so that’s the chance of 6 rares an hour till im level 300 wvw isn’t 2nd rate its go into pve and try to get 3 rares an hour not farming broken temple events or southsun with the 200% magic find buff there
its funny cause
you’ll never be able to buy ascended items for badges.
1) badges are kitten easy to get on high tiers, this is so you can buy lots of siege.
2) waaaay too many people are stuffed senseless with badges and are too selfish too buy lots of siege and want rewards for themselves, aka ascended items.

We included the laurel cost to prevent the economy from suddenly being blown out and to not invalidate the ways PvE players can get ascended items already. This system means that it is faster to get them in WvW, especially for players who already have badges, without being so much faster that everyone only gets them in this manner. As for the difficulty of acquiring laurels in WvW, we have taken steps to address that, including the fact that there will always be 3 daily achievements that are WvW specific. Speaking personally, I’ve been able to achieve my dailies in WvW even without that change, but this should make it even easier.
But why 20 day of dailys for 1 amulet or 25 days of dailys for 1 ring? when I can just go in 5 hour get to lvl 10 in fractals and see if I can get a ring. Even if u wnat to get ur ring in fractals with pristine fractal relic it took u 10 days not 25. The 250 wvw badges is easy to get 2 or 3 big fight and there u have it but 25 days for 1 kittening ring is stupid, I rly don’t know what kind of ppl think that 25 day was the same for pve and wvw. But what do I care I have all the ascended thing I need u guys are 5 or 6 month late in this crap
you don’t seem to understand that getting a item ring or otherwise from fotm is a chance not a garentee and then its a chance thakittens the item you need
only problem I see with this is parties are invited into the dungeon as long as your in the area so top score wouldn’t matter. and if they fixed that then im sure that would mess around with the other dungeons and pve would q.q……. you know how fast anet responds to them

The answer to DB’s problems doesn’t lie in further stacking more guilds on your server; if Noodles’ thread is accurate, you’ve acquired 940+ players in the space of less than a month. FA would need these guilds (or any sorts of transfers) more than either TC or DB.

Problem is that i need 280 laurels just to get rings for my characters and that is just one gear sets.
recheck your math its
30 for amulet
35 for rings x 2
faster to get accessories from guild events
so 100 laurels with 5 weeks of guild events (assuming you 5 a week from bounty rush and challenge)
or 180 laurels with ecto’s
this is before they create the wvw items assuming its half cost
15 laurel amulet
20 laurel rings
no accessories
so apx 55 laurels (for those that don’t know you get apx 40 laurels a month) so not much work compared to other games at getting the best gear

The backtracing system is utter bs. Why do we need to play 2x the amount of wvw to get our reward chest back? Why can’t you just dump them in our mails per character based on the number of ranks we gained? Now all the work we did before this update was totally for nothing, cause it will ask us to gain more ranks, and the higher your rank goes, the more WXP you need to level up… This is a lazy trick of Anet to keep people playing WvW.
its to not destroy the market in 30 sec flat of the patch hitting
anet dont listen to to this thread I have hardly had to leave wvw the past few months at all to do dailies at least 4/5 were done in wvw with hardly having to leave my guild group.
to the players complaining I wanna work for the gear I can get not have anet say here have free ascended cause you have 10,000 badges in the bank waiting for the day they did this.

Those complaining about laurels forget the WvW focus dailies we get. If you play a lot of WvW, you’ll get them without any extra effort.
Even though people don’t like it, Laurels is still a pseudo-gating tactic and encourages you to do activities beyond what you’d normally do. Need your last item… oh, a JP, I’ll go do that.
Nope, i don’t get laurels by only doing wvw stuff most of the time. And you only get one each day, which makes the game super-grindy. This is terrible game design. No-one enjoys it and no-one finds it fun. It’s just a chore.
And ascended are also soubound which even makes it more terrible for those who got multiple chars.
Grinding is the reason i leave mmo’s. But i haven’t found any mmo with a better combat system than GW2 yet. So i still play this game. And i’m hoping they will add some other stuff to keep ppl playing other than months of grinding for ascended.
All MMOs have grind in them. GW2 got rid of the mandatory grind. Everything in this game that had “grind” attached isn’t required to play the game. Are dailies required? No. Are Ascended gear required? No. For the longest time, I was WvWing with Exotic gear, which I crafted, purchased, or got as a chest drop.
Remember, all these Ascended gear for WvWing is a bonus. I’m glad the option is there to get stuff that’s only been available to PvE players.
No mmo has mandatory grind. After all you can for example run in circles without having to grind.

1) You never saw a bunch of golems dying in forgotten oil? There are some funny youtube videos about that.
2) This is an advertisement not a patch note, this is written by an advertisement designer and not by a player/game designer. It contains as many useful information as any other advertisement
I am not sure we should use events of stupidity as a basis for what makes a mastery useful or not.
Even if it is an advertisement, it still represents two new abilities being added that are completely worthless. Each of those abilities represents design/development time that could be better spent on useful aspects of WvW, real changes.
It’s nice that we have you to tell us what’s useful and what isn’t in WvW. It saves us the time and trouble of actually waiting and seeing what gets added.
So you enjoy standing on an Oil can that has nothing to pour onto below because every man and his dog are stood back pelting it (and you) with all incendiary.. now how will oil mastery help.. they are useless beyond belief, so yeah I think the OP has a point.
Unless the new trait line lets you turn the oil into a projectile.

Also for those whining at rank 260 etc, It will take you the same amount of time to get your reward chests as it will take me to get mine, even though i’m less than half your rank, unless for some reason you change your play habits and simply don’t play as much.
Actually they will be getting rewards faster then you, well at a certain point. For example if you are rank 100 then for the next one hundred ranks you will get double chests for each rank. The person at rank 260 will be getting double chests for the next TWO HUNDRED AND SIXTY RANKS! And as other people have said i think the reason anet did this is to not flood the market with what ever rewards we get from them. Still people should not feel like their time was wasted just because they don’t get the rewards right away.
in the end its the same thing though. for instance player a is rank 50 when he hits rank 400 he will have 399 boxes. player b is rank 150 when he hits rank 400 he will have 399 boxes

they can easily fix skill delay just need to put culling back in…. and honestly I would rather have no culling with skill lag then culling with not seeing a enemy 2 feet away from me

its not that db is burt out most of certain wvw guilds have been farming gold to assist other guilds (coming soon) in getting to db

I just can’t believe you people can’t cope with the arrow carts and haven’t figured out other tactics.
Structures are still getting flipped on a regular basis, just not a quickly nor able to just have a ninja team do it.

It has nothing to do with bad play. Of course arrow carts can be countered and new tactics employed. But as I’ve stated before, what the majority of people in this thread object to is that those new tactics are simply not fun and wind up being tedious and boring. That, combined with the fact that what was intended as a Zerg breaker for low pop servers is actually being used by high pop servers to solidify their lead in annoying and overpowered ways. The irony here is that confusion, the true Zerg breaker, was destroyed on the 30th as well. Most WvW players want epic player to player combat over objectives. Not standing around protecting arrow carts and trebs. Most WvW player want to be able to storm a tower when a wall falls, not be unable to enter the hole (and not even bother trying). Pre-patch siege was a nice compliment to player strategy and combat. Now siege is the main show. The main weapon. It’s absurd that an arrow cart is more powerful than a catapult or a balista. Simply absurd.
All I’ve seen in kitten and moaning about how this is destryoing wvw because they can’t deal with it and all these people are having a mass exsodus.
Hasn’t changed anything that I’ve seen, because there are still q’s on several boarderland maps during the week, stuff gets flipped just as easily as before, maybe a little bit slower but it hasn’t actually changed much beyond a little different thought about taking something like using a cat or treb instead of just rolling up to the gate and dropping a bunch of rams and STAND IN THE AC FIRE WHILE BEATING ON THE DOOR.
AOE should make you want to get out of the circle, not ignore it. I’ve stated before, range is a bit much but damage should stay. People should absolutely want to get out of AoE, not ignore it.
in that case lower the aoe size of the arrowcart and increase the global cooldown between attacks cause thats alot of circles getting spammed all over from 1 arrowcart if you havent noticed. i agree with you though moveing out of aoe’s is simply what your supposed to do but when it can be spammed at that large its to much
EU servers in general are imballanced check out tiers 1,7,8 and sometimes 3 and 5

A quick look see showed that we have no queues and I’d say around 120 on all four maps combined
Clearly this is because of our amazing skill and has positively nothing to do with arrow carts.
We just lost bay because whoops nobody was there to staff it.
We’d normally have many more people, but there just isn’t much participation for some reason.
so about those 9 ac’s on your south gate of bay earlier today
gonna be honest stay where you are and give a kitten ton of thought into where you xfering to. spending $4500 or 21000 gold is a huge investment trust me my guilds done it.
have to also say bringing a 90man primetime zerg into t5-7 is gonna imballance that server group for a time and you will raise that server up 1-2 tiers with simply your movement.
also you may not have this issue since your guild has been together for so long but you will be doing pvdoor while the others in that wvw hide from your guild so expect for your players to get bored

I am familiar with the concept of zerg math. We outnumber you by a minimum of 30 people, while you simultaneously outnumber us by at least 30 people. The laws of physics (and logic) do not apply to zerg math.
Essentially, as soon as the number of enemies goes above 20 or so, they must outnumber you because no one’s going to bother to count that many people to prove you wrong. Once one side wins, their number doubles (or triples).
In the world of zerg math, victory is only attained through a vast numerical advantage, regardless of silly things like “reality”. No one can ever win through superior positioning, tactics, siege placement, etc. Only numbers. Ever.
In summary: Even if we really have less (~30, plus militia), we would still only win because we have more (80, assuming also plus militia).
we almost proved this entire post wrong yesterday in EB was apx 15 (RE) – 50 TA(not sure if it was 1 guild mainly or not) we almost won by kiting effective choke points and attacking the backline of squishies when open (this was open field combat outside between a keep and tower no siege fired)
AC mastery till its nerfed…. hell even after ac’s were nice before

Buff stacking groups attacking a tower when your out manned basically ignored arrow carts damage completely.
A fully upgraded tower should be defensible with small amounts of people vs a group otherwise what’s the point of having towers and keeps, might as well just have open group way points to cap which I’d find dull tbh
at the same time though now its just people capping a tower during low times placing 2-4 superior arrowcarts in extremely hard to hit/not hittable at all and waiting for the 5pm zerg train to roll in so they can get bags in the end yes this destroys zergs but yes youl never lose that tower to a non-zerg either
yep….. 2 ac’s wipe a zerg of 70 2 ac’s will kitten a 10man
this isnt a stop to zerging you think a few arrowcarts that can slaughter a 70 man zerg is even gonna draw a breath to kill a 10man small team

@dewolfe i can see where your coming from but a arrowcart is a massive aoe weapon aka small damage to a large group. if you used a balista on that guy trying to ress gg you got 2 corpses
when you need to use lines like “you could actually stand down and…… spend time with your family” you need to take a break from the game for a week
im against adding accended to badge venders i can get anywhere from 200-500 badges a day depending on how active i am
fractals yes you can get accended items from it but its not that impressive its a chance to get a ring and chances are if you get one its not the ring you need/want
if they made it so you could get a daily chest from say capturing stonemist keep that would even it out and pull servers together to try and take it
so we were running around earlier today and decided to stop in and say hello to sm
we built some catas bashed down a wall but when the wall got downed it didnt fall….. it upgraded… but the rest didnt upgrade…
you can complete your monthly and dailies in wvw to get laurels to buy accended items so i honestly dont see much difference excluding a once/day chance of getting something after lvl 10 fractals… so only thing i see anet being able to do is a once/day capture stonemist chest
